EA and T-Mobile USA Deliver Enhanced Gaming Content from Leading Titles

Need for Speed World, SKATE 3 and The Sims 3 are First Titles to Participate in Advertising Relationship that Extends and Enhances Game Playing Experience

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced an advertising relationship with T-Mobile USA, Inc. that delivers promotional content from several leading EA titles, enabling consumers to download free* premium content enhancing their game playing experience. The promotion is currently intended to extend across three titles at launch – Need for Speed™ World, SKATE™ 3 and The Sims™ 3 – with more titles participating throughout the year.

“In this highly competitive media environment, T-Mobile recognized an opportunity to reach a deeply engaged, loyal audience in a way that is authentic, unobtrusive and enhances the game playing experience,” said Peter DeLuca, vice president of advertising, T-Mobile USA. ”We’re excited about driving brand affinity by keeping gamers connected to their favorite EA titles.”

“T-Mobile and EA have had a great relationship for several years,” said Elizabeth Harz, Senior Vice President of EA’s Global Media Sales team.”T-Mobile is incredibly innovative and is focused on helping busy consumers connect with the people and experiences that enrich their lives. This advertising relationship accomplishes both of those goals by providing innovative brand experiences and extended gameplay.”

How it Works:

Players Log onto http://t-mobile.ea.com/ to gain access to the content. The site prompts players to chose their desired content and navigate to the download by entering the code “GetConnected”.

Promotional content currently available to download includes:

  • In Need for Speed World, players take driving to a whole new level. T-Mobile provides a free car upgrade, offering consumers a downloadable Mazda 3 without the usual in-game currency needed. Upgrading vehicles from tier to tier helps users advance throughout the game.
  • Downloadable content for EA’s popular SKATE 3 includes a new photo challenge as part of the T-Mobile Storefront Challenge. In the challenge, skaters are required to hit the gap in front of the virtual T-Mobile storefront.
  • In The Sims 3 on personal computers, players enjoy unexpected moments of surprise and mischief and choose whether to fulfill their Sims’ destinies or not! With this promotion, players can download lifestyle items from home furnishings to a new hairstyle which represent their Sims characters. Additionally, a T-Mobile sponsored music content pack can be downloaded, which provides free items to enhance the cool factor for players of The Sims 3 with items like a modern stereo and music t-shirts.

More games and enhancements will be announced throughout the year. Full rules and regulations as well as download descriptions and product details can be found at: http://t-mobile.ea.com/.

*In-game items require applicable EA game, applicable game system, Internet connection and EA registration. Additional restrictions also apply. See www.t-mobile.ea.com for details.

Sounds good to me. The more partnerships (with good companies) the better.

      You are a fail.

    • Steve Jobless

The word “fail” is over used now-a-days. When this word become so popular? Was it G4’s AOTS “Epic Fail” or that website (failblog.com)? Either way, get yourself a Thesaraus and expand your vocabulary.

  • FTW! EA Makes the best games IMO. :)

When will T-Mobile announce an update for the myTouch 3G?

    • alex32

the real question is when will tmobile announce pre orders and the release date of the amazing G2 lol

      • NiiDiddy

nah…the real question is, when is the Vibrant is getting the Froyo? lmao

  • Ryan

Its about time T-Mobile starts doing some major partnerships. They need live NBA streaming like Verizon with the NFL…. After all they are the sponsors!

    • Greg

      Agreed. This would be AWESOME!!!

  • Yyevo

But I thought EA wasn’t interested in Android because they don’t have an “app store”.

Yes, I know the Android Market exists, but, according to the stories over the weekend, EA doesn’t.

    • VirtualAss

Uhhh… never say never. And, uhhhhh… you know.. .that whole WIndows Phone 7 with Xbox Live integration thing… that *might* have something to do with this. I don’t know. Maybe.

  • derrickps3

    f*** EA………..sike just kidding

  • Wilma Flintstone

Great Idea but not sure I like EA at the moment for the way they screwed me with the new NBA Jam, The Wii version better have online play EA. I’m sure I’ll get over it though because of newly retitled Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. :D

  • VibrantGuy

This is great! I completely forgot The Sims 3. Maybe I’ll play just to get the free music? lol, anything free is a good thing :-P

    • Yyevo

Not always. I was once offered a free copy of Battlefield Earth.

      • VibrantGuy

yea, maybe not always a good thing

More great moves by T-Mobile. I wonder if this is Herr Humm pushing things along or was this was in the works over the years.

MY bet is Herr Humm is in the house and shaking things up. He’s probably driving up and down Silicon Valley “daily” cutting deals like this.

Keep it going T-Mobile, just fantastic!

  • Mohammad

I fell like David purposely holds back on news over the weekend… But I am so addicted to this site that I can’t stop myself from visiting it on weekends. Anyone have any cure for me?

    • David, Managing Editor

Nah, I didn’t have anything to post this weekend, both the tab video and ea news were both this mornings news cycles, I never hold back news unless it’s something I’m asked to wait on or need to double confirm!

      • Mohammad

Ohh, ok then. I’m sorry. Keep up the good work!

  • galos24

Im amazed to see these guys work their a** every single day to give us the good news.
Thank you Tmoguys for your hardwork on satisfying us the Tmoppl. thanks again!

  • TMOprophet

Perhaps this partnership will lead to TMO getting a more “Optimized Gaming Android Phone”….such as the rumored Sony with the slide out game pad.

I know that traditionally Sony has sent their Android phones to AT&T, however with this partnership, maybe that will be enough to draw Sony away from AT&T and start developing business relationships with T-Mobile, in a sense that way they could offer their gaming phone with a carrier that already has Android gaming connections to major Gaming companies such as EA.

  • scooby doo

There are 6 security threats on this site that are causeing problems on my phone while trying to view the site while loading, also causes problems on my computer.. i love this site please fix problems soon its been this way for a week or so. .. Thanks

    • David, Managing Editor

What kind of problems, I can’t fix something if I don’t know that it exists!

  • scooby doo

I tried to post a copy of the info causing problems not sure if you got it our not?

  • Well, they better hurry up if they want any of the Sidekick market!! Their App Store (aka Download Catalog) CLOSES for new app submissions as of TOMORROW (9/21/10). For more info, see here:

  • I downloaded the car, but it never points in the right direction, takes forever to even appear on the screen, and half the time when I point it at the street it drives through buildings 100 yards away instead.

Oh wait, I downloaded a Vibrant. My mistake.

  • Bschwartz40

Cool now EA can bring Crysis to my Vibrant! :D /s

  • josue

Can’t find how to upgrade Sim 3 for Samsung Vibrant. The link on the top will just send me to their mobile store.

  • Fish

I still can’t bring up tmonews on my phone. It loads the top then stops and locks up my entire browser, even other windows. And I can’t just quit the browser, I have to then go into task killer and quit the browser again.

Anyone else having problems with the site?

Yes, I know I put this in the wrong place.

    • David, Managing Editor

We’re working on bringing am mobile edition up quickly to help alleviate the stress!

  • scooby doo

…..Like i said i just started having the same problem about 1 week ago.. and on my computer norton antivirus picks up threats as well.. it all started at the same time.. im glad to know its not just me with the problem..

    • David, Managing Editor

Norton won’t remove the threat, its not an actual threat, it stems from the malware that hit one of the ads a few weeks ago, I’ve requested it be removed and it has yet to be…there is no actual threat and the forthcoming mobile site should be hitting soon and help alleviate the problems caused by ads on Android!

  • Dave

Why does it say for PC, Mac or Xbox just before I try to download it? I thought this was for our T-Mobile phones? & when I go to the link on my phone it bring up 2 paid games, some FIFA game & something else O_o (???) anybody mind clueing me in?

Not trying to add fuel to the fire but I am having the same problem loading tmo news on my phone. I thought it was because I have a sucky Click but I guess not. I can not WAIT to get the G2!!

  • adam

so this is only for android? not windows mobile? :( tmobile, you could help us windows mobile people too! we got stuck with the crappy OS!

  • Ermac
