Over the weekend, T-Mobile and Samsung released a new update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

The new update is version G950USQU1AQJ8 for the Galaxy S8 and G955USQU1AQJ8 for the Galaxy S8+. Galaxy S8 owners can expect their update to weigh in at 155.45MB, while Galaxy S8+ owners will be downloading a 151.98MB file.

Included with this new update is the October 2017 security patches as well as some unspecified “system improvements.”

If you’ve got a T-Mobile Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ and haven’t yet gotten this update, you can check for it by going into Settings > Software update > Download updates manually > OK > Start.

Thanks, Jose and Chaz!

I noticed that too. Samsung phones never were known to be smooth or fast, so this is a good change. As a recent Samsung convert, I’m glad I picked a time like 3 months ago to get an S8+.

Mine is a unlock from Samsung. I guess wait a few more days.

I think mine is too (realized months after I bought it that Costco, in fact, sells the G955U instead of the T), but I get the updates on day one that they post them, like clockwork!

Already got this update 5 days ago. Nothing fancy. Hope it includes the Krack patch.

Why is my TMO Note8 still on the August security patch?? WTF!

I agree. I usually do a factory reset after like 6 months just to get my phone back running smooth. After this update I immediately could tell a difference on how smooth I was able to transition between and the launch of apps.
