T-Mobile launching LG Buy One, Get One deal as MetroPCS rolls out offers of its own

lgv30plus

This new week is bringing with it some new deals for T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers.

Starting this Friday, February 16, T-Mobile customers can buy an LG G6, LG V30, or LG V30+ and get a second one for free. Both phones must be purchased on EIP, and cost of the second device will be covered by monthly bill credits.

This LG BOGO deal is available to new and existing T-Mobile customers, including business customers. No new line or port-in is required.

MetroPCS customers can get a free phone, too. Starting today, customers who switch to MetroPCS can get $150 off any phone when they sign up for an Unlimited LTE plan. This means you can get a 32GB iPhone SE, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, LG Stylo 3 Plus, or one of several other devices for free.

MetroPCS has something for existing customers, too. When you add a line to an existing $60 Unlimited LTE plan, you can get a $50 instant rebate on a new phone. If you’ve been a customer for more than three months, you can get a $50 intact rebate on phones $79 and higher if you’re already on or you move to the $60 Unlimited LTE plan.

Do you need to add a line for this deal on T-Mobile

    • EF

It actually might be an incredible deal (hopefully not the negative meaning of “incredible”)

From the Terms and Conditions, there is no mention of having to add lines, nor does the offer appear to be limited only to T-Mobile One customers (I have Simple Choice):

      LG BOGO:
Qualifying credit, service, and finance agreements for both devices
required. Tax on pre-credit price due at sale. V30+: $130 down + $30/mo.
x24 mo. for well qualified customers, pre-credit price $850 (0% APR). If you cancel wireless service, credits stop and remaining balance may become due; contact us for details. Up to $850 back on device of equal/lesser value. Must be active and in good standing for credits; allow 2 bill cycles. May not be combined with some offers or discounts (e.g. Carrier Freedom).

I’ve been waiting to apply my LG-V10 $425 settlement money on a new LG-V30. This might just be the ticket. Then pay off one of the two phone and sell on Swappa! (or buy a brand new one on Swappa at heavily dicsounted prices if you don’t need two)

      • DILAW IDDAHLA

I want to believe this, but I don’t trust T-Mobile anymore. I will wait untilt he deal comes out and if it’s really FREE for the second device without adding/modifying/upgrading and Simple Choice customers qualify, then I will get it. My mother and younger sisters would be happy. I think I will stick with the ONEPLUS 5T and keep it (Got it 3 days ago).

      • I called today Thursdat and told me that the down will be $224 x each phone, also the represent mention is 30 months payments. Please give me the link of the offer to complain about that.

        • EF

That sounds about right. Same for me. $130 down payment + $20 processing fee (aka upgrade fee) + sales tax, and maybe shipping charge? Applies to both phones, and $30 per month for 24 months going forward for both phones. You should get the $130 credit on the second phone’s downpayment, plus monthly $30 credit on second phone in the next bill. Check and call if that is not the case!

        • Thank you for your explanation. Are you sure about the $130 credit in the second phone, the represent not mention it only the rebate card for $850?

          Here are the numbers

          Downpayment V30+ ($130 x 2) $260.00
          Total Upgrade Support Charges
          $40.00

          Insurance deductible
          $0.00

          Taxes and fees
          $134.86

          Shipping
          $6.99

          Total due today
          $441.85

With the projectors LG make more sweet!!

        • EF

There is no rebate card on this promotion. The $850 credit for the second phone is spread out over 24 monthly payments of $35.42 over the next two years, unless you cancel service. At which point you would have to pay the balance on the EIP for whichever line(s) you cancel that are associated with each phone.

    • Alex Wagner

Just got confirmation from T-Mobile that no new line or port-in is required for the LG deal.

      • francob911 .

Is there an official link because i just talked to T-Force and they said 1 port is required.. If this is true I cant even do it because Im maxed out on lines 12 lines on my account. I hope what you say its true it would be great for loyal customers or people like me that are maxed out on lines

        • Alex Wagner

No link but I did speak with T-Mobile PR earlier today. “Nope, no new line or port in required” is what I was told.

        • francob911 .

Thanks Alex I will be going to my local T-Mobile store this Friday I will report back, if its a go.

  • Francisco Peña

Would using JoD for one qualify?

    • TmoRepNLovingIt

      No.

      • Francisco Peña

        well that blows

  • EF

And on top of the LG BOGO, you can probably get a couple of MiniBeam projectors (offer good for purchase made by February 22):

    https://www.lgrebates.com/LGminibeamoffer

The projectors are selling for $350 at BestBuy, around $225 on eBay…

Getting two LG V30+ pones for $850 plus tax and two $25 SIM kits is roughly $1000 net after billing credits, more or less depending on sales tax if any. Sell one phone for ~$500 (currently selling at $600+ on Swappa, new in box), get whatever you can for the two MiniBeam projectors (~$400), and you basically are left with a “free” or very cheap phone for yourself!

    • steveb944

I got the minibeam last year with the V20, excellent little device.

    • DILAW IDDAHLA

Are you sure we can combine the minibeam projectors with the B1G1F offer?

      • EF

Pretty sure. Here’s a statement in the offer’s terms:

If the purchase of more than one Qualifying Device is reflected on a
single receipt, a copy of the receipt must be included with each Offer
request form for each related purchase.

LG won’t know it’s a BOGO from the T-Mobile receipt, since per its terms if you end up cancelling T-Mobile service you end up having to pay for the remaining balance on each phone (as the credits are taken over 2 years and only reflected in your phone bill, not on the purchase receipt).

What that tells me is if you order 4 phones (2 that will be rebated over 24 months), your T-Mobile invoice/receipt/EIP contract will a contract to purchase 4 phones, so you will need to submit 4 offer requests, each with a copy of the same receipt, along with a photo of the IMEI/Serial Number from each of the boxes. Just make sure your circle the IMEI number on each copy of the receipt to match the photo in each of the 2 or 4 offer requests you submit.

Note, while the Tmo offer is good for up to 6 phones (3 rebated), you can only get up to 5 miniprojectors per household.

        • DILAW IDDAHLA

Thank you for the info, but i want to wait until TMobile officially comes out with the deal this Friday and see their fine print. I don’t trust TMobile having this deal for simple choice customers. If everything looks good, i might get 2 v30 devices, sell the 2 projectors for$150 each is ok with me which means i end up with each v30 for $375 which is not bad.

        • TmoRepNLovingIt

I work for T-mobile and everything is true. Its easily the best BOGO offer we’ve ever had. I’m even going to take advantage of it myself as well, including the 2 free projectors

        • DILAW IDDAHLA

I read more into the v30 and it seems like it has lots of quality problems. I understand it comes with a 2 year warranty, but if the build quality is poor extending the warranty won’t help that much. I was excited about the promotion but i am not anymore. I just bought a OnePlus 5T last week and i have 8 days left to return it if ii want to. This OnePlus 5T is a BEAST except the camera.

        • TmoRepNLovingIt

I can confirm via my local LG rep that this BOGO is indeed stackable with the LG mini projector promo. That means one free phone and two free projectors. Also, as of today, T-mobile has changed the limit on this BOGO promo from 6 to unlimited

      • They_Call_Me_Bruce

I got the BOGO deal from TMobile last year and got the projector and headphone deal for each phone. The projector is decent for the price (free). I built a screen and held acouple movie nights in the back yard.

  • Ty Christensen

No new line or T-Mobile One plan required? That’s gotta be a misprint, I can’t believe what I’m reading, it’s a miracle!

    • DILAW IDDAHLA

I hope this is true because I don’t want to upgrade/change anything. Just get the phone on EIP and walk out

  • dtam

Nice deal, makes you wonder if these already have bootloop issues

    • Ty Christensen

A co-worker of mine has had the V30 since it came out and hasn’t had a single issue.

      • dtam

hope so, I like LG products and it would be good if they fixed those big issues

      • Trevnerdio

They are lucky. I’m about to swap out my 2nd V30 for a 3rd one. Unbelievably poor QC on these things.

        • DILAW IDDAHLA

What are the issues you have with the device? My brother had a LG G4 and he got the bootloop issue after 20 months from owning the phone (he was the original owner). He loved the phone and LG fixed it for him, but I ended up trading the phone a week after he got it. I am considering getting 2 LG V30s for my family, but wanted to know what issues existing users have.

        • Trevnerdio

If you use your phone in dark areas (like a dark room), you’re going to be incredibly disappointed. The black levels are “crushed” (it crosses over to bitch black way too early, and you can’t see half of what’s going on if you watch videos). There were some banding issues with my first one, this one I have now has really poor brightness uniformity (left side of the screen is noticeably darker than the right side, at almost any brightness, but especially low brightness) and there is light leak at the bottom.

This is LG’s first attempt at OLED screens on their phones, and they missed the mark miserably. Their LCDs (like the G4) aren’t half bad, I really liked my G4, V10, and V20.

    • EF

This deal really is a no-brainer.

I had a bootlooping LG V10 a little over a year ago (sent back for repairs, just outside warranty, but was not charged; it works fine now and I really like that phone). Have not heard of any bootloop problem on any LG phones released after the LG V20 (meaning LG G6 and later models appear to have resolved this issue).

Even if there are quality issues, LG now has a great TWO-year warranty (I will purchase with a credit card that adds another full year of coverage, so total warranty will be THREE years) that basically covers the life of the phone. Don’t expect my phone to last that long.

LG has settled a class action lawsuit related to bootloops to my satisfaction. I still have my repaired LG V10, which I plan to keep give to my son, and will be using the $700 LG rebate offer (I chose that option rather than the $425 cash settlement offer) to basically get TWO LG V30s for the price of burner phones (plus 2 MiniBeam projectors which could be sold to actually make a profit).

      • dtam

Nice that you got in on that suit, I wasn’t aware of it so bummer. But yeah, they have fixed the phones for free, it’s just a hassle that it happens

  • Joe

Wow this is just great , I just purchased two G6’s on EIP this past week. Is there anyway I can get this deal ?

    • Zacamandapio

I believe if you’re still within the return period you can do that and then buy these two (get one free).

    • DrakenFX

Yup you as long is within 15 day return period yoully be fine, BUT be aware of the RedtkResto fee/s.

      • DILAW IDDAHLA

If you are going to return it to a store, then they will charge you a restocking fee of $50 if I remember correctly. If you send it to T-Moble however (You can only ship it back if you got it online or if theorder was placed on the phone) tyou can ship it back, but that will take at least 2 months to be refunded

        • Joe

Wow two months that’s crazy. I’ve been waiting to upgrade for a while and of course this happens.

        • DILAW IDDAHLA

Yeah TMobile refund process sucks. If you take it to the store and return it there you will pay the restocking fee, but will instantly get it removed from your account

  • Gerard Bathan

So we have to get this only on Friday right?

  • Philip

Is the VG30 as good as the S8?

    • Andrew Singleton

much better performance and much less lag on the v30. same amazing display. the camera has an awesome wide angle feature but i would say photos overall are better on s8.

  • IThoughtAsAChild

Are G6s reliable? Two for $550 is a great deal..

    • Zacamandapio

I have one and I’ve had all since the G2 and up and the V10 and up. I’ll say the G6 is pretty good. And yes, two for one is a great deal on any of those.

      • IThoughtAsAChild

I kinda want the S8 Active to replace my S8, I believe I’ll just Jump my S8 to that and get the G6 as well, I’ve always wanted one but went for the big boobs and curves of the S8 instead.

        • Zacamandapio

          Yes.

      • IThoughtAsAChild

I read it had reception issues..not true?

    • Andrew Singleton

the lower end processor is noticeable and the display just has a flatness to it, but it performs overall very well. great size in the hand.

    • Mike Thaler

Mine has worked well. Had it since about last April/May. Had G4 before that. Had the famous bootloop problem which LG fixed within 8 days.
$275 for a top of line phone is great price.

  • the martian ambassador

I want BOGO on the Note 8. Even if they said existing customers had to stay with T-Mobile for 2 years, that would be fine.

    • Andrew Singleton

This promo is just that but for the wrong device :( I have a V30 and its actually excellent you should check it out if you don’t need an S Pen.

  • Henry von Beck

Suggestion. There are only two phones in this offer worth considering. The LG V30 and the V30+ support the 600mhz {band 71) frequency that is to be used for reception in rural areas and indoors in areas where the standard signal is weak or not usable. The Samsung S8 Active also has this capability. The Samsung Note 8 does not either, nor does any other phone at this time. Band 71 also is planned for use by Tmobile’s 5G system. Most new phones this year should have hardware compatible for Band 71 reception. This a major upgrade that Tmobile is spending upwards of $10 billion to implement.

  • IThoughtAsAChild

I wonder if I’ll miss my S8 if I switch to a G6, I may Jump to it, this is my way of getting out of the $1000 phone game….

  • IThoughtAsAChild

Just read the reviews of the G6 from T-Mobile.com and I am now officially weary about getting this phone…

    • Bklynman

Me too. Thanks to you, might have me save a big headache. Still might get it,put both on Ebay with the mini projectors.

      • IThoughtAsAChild

The projector a big reason I want one… those reviews are horrible and some are very current.

  • Bklynman

Odd,that TMO,is still selling Kyocera DuraForce PRO for full price,(Not that I want to get it,unless it had 3 to 4 gigs of ram,5.7sceen etc.) I wonder why they never low the price on it.
No,not putting it on the same level as these 2 phones.

  • They_Call_Me_Bruce

When did T mobile raise the price of the G6? I paid 500 a couple months ago, but noticed it’s now 550.

    • Joe

It’s probably because LG is delaying the G7 indefinitely.

  • mustang8918

I noticed it says, monthly bill credits, does anyone know if these credits are over 24 months or not?

    • mustang8918

I see it now, it is over 24 months just like verizon does.

      • dcmanryan

They should call it what it is, a contract.

  • SirStephenH

From my experience LG is a bit better at updates than Samsung and as a plus it’s phones are not drug down by as much bloat.

  • IThoughtAsAChild

When I put it in my cart it doesn’t even give the option of monthly payments.

  • SirStephenH

Just got back from T-Mobile, we now have one V30 with a second on order. The LG BOGO deal works with Jump but not Jump On Demand and does not require new lines or a switch to T-Mobile One. Also, according to the T-Mobile website, this BOGO phone deal will work with the free LG Minibeam projector deal so we’ll be working on sending that off soon as well. According to the T-Mobile employees there hasn’t been an end date set on this deal so it’ll probably go until they hit a set number of sales.

  • klippies ace

T mobile has no stock, shipping takes a month.

    • Joe

      No stock for what ?

      • klippies ace

        Lg v30+

    • SirStephenH

You got screwed, unless all of T-Mobile is out of stock. There are faster methods available. We’re getting our second V30 (the store only had one in stock) shipped via 3 day and the shipping cost was waived.

  • Bklynman

Just read on Tom Guide, the only 2 Lg phones that going to get 8.0 is Lg6 and V30,sorry Samsung Active owners, that phone is not on the list either for Samsung.

    • IThoughtAsAChild

The drugs are good if you don’t think the S8 Active will get 8.0

      • Bklynman

No that what I read in Tom Guide, not sure how good their information is,haven’t check Android Police,Android Authority. But in TG they got the information from Samsung what phones will get 8.0.

  • EF

Ordered 2 LG V30+ phones on Feb 16, due to arrive Feb 21. If you plan on selling one of the two, make sure you track the IMEIs in your T-Mobile EIP/Promo page correctly to see which of the two was assigned the monthly credits. Only sell the one that is NOT on the monthly credit (in my case around $35 per month to make up for the $130 down payment, $30 per month over 24 months).

Since I plan to sell one on Swappa (new in box), before I can do that (also so that the buyer gets unlock privileges), I will have to pay off the EIP for that phone. Would hate to pay off by mistake the phone that’s getting statement credits!

And make sure you get photos of the box’s IMEI on both phones to be able to two free minibeam projectors for purchases dated through Feb 22.

    • pda96

Bummer. I’m too late. The minibeam projector promo is over.

  • SirStephenH

This promo is still active as of February 20th in case anyone was wondering.

  • Bklynman

More than likely still can get it online or in a store, but on TMO site they no longer have V30+,they still have it in stores along with the V20,but not online.I am sure if you call they can fill the order,or even online if you chat with a rep. I am pretty sure you can get either one,the V20 is $384. in a store.

  • EF

Glad I got the LG V30+’s when they were still available. Recommended to a friend and was told they had sold out at T-Mobile.

Just got my two Minibeam projectors from the rebate offer, and was surprised to also receive two B&O Play H3 earbuds ($150 retail value each!) – on top of the “premium” buds that came in the box with the phones. My wife, who normally can’t wear these type of headphones, found that they sound good and stay in her ear even when running, so she’s stoked about that. Really an amazing BOGO when you factor in the double bonuses, which when added up (2x$350 + 2x$150 = $1000!). Even re-selling these bonuses for half off retail would almost make up for the paid phone, and if you can sell the second phone “new in box” for $600, you basically end up with a free LG V30+.

    • Esteban Valdez

Also just received our projectors and the headphones. Really awesome surprise getting the headphones. Glad I wasn’t the only one who got them.
