HTC HD7 (and others?) To Be Announced On October 11th

If you have been following the launch of Windows Phone 7 at all, then you probably know about this fancy party on October 11th.  Well, it was originally thought that AT&T would have it all to itself, but good ol’ Magenta is crashing that party to bring a little style to the room.  Somewhere in the event log it says that there will be “an exclusive showing of T-Mobile powered Windows Phone 7 devices.”  Read that again….Devices! Plural! Will we see something more than just the HTC HD7?  I know some people that will be looking forward to that around 3:30PST on October 11th.  Leave your thoughts in the comments!

T-Mobile is coming for it this YEAR!

  • ManoloDF

I hope one of these has UMA on board, though I know I shouldn’t hold my breath for it.

  • My wish: one of the new devices will have a sliding qwerty keyboard.
    (Crossing fingers and praying feverishly)

    • TheDude

I’m with you!! C’mon Dell Lightning!

    • ParappaLives

      That’s the ticket… I’m not wholly impressed w/ HD7 (or HD3, whatever)… I’m hoping T-mo offers at least 1 or 2 other handsets at launch.

(Buuuut… if the HD3 is all there is… well… I have no choice…. unless those XDA guys get a fully working WP7 rom for the HD2 soon!!)

  • TheDude

It’s sad to see all the T-Mobile bashing in the engadget comments for that article. I’m willing to bet that half the people bashing have not even tried T-Mobile. If I had listened to friends and “talk” of this carrier before I joined years ago then I would have stayed away. This is one of the biggest reasons (IMO) T-Mobile has stayed in #4 for so long – public perception.

    • David, Managing Editor

Amen brother!! That’s why we’re doing what we can to make sure they have the best damn fan base in the world!

      • Foxeh

You’re doing well. If it wasn’t for this site I might have just passed up the G2 after all of the frustration various T-Mo reps put me through. After taking advice from some of the commentators, I managed to get through to someone willing to actually help me.

Not to mention it saved me $150 and/or my defection!

So props to you and TmoNews.

    • ParappaLives

Yeah, well, those same morons bashing T-mo are too stupid to READ and think that T-mo is going to be exclusive when it CLEARLY tells us its both At&t and T-mo. A few internet comment boards idiots doesn’t mean anything. Screw em.

  • Oh dear! This is fantastic news! But, do I still have wait till November to get my little hands on the HTC HD7? Guess we’ll find out on the 11th!!

  • Mike

Why does Microsoft keep trying to come to the mobile platform? It’s a sad excuse for a mobile OS. Leave it to the big boys from Google, RIM & Apple.

    • Matlock

Thats a stupid comment, considering that if it wasnt for Microsoft we wouldnt have the rims, Androids and Apples of this world! Microsoft set a standard and then everyone else followed, now bare in mind that they did surpass MS in recent years. You have not yet even had the opportunity to use this OS, yet you are already bashing it. Wait til WP7 comes out, and once you have experienced it and have a good idea of how it works, then come voice your opinion, but til then please keep the negativity towards WP7 out!

      • TheDude

I agree with this post with every fibre of my being.

      • David

        @ Matlock

        @ Mike

He probably doesn’t like the UI. With WP7 it seems that you either love it or hate it.

      • Adam

I second that! Being one of the lucky keepers of a developer phone, this OS is bringing more to the table than many people expected Microsoft to be capable of. I am absolutely in love with this phone, and that is before having access to any apps or games

And @Mike, I would hardly call what RIM has brought for a long time as anything close to good enough to be a “big boy” player.

Finally, the market has grown by leaps and bounds, but it is still a small piece of the global phone sales. 3011-2012 will bring an explosion in smartphone sales, meaning Microsoft is arriving as the perfect time.

Wi-Fi and Mobile Calling…for My touch HD…So is like UMA Android……!!!!!!!!

  • justaphoneuser

Good stuff! I’ll be in line…

  • eYe

This makes me wonder if I made the right choice ordering 2 G2s… Oh well, they haven’t been shipped yet so I have my 14 days. I’ll return them in a heart beat if something else pops up that interests me more. I like the idea of front facing camera and a screen bigger then 4″ but if all I have to choose between Defy, G2 and MT HD – I’ll keep my G2 especially since I got them for $150 each and one of the lines wasn’t even eligible for upgrade.

  • mtnman

T-Mobile is gearing up for the holiday season. They (like the rest of us) are tired of being in forth place. At least I get that impression from the new CEO.

  • Freddy2Fred

The specs sucks. From what I seen, I was disappointed. Im not gonna be surprised if the specs are what we already saw from the leak. It happens all the time. So to get too excited about this.
