Nice device, if it was priced 300 dollars less. At 749.99 there is no way I am getting one. Dont think many others are either.

Most Tablet companies must realize (Motorola has already). That consumers with gasoline prices as high as they are, will not consider shelling out 3 times the amount of money for a device like this.

Asus is the only one that got it right. LG/Motorola and associates, just dont have their thinking cap on.

    • Nexus Guy

I’m still waiting for the email with the surprise they promised. It says to wait at least 48 hours before purchasing it on the web, and you will get an email with a nice surprise. Hopefully a slight drop in price.

      • Doug Baker

Does anyone have any idea on what the special offer will be?
I am either going to a store in a few hours or waiting for the offer, if it worth it?
        any idea

        • http://twitter.com/SocalFrank1 Frank Alvarez

They should have released that info by now….maybe they will pass out the discount after all the early adopters have paid full retail.

        • http://twitter.com/mrjlwilliams J. Williams

The email says to wait 48 hours before purchasing, and you will receive another email with an offer. I would wait…

    • Anonymous

I agree with the pricing being high, if it’s priced higher than an Ipad people will buy the ipad first.

  • Anonymous

Tmonews I bet you guys are havin a good time with all these releases. Keep up keepin us posted! Next, some Sensational news and the next oh so hated Galaxy S (why’s the phone I want gotta be last)

    • Havoktek

      Me too Pimp, me too….Patiently……waiting!!!!!!

    • Auser72

Had stop checking tmonews for a while, after 2-3 month drought with no real newsworthy post. Happy to see things back on track.

      • http://tmonews.com David

Dare you say you stopped checking the website? I’m hurt!

        • Auser72

Didn’t completely stop, I would peep in with fingers crossed hoping for something new… Lol. Now I just sit back and wait to see how creative the complaints get, since tmobile is now delivering everything and then some of their wish list.

    • Anonymous

      Save the best for last.

    • jarjon76

I can’t wait for the Sensation/Pyramid. That’s the only phone I’m drooling over at the moment. The G2x is nice and all, but once I saw the Sensation, I was sold.

  • Mainlandking

Good deal. You know, instead of complaining, either buy or don’t buy. Last I checked, none of these manufacturers hired naysayers of the gslate, xoom, or any other tablet to analyze anything price wise. Working for tmobile, of all customers who called me, 90% wanted the gslate and was ready to pay for it in full.

    • Anonymous

So people who called you (i guess in the last 24 hours, i dunno) wanted the G-Slate vs. the G2x or SK4G 9 to 1 ratio?

    • jarjon76

Biased noted. Consumers can complain about pricing if they want, and in this case they are correct with their complaints.

  • mike

everyone complaining about price…it has a 3d video camer and is only $20 more than the 32GB iPad 2…which from what i hear is selling just fine…

    • Vjballa21

this device is definitely cutting edge. the 3d digitial video camcorder is amazing!! Imagine taking a video of the beach and it looking good enough to just walk through the screen and touch. Its really great. I want one so bad. I wish I qualified for the installment plan

      • Auser72

I wouldnt take to the beach for fear of elements;…lol. but you are right, you are getting cutting edge technology at a price comparable to other tablets that cant many of the thing the G Slate can do.

      • Mikewong27

Vjballa21, have you even seen reviews on the G-Slate? Lots of reviewer says that 3D video quality is terrible… It’s grainy and not as sharp as a normal camera. I would recommend everyone google search G-Slate reviews before they blindly place an order online.

As for me, I’ll only consider this G-Slate if it has Wifi only version and it’s below $500…. I personally think that Acer Iconia A500 and Asus Eee Transformer will outsell the G-Slate when they both come out in few weeks.

      • jarjon76

I could care less about 3D, esp if I;m required to wear glasses to view it. And like Mikewong27 pointed out, the early reviews on the 3D feature is meh at best (from what I’ve read). 3D on phones and tablets is just idiocracy.

    • whosaidwhat

What people don’t understand is that Ipad will sell because it is the king of tablet’s. It is a proven system and has a HUGE market share. Apple will sell millions regardless of how locked down it is or what kind of features it’s missing.

      LG isn’t apple.

      • Anonymous

King of tablets? but for how long? I think the new G-slate would be a great contender to fight in a battle. What say you David? Do like the boys at phonedog and put select devices to the test for our eyes to see?

        • Anonymous

A contender in a spec battle but not sales. That’s like Allen* Iverson tryina dunk on Yao Ming.

        • whosaidwhat

Yes, king of tablets. For how long? I don’t know but I predict they will hold that title for the next 2 years. They have managed to match most of the specs of these Android tablets and are doing a good job of whooping them on price by offering 16GB wifi only version. Statistically, that’s the model they sell the most.

Samsung didn’t decide to redesign their tab 10.1 and improve a few things here and there for fun. They also announced decent pricing and availability. They want to compete with, the king of tablets.

    • Mikewong27

and you have to sign a two year contract with T-mobile… What a waste of money!!!

    • jarjon76

Doesn’t mean that the price is way over priced. The ipad are ridiculously priced as well.

      • jarjon76

        *isn’t

    • Jeremy

Great point! It’s the most advanced tablet on the market to date. So for everyone that wants to look at this as an apples to apples comparison, go educate yourselves a little bit more before you complain about pricing.

  • Kev30591

i don’t care about this! show us more info about the HTC Sensational or Samsung Galaxy S2!

    • Aerofanbig

Then why did you open a page with a topic you KNEW you didn’t care about…and go so far as to comment about it? These posts are dumb, and they don’t suddenly make non-existent information about future phones suddenly appear for David to post about. Doing the “who cares tell me about XXX!!!” is more or less a mild form of trolling.

      • http://tmonews.com David

        Amen, preach preach!

    • Anonymous

Then why did you read this post? Tard.

    • jarjon76

It’s the Sensation, genius. And if you didn’t care, why did you read this post AND comment?

  • Jack

I ordered mine last night at 10pm. Naysayers…..just go somewhere else and complain. My money….and you know what, I will probably get the Flyer for the woman also.

    • Jack

And my co-workers have had them for a few days now, and since then, I have been using it while I “work”. It is a great device. Very sleek and feels great in the hands. I don’t like holding a device with no weight to it. Great for movies/videos, and just exploring.
3.0 took me a few minutes to get my bearings on where specific buttons were, but I loved it.

  • http://ghostbyte.com/ Morgan O’Neal

I already have a unlimited everything plan for my G2. Does anyone know the minimum new monthly I’m going to have to pay for this to get the discount?

    • Rikmannix

its 12 months and you get 50 of the full cost of the phone

  • Yurdadee

YaaaaaaaaaY for me and T-Mobile’s great employee discount!!! Waited 3 years to get my 65% discount but I got it, and I picked up a G-Slate for only $269 and NO CONTRACT for me… me so lucky!!! I bet the T-Mobile employees with the 100% discount are jumping up and down!

    • Mikewong27

      who cares!!!

      • Yurdadee

        apparently your dumb arse does…

        • http://twitter.com/mrjlwilliams J. Williams

          LOL…cold, just cold. LOL

        • mmeyer4663

Yeah. I got frosty eyeballs from these replys! Ouch! :-)

        • Mwang1977

Yurdadee.. what the hell does “arse” mean? what the hell are you talking about!!! Learn how to spell you dumb ass!!!

    • mmeyer4663

How did you get it that cheap and no contract?
I received my G-Slate announcement e-mail saying it’s almost here and “Stay tuned for the offer before you purchase your G-Slate online—it will be worth the wait!”
      Wonder what that means?

      • jarjon76

Can you not read? He clearly stated he got it for that price via his employee discount. Geez.

      • mmeyer4663

Saw that when I hit the submit button. Lighten up dude!

  • Mikewong27

Why can’t LG learn from Motorola’s mistake with Xoom? G-Slate is way too expensive!!! They should release the wifi only version on the day of product release and lower the price to below $500. I was considering purchasing the G-Slate few months ago until I found out about the price. Now I’m considering Acer Iconia A500 or Asus Eee Transformer.

  • Anonymous

I laugh at all the comments saying, “If it was $350, I’d buy it.” No kidding. Who wouldn’t buy an awesome Android tablet at $350. There’s an unrealistic expectation that Android tablets should be cheaper than cell phones, despite obviously requiring more materials to produce. In my own humble opinion, this follows along the same line as a lot of Android users out there that only want stuff on the cheap. Let’s not pretend we’re not familiar with the type, because you see them scattered throughout the comments for apps in the Android Market (e.g., “This app was great until they threw in the f-ing ads.” or “$3.99 is way too much. Refunded. Would buy if $0.99. Should be free though.”).

That being said, $750 for this thing (off contract) is way too much. I predict the same fate as the Motorola Xoom on Verizon. $450 on contract, or $650 off contract, would push a lot more of these things out the door. As much as I don’t like Apple’s iPad (before you snap at me, I own one), there is–right now–more compelling reasons to buy one of those than a G-Slate. Without enough units physically in the hands of everyday users, developers simply are not going to develop apps for Honeycomb. Companies like Motorola and LG need to start thinking long-term. A slimmer profit-margin now will mean a bigger fan following in the future.

    Just my two cents…

    • whosaidwhat

I saw if Asus can build a quality tablet for $399, then Motorola and LG shouldn’t be charging $750 and offer only one model. They’re repeating exactly what Motorola did with the Xoom. “Let’s do the same thing, we have 3D and a smaller size screen to boot”.

WHERE the hell is the promo code ??. I haven’t received nothing yet. I was about to pull the trigger.

    • mmeyer4663

From my sign up notification e-mail:

“Our first 4G Android™ 3.0 tablet will soon be unleashed. As a thank-you for pre-registering, you will receive a special, limited–time offer by email within the next 48 hours.

Stay tuned for the offer before you purchase your G-Slate online—it will be worth the wait!”

      Another 48 hours?!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_A2L6OOA3KQZQN3JENDVZI2VZFA Jim Lee

I would guess they’re trying to stagger orders, probably to alleviate a supply pinch.

I will still likely be ordering online if they get me a code in the remaining 9 hours before their email becomes a lie. The local storefront was less encouraging…not only none in stock (even though located in a middle-to-major market outside a capital city), but staff acted dismissive of the tech. (Seriously?!?) Furthermore, they insisted on providing me with false information. (“Oh, you don’t need Easy Pay or a voice plan to get the rebate.”) Even when I suggested the appropriate clicky on the T-Mobile site itself.

I swear, I’ve seldom seen a company trying so hard to fail. One shouldn’t feel compelled to paper bag one’s partner when standing at the altar, yet that’s how I feel…I really want this tablet, but I keep having to overlook these warning signs I’m seeing.

        • Doug Baker

A supply problem is my guess also. THey know the earlier adoptoers will buy, so hold them off and let the others have the early supply. for $100, not a bad deal.

  • HTC10 9tabforme

why would anyone by a tab on a technology that is going bye bye in a year.

wait for the HTC 10.9 on VZW with LTE and you will get true 4G at 14M.

Meanwhile, me and my G2 will sulk as I do the weekly battery pull cause the phone locks.

Greeeaaaat. Glad i didnt root it. Now I have to deal with the lame customer service.

Pull the battery, insert the battery, wipe the phone….blah blah ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

promocode is $100 more on top of 529.
So 429 for this tab is excellent deal even with contract.

    • http://profiles.google.com/demmelha Dan Emmelhainz

Code is GSLATE100, must phone in order. expires 4/27

      • Doug Baker

I picked up one yesterday at a local t-mobile store. I told them about the special offer that was coming. They must have confirmed part of it, They promised to match the price once I had receved the special email.
so as soon as I get the same email, I am going back and getting $100.00 back. 439 (although after 100 rebate) is a nice price. data for $40, I can afford.

  • jarjon76

Just got an e-mail about the $100 of promo code. Not bad for $429 on a 2 year.
