Flash Coming to a Smartphone Near You

You may recall a while ago when Adobe’s CEO, Shantanu Narayen, announced in the Q2 audio press release that a version of Flash Player 10 would be available for Smartphone browsers starting this October (during Adobe MAX). Well it’s October now (if you haven’t noticed already), and Adobe Systems Incorporated unveiled Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 software for smartphones today. Windows Mobile (Yay for Touch Pro 2 users) and webOS users will be able to take advantage of the beta which will be available to the public before the end of this year. Then it will be available to Android and Symbian “early” 2010. RIM (Research In Motion) has officially joined the Open Screen Project and will be bringing Adobe Player to BlackBerry (Yup 9700 will be rocking Flash) smartphones in the future.

Bogus… they said we’ll have flash on Android in October.. now it’s early 2010… what’s early? May? June? You never know with these guys.

  • LipGloss712

Oh I thought it would be ready by October.

  • Rick

It was promised this October, back LAST October.

And there were screenshots of a working prototype – which were soon reported to be bogus.

I don’t think they know how to do it yet. I am not hopeful anymore.

Preparing for a flash-less Android experience. Just sounds like they are stuck.

  • no

does the sprint hero come with flash installed?

  • Kickstar13

No it won’t. Android devices will have Flash in early 2010.

  • Just buy a touch pro 2 or a dash 3g and install skyfire. It’s not full flash but it works great.

Like everyone else, I thought they said Android was the first up to bat for Flash, wtf. The company was hoping all us Android users forgot about the whole deal, think again ass wipes. Now we wait. But the good news is that by the time the G1v2 is released by early next year we may very well have flash on it already. Im going to be saying the v2 in every post I do! get you guys pumped

Flash is already here. It is on the hero op system. I am running a hero Rom on my mytouch and have had it for months.
