Walmart Selling The HTC Sensation 4G Early?

Attention Walmart shoppers the Sensation 4G has landed for a lucky few. We’re receiving word and we’ve got some pics to prove it that at least a few lucky Walmart shoppers have been able to pick up the Sensation 4G from their local store today. The lucky sender of these pics definitely isn’t alone as this XDA forum thread shows at least another dozen individuals scoring the Sensation 4G at Walmart with everyone receiving the same $148.88 price plus tax. Better start calling your local Walmart and see if they won’t part with their inventory!

For those asking the Sensation 4G is coming with an 8GB microSD card in the box.

Thanks Birdsfan!

No luck here in South Florida (Fort Lauderdale) – NO Walmarts sell them here and also my T-Mo store won’t have it firmly until the 15th. I played with a rep’s own personal unit and Man! I held it in my hand and it just felt right!!!!!

How is everyone’s 4g speed on the sensation? I bought it a couple of days ago along with a friend of mine, and the “4g” speed has been sad. We are only get about 300-400k? Anyone else having this issue?

    • Snsngh10

My internet speeds have been slow too

      • http://www.brettschulte.com/ Brett Schulte

It’s the network, not the phone. Right?

        • Snsngh10

The phone is super fast it’s just the network speeds are slow, it’s kinda frustrating

  • Souggie

As far as this phone goes, the only true difference is cosmetics. my tmobile store here in douglasville, ga had the live demo, and there was a lot of lag, which was kinda disappointing, as well as some choppiness in the ui. Htc should have put more effort into the performance of the phone. Its not a bad phone by any means, but the only reason id chose this over a g2x is because of the g2x’s current issues

      Uh huh

any Seattle, WA readers. There’s a Wal-Mart down in Bonney Lake (167 way past kent) that as of when I left the store had ONE left in stock. The guy on staff there in the morning was more than happy to hold it for me while I made the long trek down from Seattle (took 45 mins from downtown).

    • Mrharris8

      That trip worth it?

      • Anonymous

I drove an hour from Portland to Longview WA and it was totally worth it. Stopped in my local tmobile store to get a new sim and the store reps were all over it. :)

Got my sensation yesterday …  but while it was connected to my PC in charge mode it restarted itself about 4 times in 6 hours. Has anyone experienced   this issue with their sensation. I am planning to return to Walmart and get a replacement

  • Flamitaz1

I bought two yesterday at retail, one as a gift and the other for myself, but there is a huge difference between needing and wanting. I don’t need it. I have a wonderful Nexus one (one of the best phones, if not the best phone made ever) that is going strong, only had for about a year, and I have a brand new Nexus one in the box, in case and for when my current one kicks the bucket. So I am planning on returning one of the HTC sensations I purchased back at the wal mart I bought it from. The one on Houston at Wallisville and East Sam Houston freeway. If anyone is interested. The only thing is, yesterday the salesperson did not know that this phone was not be out yet, and another customer was there for the same thing, and wanted the upgrade but had a problem with adding the data plan features, so one of the employees called Tmobile, and they were told that it was not to be on sale yet. So no upgrade price, and no sale. But the employee that was attending me did not know that, until I told her, after I purchased them both. So there will be one in stock as of tonight, the only thing is I don’t know if they will give someone a hard time purchasing it. Anyone interested?

  • Kickdrum74

Yeah I tried to get one at my local Walmart and they was gonna sell it to me but t-mobile wouldn’t allow me to upgrade. Sucks

  • Djgabriel

I was able to get the Sensation 4G, then the salesperson @ Walmart was told that the phone is not officially for sale. He had to check with the manager and since the transaction was already completed, I still was able to get it.

  • Meg

Has anyone who has been lucky enough to get the phone tried a screen capture app (without rooting) and had success? I know it’s still early and everyone is still trying things out but I am very curious.

  • jes

I got one yesterday. I had the mytouch 4g before which was nice and I never really had any lag with it, but I must say this thing is as smooth as butter. I just can’t even imagine what these people are talking about saying the demo’s they played with really lagged. I have all my stuff on it already too. And yes I’ve played with the g2x, and I must say I’m really glad I waited for this instead. Only complaint is I like swype a little better than HTC’s version of swype on this phone

    • Anonymous

I actually prefer HTC’s version better. To his his own.

    • http://profiles.google.com/marzucobbt Rob Zuco

You have to figure, people are always playing with the demo phones and either don’t close or restarts apps when done playing with it. Having 20 apps open will of course create lag. Processing and memory law 101. lol

  • jubby jones

I was a sucker that bought two. Fortunately we only opened one. Returning the other. Bloatware and a washed out screen killed this phone. Sad, as it’s so slick!
G2X rooted with CM7 is my phone of choice.

  • Jess

Tried it on mine just like the video I saw and nothing happened to mine. I’ve never held a phone like that anyway. For those that do, would it be that inconvenient to hold it a slightly different way?

  • Mrharris8

    Any luck near Seattle anyone?

bought mine today in Warner robins GA watson store. been playing around with it for a few hours. so far so good. screen looks really good compared to my rooted g2x. sense takes some getting use to as i’ve always had stock android but i like it. doesn’t seem laggy at all and if there is its barley noticeable.  i tried out the “death grip” a few times while connected to WiFi and playing slacker radio. i went from full WiFi connection(3 bars) to 2 bars on the WiFi symbol but IT DID NOT disrupt the song. if your interested in getting this phone get it. dont let a little thing like a so called “death grip” keep you from it. all phones when held a certain way will lose some kind of signal strength

  • Herb

Anyone buy one from Northern Ohiol Walmart? Thanks.

  • Mrharris8

Didn’t the Sense 3.0 suppose to come with built in Skype video support?? anyone know if it has it?

  • musiccity

I think its pretty sweet.  I bought mine in Nashville and honestly didn’t think I would get much 4g here at all.  My 3g phone was on edge half the time around here.  The 4g speed here has been great.  At home i can barely tell if its any slower than my wifi.  The full page calendar, email, messages widgets are great!  I haven’t had any problems at all.

On the down side, I don’t like the power button on top and that it is the only way to activate the screen.

  • Screwymatt

Anyone else have their Walmarts tell them that they have no idea what phones they will have till they get there? Every Wal-mart I’ve called have said they won’t know till they get them. I don’t want to wait 3 days but I also don’t want to deal with these people.

    • Jcstugotts

Ok Guys I am gonna try to post this comment again, I think my computer was acting up and it wouldnt post earlier. I was a little ticked earlier when I finally found the phone at the walmart just south of philly in eddystone. I called and the young lady said sure we got them and to come in. when I got there the man behind the counter was extra nice and had to call his distric manager to see if he could sel it. the district managers exact words were “sell, sell sell” we got 3/4 of the way done when the computer said i wasnt elegable for the upgrade. we called cust loyalty and they said to me yes you are elegible because its notated because of problems with your account but unfourtanatly you cant buy it there cause they are a 3rd party dealer. you can buy it from us or a tmobile corp store at full discount pricing on wednesday. so not only do I have to wait, which is ok but I have to pay 100 dollars more then i would have paid today. I know there are a lot of clever people on this stie, has anyone encounterd this issue, and if so have you been able to fix the issue so that you can infact purchase it from wal mart. any feed back would be awesome. thanks.

I had the same type of situation on Friday around noon when I bought mine.  I just threatened to cancel, and instead of that happening the Customer Loyalty department swapped me over to a qualifying plan, credited my account with an available upgrade, and even put $40.00 on my account because of all the trouble.  Essentially, I walked out of the store with the HTC Sensation @ 120 dollars (160ish with tax minus 40 dollar credit on my next bill).  The toughest thing about owning this phone early is that I cannot find a single store that can sell me a case.  The Walmart I purchased my phone at didn’t carry them, and T-Mobile stores aren’t selling them until the official launch of June 15th.  My temporary fix has been to use the gel case from a Samsung Vibrant.  No, the holes don’t line up, but it fits around the case pretty well if I’m not charging or taking pictures.  BUT, If you buy the Vibrant case from a T-Mobile store, you can return it within 30 days for the one that fits the Sensation (both list @ 16.99 in the Philadelphia area).

        • Melissa

I ordered one on Amazon a few days ago and it arrived today. It isn’t the case I’d like to use for the long run but it will keep it safe until Wednesday.

        • Elmano68

Got a nice snap on black hard rubber case from eBay. It was only 5 bucks, it fits perfect and it arrived with in 2 days of the order.

      • jaZzyjeff

Doesn’t full discount mean free? I know this because one of the lines in my Family Plan just ended its 2 year contract last month and when I called Loyalty to see what kind of deal they could give me they told me I could upgrade to a new phone at “full discount” which I assumed meant free.

        • Dewey Cox

          No…..it doesn’t

        • jaZzyjeff

          Oh…..ok

        • Marzucobbt

Full discount just means you get the same price a new customer would.

        • http://profiles.google.com/marzucobbt Rob Zuco

Full discount just means you get the same price a new customer would.

        • jaZzyjeff

          Well that sucks!

      • EJD

I had the exact same thing happen today. I had an aborted upgrade in march and it caused the same problem for me. Although you will have to wait til wednesday the earliest, if you play your cards right you`ll pay the same price that Walmart listed and get a $30-$40 credit on your account. You just have to speak with customer loyalty and tell them you going to cancel your account and believe me they will be more than willing to match Walmarts price and give you an account credit for you trouble. The only down side is you`d have order the phone through customer loyalty (retail stores are not authorized to price match) directly and wait for it arrive.  (usually 2 days) I know this because they offered it to me, and I will most likely to do it. It sucks I know, but if your diligent and patient you can essentially walk away with this phone for around $120. You`re other option is to wait for the fathers day sale on the 18th and hope they have a sale. (we should know by like wed or thur what the promo for the sale will be) I hope that helped.

    • Screwymatt

I’ve called every Wal-mart that I’d be willing to drive to for this phone and every single one of them have said “We won’t know if we are carrying this phone until the day it gets here” to me this kind of business seems a little silly. All the Wal-marts are 1 1/2 hour + drive from here so I don’t want to just go on a whim. Today after being bounced from womens lingerie and house hold electronics I finally got a nice person in Wireless Connections who said to call at 8am tomorrow because that’s when they will finally know.

      • jaZzyjeff

Well tomorrow is the official day for Wal-Mart to be selling them so I would think you can go into any Wal-Mart and pick one up.

        • Screwymatt

          Got mine today!

  • http://twitter.com/JHNY_DRKO Johnathan K. Johnson

Now the HTC Sensation seems to have a sale price of 149.99 @ Walmart.  I checked this morning, and the phone is higher than the 148.88 (by a whole 1.11, oh no!), but still a different price.

  • Inthepyramid

I’m eligible for a partial discount, does Wal Mart honor that?

    • no

      no

    • EJD

Walmart will only honor full upgrades for purchases of this phone. You`ll have to get it from a tmo retailer. They do have a trade in program now so if you are replacing your current and you purchase a new phone and turn in your old one they will cut you a check for it.(up to $100) This may help to offset the fact you have a partial upgrade. Hope this helps.

  • Celtic88

I just ordered the sensation on tmobiles customer service line

    • EJD

really? When did they say you should receive it?

      • EJD

I just called customer service and they do not even have a date in the system yet, so they are unable to place any orders for the phone. Maybe I`m missing something here, and maybe you know something I don`t, but if you know of a way to order this phone through customer service let I`m all ears.

        • Celtic88

i called them this morning about 2 hours ago and asked them if i was eligible for an upgrade and they said yes and asked what phone i wanted and i told them sensation they went over the new 2 year warranty and asked if i wanted express shipping or ground and i said express for free and they agreed and that was it.

        • Celtic88

they said i should get it tuesday

        • EJD

How much did you pay for it?

        • EJD

Do you have the name of the rep you spoke with??

        • Celtic88

i forgot her name but i started off complaining about why i couldnt upgrade from the even more plus plan since they talked me into it and that was when we started wheeling and dealing

        • EJD

I just called again and they said this phone is not in the system yet and could not process it for an upgrade.

        • Celtic88

wow thats weird.. i even have my confirmation email and everything

        • Inthepyramid

I just ordered it from customer service too. He originally told me it wasn’t available yet, and I told him about this post, so he checked it and found it. Went with the express shipping and it will be here Wednesday.

        • EJD

I ordered the phone!! I should have it by wednesday And because I had an earlier aborted upgrade which locked my account from uprading at walmart they sold me the phone for 199.99 plus a $30 credit on my account! Making my grand total $169.99! It is a little more than walmart but I`m good with this price. Thanks for the heads up celtic

        • Celtic88

          no problem

        • ekoy

yes I also called customer service. they said I can order it today but told them I’ll just wait from the retail store to pick it up.

        • Celtic88

Just got mine from Costco. Not as impressed as I thought I would be. As because I have had a BlackBerry for the last year and a half. In all fairness I have only had it an hour.

    • Melissa

Oh I also had to increase my monthly payment by ten bucks

  • Eduardo8636

Does anyone know what Walmart around the Chicago area is selling the sensation?

    • GB55

I got 2 of them at the Kenosha location (about 1hr north of Chicago). They had 3 left yesterday morning.

  • Pissed in Houston

omg!!! walmart just ruined my weekend!

i went today at 10am when they had promised the would be able to sell it. the only guy there didnt know how to use the system, he told me to come back at 3pm when the other person would be there

i went back at 3 and the guy who was supposed to be there was late so there was a line already waiting for him to get there

he spent like an hour with the guy in front of me trying to figure out how to do it and calling the Tmo help line… when i finally got to the front of the line, the f*cktard told me that he couldnt do it bc i was on a family plan! even tho i called Tmo ahead of time and told me that they would be able to do it

the gas and precious time wasted was worth way more than the $50

i called Tmo and they gave me free express shipping, no activation fee and discounted data plan to help make up for what happened, thanks Tmo!!!

i remembered why i dont go to walmart and vow to never set foot in that dump again!

    • jaZzyjeff

What kind of discounted data plan did you get?

  • J. Williams

    Got mine today…woohoo…

  • Anonymous

I got two this morning at the Elk Grove, CA Walmart for only $148.88 each! Whatya think about THAT?

  • Eduardo8636

Does anyone know if when you renew your contract does the phone still cos 149.99?

    • H-Town Freak!

      Yup… $148.88 with an upgrade :-)

  • Eduardo8636

Does anyone know if when you renew your contract does the phone still cos 149.99?

  • TP06

Saw this post…headed up to my local Wal-Mart…and yep…they had ONE in stock. I added a line to my account, purchased the phone for the advertised 148.88 price and then immediately headed to the nearest t-mobile location to make sure the person at Wal-Mart entered the correct information on my account. The t-mobile rep was happy to look over my account…explained that “everything looked good”. So there you go…simple as that…I added an extra step by visiting the t-mobile store, but all-in-all…the process was painless and I ended up saving some $$$.

How did u get the sensation through t-mobile customer service? I tried and tried and tried….no dice. They said they dont even have a date in their system for it….even worse, I thought I was eligable for a full discount, but instead, I’m only eligable for an early upgrade.  :-(   I guess I’ll just have to add a line to get that discount, then just cancel after 14 days….

    • Vcmedina00
