After releasing the ZTE ZMAX Pro on MetroPCS last year, ZTE has now revealed its latest phablet for prepaid.

The ZTE Blade Z Max will launch on MetroPCS on August 28th for $129. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat on a 6-inch 1920×1080 display and it’s packing an 8-megapixel camera for all of your selfie needs.

Around back there’s a dual rear camera setup with a 16-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. With these two cameras, you can apply effects to your photos like blurry backgrounds and monochrome.

Also included with ZTE’s Blade Z Max is a Snapdragon 435 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage (21GB available to the user), a microSD slot for adding even more storage if you need it, and a rear fingerprint reader. Powering the whole package is a 4080mAh battery, and there’s Quick Charge 2.0 tech included as well so that you can recharge that large battery in a hurry.

The ZTE ZMAX Pro offered features like a large display, microSD slot, and fingerprint reader in an affordable package. While the ZTE Blade Z Max is a bit pricier, it also offers improved features like a larger battery and a dual rear camera setup. So if you’re in the market for an affordable Android phone on MetroPCS, the ZTE Blade Z Max could be worth a look.

Can be used with tmobile sim though, yeah? Seems like tmobile should release this one too.

    • You can buy it from MetroPCS get it unlocked and swap in your T-Mobile sim. Otherwise, gotta wait a few months until the exclusivity runs out before it hits T-Mobile. Plus you’ll be paying more for the phone on T-Mobile than MetroPCS. Last year it $99 on MetroPCS and $179 on T-Mobile. Some people even got the phone for free if they ported their non T-Mobile number and just paid a month of service.

      • Bklynman

Zmax Pro is now $168.00 so this phone should be about $200 to $230 on Tmo,then the price drop should be about $180 to $200? Does Metro sell their phones unlock or you have take it to place that unlock phones?

        • You either stay on MetroPCS 90 days to get it unlocked or you pay the month of service for the phone and look for a device unlock on ebay.

  • dontsh00tmesanta

    Surprisingly good specs.

3gb ram would have been nice

    • Bklynman

I think the reason why cell phone makers, make their midlevel phones with 2gb ram instead of 3 is because then who would buy their overprice super phones, that 6months later a new one come out to replace it?

      • dontsh00tmesanta

        yup

    • riverhorse

      yes, and more storage.

      • Andrew Addison

It has all the storage you can use. Stop being so ungrateful. You are still able to have expansion to 128gb of storage. Get a larger SD card, its that simple.

        • riverhorse

sd card is slower…and can go bad. Also, depending on Android version and rootability, many apps cannot go on external.
Learn more about phones before spouting off, and more importantly, STOP BEING SO RUDE.

        • Andrew Addison

Noooo not slower at all. As long as you are able to clean your cookies/cache/deleted unwanted files using virus software, should help keep your sd card and everything up to speed. Whether it be the sd card or not, if you are not keeping up with the maintenance work on both your sd or phone is whe it will all go bad. Face Facts. If you have a card that is 40gb storage or 64 gb storage, then you should be fine and ready to go. No one is rude trust that part Buddy.

      • dontsh00tmesanta

for the price 32gb isnt bad considering the amount of flagships still offering it

  • riverhorse

Basically the same as the previous zmax pro, EXCEPT for larger battery with a little faster charging, better / more cameras, and a little more resolution. That’s it…no larger sizing, no extra ram or storage, still no NFC.
To say nothing of only Nougat and locked tight bootloader.
I realize the low price but I would pay double that for a real upgrade.

    • Andrew Addison

No it is not the same phone. Wrong. Not the exact same phone. Yes it has Finger Print, Advanced Messaging, Video Calling, Enhanced Voice Services, VoLTE, Wifi Calling, HD Voice. Bigger camera 16mp, 8mp front, 2mp front, bigger battery life, 7.1.1 nougat, better capacity internal storage. It does have a larger size screen phone at 6 inches. What are you talking about? At least it is 2GB ram and has Better camera/storage quality with Better battery life. The phone can still move fast too.

      • riverhorse

You’re starting to irritate me. I HAVE THE ZMAX PRO. I think you’re confusing it with the very first ZTE on Metro, just previous to it.

        • Andrew Addison

No Im not at all. This one here is way Better than the ZTE ZMAX Pro with less battery life, featurings which stands to have less featurings. This phone right here is more powerful, durable, Finger print with dual camera. Boy please do your research. I love getting you irritated, because you tend to lie about certain things. lol This phone even comes with 7.1.1 Nougat like I says with Band 66 spectrum with a touch of LTE-U. Faster/durable. ZTE was just less powerful with issues here or there. Face facts and no need to catch an attitude either. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SPECS BRO. NOT THE SAME PHONE AS THE VERY FIRST PHONE WITH T-MOBILE-METROPCS. THE FIRST ONE DID NOT HAVE THE LATEST RADIOS TO FREQUENCIES THAT T-MOBILE-METROPCS NOW HAS.

        • Matt

It’s still not enough for me to go and buy it. I would consider if the phone offered 600mhz compatibility for the new spectrum.

        • riverhorse

I’m gonna get it because i just cracked my phone–rather than fix or trade in… this one has more resolution, battery and faster charging.
It’ll make a decent holdover until a bunch of 6″+ phablets get released later this year. What really bugs me is no NFC & no way of rooting, so like i said, holdover for a few months.

        • Andrew Addison

This still considered a phablet. 6 inch. More like a plus, due to the way its built. NFC, I could careless about though.

      • Bklynman

The ZMax pro,has 6’screen,32 gigs, and 2 gigs of ram,it also come with Nougat. I believe. So where do you get it has bigger storage, and bigger screen?
        They both have 6″ screen.

        • Andrew Addison

The 6 inch was me referring to the bigger screen. 6 inch is more than enough. Heller Big. Bigger storage compacity up to 128 for external use and 32. This phone here is more advanced verses the previous zte zmax pro phone has. This phone comes with 7.1.1 nougat verses regular 7.0 Nougat. Boy Please.

  • mavricxx

Too bad it doesn’t have 3 or 4gb RAM but I really hope they bring it to T-Mobile too.

    • Andrew Addison

2GB is more than enough power to make use of.

      • Bklynman

Really? Then why do all flagship phones have 3 or more?

        • Andrew Singleton

same reason sony had a 21mp camera. marketing.

        • Bklynman

Not sure about that, the reviews I have read about about midlevels phones with 1 to 2 gigs of ram, some work great others so-so,so not sure if it the make or model,or some people just get bad one,but some people get the same model for replacement they still have the same problem.

        • riverhorse

Too much trolling on here. You are right about the ram– 2 is not enough anymore. And even the chintzy storage space is not enough.
Not today– especially with heavy use and lots of apps.

        • Andrew Addison

It is enough RAM. 2GB is more than enough. Whose trolling? Nooo one is.

        • Andrew Addison

That is not always true. From 2GB to 4GB Ram can still get a bad experience with their devices. It’s the 1GB ram devices are the ones you have to worry about for the most part.

        • Andrew Addison

This phone is still considered a flagship. You should be lucky that this has more compacity than most other low end phones or some midranged phones. You probably are needing a phone that is a Note or something. Be thankful.

        • Bklynman

Most midlevel phones come with 32 gigs now 2 gigs of ram, look at Revvl, the Stylo 3 plus. None of these phone are flagship phones. ZTE flagships phones you have buy them unlock either by Amazon,or Bestbuys etc.

        • Andrew Addison

Flag ship still. Face Facts. It is still considered a flagship. All of those other phones there are also considered Flagship.

        • Bklynman

No they are not,Lg doesnot market Stylo phones as flagship. Revvel someone said it is made by Coolpad, maybe it is Coolpad flagship phone,(no one who read tech blogs, would think Coolpad up there with Samsung,HTC,Nokia etc.) ZTE Axon 7 was their last flagship phone.

        • Andrew Addison

Yes they are considered Flagships. They are considered between High End/Low End Phones. They are more powerful than most previous Midranged to Low Eng phones that had less capabilities. They may not claim it as a Flagship, but it is still considered a Flagshipped phone, due to the way the phones are built.

    • riverhorse

It would go for at least $200 on Tmo, so you could buy it on Metro @ $30 plan for one month only, pay for unlock code on Ebay, and still have money left over.

      • ChristianMcC

No need to unlock it to take it to TMO.

        • Bklynman

I thought they pass a law if you buy a phone outright, the carrier suppose to unlock for you right then and there for you if you ask them to?

        • :)

Not here. MetroPCS phones are “subsidized” so not full price.

        • Bklynman

          That sucks! LoL

        • Ashraf Shaheen

Yes you will need to unlock a MetroPCS phone to work on T-Mobile. Reason being the phone is alot cheaper with MetroPCS and to avoid customers getting it cheaper with Metro they lock it. Now metro service works on t-mobile phone no problem.

        • rc cl

Has to be unlocked to use on tmobile just like i had to with zmax pro at a cost of 15$whemn it first came out. Now the eBay unlock cost is arround 30$ for this new blade z max.

    • steveb944

Considering the processor, 2 is plenty.

  • Matt

Will it support the upcoming 600Mhz spectrum?

  • Matt

The processor is only a Snapdragon 435 which is a significant downgrade from the 617 of the ZMAX Pro. You basically get a slower phone in exchange for a better camera.

    • Bklynman

I always look at phones like this,it is a phone, not a camera,i just shake my head when people complain about the cameras on phones.

    • Andrew Addison

No actually it is not a downgrade. Its a Octacore processor that is the same as the 617, with less overheating. The bigger the number does not mean bigger capacity. lol This phone is not even slower you delusional human being.

  • JohnnySocko

No NFC? Absolute dealbreaker in 2017, regardless of price. Here’s another manufacturer sending me an explicit message to not buy their phone.

    • TechnoRealz

No1 asked you to the party! LOL@u!

  • :)

Do METRO PCS phones run same ROM as T-mobile phones with just an added MetroPCS splash screen?

  • Bklynman

Also Alex doesnot mention you get $25 gift card for Google Play Store. For $129.It is worht taking a looking at,but 1st I would wait and see if it gets Oreo or not later on,see what the review say about it. Forget it,it was only for pre-register,it is over with. Alex drop the ball again.
