T-Mobile Visa Prepaid Cards for Mobile Money no longer reloadable at T-Mo stores after April 11

tmobilemobilemoney

It’s been a while since we’ve gotten any news regarding Mobile Money, but that’s changing today.

T-Mobile is alerting T-Mobile Visa Prepaid Card users that, starting April 11, they’ll no longer be able to load their cards up at T-Mo retail stores. T-Mobile confirmed to me that this is the case. The email explains that “New card purchases after March 11th and any reloads attempted after April 11th, at T-Mobile retail locations, will not be accepted by the T-Mobile agent.”

T-Mobile Card users can still reload by going to other shops that sell Reloadit packs. You can find a list of those stores here. T-Mobile also notes that if you’ve got a recurring direct deposit on your account, they’ll remain active for now.

Finally, T-Mobile says “there will be more updates in April,” so T-Mobile Card owners should stay tuned. While we wait to hear more, you can check out the full text of the email going out to T-Mobile Card users below.

Our records indicate you have a T-Mobile Visa® Prepaid Card issued by The Bancorp Bank; on behalf of Blackhawk Network, Inc. This letter contains an important, time-sensitive notification. You do NOT need to take any action.

Effective April 11, 2016, you will no longer be able to reload an existing T-Mobile Card at T-Mobile retail locations.

If you have a recurring direct deposit to the Card Account, those will remain active for now. You will be notified of any additional, upcoming changes.

Also, you can continue to reload your card by visiting other locations that sell Reloadit packs. Visit https://www.tmobilemoneyservices.com/StoreLocator to find a list of card reload locations.

New card purchases after March 11th and any reloads attempted after April 11th, at
T-Mobile retail locations, will not be accepted by the T-Mobile agent.

Please refer to the website at www.tmobilemoneyservices.com for more information, as there will be more updates in April.

Thank you very much for using your Card. We regret any inconvenience you may experience. If you have questions about this letter, please contact the phone number printed on the back of your card.

Sincerely,
Payment Solutions
The Bancorp Bank

 Thanks, Peer!

I always thought it was weird that T-Mobile branched out into this type of business. I guess it really was just a little too far of a reach..

I’ve been told that April 15th is when the cards will be shut off. Too bad, I actually like this card since I got my paycheck a day early.

          Do you have a link?

        • Otacon the Blue Fox

No. The rep didn’t provide me with a link, unfortunately.

  • I got one just for the novelty of it and had 25.00 a week directly deposited on it.. never used it just let it sit there, now I’m faced with trying to figure out how to withdraw a couple grand.. I can only withdrawal a set limit every 24 hours via MAC machine, no way to transfer to another card or bank account… guess I didn’t think it through lol

Go buy get a cashiers check for the balance at any bank. Small processing fee is all you will lose.

      • Thanks for the info.. saves me a ton of MAC machine visits lol

You can still use the cards until the end of the year just can’t reload it.

It had been getting progressively worse.

Since start of year they weren’t even free anymore to purchase… although the purchase fee was credited back to you later.

And going back almost a full year, they started charging $5 monthly to those not having Tmo plan… even all mvno(you could avoid this with $500 monthly DD).

Not to mention some stores always had their “systems” down(at all times), at others the nincompoops didn’t know how to sell them or load them… How do you like find out after spending eons waiting in line…

This is March, I want to see headlines about how much T-Mobile has to spend on the 600mhz auction!!!

    • You’ll have to wait exactly two more weeks, just like the rest of us.
