The best part about an iphone is that they’re consistent with their updates to all phones 4 years and newer!

      Isn’t that neat sheep!

That’s because android has multiple forks with multiple time lines we can choose from.

If android was reduced down to just stock android it would be similar to iOS in terms of updates being unified to the same schedule but then we’d all be 2 to 4 years behind in terms of technological advancements and there would be no variant of Android secure and private enough for the highest levels of security.

Galaxies are the only ones with a higher standard and way more advanced tech so of course it’ll be in its own schedule.

It’s just silly marketing tactics that wants people to believe that stock android and galaxies would somehow have the same update schedule.

Yeah cause every iOS they release comes with bugs so they are constantly updating and slowing down their devices

It’s Nice that they support 4 year old devices though

Kept checking for update on S8 since morning, but still nothing. Hope it will arrive tomorrow.

It’s out now. August security patch.

Today, I got Android latest security patch (september) on my HTC 10 US unlocked.

        • EffortLess

I also have a US unlocked HTC 10, but I run Lineage OS. That has nothing to do with the Galaxy S8+ on T-Mobile though.

        • CeroPunto

I considered it at some point. Good to know

      • ACI

Got it. Thanks. Thought we will see September patch, since waited longer than usual.

It’s a pretty big update at 414.96MB on the S8+ to include just the August Security Patch.

Installed. Confirmed that it’s still at 7.0. 7.1 has been out for a year, and has major updates. The later updates are more GUI or phone specific and not a big deal if we don’t get them. Oreo will probably be released for the S8 right before the S9 comes out.

    • bkat11

They are starting a beta program similar to the S7 and Nougat with the S8 and Oreo per Sammobile as we speak

in the update,it says “IMS ROAMING UPDATE”. What does that mean?

    • gpt2010

I would like to know the answer to that question too.

  • Peter Smith

I got mine. Don’t see much of a difference but hey I just love getting an update

Does this fix the wifi issues? My S8 is the only device on my network that constantly disconnects from my Orbi after just a minute or two.

Finally! This update finally got rid of the jank, stutters, and frame drops in the Samsung launcher when exiting an app. Thank God.

Anyone having issues with email apps only synching over wifi and not cellular. Not sure if it is due to this update or something with my phone.

    • Thought it was just me, nothing syncs on inbox/gmail

Turn sync off and back on.
