T-Mobile’s new family plan offers 4 lines with 6GB of high-speed data each for $120 per month

Yesterday a leaked document suggested that T-Mobile was prepping “an unbeatable rate plan offer” to replace its 2 lines for $80 promo plan, and now that new rate plan is official.

Starting tomorrow, May 11, T-Mobile will offer a family plan with 4 lines of unlimited talk, text, and data as well as 6GB of high-speed data per line. Pricing for the rate plan is $30 per line, or $120 per month, and you can add additional lines at a price of $20 each.

T-Mo says that its new family plan offer will be available for a limited time. It’ll be offered in stores and through telesales.

In addition to this promotional rate plan, T-Mobile is kicking off a deal that’ll get you a free Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime with the purchase of a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge. With this deal, you’ll get a $190 prepaid MasterCard card to cover the cost of the Galaxy Grand Prime. This deal requires at least one new line, and you must also buy the GS7 or GS7 edge on an EIP.

Does this mean the 4x $140 10gb is gone?

    • dontsh00tmesanta

      Still on website
      Perhaps on its way out

    • Philip

Why didnt you do the 4x $150 for unlimited data and everything?

    • disqus_DFnvXJ7c9h

4x for $120 10gb was better deal offered last year and early this year. Might come back

  • The Waz

    does the discount still apply?

    • Philip

Good question. My 4 for $150 got 15% discount.

  • Joey

    What about 3 lines??

    • I know a friend who has three lines, and the guy at T-Mobile let them have a SIM for a fourth one that does nothing. That was nearly two years ago, but try your luck.

      • JLV90

you can do that but free isn’t free, it requires taxes and fees which are probably $5-10 extra for most people.

        • disqus_DFnvXJ7c9h

Exactly makes more sense to put 4th line sim into another phone for tethering or car use

    • (J²)

With these new promotions, you are able to keep your plan even if you dip below the minimum number of lines but unfortunately you still have to pay the base price – which is the cost for the minimum.

For example, I have Unlimited Everything for $150, 4 lines and the 4th line is FREE but since the base price is $150, I have to pay this regardless of how many after lines I have.

  • jtothada

how is this any different from the?

Each line gets up to 6GB of 4G LTE data on our network per month.

The first 2 lines are $80. You can add more lines for $20.00 per line per month.

Coverage not available in some areas.

p.s. still mad the s7 edge is 60 down when it was 0 for preorder….

    • Fujitsujeff

+1 … This is essentially the same promo except it appears now you have to get the four lines to get the promo instead of being able to get the promo with just 2 lines

  • steveb944

All these promos don’t benefit long time customers, and they get worse and worse every release.

    • nutmac

      That’s the nature of promotions.

If you look at just the normal regular plans, I think T-Mobile has improved the offering a great deal over the years. But these countless promos have increased complexity and many of the newer promos are worse than older promos.

Better than Sprint, current users can’t even get new deals.

Maybe you should have jumped on the 4 unlimited lines for $150 promo or 2 unlimited lines for $100 promo. It’s pretty clear T-Mobile is moving itself away as a bargain brand carrier.

    • S. Ali

Long-time customers have been getting all the uncarrier benefits for free. Switch to a better deal if you can find one. That’s the freedom you have with no-contract service.

      • steveb944

        ALL Uncarrier benefits? Nope.

      • Rod

That’s not true. I’ve had Tmobile for 11 years and I don’t have all the uncarrier features.

      • Romdude

I have uncarrier benefits with my $20 unlimited data plan for 3 of my phones. Yes grandfathered in but some of the newer benefits (which I don’t really need) like more wifi hotspot are not included.

    • dtam

at least they’re not taking away your grandfathered plan?

    • (J²)

Actually, I have switched from one unlimited promo to another; 2 Lines for $100 w/ $40 Add a Line to 4 Lines for $150 w/ $30 Add a Line.

In addition to the 4th line being free, I also receive 14GB of hotspot (instead of 7GB) and North American Family Feature.

I’ve been with T-Mobile nearly 2 years and have benefited from new deals. The truth is some of the deals offered suck… PERIOD. This was the case in 2014 when I joined and is still the case now.

    • Loco Mole

Actually, I came from grandfathered 2 small biz lines of 5 GB $40 each ($80 total) with 1000 minutes UL text, no roaming in CAD/MX, no International data. For the same price, I now get an additional GB, UL minutes, and CAD/MX and International data.

I did have to wait for 10 Uncarrier moves for something like this, but it’s a better deal.

      • steveb944

        Glad to hear.

  • TrueCopy

This isn’t a 4-line minimum, is it? Can we still go in and get 3 lines for $100? Been meaning to do this.

    • (J²)

      There’s a 4 line minimum.

      • guest

        I don’t think so.

        • (J²)

          Yes, there is.

The promotion isn’t live yet so you wouldn’t be able to verify this yet. The 4 Lines for $120 will replace 2 Lines for $80 tomorrow, it’s essentially the same offer but just with a higher minimum/base rate.

        • guest

I don’t know but the plan calculator already gives you 4 6gb for $120 and 4 10gb for $140. And you can pick 2 or 3 lines and still get promotional prices, and you can mix plans. I haven’t tried with more than 4 lines.

        • (J²)

The current plan is 6GB – 2 Lines for $80, $20 Each Additional. This is why you are able to choose 2 or 3 lines and remain eligible.

It’s almost an identical plan, the only difference is 4 lines are required to receive this promotion starting tomorrow.

        • guest

Got it. However, I think it’s gonna be the same, the difference will be that they’ll be promoting the “new” 4 6gb for $120. We’ll see.

          Sorry for the headache.

    • guest

The site says 3 6gb for $100 and 3 10gb fro $120, just play with the plan calculator.

  • riverhorse

    Yes, children, you’re right… Tmo is evil. I’ll switch to Verizon. Oh, wait… I can’t afford…

    • matt

i got net talk connect for $100 for 5 months
this month i used 22 gigs, but thanks to binge on and data stash i was only charged for 2.4 gigs. and i still have 20 gigs left over in the bank. so if i was on verizon, the 22 gigs would of costed me a hundred dollars for one month??. or if i was on the wrong plan, then i would of been charged 240 in overages???

this sucks with all the white listing, i am having difficulty using up the 10 gigs + 20 gig stash i have. to actually burn up my cell data i gotta go out of my way to download torrents or something

      • patt

Around 140$ just for data, not including line access fee per line :D

    • Your Choice…

Again, I think you missed a few doses of your medication… and from that stand point, you are welcome to switch to any provider of your choice..your money.

      • guest

You don’t know what’s going on, maybe it’s too much medication, or low in sugars, or high in alcohol, high in hallucinogenics…

        • Your Choice

LOL, LOL..I agree, well stated, well stated…

  • Wow and I can get that for half off on Sprint? What? Sprint half off doesn’t apply? T-Mo #ftw

  • francob911 .

    I hope there’s a 4 lines for $100 with like 3gb each line and add a line for $10…

Does anyone know if the 4 lines for $100 with 2gb each line include the BINGE On features ???? I didn’t know they had this plan but after i Google “4 lines for $100 tmobile” it showed up and apparently it’s avaible

    • Daniel Marchand

I have the old 4 lines with 2.5gb each plan for $100, binge on is available, however if your line has less then a 3gb data plan you only benefit from the compression ( data lasts longer) you do not get unlimited streaming.

      • VernonDozier

Yeah. That is the plan we have. We also thought we had the 10GB in our data stash. Didn’t have that feature either. T-Mobile “Unlimited” data Promotion was only for a year.

T-Mobile also added a new fee so the bill went up from last month. Cricket is looking better all the time. $100 for 4 lines (including all fees and taxes) is looking better every day.

Also, we are paying $58 a month in Jump Insurance fees alone. For that $58, we can get $20,000 in insurance from Safeco that cover all our home electronics with a $25 deductible.

        • Daniel Marchand

Data stash is only for paid data lines, in our case if you paid to upgrade above the base 2.5gb on this plan you would get a stash, they view the 2.5gb equal to the normal plan 1gb (now 2gb) option. I haven’t been hit with any additional fees… Not paying for jump either agree not worth it IMO. You should be able to drop jump whenever it just can’t be re-added until you get a new device.

        • VernonDozier

Yeah; the fees all add up quickly. Each line increased exactly $2.80/month this month.

Very strange. Either way, we’re actually paying the same as back in the day when we were financing phones.

        • Daniel Marchand

I wonder if it was some tax adjustments – possibly locality based. Over the time we’ve been with T-Mobile I’ve seen slight adjustments in tax amounts once or twice (each time it went up/down less then $1 – those were federal level tax adjustments. I’d check between the bills and see what changed to know for sure.

        • Mike

Check out metro pcs it’s a company owned by tmo. Lot cheaper and includes no tax or fees… The even give you a phone, albeit lower end smart phone…

        • Harry Hirsch

Tax is collected by the Feds. There is no way you can avoid paying tax for having a cell phone.

      • TaekwonBo

I have the same plan 4×100 w/2.5gb – Just to clarify a statement you said that binge on is available. While the feature is indeed on, we don’t benefit from binge on streaming since you need 3gb or higher of data. If its less then you will indeed use your data to stream.

        • Daniel Marchand

That’s not true, your accurate in that we do not get unlimited streaming, but all customers benefit from the compression if it is on so there is some benefit i.e. w/ binge on it may run at 480p, without binge on it may run at 1080p and eat 3x more data.

        • TaekwonBo

          Thanks right! Thanks for clarifying.

    • Shara

Binge on is only included in paid data, which is 6 gb plan and up.

  • Mike

I have the 4 lines with 2.5gb for 100$. I only use 3 actively.. It was cheaper to take the 4th line than just do 3. What kills me is the tax and fees – amounts to 28% before the 10$ add on insurance. Never go over the 2.5gb cause I’m in WiFi all the time. Be more cost effective to switch to Google fi or republic wireless.. Both use WiFi calling first for <20$ per line. Project fi uses tmo network… Also the Metro pcs includes all tax and fees for the stated price and uses tmo network… Get with it T-Mobile forget the pizza and drop the tax and fees. Be the true uncarrier

  • guest

The 10GB family plan still have promotional prices starting with two lines. The new 6GB promo looks like it’s only for 4 lines.

  • Brad Lewin

I used this promotion for 3 existing lines. It was $90 total for 6gb of data each. I used to be paying the same for 2gb per line. Just called customer service to get it. Did not need to have 4 lines.

  • HeadBangToThis

And I’m over here paying 133 a month for 1 line with added services I’m forced to use with out adjusting my bill

    • T Redd

      who are you with?
