(Updated) New T-Mobile Roadmap Shows Possible Release Dates For Windows Phone 8X, LG Optimus L9

With T-Mobile’s pre-holiday smartphone lineup pretty well-known at this point, all that;s left to discover are actual release dates. Well, we’re back with another look at T-Mobile’s upcoming roadmap and a few anticipated devices are visibly marked including the LG Optimus L9, and the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Absent is the Galaxy Note II, but that’s not surprising, nor alarming given that it’s a flagship device and may not be on the calendar for a number of reasons. I’m not 100% certain on what the Samsung Toba is, and I don’t think it’s the Note II, but I can’t be sure. It could be something else completely, such as a new prepaid device or something along those lines, or it could be a new tablet.  As for the rest of the intel:

  • Blackberry Armstrong 10/24
  • Samsung Galaxy S II Color Refresh 10/29 — pics to follow
  • Huawei Summit 10/31 — Unknown Android device
  • LG Optimus L9 10/31
  • Samsung Toba 11/7 — New Samsung tablet?
  • Dell BMW Launch 11/14 — we believe this is a new Windows 8 laptop
  • HTC Windows Phone 8X 11/14

    Summit is a feature phone

    • Not according to the pic I have, looks Android.

      • LC

It’s a touch screen feature phone made to look along the lines of the Prism/My Touch, but still a feature phone.

  • LC

Isn’t the GSII in black already called titanium?

    • custom1

  • terryjohnson16

I thought the GS2 already comes in Titanium.

    • fixxmyhead

mines all black. i scratched off the chrome with my nails. looks better all black

    • thepanttherlady

If you go to Shop/phones from T-Mobile’s main page it shows the two colors for the S2 as titanium and white. However, if you go to Explore/What’s New then click the S2 link it shows the color listed as black.
They look like the same color to me so perhaps the reference to “color refresh” in the roadmap just means a color name change?

  • Soooooooo, ‘blackberry’ device? huh? that’s an error right?

  • I’m surprised I am inciting your diligent attempt to insult me…

  • JustSaying

It’s just a color relax! Some people like that.. if it’s not for you then don’t worry about it.. It will STILL sell… one of my friends just bought the GS2 in White because they couldn’t afford the GS3

    • speak for yourself…you’re the one all EXCITED!!!…

      • archerian

trying to read this thread makes my head hurt, perhaps the whole thread should just be scrapped…

        • And scrapped it was.

  • gnd

What about the Nokia W8 phones?

  • asmidnightfalls

Maybe the samsung toba is the samsung ativ? Im hoping that still comes to the magenta side. Although the 8x and the 810 are okay, I still wouldnt mind another choice. More than likely though, itll just probably be the galaxy tab 10.2 or galaxy tab note….sigh….

  • frigadroid

Toba = to be announced = note 2

    • thepanttherlady

If that’s it, it makes me sad to see “(select stores)”.

    • archerian

is it 42 or 21 Mbps theoretical speed?

      • dews

most likely 42 cause the s3 has it and i think that samsung wanted it to stay at least even to the s in specs

        • archerian

The SGN2 uses Exynos 4 Quad, same as the International SGS3 but at a faster clock speed, but that SoC doesn’t have DC-HSPA+. Unless there is another model for North America, I’m not sure how it can do 42

    • Chris

Noooo shut up it’s gonna come out on the 24th >8(

      • frigadroid

Me shut up, lol, not likely until they pry my t-mobile device from my cold dead fingers ;-) I’m just guessing about the date so I could be wrong, but that is also not likely.

    • Michelle

I doubt it, after Sprint says it’s coming out so soon for them. If they have enough brain cells to realize how many people want this phone, they’ll realize people are willing to cancel they’re plans with and leave to get the phone rather than wait.

  • jmfos

    Nothing to get excited about.

  • Justin

No Lumia 920… means no WP8 success on T-mobile. Hopefully the HTC 8X is close to par with the Lumia.

    • jay_max

On Nokia’s global site, the global version of the Lumia 920 appears to support TMO’s HSPA+ bands, plus their future LTE bands. I’m looking into buying that one, if possible.

      • PiCASSiMO

You are giving me a little hope…

Let’s hope this is available on Amazon at full price which I would gladly buy assuming the 1700/2100 are correct specs.

        • Unfortunately Nokia came out today and said that was an error, it DOES NOT have the 1700 AWS band. Sorry folks!

The only thing the 8X really misses out on is memory (and I think Microsoft is offering 7 GB of free storage on SkyDrive or something)… the screen resolutions are very close to the same, the 8X actually has better ppi (you won’t even notice the difference, though), they both have the same processor, and the camera of the Lumia can’t beat the 8X’s by *that* much. Sure, it’s probably better, but not by much. You’ll probably only notice a significant difference in low light conditions, so if you’re not the type who constantly takes pictures it won’t be a big deal. Wireless charging is cool, but I’d rather carry around a charger rather than a pad thing, or however it will work. Nokia’s exclusive apps are nice, but I’m sure there will be alternatives in the Windows Store. Plus, the 8X has a better size. It’s thinner and weighs less, and I love the design much more than the Lumia’s.

And it’s going to be cheaper!

  • Mimo Dakdouk

Nice, excited for the 8X :)

  • kungfused

What are the odds that “Galaxy S II Color Refresh” is a typo, and is referring to the new colors for the Galaxy S III instead? i.e., the black and brown options that Verizon announced recently?

    • It isn’t, I’m staring at the new one.

      • archerian

so its the SGH-T989 in new colors? Even after launching the SGS3 and impending SGN2? Rather odd timing

        • Oreo

Maybe they changed it up a bit, because of apple? Just my theory.

        • Guest

What does that have to do with Apple?

  • Enough, stay on topic.

    • since my posts are being removed which I have no problem with, but the ones attacking me remain, i am considering it fair game to attack everyone now…that is unless you make it fair

  • jr

Makes no sense to do a color refresh of the GS2 when other carriers like Verizon are launching new colors for GS3…could this be a typo and we’re really getting new GS3 colors?

  • Dave

Very excited about HTC Windows Phone 8X. After Lumia 920 probably the coolest phone you can get.
Since probably Lumia 920 will not come to T-Mobile I think HTC 8X is the best option.
Although I have to say HTC 8S has pretty nice design and color too and if big screen is not for you HTC 8S is the way to go.
Samsung phones? Well their phone design still look old and cheap.

  • nerdlust

Thanks tmonews for the heads up. I like being the know I can’t to get some hands on time.

  • TMoFan

I was hoping for some more info on the Sony Xperia T that passed through the FCC not too long ago. Wonder what the summit is?

  • blakehaas

wasn’t this roadmap leaked weeks ago?

    • By us? Yes, but in those couple of weeks, dates can and do change.

  • nope not at all, just utilizing my freedom of speech! only idiots like you get upset over other peoples’ opinions…although fairness is a different issue.

    • thepanttherlady

Resorting to name calling, cursing, and cyber bullying is not acceptable. It isn’t a matter of being “fair”. In that I do not intend to hijack this thread responding to your posts, this will be my last.

      • sorry hypocrit, dont contradict yourself

  • Sorry, but I’ve deleted most of that thread, there was zero reason to call you names and I don’t know what the problem was, but it was just getting out of hand!

    • thepanttherlady

No reason to apologize, David. I don’t know what the problem was either but this is your site and it shouldn’t be hijacked for any reason.

      • No, I know, but my concern is someone like that will make you stop commenting, or worse stop reading. So I’m doing my best to keep up and keep it under control! It’s clear I need more moderators!

        • thepanttherlady

Someone else won’t dictate what sites I read/comment on. Unless you’re the IT department at my job and start blocking sites forcing me to use my phone (the man won’t keep me down!). =P While I have no intention of stopping on this one I see your point for potential harm to other readers.

  • Richard Yarrell

Talk about lining up perfectly.I honestly think one of two things will happen. Either tmo releases the Galaxy Note 2 on October 24th which would be shocking since Samsung has the event in New York City the same day. Or tmo will offer the opportunity to pre order on October 24th with the Galaxy Note 2 launching on November 7th. Deep down no mention of the Galaxy Note 2 on the road map means October 24th launch walk in stores purcha. I am waiting..

  • WinDroidGuy

The Summit will be available online the 17th, it’s a 3G phone 600Mhz processor, super low specs.

The Galaxy S2 color refresh is “grey”, just like the Note 2 :)

  • For the first time in a while, my contract is up and I’m not really excited about any of T-Mobile’s upcoming Android offerings.

    • al

      What’s your current phone?

  • if the 8X impressed me i’ll seriously consider a full time swap to windows phone

  • Whitney

    No thanks

  • I can’t remember where I read this but is the Ativ S really rumored to be coming to T-Mobile?

    • You read it here!

  • Paul

I see on 10/24 that Blackberry is releasing a new phone; “Armstrong.”
    (insert Lance Armstrong joke)
That’s the same day Samsung it doing a big reveal for something(s). Blackberry will be left in the shadow of whatever Sammy is showing that day. I’m curious what the “Armstrong” looks like, since they are not keeping up with physical designs; such as full touch screens.
