Today’s the big day, iOS fans: new iPhones are official.
First up, the iPhone 11 is the successor to last year’s iPhone XR. One of its major upgrades is a second rear camera. In addition to its 12MP wide angle camera, Apple is adding a 12MP ultra wide angle cam with a 120-degree field of view to help you fit more into your photos. Apple is adding a dedicated Night Mode, too, to help you get brighter photos with reduced noise in low-light environments.
The front camera on the iPhone 11 has been upgraded, too. The 12MP TrueDepth sensor has wider field of view so that you can fit more people into your selfies, and the camera can record 4K video at 60 frames per second as well as slow-mo video at 120fps.
Inside the iPhone 11 is a new Apple A13 Bionic chip. Made with a 7nm process, Apple touts that the A13 Bionic offers up to 20 percent faster CPU and GPU performance compared to last year’s A12 processor.
The screen on the iPhone 11 is a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display with wide color support and True Tone. Haptic Touch helps you get to app shortcuts from your home screen, and Apple is including improved sound with spatial audio and Dolby Atmos support.
Other notable features of the iPhone 11 include IP68 water and dust resistance and better battery life. Apple says that the battery life on the iPhone 11 will get you up to one hour of extra battery life over the iPhone XR. Also of note are the supported LTE bands for the iPhone 11, which include 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/14/17/18/19/20/25/26/29/30/34/38/39/40/41/42/46/48/66/71. Apple has included support for 2×2 MIMO and LAA, too, as well as dual SIM and eSIM support.
The iPhone 11 will be available in six colors: purple, green, yellow, black, white, and red. Pricing starts at $699 for the 64GB flavor, with 128GB and 256GB models also available for $749 and $849, respectively. Pre-orders start this Friday, September 13, at 5:00 am PT/8:00 am ET, and the new iPhone will start shipping on September 20.
T-Mobile has confirmed that it’ll carry the iPhone 11 with pre-orders beginning this Friday at 5:00 am PT/8:00 am ET. T-Mo says that it’ll share it’s pricing details for the iPhone 11 soon along with an “incredible iPhone offer”.
