LG G2 Passes Through The FCC, T-Mobile HSPA+ And LTE In Tow

Anytime a device passes through the FCC halls T-Mobile compatible HSPA+ and LTE bands, we’ll always get a little hopeful and it’s happening once again with the passage of the LG G2. While the device is set to be officially unveiled by LG in New York on August 7th, the device hit the FCC yesterday complete with AT&T and T-Mobile compatible LTE, HSPA+ frequencies. I’d like to think that means a multi-carrier launch is on the horizon but we know how these things go and calling any smartphone launch a “sure bet” these days can only set us up for disappointment.

Still, the launch of the G2 would be welcome and with the release of the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile, we know that LG is happy to make devices that work on all North American LTE and HSPA+ networks.

A complete set of specs for the device is something we’re still hoping to see before official launch day is here, but it does seem to take some design notes from the Nexus 4. At least one leak has indicated a 2610 mAh battery and we’re betting we’ll see at least a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM and 13 megapixel camera. The event invitation itself all but gives away the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner as well, so there’s that.

Between now and August 7th, we can expect to see plenty more speculation on the arrival, specs and inside scoop on the G2…hopefully it’ll involve some extra carrier news as well. In the meantime, you can catch the leaked video below of the handset hanging out in the wild thanks to an anonymous YouTube tipster.

  • Love the “Not for Sale” on the back hahaha

    • Oh and I want this phone. Wonder if it will come in white or as the next Nexus device?

      • bydavidrosen

If it does it might be my first bought outright phone :-)

I swear I just read a article about the LG G2 coming in September or October. Lol that was fast.

Hoping this phone comes with plenty of internal storage. That has stopped me from buying the latest top of the line phones. I think any top of the line phone needs a minimum of 32gb of int storage if it has ext sd-card support. If no ext sd-card then a minimum of 64gb is a must just like the AT&T HTC One. T-Mobile customers got burnt by only getting 32gb of int storage with the HTC One. That really pissed me off and so many more. The XDA Website is full of people looking for a way to run the AT&T 64gb version on the T-Mobile Network. No luck so far unless you settle with the refarmed 1900 frequency. Please T-Mobile don’t allow any phone company force you to settle on 2nd best, T-Mobile customers want the best of the best. T-Mobile is not a 2nd rate Network, don’t allow the manufacturers treat you as such. I would rather pay a few bucks more knowing my phone won’t slow down to a crawl due to lack of internal storage. Today’s apps and games are huge memory hogs, download a few games and apps and you have used up allot of internal memory.
    Thank You T-Mobile

I am definitely going to buy the G2 if it’s on T-Mobile. I already have a
    Nexus 4 and a i have a
L9 as my back up device. Actually using the l9 more then the nexus 4 lately.

I think this is one of the new MetroPCS phones using the T-Mobile bands

    • Nate595

This is definitely not a MetroPCS phone, its supposed to be a major flagship phone.

      • HeatFan305

Who, knows? Metro PCS could get it, but nobody would buy it because of the lack of marketing and the price tag for new premium phones. Metro PCS has the Galaxy S4, so it’s not like they cannot get flagships. Small chance it could happen, but probably not. The Galaxy Note II is not on Metro PCS.

  • disappointed :-p

    No Sidekicks? :(

    • gentleman559

NEVER EVER AGAIN. The worlds worst phones. The MyTouches were close but not quite as shitty as the Sidekick. LOL

  • Trevnerdio

My mom still has the old G2 :D

  • UMA_Fan

This is going to be some confusing branding. Although if they go with stock android and WiFi calling this could be a good combination

    • This is what I’m waiting for! AOSP+wifi calling=perfection!

    • Trevnerdio

I like how the G2x came out forever ago and now the G2 is the “new and improved” version. Doesn’t make much sense.

      • 0neTw0

And the G2 was an existing T-mobile phone by HTC.

  • PaulC

The FCC doc says LG-D801 while the video says LG-D803. Why?

    • jonathan3579

Different models have been leaked. One that has been leaked a lot is the Sprint variant.

  • neal

Bring us the moto x t-mobile!

  • Ben

It’s an impressive device, but if the bootloader is locked, I’ll have to pass on it. Hate 2 wait? I hate restrictions

  • Alex L.

remember the colossal screw up that was lg g2x anyone? sorry, but ill pass. i wont buy lg anything again.

    • HeatFan305

The G2X was awful, but my mom still uses it since I gave mine to her when I upgraded to the HTC Sensation. Now, I am on a Galaxy Note II and I cannot be happier. I just used a Nexus 4 for about a month before the Note II and it wasn’t a bad LG device. The main problems were overheating, the screen’s digitizer was visible, and the camera stunk. Outside of that, the device was good, but it was $300, so how can one expect a perfect phone? They need to ditch the IPS displays badly. Those things are a POS.

    • Cactuscat

A fairly silly statement. So you remember All those people that said they’d never buy a Sammy product ever again? They have back pedaled and purchased one and we don’t hear silly statements from then any more. I had the G2x and while it wasn’t perfect, it made the full two + years without any major problems. What am I sporting now? How about an Optimus G Pro! Bought it outright from ATT, unlocked it and running on Tmo. Full 4G LTE, blazing speed, 1080p 5.5″ monster. Don’t want an LG phone? Your loss…

      • Alex L.

Silly statement? I think not. I could care less that you got yourself an lg phone on att and unlocked it. I was never one of those people that said they would never buy a samsung product again. They could stand to update touchwiz though. As for the 5.5 inch phone?im glad you enjoy a tablet that makes phone calls. Bet you look like an idiot holding it to your head while using it as a phone. And as for lg making good products? Meh, nothing they have made looks remotely interesting to me, including the n4

        • JustDozi

Hahhahahahahahahahha why try to force your preference on others then insult their preferences.. ahahahahhahhahahahaha the internet is hilarious

        • Trevnerdio

The Note II is amazing, just sayin’. And no, people don’t look stupid holding it up to their heads. But LG left a bad taste in my mouth after the G-Slate…I’ve had trust issues with them since haha

      • Trevnerdio

Who said that about Samsung? I’ve had then since the S2 and I’ve never had any problems with them. They’ve all been great phones.

    • qpinto

quite frankly that was an LG vs Nvidia issue on drivers. otherwise the phone was great. with 2.2 and 2.3, LG did an amazing job with it hardware wise and software wise. it became an issue once 4.0 was announced, It was promised 4.0, but never got it here in the US. LG has done an amazing job with the N4, and i wouldn’t hesitate to buy another LG phone.

    • gentleman559

LG has come a long ways since then. The Nexus 4 was a fantastic device, just saying.

  • Black TheBadGuy

    HTC G2 >>>> LG G2

  • Juan Pablo Darquea

The Best there is the Best there was and the Best will ever be HTC tmobile g2 with stock Android not chip immitation

    • Trevnerdio

      I liked that phone.

    • isaac

still pushing weight on my G2 for budget reasons
sure baby, you need to reboot randomly once a day?
shhhhhhhh, its ok darling, you do what i need.
….that stainless steel battery cover….so sexy.
you and me baby. just me and my little sexy H, T, Ceeeee

  • This is what the nexus 4 should have been

  • gentleman559

Looks like a beautiful device and the specs are awesome but LG never has a big development community with the exception of the Nexus 4, which is disappointing.
