T-Mobile’s “10GB for $100” Family Plan offer set to end on October 29

Screen Shot 2014-10-20 at 21.03.57

Just a couple of months back, T-Mobile kicked off an offer whereby customers who chose the the lowest Simple Choice plan and took a 4-line family plan, would get an extra 1.5GB per line. In all, instead of paying $100 and getting 4GB (1GB each), customers would get 2.5GB  data to use on each line, up until the January 1st, 2016. Additional data was also made available on 4-line plans on the second tier, giving customers 4.5GB per line instead of just 3GB. So, for $140 per month, you’d get a total of 18GB per month. Now it looks like the offer is about to end.

If an internal memo doing the rounds at T-Mo is anything to go by, T-Mobile is going to be ending the offer on October 29th.

Final Week! 4 Lines for $100 w/10GB Data Feature & Other Promo Offers to be Grandfathered October 29 (Retail, TPR, TPRi, EDPC)

On October 29, the following will be grandfathered, which means this is the last chance to offer customers the 4 Lines for $100 with 10GB data offer!

  • Promo $100 4 – 5 Line Family plan
  • Promo $0 2.5GB data feature
  • Promo $10 4.5GB data feature

Important: Other family plans will still be available on October 29, including the 2 – 5 Line Family plan and 6+ Line Family plans. This means that customers can still get 4 lines for $100 with our standard data features.”

We’re told that once that date swings by, plans will return to what they were before. The lowest two plans will offer 1GB and 3GB of data per line, regardless of how many lines are added. Perhaps an indication that T-Mo has something else up its sleeve for this fall.

Fear not if you’ve already signed up, you are grandfathered in and will keep your bonus data up until January 1st 2016, as stated in the original terms of the offer. But, if you’re holding off on signing up, you don’t have long before T-Mo pulls the offer from its retail and online stores.

So if u had ten lines u get 4.5 g of Internet?

    • JamesG

      No….

  • Jimmy jam

Sorry if you have a total of ten lines you will get 4.5g of Internet?

    • Roger Sales

if you pay 10$ more for a line than the standard hundred, that line gets 4.5$GB(IE: 110$, 1 line 4.5GB, the rest 2.5)

      • anony mouse

or just refer someone and get unlimited :)

        • Chris

          say what?

    • Singleweird

10 lines? no. everyone would get 2.5GB each @ $160. 4.5 costs 10 more per line that wants it.

  • enoch861

For whatever reason, trying to change the plan online comes out to be more expensive because for whatever reason it’s not factoring in lines 3 and 4.
    Anyone have this issue?
Kind of makes it a turn off to try and change the plan online.

    • CalicoKJ

I was able to change mine online (5 lines total) without a problem, but I did it last month. (No, that shouldn’t make a difference, but who knows what’s been programmed in the meantime.)

      • enoch861

        Mine says current total: 135
        New total: 155
Shouldn’t it stay the same technically? We have 5 lines plus Home phone thing for $5 extra and one line having extra data.

        • stasek

Call the customer service! I just converted mine (4 lines) and added additional 2gb for yours truly for $10. Great deal.

    • Baz

Just got back from my local TMo store, and had the same issue.

Trying to convert from the old 1k Value Plan to the new Simple Choice promo on our preexisting 5 lines family plan.

      Old total: 125 (before taxes)
      New total: 158 (before taxes)
It should be 110 for 5 lines.

The store manager couldn’t even figure it out. Not sure what’s happening here. Help please!

      • phil

call customer care and ask for billing department. Stores are sales and customer care is billing.

      • Singleweird

        it shows 80 + 10 + 10 + 10. your rep was not too smart.

        • Nemesai

Sounds like a system issue, which does happen, so I don’t think intelligence has anything to do with this. Should they have called into customer care and had it taken care of? Yes.

      • Nurdface Gamerhandz

System shows it wrong coming from old plans to new sometimes, it definitely does not cost that much. Also make sure you don’t have insurance, etc. as that shows in the plan, the plan only includes the talk, text, and data features.

    • Joe Z

I had that issue. Call customer care and they will take care of it. Worked for me.

      • Joe Z

Actually, now that I remember I didn’t call in. It was taken care of over the online customer care chat feature.

    • Joe

All of the lines have to be set to primary lines for the plan to work. $100 is for all the lines, and the data plan is $0. In our systems at the stores, that’s how we have to set it up in the system for it to work. Just call 611 or go to a store and the more seasoned employees know exactly what to do.

  • This is a good plan.

  • Philip

Can I do this $100 4 line plan with a govt discount?

    • Stephen Lee

      i am

    • Singleweird

      yes

    • Mike Palomba

How did you guys get the govt discount? I applied and it says I’m eligible but it’s not being applied and the T-Mo reps have no idea what’s going on

      • Philip

Go to Tmobile government website. Put in your .gov email and Tmo will sent it to your office email. Reply from there and confirm and thats it.

        • Mike Palomba

Do you have a link? Because all I could find is the government advantage program and that’s what signed up for. When you but the link put the .com in parenthesis or else it won’t post

        • thepanttherlady

I’ll approve it when I see it come through.

        • Mike Palomba

          You work for T-Mobile?

        • thepanttherlady

LOL, no sorry. I meant the link when the op posts it. :)

        • Mike Palomba

Oh thank you so much I really appreciate it

        • Third_Eye

In my case, I was in a private enterprise that had the discount available. The Employee portal had a section called “Employee Discounts” which lists all possible discounts that we can avail with different merchants/service providers. If you do not have that you can call HR and ask them if they know.

There would be 1800 number for T-Mo too. The link just describes what is it you have to do and guides you to the 1800 number and talk to them. And in some cases they might have a dedicated CSO (Customer Service Officer) for your company.

They would ask for your Employee ID as well as Organization for verification. Then in a few days reply back stating SUCCESS or FAILURE. In my case the discount was applied within 3 weeks even though the official note up to 2 billing cycles.

          Good Luck!

          PS:
I am right now grandfathered to my corp discount as T-Mo no longer allows corp discounts except for Military and maybe Government,
To retain this, I have to periodically verify my employment with my current company, whenever T-Mo sends me a postal mail/email asking for verification.

        • JaswinderSinghJammu

Mike you can call CS and they give you a fax number to send in your work badge. I work for county and the email didn’t work since my county doesn’t have a specific agreement with T Mobile. When I sent in the badge they are giving me a general State of California discount of 15%. It helps a little bit for sure.

        • Mike Palomba

Do you happen to know the fax number? I tried asking the csr’a for it but they said that they don’t have one

        • JaswinderSinghJammu

I am looking. It’s been a while since I had to resend them copy of the badge. Are you federal, state or local city/county employee?

        • Mike Palomba

I’m a teacher for the state of new york

        • JaswinderSinghJammu

Visit http://www.t-mobile.com/corpdiscount. It has the online form you need to complete and there is also a e verification process. Hope this helps. When you go to that link it will have to login with your account access.

        • Mike Palomba

When I click the link it says page not found

        • thepanttherlady
        • Mike Palomba

          That worked. Thank you!

        • JaswinderSinghJammu

I sent you a link but it says waiting for approval

        • Mike Palomba

          Thanks

        • Brooke

No, you cannot get the govt discount. I was told by TMobile today that this family plan cannot be combined with other discounts and this includes the Govt discount. If you hear otherwise, let me know.

        • Philip

Here it is: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-9747 I didn’t have to fax in my badge. Just put in your work email.

    • monkeybutts

Yes you get it for $85 plus taxes. Govt discount is 15% in most states but 17% in Texas I think

      • Brooke

No. I was told by TMobile today that this family plan cannot be combined with other discounts and this includes the Govt discount. If you hear otherwise, let me know.

    • Brooke

I was told by TMobile today that this family plan cannot be combined with other discounts and this includes the Govt discount.

  • shamatuu

Why cancel this plan?, If they were smart they would keep it around forever.

    • JamesG

      Because it ends in 2016….

      • GreatTVDude

They’ll offer something else in/by 2016. Otherwise, everyone would jump the shark. This is, of course, assuming that other networks, mostly Sprint, keep competing. I think they still will, though.

  • tmolover31

If the plan to stop offering the $100 10GB family plan really is an indication that T-Mobile has something else up its sleeve, maybe it is to try to beat Sprint by changing the basic 1GB Simple Choice Plan to unlimited. I might be asking for too much, but maybe they will also have it include unlimited mobile hotspot, and maybe even change their standalone mobile hotspot service to unlimited. If they did all of that, we would say goodbye to our local cable company forever.

    • an0nim0

If we all did that, we would say goodbye to our fast wireless data network.

    • m

T-Mobile’s (or any carrier’s) network can’t support the load that comes from home internet usage. I routinely use over 500gb a month, and that’s without any sort of crazy P2P downloading. The average data usage would go up exponentially.

At least for now, what you’re suggesting is technologically impossible.

  • so where

btw you can get this deal even if you are a current customer. We have 4 lines and called in to ask for that extra data. gave it to us no problem.

  • GreatTVDude

I think they’ll have some sort of promotion going on. It’s not like they’re going to just stop marketing. Perhaps they’ll change it from this promotion to a “free SIM card with new activation” or something. There’s always some sort of thing going on to bring in new customers.

  • druff

I am currently on this promotion with 6 lines. If I add an additional line after 10/29 will it get 1GB or 2.5GB?

    • GreatTVDude

The data allowance is per line, so a new line would get 1GB. The other lines would remain at 2.5GB. I’m not 100% on this, but that’s my understanding.

  • Archon

Had an old even-more plan. 1500 minutes, 4 lines. one line with texting and a $20 Mytouch Web Plan. Yes, pretty old – but cost only 99.99. I wound up upgrading (though it cost me $110 since I asked for the 2gb extra of net access) since I just found out that my wife has learned the joy of texting (and she doesnt have a texting plan!). So, unlimited calls, unlimited text, and now she has web access too. Not a bad deal. Switched yesterday (oct 21)

  • SamRod

Hello. I’m a recent-new T-Mobile customer. Any current T-Mobile customers want to get $25 credit on their bill and also Unlimited Data? Email me at sam_from_la(at)yahoo.com. Thanks.
