Will The High Price Of The Galaxy S III Stop You From Buying?

Now that the Galaxy S III is officially for sale on T-Mobile, I thought it worth wondering just how much the price is affecting your buying decision, thanks in no small part to your incredible amount of feedback about T-Mobile’s price. T-Mobile is clearly not concerned about the “standard” industry price of $199.99/$249.99 for the 16GB and 32GB varieties. So I have one small question in three parts, will the high price stop you from buying the Galaxy S III or will you buy it at any price OR will you wait till the price drops? How badly do you want it?

I heard about the pricing on Saturday, and while I’ve been waiting for this phone, I immediately purchased the HTC One S during the fathers day sale instead.  It’s just not worth $250 – $300 more than the One S.

  • Jared

Went to costco and got their first one. 280 out the door. 50gb of dropbox for two years! plan is still unlimited data 500 min talk and it is 75$ a month. I’m pretty sure i’m going to pay less than most att and verizon customers.

  • Ikhtiaralam

Do you know what’s funny? The BlackBerry 9900 is 350 and 300, with $50 rebate. It’s even more expensive than the Galaxy S3.

    • http://twitter.com/RyanSmith2688 Ryan Smith

yeah because who buys those, stupid people…

  • LookingElsewhere

Some of you are saying wa wa is 80$ (or 130) so much for you?  wa wa you can’t afford it get a job wa wa…well if its not that much money, then why is tmobile charging it – then be competitive with your competitors…and lets remember , tmobiles brand reputation is supposed to be the value brand…so when customers are starting to look for a new phone and see 199 on every carrier and 329 -50 on Tmobile…what do you think they’re gonna check first..

    • Dumbazz

Those who aren’t complete RETARDS will look at monthly costs.

  • Maryanne

T-Mobile always finds ways to make up for their smaller monthly revenues by adding higher priced phones and extra fees wherever they can.

See US customers answer with their wallets. US customers are okay with paying more per month and the Verizon’s and AT&Ts’ prosper despite the high monthly fees.

T-Mobile, if she was smart, shouldn’t try to charge more for a phone with slightly less impressive specs.  In our industry the upfront costs are the biggest barrier to a new customer getting new service.  It doesn’t matter if a customer will save money in the long run with T-Mobile.  If they charge almost $400 after taxes (especially in places like CA. and NY) for a phone that costs $199.99 plus tax elsewhere then T-Mobile will lose.

What’s new though?  It’s not like millions and millions are flocking to their Value Plans as it is.

    • Danny

Yep you’ll pay about $380 for new service on a Classic Plan for this phone in California.  Rip off.

      • tmo_rocks!

If someone was getting new service with Tmo, why wouldn’t they do a value plan?  It’s only $230 down payment, and $20 a month for the phone.  Add that to a $60 2GB unlimited plan and that’s only $80 a month.

Go to any other carrier for the same plan, you could get the same phone for $200 bucks, but you’d pay at least $100 for the same voice and data plan.

      • Dumbazz

        Sorry you can’t afford it.

    • philly8

So when the downpayment is $230 on value…..how is that going to hurt the us customers wallets upfront? And if their bill is cheaper every month….How is that not a win for the customer? Maryanne go to Verizon……They will give u a 20% discount on your bill and im sure you could prob get a free GS3 because they know they are making that money back when your bill is still higher than T-Mobile bills……T-Mobile is more than 20% less than verizon  so your discount on your bill isnt even enouugh,,,,,

  • Guest

I hope the people who comment on here and say they’re Tmo employees really don’t work for the company.  If they do, I understand why customer service has deteriorated so much and why the company keeps going downhill.  They seem to hate their customers and not care about the long term health of Tmobile

    • guest

I love my customers  the one’s that understand exactly what I do and appreciate our positions

  • Dumbazz

Those of you complaining about pricing I hope your tears are soothed by clutching your teddy bear and blanket as you fall asleep in your parents basement..

how much is the 32gb in Walmart or bestbuy for tmobile

    • Ikhtiaralam

At Wal-Mart it’s $248.00 plus tax with new line or upgrade.

      • Guest

nice thanks getting the 32gb them

      • Ikhtiaralam

But I recommend you you to just get the 16 gig and add a sd card to it. You’ll get more pure memory.

        • king

what you mean more pure memory

    • nitefallz

My walmart doesn’t even carry anything for t-Mobile

  • Durandal_1707

If you guys go for the Value plan instead of the Classic plan, you’ll only pay $230 per month instead of $280. Plus, your monthly plan goes down by $20 after 20 months, so you save another 4 * 20 == $80 compared to the Classic plan. So it’s equivalent to paying $150 for the phone on the Classic plan.

Why the Classic plan continues to even be offered is confusing to me. It’s nothing but a rip-off.

    • Durandal_1707

ARGH! I can’t seem to make a post here without having a typo in it! First sentence obviously meant to say $230 up front, not $230 per month.

      • Guest

just go to bestbuy or walmart and get it

        • http://twitter.com/RyanSmith2688 Ryan Smith

my walmart still has 2 left if i had 200 bucks id have bought one already, but literally no one has called or asked if we have them, we sold 2 to employees

        • Taron19119

          where is your walmart at

      • JB

I was getting ready to say the same thing! To add: What they are doing is setting the Classic subsidy so high, that it almost forces people to to look at the value plans.

Any new customers that come in will say “holy hell 280 is high” and that’s when sales associates will tell them the benefits of going value.. saw it with my own eyes yesterday. But all in all, 30 bucks more on value is not a bad deal at all!

Just got my G3 today in Houston. Paid list price. This is one of the best smartphones to be offered. Look forward to getting the Note next month. The only draw back is it uses a micro sim card, to switch between older devices you will need to buy a $10 adapter tray for the micro sim to fit in to use other phones like the g2 or Sensation.

    • Sun

I’m looking forward on the note too. Wonder how much it would be?

      • exeot

Lower if anything given how old it is. $250 is my bet. Oversized imo, so not for me.

    • 21stNow

Adapters are only $1 on Amazon.  Please don’t pay a 1000% markup on an adapter.

    • Cyclone

I use micro sim in my Vibrant without any adapter. miro sim is slightly thicker than regular one and it sits tight in the center of the sim card slot without any support around it.

  • souggie

its so sad how this forum has turned into all these internet thugs and gangsters over who can afford the phone or not….if you wanna pay the price …GREAT, if not, and you find it cheaper, GREAT, and if you dont want to buy it at all…GREAT….the point is to do you….folks complaining about the price, listen the reality of it is is that TMO has to make bread….to make up for these cheap as sh@t plans we got, folks who can afford the price of the phone…GREAT, that means you’ve either been saving well, or simply balling like i am….but it still doesnt give you the right to try to chump someone who is salty about the price. Hell, I AM salty about the price, but im getting it regardless (albeit at a very nice discount)…and folks if the price bothers you wait a bit till it goes down, or find somewhere else that can get it for you cheaper.  As for the TMO employees on here, we appreciate all that you guys do, but please dont come on here and chump folks out….not a good look, you guys are better than that…
@468cda81a7062fb283508282a92fc9c9:disqus , chill, everyone isnt poor, lol, the GS3 just may not be everyone’s priority…and you’re instigating like you from the courts in east new york….lol chill…
Everyone relax, the price will go down at some point and just keep searching for the price that suits you, we can all get along

90s ebonics slang is out. Maybe you didn’t get the memo. Welcome to the new millennium. Learn to speak like a human.

      • souggie

relax internet gangster, my point is that all you clowns acting like kids over this phone is ridiculous.  If you’d spend less time worrying about my “ebonics”, and actually trying to get the point you’d probably see that. But clearly you’re looking for confrontation, which ballers like me choose to avoid, because only idiots and jackasses would choose to look through a positive message and attempt to mess it all up with some half witted comment about ebonics and slang…you should visit east new york sometime….get some “education” in your life.

        • Deaconclgi

+1 for saying internet gangster! I laughed out loud literally. It doesn’t help that I just finished playing Max Payne on my One S.

I pictured the conversation going on behind the closed doors that hides a room full of internet gangsters!

Seriously though, I understood what you were saying and it was a positive message.

I don’t hold anything against anyone based on their dialect. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

BTW, I was born in Chicago, spent my youth in Sacramento, my teens in Mississippi, most of my early adulthood in Atlanta and now I and back to Illinois, 110 miles south of where I started from.

I have learned that just because a person speaks differently doesn’t lessen the importance of the content of what that person is saying.

        • souggie

thanks, im glad we still have sensible grown ups like your self on this post!

You mad bro? You need a hug? Man i already made my point…now im urban trash….? because i use a certain dialect? and i tell you to visit where im from? You sound like an idiot right now, we’re talking about phones and the like, and here you go talking about urban trash and calling me names…I see why @468cda81a7062fb283508282a92fc9c9:disqus picks on you frequently, you make yourself a target. However, if being a Doctorate level physical therapist with an interest in phones makes me urban trash, then i’ll be urban trash. You have no idea why i even called out East NY, idiot, You made an assumption…were you feeling threatened? is this why you lashed out like this? who threatened you? you’re an internet gangster, plain and simple.  TRY to have a mature conversation and learn something practical instead of calling people trash and making fun of people you dope. Thats what kids do…you’re a grown ass man…ACT like one in all phases of life….or are you?

So I’m getting my GS3 on Monday. I was hoping id get it today but my Tmobile store didn’t get their shipment so I hav to wait til Monday. Blah

  • philly8

This is a bad article…..You can’t just state price and not mention value plans…….David….run over to ATT with your Iphone so you can get phones cheaper upfront…..

    • Ikhtiaralam

Oh my god ignorant people. Wal-Mart has it for $198. And Costco has it for $249 with case, screen protector, and car charger.

      • n1oty

Yup, hit my Costco today for $249. Got some extra accessories and don’t have to hassle with rebates.

      • Dameerak

What walmart? brick-and-mortar or online? Because online, the only thing they have is an unlocked version for 800 dollars. I would appreciate a link of the walmart listing.

        • Tim

Brick and mortar. I git mine for 200 at Wal-Mart today

        • Pnina_evans

My walmart only had three of the 16 gig pebble blue ones….

  • Dameerak

IF you add the people who wont buy, and the people who will only buy if the price goes down, thats 2164 (so far). Now, assuming T-mobile lowers the price to 199.99, the total that T-mobile will get out of these folks is about 432,000. That’s a half a million dollars. However, as it seems, these folks will not buy with the higher price tag. So T-mobiles thinking is we can make more money -in theory- if these folks buy at 279.99. Well I agree-in theory. But as these folks specifically mentioned in this poll, they will not, at that price. So T-Mobile would rather have a theoretical 2164×279.99 rather a realistic 2164×199.99 which comes down to the aforementioned 432,000. I did not know T-mobile could easily overlook, and disregard a half a million dollars just like that!

  • souggie

folks the reality of the situation is that tmobile is actually willing to work with you guys on the price, you just have to know how to treat your CSRs and know how to talk to people….most of the CSRs i’ve talked to agree that it is steep despite the low cost plans(even though this isnt gonna deter me), i got a sweet discount, i’m gettin the 32GB on the 27th through customer care for 279.99 with a credit of $150.00 on my bill, plus the rebate is instant, additionally free express shipping, and a waived upgrade fee, so with tax, everything comes to 299.54minus that 150 dollar credit…right at 150!! so at the end of the day, im getting the 32GB for $150.00. just for inquiring about any deals or promos that could help me out. Hoever i was still prepared to pay the price if i couldn’t.  doesnt hurt to try with the CSRs, i usually get really nice people

    • edub1906

I assume you were out of contract.  I know a friend who was out of contract and he got a FREE HTC One S in early May.  I’m eligible for the full upgrade discount, but I won’t be out of contract until next year thanks to adding my wife and getting a family plan. Oh well, I’ll still be able to get it from Costco for $249.00 which still beats T-Mobile’s $279.99 website price.

      • souggie

actually no, i wasn’t out of contract due to a previous plan change, i was just eligible for upgrade, and i’ve had a 9 year tenure with tmobile with good habits and no serious issues, honestly.

        • edub1906

WOW.  Then you got a heck of a deal.  I have been with T-Mobile for 6 years and now have a family plan with my wife.  I am eligible for the full discounted upgrade on Sunday (6/24/12).  Maybe I should give them a call to see what they could do.  Not sure what to say other than “it’s a great phone but the $279.00 price is too high for me”.  Did you call customer retention or just the normal phone upgrade extension?

        • souggie

I called customer loyalty, and asked what could i do to get this a bit lower, is there any way to lower this? cuz id gladly extend and do another two years, but its a bit much…then the dude just put me on hold for like five seconds, and came back with this offer, but the only catch is that i have to do it through customer care, because the store wont do it, so i bit the bullet…

        • Edwardsuero7

Do you have to call back on the 27th or is it all set?

        • souggie

its notated on my account, and i have to call in on the 27th, plus the dude set a call back for on that day also

        • souggie

just in case, i meant, not “also”

        • edub1906

Well it looks like I’ll give T-Mobile a call on Sunday and say the exact same thing that you said souggie.  All they can tell me is no.  Did you just dial 611 from your phone to get to Customer Care?

        • souggie

          Sure did !

        • Y314K

Does it mean that line’s contract is being extended 2 years out..  aka New 2 Year contract or dose it still expire on the old contract date ???

  • Tmo_Fan

def buying when price drops I cnt believe on this prices but they are fair to certain people so I cant complain..

  • John

I just picked my S3 up at Costco today for 249. I think it was a great deal considering I would pay so much more on any other carrier for the same plan I have with T-mobile. I love this phone!

  • Caseybea

Still loving my pure Galaxy Nexus.    With the exception of the better camera, I’m really not missing anything.  I will probably upgrade to an S III …   but in a year when the market is flooded and I can buy a used one for a decent price.      Until then…    I’ll have to pass.    But definitely  keeping my eye on one.   Someday.

  • http://twitter.com/TKfromCLE Terry Kessler

I was all lined up to pick one up on release day, but I can’t see paying nearly $400 once you figure in the tax and upgrade fee. All that PLUS a 2-year contract extension! Noooooo thank you.

    • phills

Same Situation.  Luckily it looks like it will be easy to find at Walmart within a week or so.  Knowing that some Walmarts already have and are selling it for $199 makes it totally worth waiting in my opinion.  HOWEVER…I’m trying not to wait too long because that stupid Apple lawsuit could mess things up again if anything comes of it.

  • Omar

Just picked mine up at Walmart for 199. I’m a happy camper

    • Omar

      Chicagoland area btw

  • Dumbazz

This may seem shocking to some of you geniuses but eventually stores will have stock in. It will be great to not have to see all the “at what location” posts.

  • BrothaDave

I ordered mine online and after everything I will wind up paying $350 counting taxes and fees. Remember (or at least for me) there is no upgrade fee to get a new phone on Tmo like other carriers. I would be willing to bet Verizon and Sprint will charge more than $200 but either way the phone is worth it to me. I’ve kept the MyTouch 4G for almost 2 years just because Tmo never gets flagship phones. Finally this is it so even if I have to pay a little more it’s worth it. Money doesn’t mean anything if what you spend it on doesn’t make you happy

  • Taron19119

I cant wat tell customer service get the phone so I can get mines

  • Traviedwards

All you babies out there need to chill with the price complaints. I consider the extra 50 i paid at costco a early purchase buy. Tmo is the only carrier i see who actually let customers get the phone ahead of time. I dont see anyone from att, sprint, verizon with their phones… do you? Hats off for tmo making it available already.. 270 with tax out the door and some free goodies…

If you really want go find it, if not stop complaining

FYI: I TYPED THIS USING MY S3.. DEUCES??? A SATISFIED TMO CUSTOMER!!!!

    • souggie

i see you….but since you on here flexin….does the s3 have a dedicated built in FM radio? i would like to hear from someone who actually has the phone because tmobile makes no mention of it, i know the international version does, but does tmobile’s have one?

      • Traviedwards

Not sure, ill have to find out

        • souggie

let us know when you do, thanks..

      • Dontwiggs1

No fm radio on the t-mobile version. Picked mine up yesterday.

        • souggie

Crap, knew it, might be a deal breaker

        • souggie

          SIKE!

      • 21stNow

AFAIK, none of the US versions have the FM radio.

    • Mmcca189

      What Costco already has it?

      • Traviedwards

One in chicago on clybourn ave…

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/GNEZGHWNE4EMGIBST7WYQ3P2RA Bob J

Hahaha getting it on the scheduled release day is not what I would call early.

      • Georgie1234

Technically it was a scheduled release date for (TMobile, sprint and AT&T) . Did you get your Sprint or AT&T S3 yet?

        • 21stNow

Some AT&T pre-order customers have theirs already.

  • jerry

Waited in line in the morning yesterday and paid the retail price for it.

  • Bkidko

If you pay 49.99$ for 500 mins and unlimited text and web, you payy $229 down and $20/mo for 20 mos. This means you pay $629 for the phone, which is the full price. If you get the same classic plan, you pay $69.99 per month for 24 mos and $279.99 for the phone. So if you subsidize the phone, you pay $760 for the phone!!!!

My question is…are you effing crazy?! Why would anyone pay $280 and get classic plan? This is also assuming that you get a $50 rebate

  • JB

I’m reading these comment about the good number of folks on here that called retention, customer care, ect and they are getting pretty solid deals on this phone… I know why they priced it the way they did, so this is not a complaint, but it does get me to wondering if they are adjusting a price to appease the few, why didn’t they just go ahead and  priced it a little lower in the first place? It definitely would’ve helped resolve this perceived mass exodus…

    • Dumbazz

Because people will still call up and want it at a lower price.

      • Taron19119

well im geting one on the 27th and im geting 118 off the price

    • Taron19119

well tell me y they priceed this way

  • GregZ

    Hello!
I always see comments of ” Bought it at Best Buy….picked one up at Walmart…” – Am I missing something here?  What is the advantage of going there instead of walking into a TMO store?
Are you still extending your contract out by 2 years?  Is there some trick to this?  Are you saving that much more by going there instead?  Is everyone who is doing that…not on the old Even More Plus plans?  I for one am on that plan…I am trying to figure out what to do next…not on contract – paid almost full price for GS1 when it first came out.  I called TMO and they said I cannot convert over to a subsidized plan?
For all the EMP people out there…what are you doing?

    • Suckmy4G

It’s pretty cool because you get the phone at $199 with NO CONTRACT!

      • Abcdes

        $199 with NO CONTRACT!<——what a joke!

    • Abcdes

yep they def are not on even more plus plan. My best suggestion open new acct with classic plan and complete request old number back process to have your old number after 60 days or migrate to value plan (even though you will be paying installments your still saving money) Good Luck!!!

    • 21stNow

I’m EMP and I’m avoiding this phone at that price!  I’m not converting to Value, so the options are limited.

    • FatFredJones

What are your reasons for wanting to the move away from the the Even More Plus plan? Im on it and cant see any other plan I’d rather have considering I’m only paying $139+ for Unlimited Everything (5 GB 4G data per line) on 2 lines

      • GregZ

I don’t want to change out of EMP – the price is perfect.  I just see all of these posts in which people are picking up new phones and I am thinking..OK, you must not be on EMP….and you are continually upping your contract by 2 years…or you are setting up new plans…to later do a phone number change?  What happened to all the EMP people?  Are we all spending $600 to buy new phones?

  • Mstina24

I think the price is pretty high i been with tmobile for a long time and im thinking about going to sprint cause they offer buyback and i can pay for my phone using my galaxy s2. 199.99 wouldve been a good price for tmobile cause sprint is offering it for that amount

    • Digler

      By princess

    • (Tmo)InItForTheWin

       Sprint sucks overall. So, Adios!

    • Grammatica di Polizia

Carrier buy back programs are a rip-off.

The best route to go is to sell your handset on eBay. I have been doing that for years, actually I know exactly when I started doing that, with the BlackBerry Pearl in 2007. (Sold the Pearl to get the Curve).

If you take care of your phone (use a hard plastic case, don’t scratch the display) and save all original packaging, it can work out to where you are “renting” the hottest cell phones for about $10 to $30 monthly.

I know that selling on eBay is not everyone’s cup of tea, but something to think about.

  • Trey

Strange stuff going on here…I live in Fort Worth, TX and called a few t-mob and wal-mart locations…all of which told me they either had none in stock or weren’t selling the phones until next week…That being said, I decided to stroll into a nearby Wal-mart and check things out…Glad I did, they had two in stock (blue, 16gb) and were selling them for $198 w/ new contract…I was out of the door within 15 min having paid a total of $214.34…From there, I went directly to the nearest t-mob retail location and had them check and make sure the wal-mart rep set everything up correctly…Haha…So, for anyone who is curious…Yes, wal-mart is selling them for $198…but will most likely only have the “pebble blue / 16gb” models in stock…Check it out!

  • Orgbatak

Geez people. If u got money pick up from walmart 198 +tax on 198… At costco 249 +tax on 399 ( free accessories)..both with 2 yrs contract …….if want to pay retail.. Go to Costco at 399 + tax and get the minimum prepaid plan….

    • Lani

Did you leave something out of your post?  Are you sure about the Costco $249(plus tax) with prepaid plan?  Prepaid means non-contract, correct?
I did not know you could buy a non-contract mobile from Costco.  Where did you get this info?  What exact Costco location is offering it and which sales rep?

      • Grammatica di Polizia

He did not say that. He said it is $250 on a 24 month contract, $400 on prepaid.

  • bruce_leer0y

    GS Note!

    • Tmo_Fan

I wonder how mch this will be

    • tomnewtn

WIll it be worth it with the Note2 coming later? We’ll have to see how it specs out.

    • tommy

GS Note runs down the battery fast. New phones (the Note-2) have much better work on their battery, the companies (HTC and Sam) are working hard to optimize their batteries, so I’d wait for new models.

  • Tmo_Fan

this phone is too expensive so far I cant wait for an iphn 5 or GS note probably $899 but I mean what can we do… T-mo is doing what they think is best for the company not competing

    • Dumbazz

I know CRAAAAAZY to do what’s best for the company!!!
They should just give the phone for free and layoff employees,!

      • Magenta Man

Good call Dumbazz, T-Mobile is only in the state they are in due to their insanely entitled customer base. Their customer base is largely out of touch with reality. I work in a store, so there is no need to argue this point. Most of them are crazy. Wish I could roll back the clocks to the days when T-Mobile saw budget conscience prime consumers. After they designated half the parking lot to FLEXPAY parking, its never been the same. Who ever would have thought that in an economy like this that the “Value” provider would be suffering so greatly. There is an issue in America with entitlement not just at the carriers. That attitude shift has put T-Mobile is an awkward position. Kind of sad, but so are what some Americans have become.

      • Tmo_Fan

lol thats crazy lol and funny lolz

  • TMo is better than the rest..

I’m a realist.. phones are just going to get more and more expensive. It’s just a given. Yes.. T-Mobile charges more for the phone. But.. their plans are way less expensive (If you aren’t an idiot and pay $9.99 for Jamster or other things like that. Or subscribe to T-Mobile TV.). I would rather pay more upfront and less per month. But.. I have a brain.

    • Grammatica di Polizia

No, if you had a brain you would go with Straight Talk prepaid. It uses the exact service T-Mobile gives you. And it charges $41 monthly, without a contract, for unlimited talk, text and 2.5GB 4G data. No ETF fees, no 24 month contract, no additional fees and taxes each month (about $8), the same exact service and arguably similar or better customer service (I don’t care any more about custo service, it is not like I am calling them more than once a year.)

The only difference is buying an SGS 2 on eBay, for $350 nowadays. But if one buys it new on eBay, you can get a warranty from Square Trade. And if I want an SGS III I am looking to pay $450 for it in a month, after the frenzy dies down.

$41 monthly versus about $90 at T-Mobile, for the exact same service from T-Mobile, because… I have a brain.

Assume we are sitting at a restaurant table. They bring out the exact same meal. Except I am paying $41 for it, you are paying $90. If you have  brainy argument on why your meal is worth more than double, please do tell.

Oh, and if I don’t like it I can get up and walk away. You? You have to sit there for 24 months.

Another analogy, there’s some flying coach paying $500 for a ticket, there’s others paying $100.

      • XMAGUSX

Unless they changed it recently, Straight Talk is AT&T 3G, and the GS2 is one of the few T-Mobile phones AFAIK directly compatile with AT&T 3G. Plus, coverage is worse since unlike T-Mobile prepaid, you don’t get free roaming in the US (correct me if I’m wrong).

      • Magenta Man

XMAGUSX you are exactly right. This idiot Grammatica di Polizia is the exact reason why the industry is upside down. Keep feeding Walmart after midnight and see what it morphs into. With T-Mobile gone, once Verizon and AT&T have complete market dominance they will control the price we pay. At that point the sky will be the limit on how much they can get away with and charge. I Know a lot of people that have gotten Straight Talk and cant stand the internet service. I also know of others that love their Straight Talk because it works at their soup kitchen or the unemployment line…..

  • Klai99

got 2 sIII at costco and they had 65 for sale!

  • John

Not sure how some of you are picking these up at Walmart. I just called my local one and she went to check and nothing, just the S2. She did ask if I checked the webiste and I told her there was nothing listed. Now, will this very from Walmart to Walmart?

    • http://www.facebook.com/jodysbeard Jody Beard

Yes, it will VARY with Wal-Mart, I called a couple stores and some had them and some did not.

  • Dave Mallari

hey to anyone who got they s3 at costco,
what accessories did you guys get? I’m deciding getting there or at walmart

    • Traviedwards

2 leather phone casex, screen protector and car charger

      • jhoff909

cases are marginal, screen protectors don’t really fit (cut to fit) and car charger is OK but I already have several of them…  I did buy one at Costco tho – $250 + tax.

I have 14 days to return it so if Walmart offers them for $200 I will negotiate with them to either return or refund…  they don’t price match but if they (costco) offer it for less within 14 days, they will refund the difference.  And there’s the possibility of a 4th of July sale…

        • jhoff909

Oh and local Costco here in Seattle was only supposed to get 3 but they got 15 and only sold 7 (including mine) yesterday…

  • StonersLane

Yes even I think paying $400 is a lot. $300 is do-able but I can only dream.

  • tomnewtn

Not at all. I will never buy a Samsung toy.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/GNEZGHWNE4EMGIBST7WYQ3P2RA Bob J

I will see what Costco and Walmart have to offer if they ever get stock in. This whole release has been a huge fiasco. Why can’t they stick to a wide release date and decent price point.

The price is too high plain and simple. I doesn’t matter that the plans are cheaper, this is about the device not the plans. Even if some people justify the price with lower plans, that argument doesn’t make sense. The plan has to be lower because of the inferior product being offered by Tmo. Lets be honest here, if VZW or ATT was offering plans as low as Tmo everyone would jump ship because they have much better service. Tmo service is not as great or as strong as the other carriers which means the plans NEED to be cheaper. So stop with that BS argument please. The phones are priced to high.

    • Dumbazz

Has it occurred to you that in a vast majority of areas t mobile service is just as good? Just because it may not be good for you does not mean that applies to all humanity.
      Did Tmobile hurt you?

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/GNEZGHWNE4EMGIBST7WYQ3P2RA Bob J

The fact of the matter is Tmo does not cover as large a area as the bigger carriers. Yes Tmo is excellent at my house, but when I leave my signal constantly drops to 2g and back to 4g and there are dead spots. I have only 2G where I work on the Las Vegas Strip. It was same story Orange County/LA County area when I was living in So. Cal. I deal with it because I only pay $69.99 for unlimited everything. If the price wasn’t that low I would be gone in a heartbeat.

Dumbazz, corporations LOOOOOVE customers like you. You keep the
executive bonus checks very lucrative. This country needs less people
like you and more people that question high prices to protect the
consumer. Have fun on your crusade to justify Tmo’s pricing. What are you getting out of it? Go ahead and pay your $350-$400 upfront and be happy about it.

        • Anthony_r

          You are a complete idiot.

Herrrrb, I got a question here about a toothbrush!

    • no2apple

Looks like you just had a panic attack… Your life is way precious than the phone. Go see a doctor soon please

  • Observer

It’s 179.99 at Sprint thru Wirefly. It will probably be cheaper in a week through Walmart or Wirefly or Amazon. T-Mobile really screwed up a great chance here. Spare me the low monthly payments comments.

  • phills

So I know this may have been somewhat answered…but it’s hard to sift through 500+ posts.  If I have a classic family plan (500 mins, unlimited txt, 2g data for $20) can I walk into walmart and get this phone for $199 without changing my plan (I’m due for a full upgrade with t-mobile).

    • Gotta Be

      yes

    • TheReder

I have an even older family plan (still with real unlimited data), and I was able to upgrade both lines on my plan at Walmart to GS3 without changing a thing. Go save those dollars!

    • phills

Thanks guys…now I just have to find a Walmart that has it ha

  • Taron19119

Who.from philly has the phone and if so where did u get it from

  • smiley47

Has anyone seen pricing info from Target? I’m looking for a no contract, full retail, S3 and I’ll use the Target Redcard to ease the pain by 5%.

    • ME

No contract full price is always higher than the T-Mobile retail stores, even with your 5% off its still better to get it from T-Mobile.

  • smiley47

So far T-Mobile stores are the lowest at $629. Walmart is $650. Costco won’t sell no-contract phones. We’ll see what Amazon offers in a few days.

    • Dumbazz

That would be killer if google sold in the play store in a few months.
