T-Mobile announces Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ software updates

galaxys9pluslilacpurple

It looks like the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge aren’t the only Samsung devices being updated on T-Mobile.

T-Mobile has announced new updates for its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The updates are starting to roll out today, says T-Mo’s support pages, so you S9 and S9+ owners should keep an eye out for your update over the coming days. You can also check for updates by going into Settings > Software update > Download updates manually.

The Galaxy S9 update is 343MB and bumps the phone up to version G960USQU2ARC6, while the Galaxy S9+ update is 373MB and is version G965USQU2ARC6. As for what’s included, T-Mo says that both phones are getting “Android security updates” and “Various bug fixes.”

Once your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ gets its update, be sure to let us know!

Thanks, Nick!

I updated my 7 but my 9 isn’t popping up yet

      Same S9+

Hopefully it fixes the blurry photos when flash isn’t used.

I already got the update still on March

  • Chris

I have the S9, and it’s failing to install the update. It runs through the install process to 100% then reboots and starts installing again in an endless cycle. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution for me? I can’t even turn the phone off

    • Paul Hansen

Mine went through just fine. Only reason it should fail is a memory or storage hardware issue. I’d get it swapped.

    • Rick Farrell

Mine is failing also. Gets 25% into installing the update, pauses for a bit, then reboots to start it all over again.

mine is doing the same thing, what did you do

        • Ryan Yongsik Shin

did you install something? or block bloatware? I am scared to update…

Try doing a factory data reset and try again.

      • Meatman1976us

It won’t let you do a master reset . You can’t get into the recovery mode and using the hardware keys do nothing

        • SirStephenH

Sorry, I read your post wrong.

Android usually allows you to get into recovery mode when this happens. Are you sure you’re doing it right? Samsung’s a bit different than other phones.

“Begin by pressing the Power button for a couple of seconds to turn off the phone.

After that hold down Volume Up + Bixby + Power button together for a short while.

When Samsung Logo appears let go of all keys.

If you see the Android logo with “No command” tap on the screen.”

I do tech support and tried all you stated already and nothing has worked , I also took it to a samsung accredited tech store and they couldn’t fix it either, they tried to flash the software back on the phone and it didn’t work. A computer can’t recognize the device long enough for any type of flash. They said the update bricked the phone .

        • SirStephenH

That sucks. I guess your best bet is to contact Samsung or T-Mobile about a replacement then.

    • Meatman1976us

Mine is doing the same . It will not allow you to turn the phone off or get to the recovery screen . I called samsung they are sending me to one of there accredited stores to have my software flashed to fix it

    • Chris

Tmobile online support told me to take it to a store. The store couldn’t figure it out so had to order me a replacement phone. Factory Reset and Safe Mode boots didn’t work and I couldn’t turn off the phone so had to just let the battery drain.

Just received the update and loaded it. I have not had any issues with my S9. I do not see any real changes.

  • Noles

My S9 + freezes everytime I leave split view apps. Hopefully this fixes it.

Got update this morning, now my SD card is not seen. All the pictures and videos on the card are not seen and when I check storage space it only shows the 64GB on the phone, not my 64GB SD card. I plugged the SD card into my computer and the card itself is just fine.

    • Richard Olchefski

When I put the SD card back in, the Galaxy S9 recognized it. All is good.

Since the update I can’t screenshot without the volume slider appearing. Is it just me?

    • Zach B.

I just took a screenshot with the new update, I do not have any issues with the volume slider popping up.

    • steadymobb

I think you’re just doing it wrong

      • John

        Lol… no

I thought I noticed mine running a little warmer too.

      • Kaulana1989

Yeah mine is running really warm as well

Got it np as far as i can tell. Just curious anyone ever notice 600 mhz spectrum beeing used. My hometown supposbly has it but ive driven all over my town and try to find spectrum but app never picks it up, i got band 7 which is 2600mhz which i think it belongs to us cellular. Ive never gotten band 71 tmobile swears its on in hannibal mo. If it is they got ripped of buying the spectrum because i dont get any beter signal any where. Or they dont have it installed properly. Ive called tmobile one enginer said it wasnt installed right he suposibly fixed it but still never get it. I was realy hopping 600 would work.

My S9+ still doesn’t show the update.
