Happy New Year From TmoNews!

Another year in the T-Mobile world gone by and for the first time in recent memory, things are truly looking up for our beloved Magenta. With the promise of Apple Products this year, a brand new CEO and a merger with MetroPCS expected to complete by summer, T-Mobile is poised to turn things around.

As for me, I want to thank everyone, even those of you who laugh at me as a silly iOS fanboy from the bottom of my heart for reading and coming here every day. TmoNews has been a dream come true and I owe all of it to all of you. This truly is an amazing thing to do every day and it’s only with your patience, love, loyalty, engagement and feedback that I’m able to do it. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Now, what are your new years resolutions? Did you make a promise to buy a brand new Android device every month this year? How about finally giving Windows Phone 8 or iOS a chance? My tech goals are to hit inbox zero every day, go as paperless as possible and find a better way to organize my daily work flow. Some of those tasks will be easier than others but they are all something I want to achieve.

So, what’s your tech resolution for the new year?

    Happy New Year, David!

I’ve made a few resolutions that I actually started on before today. 2013 will be a better year in every aspect of my life and those around me because I’m making it happen. :)

Thank you again for the time and energy you put into this site. Some days it seems like such a thankless job. Please know; however, some of us appreciate your opinion (even if it’s not one we share), and appreciate the news you report. There were some exciting stories in 2012. May 2013 bring even more!

I agree with you on that one =]. Different people have differing opinions that doesn’t mean one is good or bad just they we are different and people find different aspects to be good and bad.

2013 is shaping up to be one huge year for T-Mobile, if things go right.

By the end of the first quarter, the refarm/”network modernization” should be complete, which should yield noticeably better coverage for everything but 2G services.

By the end of the second quarter, the Metro deal should be completed. Not only will we have a big boost in customer base and a decent start to our LTE network(which we’ll then continue to build out in the second half of the year), we’ll also start to be publicly traded as our own company, which is spectacular timing for the other really big deal this year …

The iPhone 5S is rumored to launch in May/June. Although some have predicted it still won’t support the AWS band for HSPA+ services, I think it’s more likely that Apple will have a model that will simply extend AWS support from just being LTE to supporting both LTE and HSPA+ services. Huge deal for T-Mobile US, there’s plenty of people that have been waiting a long time for this. If the iPhone 5S truly does launch in May/June with support for T-Mobile’s AWS HSPA+ network, I think that event, combined with the other things happening, will catapult the “T-Mobile will overtake Sprint as #3!” theory from fanboy silliness to a true possibility.

If we can keep up this momentum, who knows how far we’ll go? Here’s to an amazing 2013!
