Blackberry Z10 Shown In Seven Minute Walkthrough Video

The clock is ticking away till January 30th and the official unveiling of Blackberry 10 to the world. One of the anticipated handsets launching that same day is the Z10, better known as the “Lisbon” and coming to T-Mobile in March.

German site Telekom Presse has posted a seven minute walk-through video showing off Blackberry’s upcoming 10 software in great detail. Included with the video is a new set of possible specs, including a 4.2″ 1280×768 display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, microSD slot and 8 megapixel camera.

The video doesn’t show anything we haven’t already had a chance to see in piecemeal since Blackberry introduced 10 to the world some time ago. However, it’s nice to see everything tied together in a single video even if it’s in a foreign language and I have no idea what is being said.

The video clocks in at 7:29 and its a good long look at a future T-Mobile device. See anything you like?

  • Are we sure that isn’t an iPhone5 running BB10? Apple’s lawyers are all building new vaults to store the bags of cash Apple will pay them to sue RIM…

    • thepanttherlady

      • Sad part is he is probably right on point lol

        • agreed. The body of the phone is very similar to the iphone. While it does have some innovative things about it, it still seems to have some ios foundation. shrugs

        • ObfuscatedBologna

I think the Bezel and lack of a home button is enough to get away with any design similarities.

        • Huh?

Wasn’t samsung sued because of a ROUNDED RECTANGLE? What’s this if not that.

        • Thats exactly what i’m saying

        • SoulDeLa

it lookslike a flat droid x. actually, I wouldnt be suprised if motogoog didnt say something before apple.

    • TechHog

Looks different enough to me. The shape and color are the only similarities…

      • “different enough” isn’t in apple’s vocabulary. Size, shape, color, even two different materials on back in different gloss. Very iPhone like in design

        • ObfuscatedBologna

The London leaks were out well before iPhone 5 was shown, so they can go to the hell. They have all of the Internet to pull the leaks out from pre-iPhone 5 and show them off.

  • A$AP Chris

All this time waiting for that? *yawn*

  • thepanttherlady

Stop teasing me and just bring the dang thing to T-Mobile! =D

    • Zacamandapio

      I concur.

    • We don’t sell blackberry @ T-Mobile .. Blackberry was going downhill & the 9900 killed it … The new blackberry isn’t going to have a chance cause most reps are gonna say don’t buy it.

      • thepanttherlady

I honestly don’t care what the reps tell me about this. 9 out of 10 times I have to educate the rep themselves about a phone. I’m buying it. Period.

        • Foxeh

No kidding, pantherlady. Granted your stats are better than mine. I think it has been no less than *three* years since I’ve talk to a T-Mobile rep who didn’t get the facts all wrong. I’m literally at the point where I just tell them not to talk to me while I shop. >_<

        • zacamandapio

I agree with you. Besides me being a technology addict, I know my way around all of the OSes. So yes, I’ve even helped some Reps help customers.
And I’m buying three of them at launch date.

      • ObfuscatedBologna

That’s fine. Even if they like the Blackberry 10, they won’t say much about it after years of supporting Android or Apple. It’ll be embarrassing. If they really are so negative about it, then that usually means that a) they are irrational and/or b) acting out over a phone they don’t want to praise.

      • Scott Walsh

Very true Moses JC, BB needs to hang it up, they are a done deal!

  • Zacamandapio

    I want it NOW!!!

  • sidekicker89

    Ich kann Deutsch verstehen! :)

    • thepanttherlady

I’m half German and wish I could. Too bad they didn’t offer it as an elective in High School. :/

      • sidekicker89

haha they didn’t offer it in my high school either but I’ve been taking it in College. It’s hard but my teacher is funny :)

  • Hope this new OS for Blackberry pulls them out of the hole. The new hardware isn’t over the top like many other new devices are coming out with but it is much more impressive than anything Rim has ever pushed out. The Blackberry diehard fans should jump all over these new phones. Rim needs this to sell and sell big. Good Luck Rim.

    • The thing is, a well designed mobile OS shouldn’t need a quad-core. My thoughts are that this will be efficient and provide EXCELLENT battery life.

  • bisayan

Video is no longer available?or is it just me?

    • thepanttherlady

Videos are blocked by IT here at work but it’s working on my cell just fine.

  • Mark

I think I heard him say it’s running an OMAP processor. Given TI is leaving the mobile OMAP business, what are they planning longer term to drive the thing?

    • Zacamandaio

      I thought it was Qualcomm.

  • Whiskers

Can someone help me out here.
What is the OS on a Blackberry phone , Linux ?
I have never owned a Blackberry device and would seriously like to know.

    • D Velasquez

is something of their own, previous versions were based on Java I think , this new version I think is QNX

    • Zacamandapio

It’s QNX. A Linux based OS.
That’s why lots of people see many similarities with Palm OS (Linux based as well).

      • Whiskers

        Thank You.

      • James h Jackson jr

It has more in common with Nokia n9

      • James h Jackson jr

It has more in common with Nokia n9 swipedotnokiadotcom look at the similarities between 2 operating systems

  • I can’t wait to get my hands on this device! I just hope that I can adjust, coming from a GNote 2 as my daily driver, lol.

    • auser72

After using Note for the past 3 months, even my wife sg3 felt small. Ain’t no going back after the Note. ….lol.

      • lol, agreed. Can’t even use my S3 anymore, lol. But I do want to get this one, just because I enjoy BB. I’m hoping that BB10 is REALLY nice!

      • AllThingsReviewed215

Exactly. Anything besides the note feels like a downgrade. I held a sgs3 it felt like a iphone and i held the iphone and it felt like a hp veer lol

  • Not bad! I like…. the only matter is the app market size….. of course build it and they will come but I want to know when to get a jumpstart..

    • ObfuscatedBologna

Rumor has it that Skype might be available. Online/Offline icons were discovered in the latest update, so the BB Contacts can store that information for Skype integration.

  • TBN27

    I am officually undecided now.

  • BigMixxx

either he is bigfoot with those hands….or that’s phone is tiny…

otherwise…looks nice! RIM I thought yall were gone. you might have a chance against big bad android….and you may be the device to kill Windows mobile…

    • steveb944

I thought the same thing but those hands look pretty large. It is 4.2″ after all

    • Windoze Sucks Donkey Balls

Windows Mobile is doing fine killing itself

      • jay_max

There hasn’t been a Windows Mobile phone on the market for at least a couple of years.

        • semantics

wow aren’t you clever. windows phone, ok? either way, it sucks and its killing itself off

  • moises1204

do you still have to pay for that stupid blackberry plan in order to get emails and bbm?

    • ObfuscatedBologna

Maybe. Maybe not. Do you still pay that stupid data plan in order to get your e-mails/browsing? Yep, so stop whining.

      • moises1204

can you please tell me how asking a question is whining to you? and sorry if i offended your beloved blackberry, but to me if you still have to pay for a service that it’s basically free with other devices to me it is stupid, oops sorry i said it again!!

        • thepanttherlady

Data isn’t free regardless of what OS you choose. And to check emails and browse, you need data.

If I remember correctly (it’s been a few years since I’ve had a BB), you had to have the BB data instead of regular data which was the same price. Will there be an unlimited BB data plan as well? If not, that may be the deal breaker on this phone for me.

        • Foxeh

Just ask a rep in the store when the time comes. If they tell you that you do need a Blackberry plan, then you know the regular data plan will work!

          (sorry, I just had to)

        • thepanttherlady

          Ask a rep?!!? *mean face*

I’m confident that there will be BB data plans that are equivalent to the regular data plans (e.g. unlimited).

        • David

There are. I have a BB 9900 on T-mobile and all the same data plans for other platforms are available to me…it’s just going through BB servers…data compression is nice. It’s also nice as I can use the same data for my BB tablet without paying extra by using the BB bridge app.

        • Zacamandapio

I’ve an unlimited data with BB. And it’s more economical than using any other OS because of the compression thru their servers.

        • thepanttherlady

I posted on another section that I was confident they’d have an equivalent so I’m happy to see this confirmation.

The last BB I had (with T-Mobile) was the Sunset Red (I think that’s what it was called) Curve. Am so hoping T-Mo will get the white Z10 or “Lisbon” (wish they’d stick with Z10).

        • moises1204

BlackBerry plan cost about 10 to 15 dollar more if I am not mistaken, but I could be wrong, but that is why I was asking in the first place.

        • thepanttherlady

I’ve never been charged more for BB vs. any other OS in the past.

I just went to and went through the motions of adding a BB & then a Samsung phone to my cart and picked out plans/data. The prices were the same.

        • moises1204

Well that’s is good then, because I like the look of this new blackberry but I heard that you have to get a blackberry plan which usually cost a little more than the regular plan, but thanks for the info though, see how easy it was?

    • ziggy123

Funny how most of the responders to your comment are so oblivious to what you are actually asking. As you pointed out, BB data plans typically cost ~$10-15 more than regular plans (across tiers). Beyond that, most BB apps requiring an internet connection (e.g. gmail) will not work without blackberry internet service (BIS) even if you have a working wifi connection.

To answer your question, late last December RIMM CEO announced that starting with BB10, they would tier service fees. Many speculate this may allow for a watered down free tier that would at least allow basic services–albeit without some of the desirable extras like BBM.

  • nerdlust

My first smartphone was a bb 8100 so I have a soft spot for them but I’m so into android now that it will be hard to switch back. I will check out to see . I have the HTC sensation but that note2 keeps calling me..

  • His accent was a chore had to skim thru. The gesture swipe to turn on the screen was cool. Other than that I’m ok and I couldn’t imagine a device with such a small screen size. Hopefully they make something much larger

  • rubenstinejr

to be honest I would pick Windows device over this. bb just seems more businessy type.

    • Foxeh

I wouldn’t. I would totally ditch my Windows Phone device for this!

  • James

I am not impressed with the device based on the video. The hardware has a screen that is smaller than iphone 5. The new OS looks way too confusing for people to remember how to get to the basics like settings. This swiping from all corners to get to do things is not my cup of tea.

    • James h Jackson jr

Iphone 5 has 4 inch screen the blackberry one has 4.2 inch screen so its actually a lil bigger not smaller

    • ObfuscatedBologna

So you’re not smart enough for the phone? People aren’t idiots. A simple phone is a boring phone.

  • Jay J. Blanco

Can’t wait until they get the demo in the store so I can play with it

  • James h Jackson jr

It looks and works almost exactly to my meego harmattan Nokia n9 so ill prob jump on it cause us Nokia n9 users are used to the swipe operating system google Nokia n9 and watch a youtube video of it and see where rim got its inspiration from

  • James h Jackson jr

Rims os is basically nokias meego os updated a lil from the n9 phone

  • steveb944

I’m loving that lock screen, it’s pretty neat.

I’ll be making sure to recommend this device to people, I prefer this over Windows OS any day. It makes me miss my first smartphone, faithful pearl flip.

  • Go Thorsten

Looks really really good. Like a cross between Android and webOS

  • Mirad77

I’ll wait till after the quarterly reports are out then I’ll know if they have a future or not. But initial prospects are not bad.

  • Scott Walsh

BlackBerry is dead people, no apps just like Windows. Neither platform has even ONE app that I use with iOS or Android. It’s dead, let it fall.

  • ogopogo

This is THE phone to have. Beyond just the specs, this OS, from what I’ve seen is very fluid. This will, no doubt, be RIM’s savior.

  • AllThingsReviewed215

Nobody is gonna get this shit. Blackberry is doomed. Just die already.

  • ant

lmao samsung mad blackberry n iphone n i think nokia look bad in their new commerical
