Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ official, launching at T-Mobile August 21 [UPDATED]

galaxynote5tmonews

UPDATE: I’ve reached out to T-Mobile and confirmed that it’ll offer the 64GB versions of the Note 5 and S6 edge+, too. Here’s how the pricing for the 64GB models will break down:

  • Note 5: Through September 30, JUMP! On Demand price will be $99.99 down and $24.34 per month for 18 months. Regular EIP pricing will be $99.99 down, 23 monthly payments of $28.34, and 1 payment of $28.18. Full retail price of $779.99.
  • S6 edge+: Through September 30, JUMP! On Demand price will be $99.99 down and $27.67 per month for 18 months. Meanwhile, regular EIP pricing will be $99.99 down, 23 monthly payments of $31.67, and 1 payment of $31.59. Full retail price of $859.99.

It’s finally here, folks. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is officially official, and it’s brought a friend with it.

As expected, the Galaxy Note 5 borrows from the design of the Galaxy S6, offering a metal frame and two slabs of glass that come together to create a more premium device than past Galaxy Note models. In the process of moving to a more premium build, though, the Galaxy Note 5 has lost the microSD slot that its predecessors offered. The Note 5 does include 32 or 64GB of storage, though, so you’ll have a couple of choices when deciding how much space you’ll need for all of your stuff.

Other specs for the Galaxy Note 5 include a 5.7-inch 2560×1440 Super AMOLED display and a 5-megapixel, f/1.9 camera on its face, and around back there’s a 16-megapixel shooter optical image stabilization and an f/1.9 aperture. Samsung’s also throwing in 4GB of RAM, a non-removable 3000mAh battery, Quick Charging, wireless charging, and Android 5.1 running beneath the company’s custom user interface.

galaxys6edgeplustmonews

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ has largely the same spec list as the Galaxy Note 5, including a 5.7-inch 2560×1440 Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, and Android 5.1. And like the Note 5, the S6 edge+ also lacks a microSD slot and removable battery. What it does have, though, is the same dual curved edge display found on the Galaxy S6 edge.

When it comes to color options, T-Mobile says that it’ll offer the Note 5 in Black Sapphire and White Peal, while the Galaxy S6 edge+ will be rocking Black Sapphire and Gold Platinum duds.

Both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ will launch in the US on August 21. T-Mobile says that its pricing for the Note 5 will be set at $0 down, 23 payments of $29.17, and one payment of $29.08 ($699.99 full retail), while the S6 edge+ will cost $0 down, 23 payments of $32.50, and one payment of $32.49 ($779.99 full retail). However, if you buy one of the phones with JUMP! On Demand before September 30, you can get special pricing: the Note 5 will be $0 down and $25 per month, while the S6 edge+ will be $0 down and $28.50 per month, each with an 18-month lease.

But wait, the offers don’t end there! If you pre-register for either the Note 5 or S6 edge+ before 11:59 pm PT on August 20 and purchase before September 30, T-Mobile will give you one year of Netflix for free. That means that you’ll have a full year of content to stream on these phones’ huge, high-res screens.

So now that they’re officially here, are any of you planning on picking up the Note 5 or S6 edge+?

Disappointing :( No talk of battery life….

  • EAS

I love how the VP talked on and on about how charging batteries is terrible and consumers do not want to deal with it, yet he never mentioned the size of the battery. And here it is, 3000mAh, not much bigger than the s6, but on a device with a huge screen. Battery is definitely going to be an issue yet again. I don’t care how fast it charges, I just want to make it through the day!

    • tirtawn

Pray hard that the extra 450mAH will last you till the end of day :).
      PS: S6 is 2550mAH.

      • EAS

I’m aware. I have an s6. And it doesn’t come close to lasting the day.

  • Jay J. Blanco

I’m just getting S6 Edge. WtF

  • mreveryphone

Note 5 for me. Writing on the screen while the phone is off is clutch!

  • Twomanychoices

That was a lame unpacking I like how they avoided battery size. Memory, and camera size, and very little on s pen. Almost like there ashamed to be there and want to leave the building as soon as possible. More time spent telling you how your lucky to get all these industry leading features. Let just say I wasn’t impressed .

    • jawash22

Agreed with all except Camera. They Added OIS in Video Recording, Rear Camera is f1.9 from f2.2 in Note 4, so low light and close ups performance is better, and they ffc went from a 3.7 to 5mp for those so important selfies :)

      • Toomanychoices

Yes but never showed any features. Will it have manual controls like LG g4. What mode will it have. No demenstations

  • NotImpressed

Good-Bye Samsung. We had a good run, didn’t we?

    • Acdc1a

The S5 was my last Sammy. Still sad about it.

  • alwaysBfrank

    No thanks

  • chevy

    When do pre orders start

  • Victor

Gonna get the note 5 and trade in once the LG g4 pro comes out

  • Jose Lugo

I’ve lost that loving feeling for the Note line . . . My Note 4 will be the last one :(

  • lomsha

    That’s early.

  • BNTR

I’m keeping my Note 4 until it’s paid off (on 4.4) and then I’m going elsewhere. Samsung has become bland in my opinion (had a GSII, GSIII, GSIV, Note2, and now Note4) with bloated disappointing software coupled with T-Mobile’s lack of testing/patches/proper update time frame. Were that many users yelling for smaller, non-removable batteries or for them to remove the Micro-SD slot? Consumers want options, and there are a good number of options on the block and coming up. I’m just not seeing it anymore…the excitement is gone.

    • WK80

The glass back doesn’t thrill me either.

    • Acdc1a

There are so many good options in the marketplace right now. I think you’d be hard pressed not to find what you need in handsets under $400 (see Moto X Pure). Samsung had better think outside of the box. This isn’t it.

    • vinnyjr

This is probably the biggest year for options for Android, T-Mobile has had them all. They even have the new Blackberries for sale.

  • Aurizen

Will this support band 12 right?

    • Yes. Every Android and Windows phone from here on out will support Band 12.

  • samsung will come back next year and spin the bad PR by saying “we listen to our customers so here’s a microsd card”

    • sameguyassomeguy

Exactly “ The Next Big Thing With SD Card”… That PR at its finest

  • Tailor00

I was really hoping for a 128gb version. This blows.

  • JayBEE

The Note 5 has become an iPhone 6+ running Android, so I surely will not be wasting my time with it. I’ll keep my Note 3 and pray that LG or someone else releases something better.

  • WK80

Nope nope nope nope nope. I will enjoy my Note 4 until it drops dead and move on.

  • Don Turner

Samsung how could you take my MicroSD Slot… #Downgrade from the Note 4…. I’ll check out the Note 6 next year. Hopefully you guys will get back to your winning ways!

  • Twomanychoices

Have to lower your expextation so they can talk about how they improved the not 6 next year. With bigger battery and sd card. Lol. While ipdates to note 5 destray it stability just in time for note 6 launch.

  • alwaysBfrank

I already have the s6 edge and it has terrible battery life , it stays on the charger and the note 5 is basically the same phone with more hardware and a bigger screen, I’m gonna wait on the new nexus or lg g4 pro{because I do miss the screen size I had on my note 4)maybe they’ll have bigger batteries or at least the lg g4 pro will have a removable one.

    • vinnyjr

If U shut off the LTE calling feature and GPS U will gain significant battery life. Have screen brightness on about 1/3, LTE calling off and GPS off until I need it. I get all day out of my SGS6.
PS if you use instagram, log out when done, huge battery drain.

      • alwaysBfrank

I will try thanks for the info

      • Christina W.

Thanks for the tips! Ill have to try that. It’s just funny if you think about it…You buy a phone with all these features and the only way to have decent battery life is to disable everything! hahaha Im starting to think, why not by a cheaper phone without the “amazing screen” that I have to turn down to 1/3 of the brightness…haha It looks worse than my Dad’s Moto G with auto brightness set. Take care!

      • Jaramie Black

Why buy a phone and have to disable all the features on the phone? This is just ridiculous.

  • dtam

Anyone else think it’s stupid of Samsung to name it a S6 Edge+? Name it a Note 5 Edge and then no one can claim you’re copying the naming convention of apple.

    • Mike

I see your point, but the would have had to include the s-pen then…as that is the distinguishing factor of the “note” line

      • dtam

I forgot about the s-pen part. still, they can name it something other than plus or +

        • Rdur

Samsung has already used the “plus” in their line of phones. Way before apple ever did.

          http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9001_galaxy_s_plus-3908.php

        • jawash22

True, but the point is they brought it back because Apple is using it. If Apple had named their phone the iPhone 6 Extra, I can almost guarantee Sammy would would have used “Extra”.

        • dtam

so they had 1 obscure phone in the past that happened to have the name “plus” in it. i’m pretty anti-apple but even this is a stretch.

  • gpt2010

Are the prices listed above for the 32GB or 64GB?

    • Victor

      32

      • gpt2010

If I did buy this phone. It would have to be the 64gb version. I will miss my micro sd too much though. This may be the year I finally pass up buying the latest and greatest in the Note line. Going to be tough. I guess I will have to be happy with my Note 4 for one more year. Damn shame. I pay off my phones before the new one comes out each year. Seems like I didn’t have to do that this year.

        • Victor

I think 32gb with a ton of cloud storage apps is perfectly fine

  • SirMakoto

i really don’t understand why sammy doesn’t include a 128gb version when the s6 and s6e does, and the edge+ has a $80 premium over the note 5 when all the difference is a dual curve and lack the s pen.

i was really hoping they’d make the edge+ with s pen, but they had to split it up. faster wireless charging is the only upgrade that i can see from the s6e, now that the 128gb s6e is only $750, it might seem like a better deal to buy, or maybe just hold on to my note 4 and see what the note 6 will bring to the table.

  • DT Trader79

What’s the payoff price if you decide to keep the device after 18 months with jump?

    • jawash22

I’m thinking 249.99?? I just took$25 per month x 18 months and subtract that from the 32GB 699.99 price. I think the discount really only works if you turn the phone in at, or before, 18 months. I could be wrong though!

  • Luis Espinal

Man im seriously disappointed. I think ill keep my g4 in jump on demand…that special pricing doesnt feel special to me for some reason. I was hoping for less than 20 bucks!

  • No Thank You

Glad I didn’t wait for the Note 5 to come out… really the only reason I updated from my Note 3 to the 4 was for Band 12 support….. other than coverage, I was pretty happy with my Note 3. I will be sticking with the Note 4 until it dies or until 600Mhz is up and running. The only thing that I like about the 5 is the wireless charging… but not enough for another upgrade to be worthwhile.

    • ltnstar

So do they both have band 12?

      • JBMTechTycoon

For T-Mobile, I think all phones after the Note 4 have band 12 support…

      • Yes. Every Android and Windows phone from here on out has Band 12. The US Cellular Galaxy Note II has Band 12, but it would need to be unlocked in order for the phone to the used on T-Mobile towers.

  • Deibid

$800 for a phone? No thanks. There are plenty of options that are available for half that (motorola, oneplus, nexus). It’s ridiculous how everyone thinks they should have the Ferrari of phones. Most people running around with the priced phones probably make much less than me, and I would never spend that much on a phone (I’m an Engineer). I guess different people have different priorities.

    • galaxyNote4isBoss

You get what you pay for cheap handset offer nothing compared to Samsung

      • Deibid

Sorry but you are completely wrong. The motorola, nexus, and one plus phones I have owned have been just as good or better in quality than Samsung both on hardware and software. The performance of them as well is the same. The midrange Motor G is always comparable to a midrange Samsung (just much cheaper) and the Moto X have always been the same with the high end ones. Look at the new Moto X 2015 and the new Moto G 2015..no reason to get an $800 Samsung over the Moto that are less than half the price.

      • George

Samsung sucks ass man, they have a terrible os and really bad lag for as much ram as their phones have. They have the worst customer service in the business as well.

    • 21stNow

True different people have different priorities. Some like high-end phones while others like nice vacations, luxury cars, fine wines or designer clothes. What one person considers a waste a money is another person’s enjoyment.

  • Melissa Cardenas

Dammit i just got my S6 edge when it first came out with tmobile lol oh well im good so far so good here no complaints i luv it .

  • Benben

Ill keep the lg g4 its the best deal right now

    • galaxyNote4isBoss

Definitely ready to buy both Note5 and S6Edge+ these are the GOLD STANDARD OF PHABLETS Worldwide period

      • Benben

        No

      • Philip

What gold standard? Did you know Samsung move up the release date bc of Apple show next month? Samsung is loosing shares and it will be with Note 5 too.

        • galaxyNote4isBoss

Nice try you don’t own any Samsung products of course not so that means any other android manufacturers device you own is the bottom rung of the android platform.

No wonder you hate the leader

        • Philip

I am using a Note 4 now. I will never buy a Apple product. It will be another disappointing sale for the N5.

        • And because of the Microsoft show shortly after the Apple show. Samsung knows that unlike the past 24 months, they’d lose to both Apple and Microsoft this time.

      • Sammy is king of Phablets for sure!

        • galaxyNote4isBoss

Buying 64gb Note5 and 32gb S6Edge+ next Friday and adding these bad boys to my Galaxy stable of products.

Real men talk with their wallets when it’s time to roll. I laugh at the typical haters and troll that occupy these threads on tmonews.

        • Michael Yen

You are absolutely right, no money no Samsung honey.

        • Kelly Stewart

I have been a big Samsung fan for years and I’m even disappointed. Good luck buying a 64GB note5 as they aren’t even mentioning that it will be available at launch, only 32GB.

        • Did you see the 128GB for T-Mobile on the Samsung site?

      • Frankwhitess

Dude…. You need to get off samsung payroll and actually comment from your heart.. Not what samsung is paying you to say.. No SD,… No battery… Wtf… What can be soo good about this?? It even comes with a smaller battery! Even a bigger “Wtf?!” ….. It’s time for “googleNexus6isBoss”… You need to surrender that screen name..

      • Actually, the Lumia 1520 is the gold standard of phablets worldwide.

  • jawash22

Might be a good time to get that N4 after they drop that price just to keep battery and sd options. I know people say its time to move on, but what to move onto that has Sammy’s awesome stylus? Is battery and sd worth losing that as it’s the biggest differentiation for the Note versus other phablets that all have huge screens but aren’t as useful w/o stylus support.

  • dcmtnbkr

Can someone explain why they got rid of the ir blaster? That makes 0 sense to me.

    • jawash22

Maybe they will put it in their new watch??? No clue :(

    • jonathan3579

I’m wondering the same thing. I use it all the time on my phones.

  • francob911 .

This Sucks NO SD card… Well time to change to LG G4 Prime or Sony Xperia Z5!

  • jawash22

There are mentions of 128GB versions of both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ on Sammy’s US website.

    • Louie McAllister

      I second that Samsung’s Web site definitely lists a 128gb Note 5

    • Alex Wagner

I’ve reached out to Samsung about that and am waiting to hear back.

  • 21stNow

As the owner of five Note phones and two Note tablets, this is a sad day for me. The rumors are true and I won’t own a Note 5.

Samsung likes to put out numerous models of the same phone. They could have done a Note 5 like the previous Note devices and a Note 5 Neo to catch the new customers with its “premium feel” (whatever that is).

While I’ve come to appreciate the S-Pen, I also appreciate the replaceable battery and the micro-SD card slot. Now it’s time to follow some LG G4 Pro rumors. :(

    • galaxyNote4isBoss

Good luck it never pays to settle for inferior products you’ll learn that lesson real soon.

You’ll be back and we’ll be waiting to say I told you so. Why settle for perpetrating products that’s pretty shameful.

      • watkins

Ummm the lg g4 pro is better then this pos in almost every conceivable way if rumors are to be true. Samsung has turned to crap.

    • J.J.

Unfortunately out of the millions of phones they sell people like us are the minority.(swap out batteries/have 70gb of content on phone). The masses will say ooh big, curved, and shiny and buy it, not sure if they will miss the fraction who will pass on this phone based on those specs. I almost shed a tear upon announcement

  • Ne0

That price is way too high, just wait and will drop a rock. Bhphoto is currently selling S6 Unlocked 128GB for $600 ! The new note 5 and S6edge + use the same process as S6 and S6+ I just don’t see reason to get the new one since price different is too great.

  • 1ceTr0n

Wow, what a complete and utter dissapointment Samsung. I’ve been a loyal Note user since the start but now….. you lost me. Whata complete fail

    • alwaysBfrank

      Same here. Note 5

  • 1ceTr0n

Maybe if the LG G4 Pro turns out to be what the Note 5 should I have been, I will jump camps

  • Eric Perry

why no 128gb option for the note 5?

    • tirtawn

If you see samsung website, 128 GB is there.

      http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/all-products

    • maestroalvarez

WIth no removable storage, you’d think that would be a no-brainer… you are so right!

    • Alex Wagner

Samsung’s announcement only lists 32GB and 64GB capacities, so it looks like there won’t be a 128GB option for these two models.

      • SEBA

Only at tmobile we get the color and memory limitations.

        • Fraydog

All the major US carriers have the same color limitations, and the way it looks, Samsung quietly added a 128 GB option on their own website.

    • watkins

Lol this device is a freaking joke

  • Twomanychoices

Looks to me that the only ones Samsung listened too was Profesional review sites like gsm arena and phone arena and so on. That prays the new metal design and small battery and fast memory. But On like them who use the phone for three days before going on to a new phone to review were stuck using a down graded metal brick attached to a power umbilical cord that we yell at while our data cuts out attached to a cloud that goes in and out.

  • kenfred24

There are so many options comparable to removable batteries that it doesn’t even matter with charging sticks ect, and with dropbox, one drive, ect. Storage doesn’t matter as much either… change is good not bad

    • steveb944

That’s for you and the majority. Power users on the other hand will have to stay with LG.

      • watkins

He’s the minority. Just watch the sales for this thing.

  • Jaramie Black

I’ll stick my with LG G4…I like the Note 5, but its just not what I want in a phone right now. I like having expandable storage and the option to go from 0% battery to 100% in seconds.

PS: This phone copies the iPhone 6 Plus in so many ways…kind of funny.

  • Victor

Just saw one at tmobile now. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nicely builded phone but I don’t see nothing special about it… I’m 50/50

    • jonathan3579

      They have dummies out already?

      • Victor

Yes and ones that turn on

        • jonathan3579

Nice! Thank you! Did they have both phones or just the Note5?

        • Victor

Both. The edge was nice but I prefer the note 5

      • Victor

        Yes

  • Victor

I’m one of those people who seen a major difference in the note 3 and 4 screen main reason I Purchase the 4 last year. Having my note 4 and 5 together today I didn’t see no difference in the screen

  • IMHO

I luv the Note line but I’m not failing for the okie dop. I know next year they will have the Note 6 with SD card slot. I can see the commercial now. The Next Big Think, with Lebron James swapping out SD cards out of Note 6. I’ll think I’ll pass

    • I don’t think the Galaxy line, outside of the Tab and Note Tab lines, will ever have an SD card slot again. Samsung is trying to copy Apple now.

    • mrpickem

SD cards are thing of the past…just move on or be relegated to older Note series. 64GB is plenty for most and then there’s cloud storage.

      • watkins

Lol SD slots may be a thing of the past for Samsung. Not for other devices. Lg g4 pro it is. The cloud sucks.

  • no2apple

NETFLIX offer only for 9K people..

  • Kelly Stewart

What about the 64GB model? I can’t get by with just 32GB of storage after my note 4 32GB and a 64GB sd card. Looks like I’ll have to check out the LG G4

  • no2apple

WHY would anyone want to do EIP when the JOD is cheaper??. IF you buy at the end of 18 mmonths, its $100 cheaper
Also is NETFLIX offer available for JOD customers??

    • Mike

Your purchase option at the end is the difference remaining from original full retail. Don’t think you’d be saving $100. Good question on the Netflix though. That would be incentive to get the note 5 now then jump to the g4 pro soon when it comes out and enjoy the year Netflix lol

  • Richard Roma

When is T-Mobile going to allow pre-orders?

  • Illuminati

lol if t mobile doesn’t carry the 64gb version that’s just pathetic. I’m not getting any phone with just 32 anymore

  • mreveryphone

The note 5 64gb price isn’t bad at all. Next friday can’t come soon enough! Sammy finally got the announcemant and realese right. That’s one apple thing I’m definatly glad they copied!!!

  • JDB

Why would anyone pay these insane prices when there are so
many affordable unlocked phones available in the market today or very shortly
for under $400 (One Plus 2 (yes I am aware of the invite system), Moto X Pure,
Nexus 5 2015 to name a few). Samsung is
out of their mind if they think they can sell me a smartphone for $800 these
days. My last two phones have been a
Nexus 5 and One Plus One, both cost $350, both were great phones.

    • no2apple

One plus is CRAP> Ok with moto

    • JaswinderSinghJammu

I agree Samsung is becoming the new Apple of sorts. I am going to stay clear of Samsung for now.

      • EFG1968

Me too. I can’t believe what they have just done. I might as well go to the next Nexus.I had been looking forward to this phone so much. The only thing I like is the new S-pen command menu and I think in a few weeks developers will have it ported on some form or another to the XDA Developer site for the Note 4 on some ROM. I had never bought one a Nexus because I wanted an SD card and removable battery. Now there is no reason not to. An S-pen, as much as I use it on my NOTE 4, is not worth the extra $200 -$300+ Samsung wants. The next Nexus will be Chinese made and it will be a lot cheaper and have comparable specs and almost instant software updates to Googles new Android releases. Something that Samsung has only done once for the Note 4 in the year I’ve owned it.

    • Chris

I wouldn’t want OnePlus experience again. The OPO experience was just bad.

      I agree on Nexus though.
And probably Moto X Pure Edition

    • eanfoso

Because t mobile likes to suck up to Sammy, I too use unlocked phones and feel bad for the people that fall for the jump programmes

  • Illuminati

Thanks for the update Alex on the 64gb offering. Looks like T Mobile is getting my money again for the next phone.

    • eanfoso

Don’t do it bro, it doesn’t have removable memory and at high quality you’d only be able to record 1 hr 20 min assuming you don’t have any apps or music or pictures, stick with Sony or even note 4

      • Illuminati

        I barely even take photos

        • eanfoso

Even then you’ll get a much better camera, a bunch of Sony goodies and more importantly a more premium device than Sammy that will be good for much longer, plus better selfie camera (in case you do snapchat)

    • francob911 .

If you are a true Illuminati you know that that LG G4 Pro or the SonyXperia Z5 will be better than the Note 5 I mean even the Note 4 is Better

      • Illuminati

        They have S Pens too?

  • Philip

Everyone have the N5 for order except T-mobile. They only have a pre registration page. LOL

    • SEBA

Maybe they going by pacific time

    • jonathan3579

Yeah and they won’t say when you can pre-order. They’re just referring everyone to pre-register.

    • Morton H

      Lmfao

  • YABD

3 months later, all prices will be $300.00 off. I will wait tick tock, tick tock, tic tock.

    • no2apple

3 years later 500 off.. You are all set..

      • YABD

where I can get a dummy for free?

    • mrpickem

lol…maybe $100 discount within 6 months but no significant drop for a year until the next iteration comes along. This is the new generation of smartphones. You can always go G4 or Moto X…otherwise all flagships now have fixed memory & non removable batteries.

  • alex

i am on jump on demand, got s6 edge for 32.95 monthly a month ago..

should i jump on s6 edge plus given it is cheaper now?

i do like a bigger screen.

    • steveb944

I think it’d be worth it if you really want the newer offering. Especially if you’ll potentially be paying less.

      • jonathan3579

Unless the IR blaster is something that is used. I’m completely baffled why they’d omit that on these two devices.

        • steveb944

Samsung just keeps removing things as time goes along this year.

  • Mjsun

Is the note 4 edge still available at tmobile stores? I don’t see it on their website anymore.

    • Twomanychoices

Yes but I would call ahead of time they only have what on hand.

    • Brianna

the note edge is limited in stores until they sell out. It has been discountinued with them. I called all the stores in my area saturday and they were sold out.

      • BoricuaBoy88

Crap. I was gonna wait until October to get one. I guess I’d better start saving now, if I’m gonna have to pay out of pocket for one online. Good thing they’ve dropped in price dramatically.

  • Cam Fas

Smh 64gigs only? I thing I will keep my 128gig iPhone 6Plus still getting the S model the question is will the note5 has carrier aggregation for all the bands? That’s what would really be nice bond bands 2-4-12 and any other bands I am not thinking of at the moment because no one only wants 5+5 of700mhz but if you zip it with the rest get ready for insane speeds

  • Richard Roma

Anyone got any news on when we can actually pre-order these handsets? AT&T has been live for a while now.

  • Benben

    Crazy prices over nothing

  • emcdonald75

Is there no special pricing with the 64GB versions of each phone? I just see special pricing with Jump On Demand and regular Jump with the 32GB versions of each phone. Can someone provide clarification.

    • Twomanychoices

It the 32 gig price +100 dollars cashup front. in other word 100 dollars for 32 gigs more.

  • Frankwhitess

Note 4 it will be with 128gig SD… I’ll also add 2 extra battery..

  • DKBNYC

Wait, the S6 cost more than Note 5?

  • no2apple

So if you buy on JOD they are $100 cheaper ( assuming u purchase after 18 months)
if you do EIP its still $100 cheaper due to NETFLIX offer?? Unless u get NETFLIX on JOD which I doubt

    • no2apple

Netflix offer good on JOD guys.. nice..

  • noc007

Thanks for the update on the 64GB pricing and payments. Any details on the 128GB including any JoD special pricing as well? Supposedly it’ll be offered on T-Mo: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-N920TZKFTMB

    • Alex Wagner

I reached out to Samsung about it earlier today, but still waiting to hear something back.

  • Hopefully, Samsung will make an Ativ Note or a Galaxy Note for Windows.

  • endgame

All the rumors were true, massive FAIL, extremely disappointed no matter how the Samsung shills put lipstick on this pig. Can’t believe that after waiting a year for the Note 5 I am now facing choosing between the best non-Apple clone (Note 4) or waiting for specs on the LG4 Pro or the Nexus 2015. Aarrggh!

    • francob911 .

Dont forget the Sony Xperia Z5 its for sure has a finger print scanner and water proof

    • eanfoso

I second the xperia man no need to downgrade to another devices.

    • BoricuaBoy88

Note Edge seems like a decent middle ground option. Still not a gigantic upgrade from the Note 3, but different enough, and with more features than the Note 4 to justify the switch.

  • I’m awaiting the Lumia 940 (or 950) XL. Samsung’s Stagefright phones can DIAF.

  • Keeper…

For me (only), I decided to make the Note 3 my choice… today and for the next few months. It is to pricey to keep upgrading…. and jumping to every new device that is release in a matter of days or months.

  • mrpickem

I’m in. gimme a 64 GB Sapphire Note 5! I’ll keep my 4 around just in case I don’t like it. I must admit some of the features are lacking, but stylistically it’s a definite win!

    • watkins

Just wait for the g4 pro to drop. This phone is a blatant rip off

      • Shack

Dude we get it i. stop trying to sell a phone that that is not out yet .Smh

        • watkins

I don’t think you get it. Just helping out.

  • Android_God

Holy F**K! There are F***ING ADS on the pictures you post now? Do you need me to lend you a few bucks?

    • Give us a break

Gives us a break, The potty language is so inappropriate and unnecessary for the readers of this site…

      • Android_God

Ok princess, let me get you some tissues and a Midol.

        • Site…

Yes, please do..tissue can go both ways, Right?!!

    • Richard Roma

Unfortunately, sites like these cost money to run. Their mommy isn’t paying for everything like some.

    • Ascertion

I don’t see any ads, but I’m running some sort of extension on my browser. :)

    • Mike Palomba

I got Adblock a few days ago, it’s free and it makes a world of difference. Reading this site with no ads is a very nice experience

  • BillSmitty

Any word on the S6 Mini? I’m just not a fan of these big phones and don’t want an iPhone.

    • francob911 .

      Lol

  • francob911 .

No IR blaster …. No removable battery… No expandable memory thats 3 negatives Now for sure my next New phone would be between LG G4 pro … Sony Xperia Z5 or even the Nexus 2015 if it has expandable storage

  • jralphroman

Should I jump to the Note 5 from the G4? Is the Note 5 worth $5 a month more?

    • Victor

Same here don’t think it’s that bad of an upgrade

    • watkins

Hell no. I’m waiting for the g4 pro to drop in October. Everything about this new note screams pos.

      • jralphroman

No guarantee that phone is coming too T Mobile

        • watkins

If i was a betting man id put my money on it. Lg is not missing out on those sales.

    • mreveryphone

Jump! G4 is a fail ….numbers don’t lie. Note 5 is on the cutting edge. G4 isn’t cutting a damn thing!

      • notBuying

You sound like a car salesmen.

        • watkins

          He sounds like a sheep.

    • Enrique Escobar

      i would

  • Victor

Gonna purchase the note 5 and if the LG g4 pro impresses me then I’ll switch over.

  • mreveryphone

Everyone keeps saying G4 pro…seriously… The g4 pro will not even come close to competing with the note… The note 5 has way to many features to even be in the same conversation period…

    • watkins

What kind kind of crack did you smoke today? With the g4 pro your getting a premium device that not only looks better then this iPhone knockoff but doesn’t skimp out on battery or micro SD. Not to mention it has a better camera. I can live without the spen.

      • mreveryphone

Battery and sd card…lol… Battery maybe but the sd card slot is an afterthought… The g4 pro will be nothing but a failing g4…internal memory is big enough and fast enough not to warrent a slow unreliable sd card. Nothing can touch the s pen period but you don’t need it so enjoy lg and their 2013 specs.

        • Victor

Build quality I know Samsung is light years ahead of LG. I’m definitely gonna purchase the note 5 and if the LG g4 pro wows me then I’ll make the switch over. Nothing but specs now I need to handle the actual concerning both the note and LG phone

        • mreveryphone

Unless they add some innovative feature the g4 pro will be a flop just like the g4 is. Samsung is the only company that took a chance and redesigned the smartphone with curved edges. Weather you think they are usefull or not they took a chance…putting leather on the back of a phone is a waste of resources…

        • Victor

Don’t get me wrong I’m against the removal of the battery and SD but I’ll try my best to welcome samsung new vision. Once again the LG g4 pro has to blow me away

        • watkins

It’s not a new vision and you’re blind as hell if you actually believe that. Just look at the pricing of these devices. That’s for 32gb starting… They’re trying to Apple us. Take away removable battery and memory, put a glass back on the phone. What do you have? A freaking iPhone… Android users aren’t stupid.. Well at least most of us aren’t.

        • Unfortunately, commenters on TmoNews (and Android Central, for that matter) are few and far between. The average Android user probably doesn’t even care about the absence of such features.

        • watkins

Well time will tell if you’re right or not but if Samsung wasn’t satisfied with sales of the s6 pissing off its note users is not gonna make things any better.

        • shack

Why do you sound so upset. No one is forcing you to buy the Note 5 . Every comment someone write you start talking about the lg g4 like a car sales man .chill out everyone don’t have to like the samething .

        • Victor

There’s many other companies to choose from. I prefer to try out the phone first before making any judgement

        • Twomanychoices

Dude your just a giant insult. I have note 4 and LG g4 for two weeks now and it works like a champ. U must be a phony with the name your using . Sound to me like all you praise is Samsung. I bet your the type to buy one brand of car too. And even if they gave you a lead brick with a 4 gallon tank you would brag how great it is while insulting other brand you never even tried

        • mreveryphone

It’s not an insult… Numbers don’t lie. Yep that’s what I do when I buy a car… Your so smart lol. Lg didn’t do it for me, I’m glad it worked out for you… Uh oh… I gotta get back to my lead brick with a 4 gallon tank…….

        • watkins

If you think 32 or 64gb is big enough you are not a power user… And really? Slow unreliable sd card? Because streaming your stuff off the cloud when that little bit of built in storage gets filled is waaaaayyyy faster right? Lol stick with this trash. Lg is about to take a huge dump on Samy

        • mreveryphone

How can you determine if someone is a power by the storage they use…? All you do is listen to bloggers and side with them. I know plenty of users that have 32gb of storage and are power users. They don’t want their phone cluttered with tons of music and pics. They are about their business and have important documents on their phones. 64gb is perfect for me. I have movies, music, pics, and work documents on my s6 edge with about 14gb left to spare. I ordered a portable rapid charger off amazon and I’m cool. The note 5 will give me the ability to work with pdf’s right on my phone amongst other features that power users need. No g4 pro or Sony phone will come close to being able to do that.

        • Philip

I want to put over 100 pawn movies on my phone. Now I cant do it with N5. There is nothing left to spare.

        • watkins

Once again.. Proof that you don’t know wtf you’re talking about. If you actually do use this device for business you would know that 64gb is a complete joke. PDF files can become huge. I have multiple 128gb micro SD cards that are filled that have to be swapped for work stuff… That’s not to mention a personal card that’s almost filled with music and movies. How is 64gb enough? I can edit PDFs just fine on the note 4 so wtf are you talking about there? Lol sheep. 14gb to spare are you serious? Yes that shows you are not using your device like a power user

        • mreveryphone

Again…you don’t know how I use my device. PDF’s don’t take up a lot of storage but there’s no sense in arguing with an inferior individual that doesn’t have the resources to really take a deep dive into this smartphone world… You think the G4 is cutting edge. You and your thoughts are a complete joke…

        • 69

lol the g3 was a completely loss to lg..last time i used it i thought i was using a phone from the 2000s where it would freeze all the time..and their ui sucks balls as much as sammy’s tw

        • Gar1
    • Notbuyingit

You must work for Samsung because no one else has your distorted vision.

      • mreveryphone

Nope I don’t. I get every phone hence my name. Htc didn’t do it for me this year. Sony is in a identity crisis, and lg……yikes. Maybe next year they’ll step it up.

        • watkins

Lol you don’t belong here commenting on phones you have no clue wtf you’re talking about

        • mreveryphone

Ha! You mad bro? You don’t like to hear other people’s opinions? It seems you don’t belong here if you can’t take people’s responses that don’t jive with yours! I’m sorry if you don’t have the ability to try every phone out like I do. All you can do is read the reviews on tech sites and form your opinion. I live this sir so please only comment when you truly can spend significant time with each phone. Can you do that?

        • Philip

How do you explain what is good when it is taking features (no remove battery, no sd slot, no IR blaster) away?

        • mreveryphone

Battery will be determined when we get some real results, no one has had it yet… sd slot isn’t needed anymore, you have ample storage options now and the new memory is stable and fast unlike sd cards. IR blaster… I’m on the fence about that one. I use it often but I also have a onscreen UI with my cable provider with the their app so I can stll use my phone to control my tv…

        • watkins

He can’t. All this guy is going to do is come up with a thousand excuses for why you don’t need these features because he’s up Samsung’s anus. Just wait for the g4 pro if you want everything this phone should have been.

        • watkins

Lol practice what you preach before you start putting all this nonsense out here “mreveryphone” your comments alone show that you’re full of it. You’re not about that life. You’re a fan boy.

        • thepanttherlady

          @mreveryphone:disqus @disqus_eFF211vHEg:disqus

Since the conversation has taken a personal turn, let’s end it here. You both have your own opinions and that’s ok but let’s please get back on topic. :)

        • mreveryphone

Please you don’t even know me to make that assumption. Your just mad that you don’t have the access or resources that I have. Continue to be upset at yourself and make immature comments. You don’t even know how to use the term FANBOY but look who’s product you are pushing… So who’s really the fanboy…Maybe thats all you can afford is LG products so thats all you can speak on.. We see what life your about…

        • mreveryphone

And your comments show your a LG fanboy…

        • mreveryphone

Just like the LG fanboy you are. telling everyone to buy the g4 pro. looks like you need to look at yourself first!

        • mreveryphone

It’s obvious your a LG fanboy with all your lg references… So who’s the fan boy now?

      • alwaysBfrank

LOL, I don’t know have read any of galaxyNote4isBoss posts

    • That’s why you get a phone with a different OS if you don’t like the direction the Galaxy lounge line has taken.

  • shack

I actually like the phone and plan on getting it . looks sleek . I put a case on all my phones so IIT being slippery doesn’t matter .

  • It appears there is a 128GB model for T-Mobile, it’s ok the Samsung Site. However, I wonder when or if they will sell it.

    • nycplayboy78

      Indeed

  • Smh. Once I heard they followed the design of the S6, I knew I wasn’t going to get 1. I have a Note 3 and had been waiting for the Note 5, too bad was waiting for nothing. No sd card is a dealbreaker for me, no removable battery as well, and they put that small ass battery- smh. Samsung has gone so far away from themselves it’s ridiculous. No thoughts to its customers, especially the Note customers. If you are going to go in a new direction, you have to do it better than everybody else and 3000 mAh ain’t going to get it. And no 128GB version? Not to mention if I absolutely have to go without an SD card, I’ll go Nexus, Pure Android, no waiting. I’ll probably be going with Moto X Pure or LG’s next high end.

  • kclb

smh. can’t even pre-order on the t-mobile site. all other wireless carriers can pre-order. bleh.

  • Rod

I’m conflicted. I love the Note series. Coming from Palm OS, the S-Pen is a godsend. However the N5 is a horrible phone. I want this phone to flop harder than the S6 did so that Sammy might bring back microSD and removable battery. But I’m terrified they just might take it as a sign to kill the Note series all together (The Note 5 isn’t getting released in European territories in favor of pushing the S6 edge +)

    • Ascertion

I really like the new design, but they compromised way too many features making it happen. Maybe their design team next year will finally realize a bigger battery will sell better. Oh, also an SD slot.

    • Poed

They may as well kill it if this is what they are going to do. I’m sure as h not buying it.

    • BoricuaBoy88

I won’t mind having an embedded battery if they increase the capacity to at least 3,800MAh-4,000MAh+. With a capacity like that, it should last so much longer between recharges, that you wouldn’t need to worry about the battery going bad on you, due to not needing to go through as many charging cycles. Unless it’s already defective out of the box. Then you’re screwed. Micro SD support is a must, though. So is the IR Blaster! Take ”note”, Samsung! This is what we want in the Note 6!

  • galaxyNote4isBoss

Definitely buying both August 21st. It’s always been pretty much plain and simple for me since May 2011 nothing beats Samsung they are technology and android nothing else matters.

    • Richard Vasquez

No ir blaster is really bumming me out

      • JJCommonSense

The ones i played with in best buy did have an IR blaster

        • taron19119

Are u sure it was note5

    • mingkee

      Only you will buy Samsh_t.

    • Bishop

The Note 5 and the GS6 Edge + are old news, the GS7 and the GS7 Edge are boss, period. Buy an outdated Note 5 and GS6 Edge+ because you can’t afford the GS7 and GS7 Edge. They are so advance, they run circles around the Note 5 and any other phone in the planet! Nothing beats the GS7 and GS7 Edge, Period!

Switch it up please, troll a bit more creatively or something.

      • J.J.

As soon as I read “period” I lost it lol

  • mrpickem

So, as I see it. $707 for a 64GB GN5 with JoD. $99 down plus $438 ($24.34×18) plus $170 buyout = $707 plus taxes obviously. Seems like a good deal to me, along with a free year of Netflix to boot.

Correct me if the pricing isn’t correct, but no need to un-sell me because I am SOLD!

    • Cellphone Chris

RRP is $779.99, making your buyout $241.88, not $170. This is before adding sales tax based on the RRP as well. If you plan on keeping the device, you’re probably better off using standard EIP so that you can avoid the balloon payment.

      • mrpickem

I thought buyout was 1/4 price. And the $99 down comes off full price reducing the amount financed. Are you sure?

        • Cellphone Chris

Buyout is the remaining amount. It would only be 25% of amount financed after 18 months if you are on EIP, because the payments are divided equally. JOD lowers your monthly payment by taking into account the residual value of the device at the 18 month mile marker, the same way a vehicle lease payment is less because you’re financing the difference between the MSRP and the residual value at (typically) 36 mos./36K miles.

        • mrpickem

OK, I think I get it now. You pay the $779 no matter what. In the iPhone deal since it’s a bill credit after the normal JoD you would actually save the $216 over original price. With this one the rental is reduced so you get no savings other than to defer the payment.

        • Cellphone Chris

Correct. Unless T-Mobile is running a special promotion that we haven’t heard yet. I believe the iPhone deal is a special offer.

    • NotSoldYet

A yes man! This Note is a downgrade. No doubt about it. I hope no one buys until Samsung quits trying to make an iPhone and puts back what it took.

      • emcdonald75

I’m stuck between the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus or an Apple 6S Plus. Both choices will be 64GB. It was really iPhone all the way (just to try something new) until T-Mobile threw in the Netflix offer. I pay each month now for Netflix so that would give me a break of payments for a year. Lol. I will have to wait and see if iPhone can woo me. I hope they introduce fast charging and improved battery life. Since I have started reading books more on my phone, I’m all about the battery life now.

  • Android_God

Complaining about battery life before you even know how long the battery will last on a charge… that’s rich. #entitled #1stWorldProblems

    • Battery _Okay

Whose panties have you been wearing…?

      • Android_God

Your dad’s. He’s got a lot of explaining to do.

        • Battery…

LOL, and You should Know…LOL, LOL..Now let us post with civility for the the grest readers of this Site!

    • shack.

      That’s a great point .

    • Rod

Considering that it has a faster processor AND a smaller battery, quips about battery life are a valid concern.

      • BoricuaBoy88

And a larger screen. The S6 had average battery life at best, in many cases, it was panned as being sub-par.

      • Android_God

It’s just bitching and moaning and making up something to be pissed about. To complain about something that ISN’T AFFECTING YOU whatsoever is a mental illness

  • Irfan

changing the martial and design language is same .. its sucks

what is so good in those Samsung phones …same thing from last 5 years

adding and subtracting feathers and called new phone ..BS

  • watkins

G3 is old news man. That phone was a disaster. Times have changed now.

    • mreveryphone

G4 is the same disaster with a leather back lol

      • watkins

Lol not even remotely close to the disaster of this launch

        • mreveryphone

Right the g4 launch is worse…

  • JJCommonSense

While I am very critical of samsung for leaving out the microsd slot AND not offering us a 128 gb version.. (WTF I thought the note was for productivity!!).. i actually had a chance to play with these devices hands on and theyre pretty sweet. Essentially theyre blown up versions of the S6/S6edge but with 4gb of ram they should be blazing fast. Whats interesting is that, just earlier in the day i received a replacement for my defective note 4.. and i was making sure all my pics and documents and whatnot were all saved to the SD card to make an easy transition to the new device. How the hell am i to do that with the note 5? Smart Switch? That’ll take forever…. plug it into a PC? Le SIGH! i guess if my info was that valuable id back it up anyway..

    • nycplayboy78

JJ Le SIGH indeed….This is just a hot mess with Sammy….I have the Galaxy Note Edge and I am looking to upgrade but it looks like either the Moto X or an LG phone (UGH) or maybe even Oppo or the new Nexus from Hwawei……

      • thepanttherlady

Or the Sony Xperia Z5+…… =D

        • nycplayboy78

PantherLady….OMG…Yes I forgot about that little gem thank you :)

      • JJCommonSense

Well.. dont sleep in the LG G4.. i have one as my backup phone and its pretty much a beast…the screen isnt as vibrant as the note 4s but the battery life for me has been pretty outstanding. It had become my go-to device for camera since everything loads up so quickly. The 8mp front facing camera is good too.. Im always complimented on the selfies i take with other people.. it has a front facing “flash” mode that helps to take some pretty fantastic shots

        • LookingAround

That thing takes RAW pics too. It is very tempting on my next round. By then there should be another version. Lets hope LG keeps the battery and SD card availability.

      • BoricuaBoy88

Funny. I have the Note 3, and I was looking to upgrade to the Note 5, until the specs got leaked. Now, I’m upgrading to the Note Edge! I’ll wait for next year to see what they do with the Note 6. Obviously, the design won’t change much, but let’s see if they’ll re-implement features that were taken out this time around, AND FOR GOD’S SAKE, A BIGGER BATTERY!!!

    • vinnyjr

I called T-Mobile, the 128gb option IS available on the 21st of August.

Are you SURE about this?? The Verge had a report that the 128GB version was NOT to be offered, and Sammy had to retract it from its site (although it may have a future release, they were definitely siting that it would NOT be in the initial release of products for carriers) – according to them anyway…

        • vinnyjr

I called and was confirmed but who knows. Just ruined my day if this isnt true. It really sucks when you call in and they confirm something and then you read about it not being true. That really pisses me off.

      • steven berson

I went to my local tmobile store and they took my information and will hold one for me to pick up on the 21st. Was told they would carry the black and gold only (32 & 64 gb only) This is initial launch its possible towards the end of the year they may launch the 128gb.

  • ibanyan

All of the other carriers are allowing you to pre-order these devices as of 3pm yesterday, but T-Mobile is only allowing your to “pre-register”. T-Mobile is not being at all clear about when you can actually place your pre-order, and when you’ll receive the phone. Pre-ordering on the other carriers means your device will arrive on 8/21, but with T-Mobile, you’ll only be told on 8/21 that you can now buy them. Does anyone else have better information on the T-Mobile pre-ordering, or is it just as useless as it sounds?

    • Victor

Was told this Monday to process order to have phone on the 21st

  • Bryck

No SD card, no thanks. I will be jumping to the Moto X- style for a better Android experience, and a cheaper price. First Moto X, so I’m pretty excited, because I can’t wait to get rid of the Note 4. Nothing but problem from day one. Very disappointed with Samsung, I definitely expected better.

    • nycplayboy78

      Agreed….

    • TaylorW86

The Moto X Style is not being sold by T-Mobile, so how can you Jump to it?

      • J.J.

        Jumping(switching) not JUMP’ing lol

  • no2apple

Getting Note 5 on JOD for $25 – $9 NTFX= $16/Month. Do JOD upgrade on Note 6 and get another NTFX.. Nice deal..

    • JJCommonSense

What is NTFX?.. nevermind just realized netflix

  • Victor

Some AT&T customers are expecting the phone to be delivered on Monday. Tmobile hasn’t given any info to when the pre order will start… Last year the IPhone 6 release was a disaster, I don’t know why tmobile is always being the 8 ball when it comes to information and releasing new devices… It’s very frustrating

  • Android_God

Some of you aren’t taking this phone personally enough. It’s as if Samsung came to your double wide and pinched a deuce on your copy of tractor quarterly…..

  • FiredIsay

If you GAVE me a Note 5 and told me I could keep only one phone I would keep my Note 4. Samsung is fired.

  • michael

I like it and am getting it, i just wish they offered more than black or white tired of the same two colors to choose from

    • superg05

yeah I don’t like that they only get all the color options for apple devices(just looked up models on Samsung site I don’t think colors make it to the US)

  • michael

thats almost a deal breaker for me Tmo needs to offer the other colors even if its on an order only basis

  • they both lost the microsd card option? so much for “upgrading”

    • mrpickem

Lucky you, Note 4 discounted to $549

  • Felix Monserrate

Read on GSMArena that a128gb phone will come out later in the year.. Will wait until then

    • mrpickem

      Haha…fantasy world

  • Note Fan

I am a very big fan of the whole Note series, However, I am very disappointed with the Note 5, that is, the specs (no external memory, fixed battery). So for Now, I will coninue use my Note 3 or maybe consider upgrading to the Note 4…

    • no2apple

      So note 5 costs 699- 107 (netflix discount)=592 and Note 4 costs 549.

So why buy 204 model for $50 less?? . Unless u really need SD and battery.

Im gonna buy Note 5 on JOD and jump they hell outta it to Edge +, Lg G4 pro whatever comes and to note 6 next year which will have SD hopefully.

      • Note Fan

Great points, thanks for the detail numbers and comparison, especially, the advantages to the JOD option.

        • no2apple

I have a note 3 as well. What I dont like is the width and thickness… Too fat for 2015…. I’m torn between Note 5 and Edge +. I checked at best buy. I have no use of pen. The note is slightly slimmer and height has increased for both. But edge + is great in width and thickness but not sure about those curves where u lose a couple of mm in screen size kind of.. and the fact that it costs $100 more. Looks fancy but Note 5 looks clean and neat and easy grip.

If you have note 3, no point to buy note 4 Unless you can get it for $300 or less… But still note3 and 4 are almost same in experience..

        • Note Fan

Again, thank you! And at this point and based on the numbers and details, the Note 5 is my choice..JOD.

        • Edgar

Another point in favor of the Note 5 is the fact that has no Qualcomm chip. Qualcomm and Samsung don’t mix together. They have had problems all over the place. That’s why Samsung announced this year that they were gonna make phones with the Exynos processor.

        • Note Fan

Awesome, thank you!!! I am a ten (10) year plus customer of Tmobile and I am looking forward to being one of the first to upgrade to the Note 5…

        • AngryBadger

Note 5 has been noted by reviewers to be very easy to hold/nice in hand. Looks like it as well (curved back, reverse of Edge series if you will).

  • lomsha

No preorder yet? Hurry tmo, other carriers are already shipping.

    • Victor

Tmobile is the worst when it comes to releasing new products

      • mrpickem

Not always, last year we had Note 4 at least a week before any other carrier. :)

  • Jack Lynch

Alright folks I need you help. I am on a Note Edge right now- currently owe $580 left on the phone, and my EIP is $36.25 monthly (HAHAHAHAHA). The website says I owe 145 before I can JUMP!- but it is telling me I am eligible for a JUMP! now and letting me select phones to JUMP to…not sure why.

Anyway, I have had my screen get a tiny crack on the side TWICE with this phone. The first time was in my 14 day remorse period and they let me exchange for a brand new phone. Now I have had it since November and was told I would have to do a warranty exchange (not an insurance claim since it looks like a defect and not abuse). I went ahead and did the exchange and now have my refurb as I was told the refurb would be easier to trade in than they one with the hairline crack in the screen.

I don’t know anything about JUMP!. I told the rep at the store I didn’t want it when I bought the phone and after walking out of the mall got a text welcoming me to JUMP!. I decided to try it out instead of cancel…anyways, I have had nothing but problems with this phone and its battery life and looking at the payments I feel really ripped off. I was thinking about getting the next Nexus and just paying cash for it, these EIP’s and insurances are a ripoff to me.

But I need your help understanding JUMP!. I believe I have the second version (the one before JUMP on demand). I was told my trade in value for the Edge is only $250 (again: HAHAHAHA!)… if I JUMP to say, the S6 Edge+ do I have to pay off the rest of the device that isn’t covered by the $250?? I was under the impression that if I JUMPed, as long as half the device was paid off, T-Mobile would take the phone and basically “erase” the remaining cost as long as I got a new phone and started making payments.

JUMP on demand is confusing me. It looks like if I decide to payoff the entire $580 on the Note Edge, and get the S6 Edge+ on JUMP on demand and drop my JUMP for 10$ a month, rather than paying $36.25 in EIP PLUS $10 for JUMP for a total of $46.25 a month, I could payoff my device and get the S6 Edge+ 32Gb for only $28.50 per month??! I know that Jump on demand doesn’t include insurance, but I don’t need it… and at almost $20 cheaper a month for a more superior phone?? I can’t be looking at this right.

If I am, I am in a rough spot. What should I do? Payoff the phone and sell the refurb before I start using it (Just came in the mail) and cancel my JUMP!? Trying to understand the numbers here…Just feels like continuing to pay for the phone at this price is a huge ripoff, especially when I have had nothing but issues with it. I’ve actually gone back to my NOTE 2 a few times as a result of the issues with this one….

    • Michael Ramos

Well what it says you owe vs what they’re offering to pay seem like a glitch or something. I would call TMO directly and ask how much you owe and what it will cost to jump. How it’s supposed to work is you get a phone on jump (the original , not on demand) & you either have a down payment to lower the cost of the monthly payments or you choose $0 down, from there you pay a month for the phone plus the jump price, then once you pay 50% of the phone your eligible to jump upgrade to another phone, as long as your old phone doesn’t have a cracked screen and turns on with no water damage, TMO will pay off the remaining balance (when they receive the phone). Jump on demand is different, your basically leasing the phone , and TMO allows you to “jump” to a new phone up to 3 times a year , no paying off 50% , just there whenever you want to “jump” to a new phone. If you like the phone you can keep it and just pay it off as well.

      • Jack Lynch

        Thanks!

So if my Note Edge is half paid off- can I send it back to Tmobile and end my JUMP! program and just buy some other phone off ebay or something? or do I HAVE to get a new phone from Tmobile for them to accept my old device and pay off the other 50%?

        • Michael Ramos

I’m not sure about that, I know they state in the contract that if you cancel the full amount of the. Phone becomes due. But since you just want to return & stay with tmobile I think they’d let you, I’d go into the store for that to ask and to turn it in. If your looking for a unlocked phone id look into the new moto x pure edition, it comes out next month I think, looks pretty awesome man.

        • Jack Lynch

Thanks! I have been eyeing the moto x pure. Also interested in the next nexus phone/s to see what they offer. Samsung has just gotten too much like Apple to me. The price does not equal value compared to other options, and the Edge completely rubbed me the wrong way after sticking with Samsung the last few years. I guess I will just call customer care and have a long conversation about what my options are :p

        • AngryBadger

          From TMO Site:

Can I move to JUMP! On Demand if I currently have JUMP!?

When you are ready to upgrade you can get a new smartphone with JUMP! On Demand. We will apply the trade-in value of your current device toward your EIP and you will need to pay off any remaining EIP balance. Then the $10 JUMP! feature will be removed and the ability to upgrade whenever you want will be included in your monthly phone payment.

        • AngryBadger

        • Jack Lynch

Thanks! I had read this on the website- but it doesn’t tell me what happens if I want to upgrade under my current grandfathered JUMP! plan, or if I will be forced to switch to on demand. Seems like switching to Jump on demand would be bad for me….paying 650$ for a phone that is barely 6 months old just to send it back to them seems like it wouldn’t be as good as Jumping once this is halfway paid off.

        • AngryBadger

oh, you can keep the old jump but have to make sure you tell them that. until further notice, we can keep our old jumps. but once you change to a new jump version, you can’t go back. so make sure you want it.
          Jump 1.0 – 6/mos, $10 insurance/jump fee
          Jump 2.0 – 50% balance. $10 insurance/jump fee
Jump-on-Demand (3.0) – 18mo lease/balloon payment keep option, no insurance / jump fee built in (insurance sold separately).

I like my jump 1.0, so I’m sticking with that one until TMO cancels that option (no end so far).

        • thepanttherlady

Just a small correction to your post.

The original JUMP! is 2 JUMP!’s in a 12 month period. You only had to wait 6 months when you originally added it. Everyone should be well past that point by now. :)

        • AngryBadger

ah yes, the 50% balance thing is what let you upgrade faster if you wanted iirc. Thank-you for that correction. TMO make you wanna… jump jump… lol

  • mrpickem

Can you please verify buyout amount on Note 5 64GB at end of 18 months. Jump on Demand calls for $99.99 down & $24.34 per month for 18 months. That totals $538.11…so how much to buy the phone…not including taxes.

    • AngryBadger

well, once TMO releases their full pricing you can deduct that total from the full-price. I doubt it will be less than 699.99 (note 4 debuted at that price). Jump on Demand has that final balloon payment if you want to keep it.

      • mrpickem

Yes I realize the baloon payment, just thinking the discount will be hadle in form or bill credit like the iPhone. $100 bill dredit hopefully will reduce $779 price to $669…hence $142ish payoff. These actual buyout amounts are not specified anywhere that I have fount officially, althought it has been said that it’s 25% of original price.

  • randomnerd_number38

So very glad I went ahead and got the wife the Note 4 earlier this year. She needs her sd card slot

  • guest

best buy has them on display if anyone wants to check them out

    • Kilroy672

I seen both and played with both the Note 5 and the Edge 6 plus. I really do like the looks and feel of the N5.The Samsung rep told me that all phone are probably going to be sd card free in the future. Went on to say that the phone runs faster without the sd card slot. If I use my Jump I’ll wait until next summer to use it and maybe by then the N5 might come down in price.

  • Richard Roma

Popped into a T-mobile store to check this out, man this is one nice handset. Sure the hardcore tech Droid fans will not care for it but for the rest of the world, you cannot go wrong with this. This makes my 6+ look like a toy.

On a side note, most people keep their phones in a case, so we don’t swap out the batteries. I’ve also never used the SD slot on any phone since my 2006 win phone.

  • Victor

Was just told by a tmobile sales rep the phone will be available on the 21st. All JOD & EIP orders will have to be made in the store on the 21st limited supply… Basically first come first serve

    • csmits

Why would there be limited supply? None of the other carriers have indicated a limited supply, in fact all of them are taking preorders and even shipping them out. 1 thing I learned from all of these years being withT-mobile, never ever trust a sales rep. Most of the time they have no clue what they are talking about. The kind of nonsense that comes out of their mouth sometimes is sad. Ofcourse you could be making this up as well.

      • Prod1702

I would say as a T-Mo rep myself that sometimes this is right, but not all the time. There are reps like myself that follow things like this and tell you what we know. Some Reps will pull some out of their asses just to tell you something. I do not.

        • csmits

Oh I absolutely agree and my apologies as if I make it seem that all the reps don’t know what they are talking about. I have met some great T-mobile sales people, but have to be honest, those are very few compared to the ones that don’t care and pull things out of their….

  • BoricuaBoy88

Anyone else wishing Samsung had released the Note 5 in that Emerald Green variant that the S6 Edge had overseas? It looked sick!

  • nycplayboy78

Any news on when the Moto X Pure will be released as well as the Sony Xperia 5+??!! Well at least Sammy is learning from Apple….Announce phone and then BAM release phone within a few weeks :)

    • thepanttherlady

Motorola tweeted and posted on their G+ page that the release date is 9/3 but then quickly deleted those posts.

As for the X5+, Sony is hosting the IFA press event 9/2 so *fingers crossed* they’re announcing something about this and the new Xperia’s at the event.

  • Mr. Mister

I gotta have this. My trade in Value on my S6 Edge is $511. I will have this device Saturday!

  • Philip

I saw these two new phone at the T-mobile store this past weekend. If you put the case on, you cant tell the difference in the N5 or N4. Its the same size n feel. This is a upgrade that goes sideway and down. I will keep my rooted N4 with KK 4.4.4 and unlimited hotspot till next year and then decide. Its sad for Samsung!

    • shack

I disagree about the same feel also the Note 4 is more of a box shape. Held both side by side. With a case it does look the same not surprising all phones do now a days . and surprised me of how slim and light it is . I will be getting the white one

  • SirHobgoblin

Anyone has any idea how the stock will be? Looking to get a 64 gb, any color, upon the local T-Mobile store opening on Friday. Any reason to get there really early?

    • Philip

First time I hear this. Did the CSR tell you this? Dont believe any of them.

      • SNAPPIN AND POPPIN

You’re the exact kind if customer we cant stand assisting. Always distrustful of information. You waste literally everyone’s time.

    • Jaiden Lee

all the 64gb ones are back ordered according to customer support and telesales. Estimated delivery is 4 days on a 64gb

  • shack

Why buy a note 4 that’s been out for a while now when u can just get a note 5 ?

  • TravelingCircus

i guess i will be waiting for galaxy s7 .not going to buy shitty note 5 for sure. Without removal battery zero lemon cant provide a 10000 mah battery like they did for note 4 . Samsung is releasing cellphones for the sake of releasing a new phone instead of actually upgrading . No wonder samsung is losing tons of business .

  • Myphone007

Anyone order the 64gb black note 5 and have it say not back ordered? I also believe from past experience, they only charge your Credit card when they ship? So if they charged me already, I assume they are shipping within the next 24 hours?

  • WhippetNYC

S6 Edge+: may i know if the 64gb version in Gold Platinum is in short supply or in abundance at TMobile? due to my need to go from regular Jump to the new Jump on Demand, I was told that I MUST go to a brick-and-mortar TMobile store, as a result, i have no choice but to hope for the store receiving inventory on the model i want! Hope someone has some information about this. Thanks in advance.

  • Myphone007

I find it really odd that this message section has ZERO traffic compared to previous launches. Every past launch, hundreds of you would post updates and problems.
Where is everyone and what is your story? Please don’t respond if you did not purchase and the reasons why.. I already know that… I want to know how you ordered and status update… did they charge you .. did you get tracking? etc..

  • Beautiful Trish

I want to upgrade but I’m kinda Skeptical… I love Samsung but the new phones are getting ridiculous. .. y would I want to buy a phone with no micro SD slot or a non removable battery…. that giving reason that if something was to happen to ur phone u must get another… when at the moment if my battery goes bad I can replace it, by ordering a new one… n it I want to get pictures out of my phone I can easily remove the SD card to do so…. or can buy extra memory if need be… these companies are looking for new ways to make money Instead of thinking of the convenience of the customer…

    • Beautiful Trish

To me it seems like they are trying to be to much like apple phones with these features n I absolutely hate iphones….

  • hack400

Got my Netflix code today and redeemed it without a hitch. Nice one T-Mobile…
