T-Mobile Announces HTC Sensation, 4.3″ Of Android Greatness

Boom, here’s the best T-Mobile news we’ve heard in quite some time as they formally announce the exclusive arrival of the HTC Sensation this summer. Better known to most of us as the HTC Pyramid the Sensation received its official unveiling courtesy of HTC this morning at a special event held in London.

The specs are right in line with rumors that began back in early February with a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor, 4.3″ qHD screen (540×960 pixels), full HD video in 1080p resolution, 8 megapixel camera and it’s all running on T-Mobile’s 4G network.

Along with the above specs the Sensation will also bring about a new HTC Sense experience that has a customizable active lockscreen transforming the lockscreen into a “real-time” windows displaying your important content. Along with sharper graphics, vibrant animations and new widgets HTC Sense will be better than ever.

There you have it, the Sensation comes this summer. Sensational!

Full Press Release:

HTC today announced its next T-Mobile exclusive phone, the HTC Sensation 4G. Coming this Summer, the HTC Sensation 4G will be T-Mobile’s most powerful handset.

You don’t like to wait forever for content to load and now you don’t have to. With a 1.2 Ghz dual core Snapdragon 2 processor running on America’s Largest 4G Network, the HTC Sensation 4G delivers all the entertainment you can handle.  Web pages delivered in the snap of a finger.  Watch videos now, not in five minutes.  Video games outside in the sun?  No problem with T-Mobile’s largest, most high resolution screen, a 4.3” qHD touch screen (540×960 pixels).

HTC Innovation
HTC devices have become synonymous with innovation. The HTC Sensation 4G builds upon that reputation with the introduction of a new version of HTC Sense, technology that enhances the user experience, and a new premium design.

HTC Sense
The latest HTC Sense experience boasts a host of new features and enhancements, helping people to have more fun and get more done. New experiences include:

  • A customizable active lockscreen experience that transforms the lockscreen into a real-time window to the most important information and content.  Social updates, photos, weather or stock updates can be viewed by simply waking up the display.
  • Sharper graphics, vibrant animations and new widgets make HTC Sense look better than ever.
  • A more cinematic and immersive weather experience with stunning imagery and audible weather effects.

HTC Sense also makes it easy to have fun by enabling people to capture and share special moments. The HTC Sensation 4G’s 8-megapixel camera doesn’t just shoot gorgeous photos but, with the new instant capture feature, let’s people capture the moments they want without worrying about missing or keeping up with the action. The HTC Sensation 4G also shoots full HD video in 1080p resolution, with full stereo sound, at up to 30 frames a second, giving the user smooth video that is better than many other phones.  With the new Video Trimmer tool, people can crop their clips to the perfect size for easy sharing with friends and family.

Premium Design and Materials
Tapping into HTC’s trademark design, the HTC Sensation 4G’s premium look and feel is enhanced by its rounded edges, aluminum unibody construction and the touch screen surface protected by a contoured screen that feels more natural as a finger is glided across it. The 4.3-inch qHD display delivers high-resolution widescreen viewing and gives the HTC Sensation 4G slender proportions that feel natural in a person’s hand.

Keep an eye out for additional information about the HTC Sensation 4G to be announced over the coming months.

Anyone know yet if this will have the chipset to enable Netflix DRM?

    • Anonymous

Hey buddy. Yes, this qualcomm is DRM compatible. As a matter of fact, the HTC’s “watch” app relies on DRM for movie rentals and purchase so you can retire your HD2

      • mmeyer4663

        Cool!

So yea I was pretty much sold on the G2x, but now I’m looking at this HTC Sensation and thinking about just keeping my CM7 rooted T-Mobile G2 and my stock phone and picking this up hopefully it’ll be out around my birthday in June

  • http://twitter.com/iDiotGear Rob Daman

now we talking! that means in the fall there will be even a better phone.

  • DiMartini

Do I pay full price for the G2X and then upgrade to the Sensation? Or should I just get the Optimus T for $175 from Radio Shack and upgrade to the Sensation? I guess I’ll wait to see if it comes with both T-Mobile and AT&T radios in case the the Imperial Forces take over the Rebel Alliance. My MyTouch 3G is dying a slow painful death and I don’t think I could hold out past this month without wanting to kill myself. What to do, what to do

    • Mrosswilson

Just upgrade straight to the sensation. Don’t waste your money on an intermediary phone.

  • Anonymous

Whats the amount of on-board storage on this thing? I don’t think I can do anything less than 2GBs. My nexus one is always crying foe more space with its puny 512MBs

    • http://profiles.google.com/neok182 Nathan Olonoff

      1GB internal storage.

Man, I am spoiled with this 2 GB app storage on the vibrant and I know when I upgrade the phone will have less.

Decisions Decisions. Do I get the LG G2X and future proof against an AT&T approved takeover, or do I go with the Pyramid and some HTC Sense goodness? My oh my, what a conundrum this has become.

    • Quailallstar

I’m in the same boat as you… Vanilla Android does sound enticing enough for me to not get the Pyramid. Unless I could strip all the HTC Sense garbage and install Vanilla Android? :)

      • http://profiles.google.com/neok182 Nathan Olonoff

we don’t know the USA bands yet so it’s very possible that it will include the AT&T bands once it gets here.

@Quailallstar: almost every HTC phone has gotten Cyanogenmod support. Now it’ll be 2-4 months after release, but i would be surprised if this device didn’t get added to the CM roster. Honestly you’ll probably have someone from the team mention it this week like was done with the Nexus S and G2X.

        • Quailallstar

          @Nathan Olonoff

Thanks for that incite… I’ve never owned an HTC phone before so I really don’t know about the modifications out there or what kind of following it has…

Being the geek I am, this has me excited. Well so does the ASUS Transformer ;)

        • http://twitter.com/jbjtkbw00 jbjtkbw00

The MyTouch 4G is my second HTC phone. I’m iffy on LG and updates, but being pure Google, that is the only platform to get updates quicker than HTC (even Moto hasn’t pulled that off). I THINK I’m leaning towards the LG but I’ve wanted that Pyramid for so long.

Time for a coin flip. Best of 7???

    • Mrosswilson

Just get what you want now. ATT/T-Mobile can’t force you to purchase a new phone when/if the merger goes through immediately. Worst case scenario, you are forced to upgrade your phone within a year of completion. Either of those phones will be obsolete by then.

      • CAL_08

I think the point was that this phone may not work on at&t’s 3g/4g network (at least it’s not been mentioned as of yet). The G2x has the banding necessary to be compatible on both. Voice calls should be fine either way, but why would you want a smart phone with a data plan that can only run on the edge network? This is a problem that faces all T-mobile customers unless they start selling phones compatible on both networks.

  • Mick T.

Tough choice indeed between this and the GX2 based on the style of the phone. I’ve been thinking of getting the GX2, but I don’t really like the way that it looks a bit like an iPhone. I don’t don’t dislike the iPhone look, but if I want an iPhone I’d get an iPhone. I’m also worried about how durable the GX2 is (I’m pretty fairly tough on phones and they get scratched to bits) so the gorilla glass on the Sensation would be a big pro.

Also, I like the way the HTC phone looks, it looks modern without trying to be an iPhone clone. What might also make the difference is the weight and size. The GX2 supposed to be 5oz and the Sensation supposed to be 5.22oz, and the Sensation is supposed to be bigger at 4.96×2.57×0.44in vs 2.5×4.9×0.4 for the GX2.

I usually keep my phone in my pocket and size, weight, durability matters to me. When the GX2 comes out, I plan to go to a store to see it in person, as I find that actually seeing, holding, and using a phone in the flesh is much different than look at pics/videos.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GRIFVUHCR7SCF2J4ACDIVSVGJM Hilton T.Y

Wait, you keep a $500 phone in your pocket? Get a belt case man. You gotta protect your investment.

      • Mick T.

I know, I know, I just never liked belt-cases, and the last time I used one the think almost got ripped my trousers when I was at a concert. :)

        • msprinkl

          Did you say “trousers”? :-)

        • http://twitter.com/PaliHustlaOD Odai Jaber

Lol @ the trousers. But buy something to protect it! (as in the phone and not your “trousers”)

    • Caao

I thought g2x had gorilla glass as well.

  • Fry

Shut up and take my money!!

  • BigMixxx

DAMN! Well..you know…looks like I’m going to wait a LITTLE longer and hold on to my HD2 for a couple more months. I WAS SET to buy the G2X. This little monster comes along and Suddenly T mobile has a VERY NICE LINEUP of phones.

If this AT&T deal does not go through, I see T mobile with 3 billion in cash, to offer up another mobile entity. The phone lineup is suddenly shaking up nicely, network is building out well….

  • Petey

Ahh this is a tough decision. I’m interested in the next iPhone, the G2x & now the Sensation. I’ll probably wait till all of these three come out to choose & big decision of all is the acquisition. If it get approves then I have to see what I really want to do… either stay or go elsewhere.

but Loving the Sensation tho, the ram is abit the downside as well as the backcover… I wonder if there’s a replacement cover I can change on the back cus it’s abit ugly. lol.

      Lol @ iphone

I’m I’m still confused about the processor here.
Is it two 600 GHz processor or two1.2 GHz processor here?

    • http://profiles.google.com/danieljamesrice Dan Rice

two 1.2Ghz processors. I’m still getting the G2X though

      • http://profiles.google.com/radfordtd Radford Dickson

1 dual core 1.2 processor. just like dual core processors in laptops. it only has 1 processor with 2 cores that can handle different task with ease and consume very little battery.

        • Anonymous

the 1.2 dual core processor on the sensation is still based on the older A8. The tegra2, although 1 gig dual core is still better because its a newer A9 chipset

      • Anonymous

Just wondering… does the g2x have anything over this baby?

        • http://profiles.google.com/guitarskeelz Eion Woods

Stock android, and 4.3 inches is too big for some people’s pockets. Also, much better chance of unlockable bootloader.

        • Anonymous

Personally I don’t care about whether its stock or not. Is the only advantage quicker updates (besides preference of looks)? Or is the unlockable bootloader related to stock too? I figured ther would be more hacks on the sensations since its an HTC.

that’s all good. i love htc, but i have a g1 with a shattered screen. can’t wait till summer. plus, if recovery is signed, we’ll be waiting months for root, like aug. or sept. i’m too impatient. watching the devs in irc go at it on the g2 for what seemed like months was amazing. i’m just too impatient. especially after staring at a cracked screen for months. 4.3 is ideal for me. but i’ll live with a 4 inch screen and tegra zone. this will most likely be my last phone with tmo. maybe one more after this. but the g2x and cyan should hold me over till the merger is finalized and i jump ship to sprint.

  • Jay Rello

Selling the mYtouch 4G on ebay for this one… Ive been waiting on another htc replacement! Wanted a bigger screen just cause! HTC all the way… Will be gettin the wifi only flyer also

  • http://twitter.com/brianLbloom Brian Bloom

I’d been chomping at the bit for the G2X (to ditch my BB Curve), but my contract is up in May and rather than pay the ETF for just one month, I came up with a more flexible workaround:
Bought a Nook Color yesterday, loaded up CM7 on it. Now I have my Android fix for the short term, and can hold out until there’s a sale on either the G2X or Sensation. And if either of them support mobile hotspot, then I will be able to use the 7 inch Nook for full net surfing anywhere too. Best of both worlds. Now I don’t need a larger phone screen.

    So.. prices anyone?

    • msprinkl

LOVE my Nook Color. What is the link for the CM7? I had rooted it with something else, but have heard great things about CM7. I just haven’t gotten around to doing it. Question. Do you know if it would overwrite the annotations (highlights and bookmarks) in my existing Nook Books?

  • flan

Is this T-Mo’s first HTC-branded phone? G1, MT3G, G2, MT4G were all T-Mobile branded. N1 and NS were Google-branded. Additionally, will this be T-Mo’s first true Sense phone?

Will this phone have AT&T 3G/4G bands?

    • bodan

First android sense phone. The Touch Pro 2 had touch flo which was rebranded sense and the HD2 had sense.

  • Durandal_1707

HTC has a specs page up, and it only lists the 900, 1700, and 2100 bands for HSPA/WCDMA.

    http://www.htc.com/www/product/sensation/specification.html

There is a footnote that says that bands outside of Europe and Asia may be different, but since the European version has only three bands listed, it’s probably safe to say that it’s not using a quad-band UMTS chipset like the G2X does.

    • flan

Wow, really? Unless you’re someone who buys new phones every 6 months at full price, you’d have to be an idiot to buy this phone knowing the 3G/4G radio is going to stop working at some point.

      • J-Hop2o6

maybe.. deal isn’t finalized yet.. but its leaning more towards a block by the Feds.

  • Wilco

I have the Vibrant, which after upgrading to the official 2.2 OS, has been humming along as good as I could hope for. I love the 16G internal, with 2G for apps, but it is time for another upgrade.

Samsung S2: appears to be extremely strong in terms of memory, processor power, phenomenal graphics, and loads of RAM (1G). Love that it ships with 2.3.
LG G2X: Likely my next phone, and it looks strong with Vanilla, but I am gun-shy of “hoping” for the upgrade which never quite pans out. Disappointment only the 512M of RAM and the screen appears to be weaker than my Vibrant. But it comes out this week, and I am ready now.
HTC Sensation: Thought I would never go to 4.3, but this would be my exception. Love the storage, the raw processor power, and the 768M RAM is nice. The profile on this 4.3 is very similar to the 4″ profile of the other two phones.

I guess I would stack rank them as:
    1st: Samsung S2
    2nd: HTC Sensation
    3rd: LG G2X

But I will very likely get the G2x unless I know when T-Mo ships the other two phones.

  • msprinkl

Darn….what to do? Tempting, but Vanilla is my favorite flavor. Might have to still stick with G2x.

    • Anonymous

well…..if u into “root” and “custom roms” you’ll always have options to flash AOSP roms like infamous Cyanogen ;)

      • http://profiles.google.com/guitarskeelz Eion Woods

HTC’s been getting a bad rep for locked down phones lately, though, so I’d rather not take my chances.

        • Anonymous

anything is possible with any android device if u visit xda-developers.com.they make it happen :)

        • Anonymous

It was possible for XDA developers because HTC didn’t lock down their phones so tightly before.

I’m sure it will still be possible, but the added difficulty may discourage a lot of the devs.

I, for one, love HTC Sense, so it not having vanilla Android doesn’t bother me at all. I almost prefer Sense over stock Android because I find stock Android very bland and boring. This phone looks very promising.

    • msprinkl

If HTC was here now, I would likely get it. But being the bland and boring guy I am, I will probably get the G2x. Off to buy a cheese pizza and a dozen plain cake donuts now….

So I’ve finally found the first solid contender to replace my slowly dying Nexus One. At first the G2X was choice but Im not a LG fan or a fan of plastic. That also killed the option of getting the Nexus S. But with 4.3in high res screen, iPhonies will be creaming their pants in jealousy over this phone. Im an HTC fan and they have helped form my decision about switching carriers for now. Just cant wait to root it and have my free tethering. I cant live without this feature. My friends Inspire 4G will look like a novice now lol. I cant wait to see how Words With Friends look on a large beautiful high res screen. Maybe Netflix for android? That would be a nice inclusion at launch.

Well thats kinda TMO’s opinion. One could say that the G2x is equally as “powerful”. Also it probably will be the “most powerful handset” at it’s time of release. The SGS2 could literally be right behind it.

I wonder what the battery life is on this phone and if it will be a gingerbread phone or honeycomb phone. I have a Vibrant and I can deal with the UI but the battery life on the Vibrant is killing me.

    • Anonymous

On every phone that has ever debuted or been announced there’s posts asking “I wonder what battery life will be?” As I have said since 2006 (with the introduction of the BlackBerry Pearl in Sept 2006), battery life on all smartphones sucks. End of story. Deal with it.

Fact is, if a manufacturer could come out with a long-lasting smartphone battery it would have debuted by now and the company would be trumpeting this as a major new feature. Current technology does not have a small, cost-effective battery that can last longer than about 8 to 12 hours before showing “E” on the gauge.

And that’s the trouble, isn’t it. Users want great battery life, the ability to use all battery draining features at once, in a small form factor, and not have to worry about all that power saving setting nonsense.

As far as your Vibrant, or any smartphone for that matter, make sure to use power-saving features. The feature that quickly drains the battery is the display. If you don’t need full brightness, then don’t have the phone set to use that. Also have the display set to time off after two minutes.

Tests have shown that leaving WiFi, BlueTooth, GPS or other hardware on will drain a battery faster than a water filled pail shot with double odd buck. Regardless, people don’t turn off features they are not using.

And while people love haptic feedback when pressing keys, or the phone set to vibrate on calls and message notifications, users don’t realize that what creates the vibration is a little electric motor with a counter-weight rapidly spinning. (Contrary to popular belief, there’s not a little Droid guy tapping on the side of your phone case with a miniature hammer.) A motor will quickly drain a battery, especially the small battery used in smartphones.

      • PWSC

Battery life is so not an issue for me. I geocache with my android device and it noms through the battery like me eating chicken cheesesteak. So I just carry 2-3 spare batteries with me when I’m doing intensive things, and 1 spare battery while at work. They’re small and it doesn’t take a lot of effort to pop one out and put a new one in.

+1 on your post BTW, lots of practical info (I’m totally pissed the Droid guy is not inside my phone now)

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TWZYRT3V27PEFL22CKGP73RXWI gray

Battery is actually one hour better than the G2x. I read it will last 8+ hours. That’s not bad considering the thunderbolt lasts 6 hours

In eight days I was going to take the plunge and begin a relationship with my new love. She’s Pure; that’s what drew me to her. She wasn’t trashed up to differentiate herself like so many others. We were made for each other, you know? I was going to be so happy. Then Fate intervened to ensure that never happens. The wind blew. I looked up and there she was; the mysterious beauty previously known only as Pyramid. She announced herself. Sensation. Sensation indeed. She said she was going to corrupt me and steal my dreams. She was right. In that instant the perfect relationship with my new love began to falter. We haven’t even met yet and it’s already crumbling apart. Sure, we’ll give it a go. But I know – deep in my heart, I know – it won’t last. The beauty with the qHD has begun to infiltrate my desires. Yeah, she’s trashed up, but not like the others – she’s sexy. I will have her. We’ll pretend there’s no spark, but it’ll happen. Before you know it I’ll have dropped my new love for the qHD beauty named Sensation. I’m sorry G2x, I am. We could have been so happy together. But the wind blew.

Very well said. I now imagine dancing with me lady.

T-Mobile has the Google Nexus S and very soon two powerhouse devices……the LG G2X and the newly announce HTC Sensation ……………. both devices are dual core phones……. one with stock android and the other with Sense UI…..both with 1080p video recording, front camera….. G2X with Android 2.2 and the SENSATION with Gingerbread android 2.3.3

  • Anonymous

    That’s a quite interesting look.

Does anyone else agree that this looks like a Samsung phone? This appears a departure from HTC’s typical form factor and design, such as the HD2, EVO, and Thunderbolt.

    • Zifnab2k

Not really. It has a likeness to the Nexus One, the gray strip one the back is just at an angle instead of straight across. Has 2 LEDs on the back instead of 1, and no track ball on the front. But otherwise the curves, and especially the materials and texture of the phone is in line with the Nexus One design.

    • Anonymous

looks like every other Htc phone…

  • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

1 thing I kinda hate is no one gets like an exclusive phone/device. At this point in the cellular world everyone is getting a variant of everything. So, it’s no real advantage except for the carrier differences & services. Ex: T-Mobile’s G2 is basically a HTC EVO 4G Shift on Sprint, Samsung Galaxy S line period, This HTC Sensation is basically the HTC EVO 3G on Sprint. The Nexus S is going to Spring on their 4G. The only real exclusive we do have is the Sidekick, & as much as I love the Sidekick when you compare it with what’s out & what’s coming out now, it’s not really that desirable anymore. Maybe in mid 2010, but now, ehh…

    • ItDoesntMatterWhatYouThink

      @DtheArtist,

Explain how the EVO Shift is like the G2? The G2, MyTouch4G and Galaxy S 4G are all TMOs current exclusive phones. are u comparing designs? specs?

      • ItDoesntMatterWhatYouThink

        .cont

the G2 is stock android , the EVO Shift is not. Currently TMO is the only carrier that offer stock android devices. If i am not mistaken?!

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

That was a really lacking argument on your side.. DtheArtist is correct about the similar designs they are basically the same.. except I disagree about the Evo and Sensation.. an Evo-HD2 comparison is more correct.. the main difference being the software.. and the specs are nearly the same the Evo Shift has the same processor at the same clock with a slightly fatter design but basically the same.

      • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

Yes, design. I didn’t say anything about the specs while you’re getting all bent out of shape with the exclamation mark. It’s clear I’m team T-Mobile, calm down. Could you have asked the question 1st before jumping the gun? Maybe the statement came off a bit messy & unclear, but cool your jets.

    • http://www.facebook.com/iamm0ses Nick Kane

Meh the Sensation is a bit different. No 3d and a larger camera. I’d take the Sensation over the Evo 3d simply because those stereoscopic 3d screens are eyerape

Well if this debuts in June, it will be as some of us have predicted, T-Mobile likes to debut phones in June, July or August (an August debut being the tail end of summer phones).

Got to admit, if I stay with T-Mobile (doubtful) I would have a hard time choosing between the Samsung Galaxy S2 or this phone.

Did anyone post this? If so, sorry for the double post:

I sold my Vibrant and HD2 so to get one of these hot superphones. I blew the dust off my G1 to mark time. It’s harsh, especially after using a vibrant Vibrant and HD2 4.3″ display (with FroYo).

I’m thinking the HTC is the better way to go since it has a traditional mini HDMI port. The Samsung Galaxy S2 will have some type of video out port, but it won’t be a mini HDMI.

    http://www.phonearena.com/image.php?m=Articles.Images&f=name&id=39671&name=HTC_Sensation_Hands-On_012.jpg&caption=&title=Image+from+%22HTC+Sensation+Hands-on%22&kw=android&popup=1

Sidenote: Sold the HD2 with Android 2.2 on it for $340. So the Vibrant and HD2 selling prices work out to paying $17 monthly to “rent” hottest T-Mobile phones. (This in response to someone in here who said only dumbasses pay T-Mobile full retail for phones ;)

    • tmofan2006

where did u sell your phones im tryna sell my mytouch 4g and hd2(froyo)

      • Anonymous

On eBay. The HD2 sold in 18 hours, on a Buy It Now.

I posted tips on how to sell phones, but the key is that it has to be in good shape, the display area flawless and it helps to have the original box.

I take care of my phones and keep all the original packaging with the intent of selling the phones on eBay.

        • tmofan2006

i have my box for my mytouch 4g and everything brand new and my hd2 is actually brand new but just dont have the box

  • Your Wifes favorite Plumber

    Coming from a HD7 owner-
Not really a huge android fan but for this phone I am willing to give it a try lol Looks pretty sweet…..

  • rev2redlineguy

Heck yeah! This is going to be my next phone this summer. At first I wanted to get the LG G2x but after seeing this it’s HTC all the way!!!!! I’m super excited about this phone and can’t wait till summer to get my hands on it. Way to go T-Mobile!

  • Anonymous

For all the people that can’t decide between GSII and sensation, let me tell you, I am on the vibrant now, and I can’t wait to say goodbye to the lag and GPS non locking issue. Not saying that the GSII will have the same problems, but it ticked me off so much that as soon I see the Samsung logo now I want to stab myself in the eyeballs.

    • Anonymous

The Galaxy S 4G is Dead on accurate… But I also suffered through the Vibrant GPS issue…

    • Crazythunder1968

      ouch

    • Anonymous

Jeez, I guess I’m in the minority here because I’m still enjoying my Vibrant. Even on stock, I never had issues with my gps. Hell, even after I started to flash custom ROMS on this baby, the gps got even better: went from 10 birds to like 13 on avg now.

    • CactusCat

Another VERY HAPPY minority Vibrant user here. I got tired of the problems and since I’m capable, I fixed the gps issue myself plus the update problem by installing an amazing ROM. Now I score about 1600 Quadrant on my Vibrant, no lag, the best screen still over everything else available. But I won’t make a decision as to which phone to get until I actually try all 3 phones out. LG, HTC or Samsung. We’ll see…. Bionix 1.3.1 FTW

  • Anonymous

Yeah I’m diggin this phone. I like the specs of the G2x but man, that G2x is one ugly phone, especially the back of it, and that dumb metal looking thing they have going down the middle and the back cover color, YUCK! I’m looking forward to seeing what the “new” Sense will entail, and Gingerbread for phones will look like. I think the Sensation will be a huge winner for TMO. I’m excited.

    • quike1190

agree! i wanted to get the G2X but now tht this is for SURE coming our way i will gladly wait!

P.S tht metal thing on the back its the ugliest part of the phone lol

  • Trollhater

Good lord this phone is beautiful. This is gonna be one hot summer. Thank you T-Mobile. Thank you HTC.

  • http://cosmicbreeze.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

It’s funny how before we used to argue over what T-Mobile didn’t have. Now we’re arguing over all the options T-Mobile has.

    • Anonymous

LOL… When looking for news about this phone I happened on an AT&T site that said “T-Mobile gets all the good phones.”

      • http://tmonews.com David

        What site was that Michael?

        • Anonymous

I will try to remember where it was. Backtracking a day of net activity is near impossible.

lmfao. Guess that’s why AT&T wants us. Everything they never had

FYI, the Facebook Page for the HTC Sensation 4G with frequent updates from across the Web, videos, etc. is at:

    http://facebook.com/htcdoubleshot

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Simon-Yu/100000989859895 Simon Yu

There’s almost no comparison with G2x vs the Pyramid in terms of pure specs on the hardware side.. except maybe the Tegra 2 being slightly better; and HDMI (I think?).. but now that it really is coming to T mobile… who can hold out for 2 more months? if not more? I hate my Cliq -_-

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/LBDY7YEMNBJT2GEJHHCW6VRYHY daniel

Wait, Tegra has nothing on Adreno 220, just look at my link above, also LG might not bring you Android updates as frequent as HTC, which has done better then most brands (eyes Samsung) Sensation will make G2x look like well… G2 vs MyTouch 4G but even worse.

  • Anonymous

Only 1GB internal memory? Damn the MT4G has 4 (even though only 1GB is usable) and the LG2X has 8GB (5.4 GB usable). It also states it is only 14.4Mbps- download http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/12/htc-sensation-4g-official-1-2ghz-dual-core-qhd-display-and-th/

1.2GHz scorpion dual-core is ok but what is the confirmed graphics processor? Adreno 220 is the last I heard for these processors- http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/73-analysis-of-qualcomm-msm8x60-msm8260msm8660-12ghz-dual-core-snapdragon-processor/

Remember that the graphics processor also has to push more pixels due to the Qhd resolution of 540×960 and the 4.3″ screen as opposed to a 4.3″ or 4″ 480×800 (such as the LG2X). We also do not know how smooth the Sense 3.0 will run and how much difference it will make (via benchmarks or everyday use) over stock gingerbread (which will come to the LG2X soon after launch or at least by the time this phone is released, hopefully).

Also the back of this is uglier than the MT4G and has 3 different colors! http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-sensation-4g-hands-on-1/#4044979

Still going to snag the LG2X on Friday though. ARM Cortex A8 processor in this vs ARM Cortex A9 processor in LG2X is an easy call as .2GHz more on an A8 isn’t going to sway me. Stock Android means easier updates so that’s a plus as well. The Sensation is still a very capable phone as the Galaxy S2 will be but nothing puts those two over the top for me and the G2X is here now so that’s my next phone. Love HTC phones but they lost me on this one. Maybe a pure Nexus phone by HTC with the quad-core Tegra will bring me back, although rumors are hinting that LG will have the next Nexus phone with the quad-core Tegra in it http://androidandme.com/2011/04/news/an-lg-nexus-3-heres-what-we-know/

So for now, bring on the LG2X in about 54 hours (as I’ll order it online)!!!

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/LBDY7YEMNBJT2GEJHHCW6VRYHY daniel

Qualcomm’s A8 is unique, as it is in house designed, for one thing, it is semi out of order design vs the A8 of every other ARM maker, which uses A8 in it’s designed In order processing, it does some other neat tricks, but what is really impressive here is the Adreno 220, which again doubles the Prior Adreno graphics (205 in the mytouch 4G and G2) http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2011/03/31/first-adreno-220-benchmarks-show-that-it-is-a-beast/

You also have to remember that HTC is likely to push updates of Android onto these phones rather than just make you buy a new one, you’ll see 2.4 on it around the same time or before any other current/summer phone on the market (if they even get the update)

The 1.2Ghz snapdragon dual core found in this phone won’t be out of date even when they launch the 1.5ghz based on the same design later this year. This is a good purchase to any phone owner, especially to my G1, Skipping a tech gen just for this, and I’m not disappointed, even Sense 3.0 looks nice.

  • TrollSeason

Ok I like this one. Loving the 8mp camera and 1080p HD video recording too. The Sensation is WITHOUT A DOUBT waaayyy better than the GLAAD/Perez Hilton looking Sidekick 4G and that AWFUL Gay2… oops, i mean “G2″. BUT… I’m still rolling with the phone of the year… the XPERIA PLAY!! I still might cop this one too just to say I GOT IT TOO.
