Saygus V2 Super-Powered phone available for pre-order, and it supports band 12

Saygus-V2

It’s not often a phone unavailable from most official outlets and carrier stores gets so many tech-fans excited. But at CES earlier this year, there were only a couple of phones that got my attention. First was obviously the second generation LG G Flex. The second was Saygus’ insanely specced hyperbeast smartphone. The relatively unknown manufacturer wowed us with an impressive spec list.

The company recently made it available for pre-order and it looks as though it supports virtually every LTE band going. Okay, that’s an exageration, but the spec list does reveal that it supports LTE bands 2, 4 and 12, which should make it a prime candidate for a T-Mobile SIM card.

Other specs (with no exaggeration) include:

  • 5-inch, 1080 x 1920 IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 4
  • Android 4.4.4 – With multi-boot capability from Micro SD card
  • Rooted, ready for custom roms
  • 21MP rear camera with OIS and LED flash
  • 13MP front camera with OIS
  • 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 chip with 3GB RAM
  • Stereo front-facing speakers
  • Harman Kardon sound technology with 3D audio
  • IR Transmitter
  • 3,100mAh removable battery with wireless charging support
  • 64GB internal storage
  • 2 Micro SDXC card slots, both expandable to 128GB
  • IPX7 waterproofing
  • NFC
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 60GHz wireless gaming and mobile beaming
  • Fingerprint side scanner
  • LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26
  • Available in black, pink or white

Apart from not having a 2k display, I’d say most of the numbers – on paper – look like word beaters. But of course, we know specs aren’t everything.

If you want to take a chance on the Saygus, you can pre-order it now for $599. If you pre-registered early, you get it for a special price of $549 using a unique pre-order code. Just don’t go expecting it to land on T-Mobile store shelves anytime soon.

geez. this phone…….why do u even miss samsung

  • Mike Palomba

Wow, even though that phone isn’t exactly the best looking its specs are amazing and the features that it has are incredible. This phone is probably better then the Galaxy s6 will be

I thought it was coming to the big 4 carriers…………

    • John Johnson

I know, right? If T-Mo carried this I would pay extra to use Jump! on it.

I’d have to use it and hear it first, but it’d probably be a winner.

Both the 1080p and 4.4.4 are both points in it’s favor in my book.

    • Deadeye37

Reading through the company’s FAQ, it looks like they will be doing certifications on each carrier, so this may wind up on T-mobile’s shelves.

      • Eric Stengrevics

Good, cause this is a serious contender for me and I’d wanna use JUMP!

  • YABD

Wow this is the way phone should be, open to anything and Powerful.

  • Chris Hilbert

Has IPS LCD been confirmed? I haven’t seen that anywhere.

  • YABD

I prefer the samsung note 4 screen. Super amoled looks better.

    • Jay Holm

I agree, AMOLED is better than IPS.

  • Joe

Definitely not a pretty phone but with all the power and Band support the looks start to not matter so much anymore. The one thing I want to know is what will the software support be like.

    • Deadeye37

The company is based in Utah, so I assume that support should be good. At least better than going with a foreign manufacturer with no support staff in the US.

      • Joe

Ya I know that it’s American
but it’s still a small company and there is no guarantee that you will get 2
        year of good software support.

  • Adrayven

I would say NOT having 2k would be GOOD.. I’ve compared till my eye’s bleed .. I just cannot see the different.. IMHO anything over 1080p in such a small form factor is just battery wasted..

Good to see some common sense rained instead of the screen ‘stat’ wh****’ mentality we’re seeing from some vendors. Do it if it makes sense and actually matters.

I actually like the looks of it.. not exactly like a clone of anything else out there.. interesting multi-boot feature..

  • CalicoKJ

Wow…I think I know what my tax return is going towards. Was going to wait on the M9, but this is extremely tempting.

    • CalicoKJ

Well…maybe not unless it’s gonna get Wi-Fi calling. @Tmobile was vague in their response when I tweeted to ask about it….

  • Stefan Naumowicz

This phone looks insane. The 2 features that stand out the most (in my opinion) is the OIS in the front camera and 320gb of potential storage. If the one plus one wasn’t so cheap id seriously consider buying this

    • Chris Hilbert

OPO is great except the missing LTE bands and HD Voice. This had the LTE bands and sounds like it’s doing certification so potentially has HD Voice.

  • Justsomecommentor

Where can I find the official spec list?

    • bob90210

The official website is a good place to start.

      • NOYB

Bands not listed there. Where is the source of that information?

        • bob90210

          GSM: Quad band(850/900/1800/1900MHz)

          CDMA: 850/1900MHz

          UMTS: Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8

          LTE: Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26

          from the official website.

        • Justsomecommentor

Oh, I found it. You have to look under FAQs, not specs, to find supported bands. Would be nice if that info were placed in the spec list instead of FAQs.

  • Trevnerdio

Holy crap that thing is insane…I would consider trading in my Edge for that. It evens comes pre-rooted! Yay for new company.

  • dtam

I don’t know, kind of pricey for a nice phone from an unknown manufacturer. OPO looked good at first glance but the customer support for it was terrible and that was half the price of this. With a strong company track record, $600 (or $550) is kind of a hard pill to swallow to be a guinea pig

    • Matt

Yeah, I wouldn’t drop that kind of money for an unknown – especially with ZTE offering the ZMAX with a larger screen and quad core processor.

    • gmo8492

OnePlus customer support has actually gotten a lot better.

    • mypu2k

it is…but you have to realize…they are trying to make a name…it’s a make it or break it deal for them…specially CES gave them an award…you know what i mean…

  • shamatuu

    will it get updates?. NO!

    • bob90210

If it’s rooted, you can update as often as you want.

      • derp hurr-durr

        using what?

(ROMs don’t magically appear out of nowhere, you know; and without current binary drivers, updates to new versions rarely function well.)

        • bob90210

Of course the roms don’t exist; the phone does not exist either. But once the phone ships, I would be very surprised if no one is working on a custom rom for it.

        • derp hurr-durr

I never said they should exist *now*. The OP wanted to know about updates, not current ROMs.

The point is that it is extremely hard to make a ROM for a version of Android the OEM does not support.

If the company behind this product does not provide their own build of, say, “Marshmallow” when it comes out, even CM is going to have a hard time building for it – no drivers.

It’s not impossible – it used to be the reason behind CM’s existence; but it isn’t easy and they usually never work completely without an OEM build to pull binaries from.

        • Chris Hilbert

I read somewhere they’re going to have CM support.

        • derp hurr-durr

Without drivers, even CM has a rough time with it. What we need to know is whether the company behind this product plans on making at least the binary drivers available to folks like CM when new versions of Android are released that require them.

Judging by the “rooted” and “multi-boot”, I would guess they at least plan on it, but…you know plans.

        • superg05

isn’t CM abandoning partner L&R oneplus

      • shamatuu

yea but not everyone wants to do that.

        • ChrisI

Then don’t waste your money on this phone.

    • Eric

It will get updates. Lollipop is coming soon.

  • HELLO BYCHEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just found my new phone! ,Move over NOTE4!

    • superg05

the only thing better than a note 4 is a note 5

      • mypu2k

        then note 6…right?

    • 9to5Slavery

      Lame

    • ChrisI

You should find your English book instead

  • loopyduck

I’m not sure it should be considered a “insanely specced hyperbeast” if it’s still using an 801.

  • guest

why are they doing the cheap phones band 12 are they stupid

  • Cole Walter Tague

If this had software buttons I’d appreciate it more. That’s a must have for my next phone.

    • Joe

      It does.

The coupon code for pre-registered orders is: v2preorder. We want to make sure everyone who pre-registered has the code. #V2

    • ChrisI

doesn’t matter. The code has to match up to a pre-registered email address

  • JBLmobileG1

Anyone know if they charge your credit card now when you preorder or once it ships? I am definitely interested but don’t have the funds currently but want to take advantage of the pre-order offer. Thanks in advance for any replies.

    • I would like to know this too. I’m also trying to see what everyone thinks of the legitimacy of them following through like they promised. Some are saying that they could take your money, and run. Some way, it’ll probably be delayed till April or May. So, now I’m skeptical. I also heard a great point that some of the features are reliant on software, so if they don’t have the software technology and just hardware of spec, it won’t make a different, like the camera. If they don’t have their own great software processing then it will just rely solely on Google Andoid’s, which sucks.

      • bob90210

It looks like many people have shorter memory than the internet. It seems that there was predecessor to the Saygus V2, the V1 or VPhone. It was supposed to be an off-contract phone for Verizon. It was on display at CES 2010 but never shipped.

The CEO of Saygus, Chad Sayers, seems to have a colorful history as CEO of Ostara and PSNet. I don’t think either companies exist anymore and I’m not sure what they did in the first place.

        • I don’t know if you were saying that in a rude way, or just stating it is something that happened. Not everyone knows everything that goes on with everybody and everything. Until they were at CES, I never heard of the V1. Heck, they don’t even have it on their website. I never went to research, but I heard of them having a phone before and something about it failing. But thanks for the info anyway.

        • bob90210

I didn’t mean to be rude. I was stating no comments or posts mention that Saygus has never delivered a product even though it has been around for more than 5 years.

I do hope that everyone who pre-orders the V2 receives the phone. Otherwise Cam and TmoNews bear some responsibility for essentially posting an ad for a scam.

        • Yeah, thanks. I’ve passed on it myself. So I’ll be waiting for the HTC Hima.

    • MadJoe

From what others are saying, the CEO has proven he isn’t trustworthy, but I admit I am still tempted to preorder this because it looks like a sweet deal. But only if I was able to use a credit card I know would protect me in the event that this is vaporware. Otherwise, I’d forgo the discount and wait until actual units are shipping, and still insist on using a card that protects my purchase.

  • V2 fan!

This is a fantastic phone! A game changer in my opinion! And equal to or less priced than anyother iphone or android for what you get, and fully unlocked, and available to root without any restrictions! I can’t wait to get mine! This is the future!

    • 9to5Slavery

      Enjoy permanent 4.5.5

      • ChrisI

People who want a rooted phone could care less about OTA updates, to be honest. They flash whatever whenever they want. That’s kind of the point.

  • Iphone killer

Just pre-ordered three of them for my family! It’s going to be a fantastic phone I can’t wait! I played with it at CES. ….. Amazing!

    • 9to5Slavery

      It’s just a phone

  • JBLmobileG1

I was really interested in possibly getting one of these BUT their support seems little to non existent. Not only have I sent them multiple tweets but I even tried calling them multiple times only to get a voice mail. Not a word to answer my simple questions on pre-ordering. I was actually going to sell some of my stock to pick this up, but if they can’t answer then oh well… they will lose my business.

    • 9to5Slavery

Agreed support seems non existence so does is upgrade

    • ChrisI

I’ve emailed them twice now over the past week, and just last night didi get the final response. What’s your question? You can search my Disqus history, might have your answer. I agree though, their customer service thus far sucks balls.

  • Jimmy James

Do these phones, not sold in T-Mobile stores, have Wi-Fi calling? I see no mention of this, but should be mentioned in every phone article on TMoNews.

    • Bryan Pizzuti

No WiFi calling until it gets built into Lollipop most likely.

      • 9to5Slavery

That sucks. They should do something about it.

        • yankeesusa

They are. Tmobile said that most of their phones on lollipop will get wifi calling. It’s just a little harder since wifi calling has been built into the kernel all this time.

  • Kevin

call me ignorant but i’ve never heard of this company Saygus…

Does it pronounce “sai-goos” or sei-gaas”?

    • 9to5Slavery

      Segas

    • ChrisI

      Say-giss.

  • 9to5Slavery

I want a phone to have 7500mAh, 6.9ghz octocore processor, water proof bullet proof dust proof baby proof apple nerdz proof, with plasma screen enhanced qhd retina, also with Amazon voice assistant, 50 megapixelz camera, gorilla glass 69.0 , two usb 3.0 ports and a display port, vga port, with Hdmi on the back, and band 41 support with band 12. Wifi calling and satellite calling and cellular calling. I want the qi charging built into the screens and the back and the sides so it has 360 charging on all sides super wirelessly, I want an antenna stick so I can pull it out and extend it for better reception, I want it to be hard plastic so it won’t bend and keep prices down because I am cheap, I want a on screen finger print scanner and eyeball scanner could be called s-eyeballz , I want bigass screen 5.5 like a freaking coolio note 7, and a super stylus from microsofts with vibrationz alerts, and make it flow in the dark.

    • ChrisI

You want cellular calling? Getting greedy.

    • vrm

you forgot phaser capability and a tricorder built in.

  • ryan

lol this company is like 1 mile from my house, im going to have to go check them out!

    • whosnext

Hi Ryan, do you have any update on the saygus company as they should have signs planted on their new office.

  • skywalkr2

Nothing about this to me is super spec’d.

    • mypu2k

      stick to your iPhone…

      • skywalkr2

Nexus 6, but thanks for proving yourself to be full of crap.

        • mypu2k

wow..you break from the crowd…you got lost at AT&T store or something?

        • skywalkr2

Keep showing your ignorance to the world… it’s breathtaking.

        • mypu2k

i guess you need to use eyeglasses to read the specs again….then tell me who’s ignorant…but then again…you will say something sazzy to make yourself sound tech smart….

        • skywalkr2

          Three strikes and he’s out.

        • mypu2k

          wow…that was a good comeback…it’s not even fun…
