HTC Sensation 4G Coming To Target, $199.99 Price Tag In Tow

Update: A number of you are pointing out the “061211″ stick on the front of the price label. While it’s totally possible that is a reference to a release date the 12th of June is a Sunday which is not a typical launch for T-Mobile. T-Mobile phones typically launch on a Wednesday or Saturday but Target may want to launch the device in combination with their Sunday circular so it’s something to consider!

Those of you eagerly awaiting the arrival of the HTC Sensation 4G will be happy to know that thanks to a leaked screenshot acquired by the boys at AndroidCentral the HTC Sensation 4G will arrive at $199.99. Since the entire price tag is a little hard to read we can’t be sure that price isn’t after a mail in rebate. We should also remind our readers that  the leaked price of a third party retailer may be different than that of the T-Mobile mothership. All that’s left to do now is nail down a release date.

  • rwc

    How about 6 12 11?

    • http://tmonews.com David

I noticed that too, but T-Mobile phones usually release on Wednesdays or Saturdays so I don’t know?!

      • Mikex915

How long before the actual release date does Tmo usually announce there phones David?

        • http://tmonews.com David

There is no rhyme or reason to their announcements. Sometimes it’s two days before and sometimes its a month.

        • http://twitter.com/DroidMatters DroidMatters.Com

Hey David, do you remember that Google Ad where it mentioned June 8 as the release date for the Sensation. It may come out on Sunday at Target but Wednesday June 8th at T-Mobile. 8 as the release date for the Sensation. It may come out on Sunday at Target but Wednesday June 8th at T-Mobile.

I am guessing the T-Mobile official release in stores will be June 15th. Remember though, sometimes Radio Shack and Best Buy in the past have had Sunday releases a few days before T-Mobile Release dates. In the past when this has happened they have allowed Retail Stores to sell early. I think this happened with the MyTouch 4G if I remember right…

Normally Wal-mart puts their $199.99 on contract price at $178.88 or whatever the oddball number is, so the Sensation may actually be $249.99

    • Anonymous

But this is Target so what does Wal-Mart have to do with it?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

Misread.. xD.. I.. retract my comment, used to leaks from Wal-mart and just assumed after I skimmed the article. :X

Lol it’s ok I was drunkish when I wrote that. I had to triple take to make sure I was reading right.

    Dear HTC,

Please unlock your bootloader so I won’t have to settle for a Galaxy S2. I really don’t want to support Samsung… but I will if you make me.

    Kind Regards,
    Me

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

Doesn’t Samsung lock Bootloaders as well? Well at least (if it falls in line with the Vibrant) it’ll function with At&t 3G.

      • Anonymous

The bootloader on the SGSII is unlockable.

      • Danishswag

Galaxy SII is unlocked, at least the international version is

    • http://twitter.com/borodin1 Eugene Borodin

Settle?  I would prefer SGSII over Sensation most likely.  Unfortunately, there’s no concrete proof that it will come to T-mobile and I will not buy one from overseas…. I need my T-mobile warranty and CS :-)

      • Anonymous

I really hate the fact that the Galaxy line resembles the iphone.  I mean, really hate.

      • Rizo

Settle? Yes. I know that the SGS2 is better than the Sensation. However, I don’t want to support Samsung phones again. As for the SGS2 coming to T-Mob, look at the OG Galaxy S… It came to all major carriers in the US. I would expect the same with the SGS2.

        • http://twitter.com/borodin1 Eugene Borodin

You know… I was the same way (HTC all the way, never other brand) but HTC is really letting me down lately….

HTC cameras – crap (even with flash)
          HTC speakers – crap
          Internal storage – crap
          Locked bootloader – uber crap.

Dust under screens, display issues, button squeaks, ambient light sensors… their quality is really down.  I don’t know of too many HTC phones that were updated to GB yet neither.

OTH, Samsung is really doing it right at this point.  True, GPS problems plagued Vibrants, Behold II did not get updated as promised but they have really been on top of things lately (especially considering that the whole Galaxy S update deal was due to carriers, SIM-free european Galaxies were updated long time ago and, I think, they’re being  updated to GB now as well)

All in all, Samsung is currently winning, HTC needs to step up their game.

        • Rizo

I really couldnt agree with you more Eugene… If Htc decides to unlock the bootloader, I am hoping that the sensation is the phone that proves your statement wrong…

  • http://twitter.com/Rizoh66 Rizo

This phone is coming. I like the 6/12 date. It’s possible Tmobile could still launch the phone on 6/8.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

      Probably 6/8, Wednesday.

  • Anonymous

yeah, because its so hard to read!

  • http://twitter.com/NuoTang Nuo Tang

I think 6/8 is definitely a possibility. Also, it’s not like Target has never released a circular that says in stores on Tuesday or Wednesday blah blah for other products.  Whether it’s 6/8 or 6/12, it’s very exciting.

  • StanSmith

Take thus with a grain of salt guys, but I called in to T-Mobile to change my plan to something a bit cheaper and asked about the Sensation. The woman I had on the phone said that there was an internal memo floating around saying that T-Mobile is to start pre-orders for the Sensation next week.

  • Jay

I want to buy the G2X but this is coming out. Is one better then the other?

    • http://hand-gadget.com Alex Nguyen

Read this…it might help you decide: http://wp.me/p1wchx-x

Bigger screen and Sense 3.0 vs. a smaller screen and “stock” Android.

Not really better IMO but different strokes for different folks. I would choose Sensation.

    • Anonymous

G2X is a hell of a dev community phone.  It has so much support already I’m finding it difficult to switch to the Sensation (I do like the HTC form factor better than the LG).  Also, have you ever played your emulators on a big screen?  I have  ;) to the Sensation (I do like the HTC form factor better than the LG).  Also, have you ever played your emulators on a big screen?  I have  ;)

  • Pinxeido

i cant wait to do a battle between… my g2x and the htc sensation. i will have the htc sensation on the day it comes out, so watch my channel on you tube “pinxeido”.

  • Drez

6/12/11…… hmmm…. thats the sunday after 6/8/11 which is the wednesday that google said. Maybe target releases their phones sundays… and since they cant release b4 tmo… they have to settle for the 12th…

  • Anonymous

most likely that an upgrade contract or a new customer contract price. there no way in hell that a no contract price. these articles are a tease. lol.

    • Mack

Obviously, they never list the off-contract price in bold.  Prob it will be $500-600.

  • bbean

Having worked at this place when I was young, I would say that the 061211 is most likely when they want this sign displayed. It may be I coordination with the Sunday ad but may not be the release date. I would speculate though that it should have been released sometime before this sign being put up.

can wait to buy this phone.
    mt4g>sensation 4g

  • Torn

I’m so torn between this and the mt4g slide arghh.. I’m really considering buying both and playing sim(card) tag lol.. One thing is for sure though: I’ll def be putting in alot of o.t. To finance my phone addiction lol..

    At&T-mobile f.t.l.(for the loss!).. lol

  • guest

sensation only vga ffc  vs 1.3 mp g2x . i?s the sensation going to support 3g at&t bands? anybody

    • Anonymous

      no

  • William

I would strongly urge anyone thinking of getting this phone to choose something else like the g2x. As awesome as it is looking, part of what makes android so great is freedom, and the difficulties presented with hacking this phone are enormous. There will be virtually no community effort behind it. So even if you don’t plan on rooting your phone, vote with your wallet and show HTC that we want phones we can call our own.

    Thanks for listening.

    • Anonymous

lol, g2x doesn’t have anything on the sensation but vanilla android. Sensation will be hacked as right now it is HTC’s flagship phone.

    • General_Ization

I think you meant to say “part of what makes android so great FOR ME is….”.

Alot of us don’t want to be bothered w/ rooting.  Just want a great phone :)

  • Mike
