T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5, S6 edge+ receiving security-focused updates

Days after the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge began receiving software updates, it’s time for the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ to get updates of their own.

T-Mobile has announced updates for both its Note 5 and its S6 edge+. The changelogs for the two updates are the same, touting the June and July security patches, Google security fixes, and “various system improvements.”

The Galaxy Note 5’s update bumps the phone to baseband version N920TUVU3DPG1, while the Galaxy S6 edge+’s update will bring the phone to baseband version G928TUVU3DPG1.

Security improvements are always welcome, and it’s good to see that these updates include the latest July security patches rather than only the June fixes. If you’ve got a Note 5 or S6 edge+ and haven’t yet updated, you can check for your update manually by opening your Settings app, tapping “About device,” and then selecting “Software update.”

Thanks, Jean Carlos!
