T-Mobile To Carry Samsung Galaxy S 2?

If we were to take a straw poll as to what already announced Android phone T-Mobile customers want to see on the Magenta network, the Galaxy S 2 would undoubtedly be at the top of the list. With that in mind we might have some good news. First comes the above picture which comes courtesy of Adobe.com and while it’s a little tough to make out, a little zooming in magic shows a decent image of the Galaxy S 2 complete with Touchwiz 4.0 icons. Compare the image above which has the same exact layout as the image below including wallpaper, widget placement and the Touchwiz 4.0 icons. Stranger photoshop magic has happened however but we’re hearing lots of buzz about the device arriving on Magenta shores.

Moving to the picture below comes via a tipster who claims they are using an existing Galaxy S 2 on the T-Mobile network right now. While we were only able to grab the one shot and its certainly possible it could be an unlocked Galaxy S 2 using Facebook on T-Mobile, we remain hopeful the Galaxy S 2 is landing on T-Mobile sometime in the not so distant future. Of course, until we have something more concrete, we’ll hold off using any words like “exclusive, confirmed or guaranteed.”

I work at T-mobile and when the Samsung rep was in he actually told me, “tmobile will deff see the samsung Gs2 before xmas” Not sure if he knew that for sure or why he would say it but it made me happy

    • Anonymous

Those “Samsung reps” don’t work for Samsung. They’re contract workers, most likely working through MarketStar or some kind of marketing team hired by Samsung. They’re so far away from insider info, they’re more like walking magazine ads. They provide no more information than the official Samsung website could offer.

i’m in need of a new phone badly. my blackberry is close to death. lol i’m trying to hold off till late june early july. i can upgrade saturday but i really want to wait. i’m eying either this or the sensation, but you never know with t-mo. their releasing kick ass phones since the merger was announced. the only thing to envy is the iphone. yea its not the greatest of phones out there but everybody wants it just because its the iphone. i read on apple in the forums that its coming to tmobile im may but i doubt it. then again u never know with tmobile these days.

    • Virtue

Lol I’m in the same boat. I’m not going to settle for a Sensation though. The SGSII is just too good to be passed up =)

      • Gentleman559

God choice. The Sensation is crap. I had one and went back to the G2X.

    • Petey

I want the iPhone lol. Want to switch back and forth from android and iOS vice versa

Galaxy II is definitely coming to Magenta, straight from the horse’s mouth at a Galaxy S 4G training event in Illinois. Samsung had a director of marketing there saying we would get our version of the Galaxy II because Magenta had the best sales of any Galaxy model sold here in the US. He said we would have a version on T-mobile soon and it was because of the 1 million + sales we had on the original Vibrant. I have no reason to doubt him and he said this in front of 80+ T-mobile reps, I know some are out there that can back this up.

I want a dual core phone…been trying to hold out for this phone or a dual core Nexus (Preferably) but will take whatever comes first…in fact I will take 3 of them.

  • Rfg3

I am so glad i got a tmobile g2x touch wiz is a load of crap. the g2x is running like a beauty its good to see phones with dual processors revving it up out their

    • Auser72

Its okay to feel good about your purchase without having to degrade other products. Touchwiz and htc sense are excellent at what they do and excellent for their target market, just because its not your preference doenst means its crap.

I have always liked Samsung. I had the Vibrant and the only complaint I had was the GPS. I own 3 Samsung TV’s, Two LCD’s and one LED. I haven’t had any problems with them and in my opinion they have a better picture than any other TV manufacturer. The only one I would say is equal to Samsung is Sony and thats because there displays come from the same factory. Any way back to phones. I currently have a G2X right now but I might end up getting the GSII depending on a couple things. I got used to Touch Wiz and I actually think it’s a pretty good UI. It’s music app is great and I love the little touches it adds like swipe to call or swipe to text. Hopefully the T-Mobile keeps the camera flash and doesn’t alter it to much.

    • Rik The Prick

it has great battery life cock suck, read the reviews. Amoled screens use much less power than LCD because of the single pixel lighting, also the dual cores make processes move faster, which, you guessed it, uses less battery. Dumbass.

Calling someone a “cock suck” for absolutely no reason makes you look extremely foolish. You can stop now.

Funny because I  never get dropped calls when using my Vibrant on Tmo.  When I was a Sprint and ATT customer I had dropped calls everyday.  Correction… there are certain times I get dropped calls currently… when I talk to my brother on his iPhone with ATT.  So, who has the crappy network?  And no other cellular company can boast the type of customer service as Tmobile, simply the best!!  (I’ll be happy as long as ATT doesn’t take over Tmo like it looks that they may be; 2nd worse cellular company taking over the best one)

      • Ohgreatone2

That is how people say goodbye on an AT&T phone….”Hello, hello, hello”, click.

Ok, maybe I am missing something.  I am a T Mobile customer and cannot wait to get the Samsung Galaxy S 2. For a long time I heard rumors that they would not be getting it. Now I am hearing they might get it/have already gotten it. I just went to the T Mobile website and searched for 4G phones and do not see it listed. Can someone please help explain to me what I am missing?  Thanks!

Not sure where you have been getting your news, but it’s the opposite of which you speak.

I have never heard that T-Mobile would NOT be getting the SGS II.  Matter of fact, back when the SGS II was announced I posted on many sites that Samsung would repeat its Samsung Galaxy S strategy and get the SGS II into as many carriers’ hands as possible (because it wanted to be the largest handset maker in the world, taking the spot from Nokia).

And TMoNews posted a story months ago (that got picked up on many sites) that speculated the “Hercules” was T-Mobile’s version of the SGS II.  (TMoNews was right.)

Lastly, T-Mobile has never marketed phones until about a month before they launch. Up until then it issues “leaks” in the form of Net chatter, blurry to sharper pics, YouTube videos, then finally a press release.

Assuming a September release, you won’t see anything on T-Mobile’s website until late August.

      • http://www.danrichey.com Dan Richey

        Michael,

Thank you for answering my question.  I see where I was confused. The different forums and sites I was reading from were talking about the Hercules, which I now understand is supposed to be similar to the SGS II, but not the same phone.  I am currently using my age old blackberry pearl and am trying to decide which phone to upgrade to.

Thanks for the answer, I am now going to hold off and wait until to September to see how the phone looks and what its capabilites are.  I agree with you though, $500 to $600 is so so much for a cell phone.  Wow…

By the way Dan… I have speculated this will be T-Mobile’s most expensive offering.  Look to pay $300 subsidized or $550 to $600 retail.

      That’s a lot, for a cell phone.
