iPhone SE, iPad Pro 9.7 now available for pre-order from T-Mobile


Right on schedule, the iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7 are now available for pre-order from T-Mobile.

Pricing for the iPhone SE starts at $0 down and 24 payments of $16.67 (full retail $399.99) for the 16GB model, while the more capacious 64GB flavor will set you back $0 down and 24 payments of $20.84 (full retail $499.99). T-Mobile is offering all four colors — Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold — with the 16GB Gold and Rose Gold models expected to ship by March 30. All other devices are listed as “Very limited quantity. No estimate available.”

If it’s a tablet you’re after, you can snag the 9.7-inch iPad Pro in Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold. The new iPad Pro starts at $0 down and 24 payments of $30.42 (full retail $729.99) for the 32GB model and goes up to $159.99 down and 24 payments of $30 (full retail $879.99) for the 128GB model. There’s also a 256GB version available for $309.99 down and 24 payments of $30 each (full retail $1029.99). All models are expected to ship by March 30, save for the Silver 256GB, which says “No estimate available. Waiting for supply.”

Both the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be available in stores on March 31.

In other iPhone news, there’s been no official announcement regarding the iPhone discount that we heard about yesterday. The leaked info did suggest that an outbound calling campaign to support the offer will start on March 26, so if you’re wondering if you qualify, you may find out soon.

      its still priced less than the 16gb 6. which has a 0 down. it would be odd if they charged a down payment on it.

      Doesn’t Apple do financing for carriers too? Theirs are 5-7 business day backordered, which is better than the S7/S7 Edge backorders w/ T-Mobile at some point.

        Apple has a better plan IMO because you can roll AppleCare plus into the monthly payment. We prefer that to tmo insurance because apple’s customer service is amazing.

          Financially speaking, Apple is a little more pricey for some folks, especially with a trade in device to get a JoD upgrade. I love Apple’s cs too, but they take care of folks even without Apple Care.

    I called the general sales line to Jump (JOD) from 6S to this phone, and the rep told me I couldn’t Jump to a phone that would result in a lower monthly payment. This was news to me. She emailed me a Jump FAQ that she claimed made this policy clear, but it didn’t say anything of the kind. (Also looked back at my original lease document, etc.)

    I called Retention — they confirmed I could Jump to a cheaper phone, and placed the order. Said they didn’t know what the original rep was talking about.

    I find that the only way to reliably receive good service from TMO is to call Retention…

        For the 16GB model ($399 retail), JOD price here in CA is $17.99/mo. ($16.50 + taxes) for 18 mos.; with final buy-out price of $102.99. (Taxes may be less in other states…?)

      that is a joke and wrong information. If you can go into a store so they can do it. Other wise msg t-mobile help out twitter and complain. They may do it there and look into the mater for u.

    I was not able to get the 100.00 off promo for JOD but I was able to get 100.00 credit on my bill as a reimbursement when I get the phone in the store this week
    Update … The credit has been applied to my account already!

      Yeah, all Customer Care reps. are able to apply “courtesy credits”. It has nothing to do with the promotion for “select customers”, it was just done by T-Mobile as a courtesy since you inquired. They’ve done this to me in the past. If you look at their Twitter, you’ll notice that those who inquire get manually applied courtesy credits lol.

        Yes I know about this … Just trying to get clarification on JOD … It seems to be by over the phone only now and I don’t want to deal with mailing phones in! I have a feeling that EIP and Jump will be the only in store options

          Lol, yeah – I see what you mean now.

          You *should* be able to sign up JOD or upgrade via JOD in store (in addition to over the phone) but many T-Mobile stores turn customers away who are looking looking to perform a trade in – which is required to “JUMP”.

          I’ve done some research over the last few weeks and stumbled a cross some complaints that may explain why some stores do not allow customers to JUMP in store. To simply put it, the process is a hassle. They are essentially accepting a phone (which has to be shipped off from the store) and provide you with an upgraded phone at zero down – this impacts their *actual* sales figures and could be a liability if the phone isn’t in acceptable condition once it reaches the warehouse. In addition to this, most stores have limited inventory (carrying only the base model of certain phones).

          Stores would much rather deal with new subscribers, paid in full purchases, new EIP’s rather than, returns, exchanges or upgrades as the latter comes at an immediate loss.

          It’s truly at the stores discretion, for some reason the non-corporate stores act like “authorized dealers” even though they are listed as official T-Mobile stores.

          But I was advised 6 months ago, you will eventually be able to sign up for JOD and upgrade online but of course that would still require a mail in but at least you don’t have to deal with the middle man lol.

          I see now! Thank you for making that clear! It’s hard to distinguish corporate stores from dealers as I went to stores from the T-Mobile location site but received the same answer! Jump and JOD has some major flaws that need to be worked out before the next major iPhone release! I also understand now why the other carriers don’t offer a program like that! Apple can handle this but I’m concerned about release day of the crush load of people trying upgrade/trade in their lease phones + new purchases? I wanted to upgrade to the 6s for now then the 7 later but I guess now I’ll just wait for the 7 and see what my options are then.

          I completely agree!

          The good thing is when you order an upgrade via JOD, a return label is shipped with your order for you to return your old device. This is how customer care explained it to me.

          I’m assuming all is fine at that point unless damage is found, then I’m sure they will bill your account a fee.

          The stores have never helped me, I’d prefer to steer clear of them.
