T-Mobile OnePlus 6T security update is now rolling out

We saw T-Mobile update the OnePlus 7 Pro at the tail-end of June, and now T-Mo is kicking off July with an update for its other OnePlus smartphone.

The T-Mobile OnePlus 6T is now being updated to build A6013_34_190612. The update is on the smaller side, coming in at 98.1MB, and it includes the June 2019 Android security patches.

This may not be the most exciting update ever, but the last T-Mobile OnePlus 6T update had the April security patches, so OP6T owners do have a more up-to-date security level to look forward to. If you haven’t already updated your T-Mobile OnePlus 6T, you can check for the update by launching the Settings app and selecting “System”, then “System update”, and then tapping on “Check for update”.

Thanks, Marty!

This is why you buy iPhones or unlocked Androids, so updates aren’t always slowed down by telecoms.

I’m not looking to be difficult here, but it just doesn’t matter to me. My Note 9 gets updated by T-Mo a few weeks, or maybe a month or two late. My thoughts are, so what? Over the years this has never once been an issue for me or any of my immediate family members on my plan.

Even when an update is available, I’m in absolutely no rush to install it. I’ll get to it later in the day, or maybe a few days later. Unless it’s a highly critical update, it just doesn’t matter to me.

The problem I have is that they don’t update phones, OS, that can still be updated. Timely or not, just give me the update less than 6 months after the new OS has been released. Waiting a year or more for a software update is stupid in this day and age.

I received this update a couple of days ago and have not noticed any difference.

Are you referring to the manufacturer not updating the phone in a reasonable time, or the carrier not releasing a software update?

T-Mobile released the Pie update to my Note 9 in what I would think was a reasonable amount of time. Even then I delayed installing it as long as I possibly could.

  • This is why I have been tempted to convert my 6T to the international variant.
Then I would be able to get oxygen OS v15 instead of 11.

Wow, security patch while the non tmobile version has gotten update after update with better software and new features. Time to convert my 6t to international version.
