Legere teases VoLTE in SF, further sightings in Fremont, Cal

Following John Legere on Twitter – apart from being entertaining – can often be a good place to spot what our favorite carrier is up to next. Yesterday afternoon he tweeted what you see above. Seemingly confirming that VoLTE is up and running in San Francisco. If any of you in the area rocking a Galaxy Note 3, LG G Flex or Galaxy Light can confirm that it’s up and running, be sure to get in touch with us.

On that note, we’ve also been sent evidence that the network is also active in Fremont, California.

It’s pretty encouraging to see T-Mobile rolling the service out so fast. So far we’ve heard that it’s active in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, California, Dallas and Houston as well as the officially confirmed Seattle. Pretty good going by the network team. I’d give them a round of applause, but, they wouldn’t hear it. Good job network wizards!

Even more to brag about to my friends who pay too much and have contracts and stuck with their phones. hahaha

Very true – I love it when they say “Well I have more coverage!”.

My response? Congrats, you pay double for coverage in places you will likely never be. In the event that I am in a remote area, roaming still has me covered for emergencies.

Congrats for paying for coverage you will never use haha Thats what id say

Or getting a discount for the coverage you’ll never get. haha

Coverage one won’t need? Or use?

So true. Unless you live in an area that only has verizon coverage or you travel for business there is no point in paying extra. I’m happy with what I have and paying a whole lot less

I’m pretty sure I don’t pay double what you pay on AT&T’s Value Plan but my phone does work inside Target and other big box stores where my T-Mobile phone would be SOS.

I was paying $20 more for 3 phones on AT&T compared to what I pay on T-mobile for 5. I barely had any data on AT&T. I had a 15% discount on AT&T compared to 10% on T-mobile

Do we know if these are the only existing T-Mobile phones that will ever have VoLTE, or are these phones just being used as tests and other existing phones will eventually get it?

  • wezra
