Public Service Annoucement: Use Coupon Code To Receive 30% Off Samsung Galaxy Gear

Thanks to TmoNews reader “JW” who notified me that using promo code “FALLFUN30” knocks 30% off the retail price. The promo code takes the cost of the Galaxy Gear all the way down to $209.99. This deal only appears to work on T-Mobile’s website and there’s no telling how long it’ll stay good for. Now that it’s out in the open, time may be limited…so if you’re wavering  back and forth about purchasing, there’s no time like the present.

The Galaxy Gear may not be the most well-reviewed “Galaxy” product to come out of Samsung lately, but a 30% discount allows some leniency as the company works out the kinks. Early reviews have ranged anywhere from downright disdain to moderate satisfaction, so if your expectations are tempered for a first-go at a wearable companion product to a smartphone this might be worth checking out.

Regardless of the reviews, here’s a nostalgic commercial Samsung just released for the Galaxy Gear.

    Seems like a cool device but 25 hr battery, and even $209 price tag I just can’t do it. Sony smart watch 2 seems like a better buy, even tho it lacks a few gear features. Gear 2(if it happens) will probably be a winner tho.

    I would get it if it worked on my non Samsung Android device, but they can’t even get it working on all their own handsets so can’t expect much. Good deal tho.

        When I had my T-Mobile order (I’ve since cancelled it), I ordered it without logging in. I noticed that if you logged in to My T-Mobile, the Gear was out of stock.

    picked it up at best buy friday morning and i got the last one. i was shocked it sold out already when the store wasn’t even open that long

        I have it and it exceeded my expectations. I don’t make a lot of calls, but the one test call that I have had worked pretty well. I could speak with my arm at a comfortable distance from my face; I didn’t have to have my wrist up to my ear and mouth to be heard and hear the caller. Text messaging also worked well with the voice dictation, which I have struggled with in the past.

        The battery life hasn’t been as bad as what I have seen reported. The standby battery life is great so you will have plenty of juice for those times that you are using it. I took it off the charger Sunday morning right after midnight. Now it is about 35 hours later and I still have 53% remaining. I have used it and shown it off to Best Buy employees and customers and coworkers during this time.

        It is easy to transfer pictures taken to the phone. The camera does well in good lighting for a 1.9MP camera. I haven’t set up the pedometer features yet.

        It will pair with a Galaxy S4, but it is not fully functional yet. Edit: the usage that I’m reporting in the other parts of this post have been with the Note 3.

        The one area that I see that could use improvement is that GMail notifications don’t show the sender’s name. However, notifications from my work email account do show the sender’s name. It would be better if the GMail notifications did the same thing.

    BLACK showed out of stock immediately after I ordered on 10/4/13.Received a confirmation e-mail & order # w/an ETA 10/10/13.Still no payment deducted from my account,guess that’ll happen once it’s shipped.

    Hmm. If the price drops a little in a few months, and there’s another accessory coupon code, and the Galaxy S3 is updated to the minimum software version and compatibility is patched in, I may actually get a galaxy gear instead of waiting for another iteration of the hardware as I currently plan to do.

        Not at all. But this is a slapped together, glorified bluetooth headset. This is an alpha product…an internal prototype that makes the rounds at least a year before a finished product hits retail.

    Damn, I had it in my cart Saturday at 11:30PM EST and didn’t buy – thought I would think it over and of course – I tried this morning – out of stock and now the code doesn’t work on the watch anymore.

      i did to and I called them and they didnt say much when I checked the shipping this afternoon it said mine would be here tommorow. I am going to wait to see if it come tommorow

          Bob it just says cancelled and they sent me two emails. and I called tmobile and the lady acted surprised. she siad wait to see if it comes tommorow and if it dont to call back and reorder. check my credit card and no charges yet

          I called and they put me thru to the web-e-tail group at T-Mobile and talked to a guy named Travis. He told me immediately he knew why I was calling. That discount code was intended for phone accessories and the gear accidentally got initially listed as an accessory so it applied by accident. He told me that they halted the code as soon as they realized and then canceled over 600 orders already made. It sucks really. I mean the watch requires to be paired to a Samsung Note 3 phone, so please tell me how it isn’t actually an accessory?
