HTC Desire 530 bringing its unique micro-splashed design to T-Mobile

A new HTC smartphone with a unique paint job is coming soon to T-Mobile.

HTC announced today that its Desire 530 is coming to the U.S., and T-Mobile is going to carry it. The “Sparkle White” Desire 530 will launch at T-Mobile on July 13 at a price of $0 down and 24 payments of $6.67 per month, or a full retail price of $159.99. HTC will also sell an unlocked version of the 530 later this month for $179.

As for the phone itself, the Desire 530 features a unique “micro-splash” style with a back that’s one solid color but then is splashed with several small flecks of color all over its rear. Another uncommon feature of the Desire 530 is the lanyard hole on its rear, which will let you attach a loop and give the more clumsy among us help holding on to our phone. You could also attach a charm or other accessory to make your Desire 530 a bit more persona.

The Desire 530 runs Android 6.0 on a 5-inch 1280×720 display and features 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, a quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and a 2200mAh battery. Also included is 16GB of storage, but you can expand upon that with a microSD card if you’d like.

Finally, T-Mo says that the Desire 530 will support both Extended Range LTE and Wi-Fi Calling.

Nice to see some additional entry level phones.

That’s a pretty good inexpensive device. And it appears to have front facing speakers.

SD210 = Nope. Lot’s of better phones for $179 or less, like the Moto G4 with SD617.

While I agree with you, this isn’t bad compared to T-mobile’s other cheap phones.

    • FILA

yea really a 210, bet it has a hard time keeping Google maps zooming in and out

  • JLV90

This is basically an HTC Desire 626S from last year with more storage a better front facing camera and I’m assuming Marshmallow instead of Lollipop

    Just white with sprinkles?
No other colors to choose from?

    • Alex Wagner

Sprinkle White was the only color mentioned by T-Mobile in its announcement.

    • AS118

I hope there are other colors. The back of that phone looks like a pop-tart. A kid might even try to take a bite out of it.

And then he’ll come here and say: Thank You T-Mobile, Thank You John Legere.

Closest thing to “lipstick on a pig” I have seen in the phone space for a while.

    • pug_ster

agreed. soc is too slow and you can get a decent moto phone for that money. might as well get the zte zmax 2 for $60 at bestbuy and unlock it

  • AS118

At least they didn’t make a T-mobile only 8gb edition that actually had less space than the 16gb version the other carriers had this time.

16gb is the new minimum nowadays, imho. 2gb of ram wouldn’t hurt either, but 1.5 is barely enough.

Question, does the unlocked version have less bloatware for the extra $20? Have band 12? Any other differences?

    • JLV90

probably a minimal difference, likely has band 12 and wifi calling HTC has been good about that.
