T-Mobile’s HTC HD2, Better Than The Original

HTCHD2_Compare_TmoNews_wm

First, reread the title… no, you are not crazy and neither am I.  For once (or so it seems) a US bound headset is actually going to be better than that of it’s brother from across the pond.  In this case, we are talking about the HTC HD2.  The T-Mobile bound version will be getting a nice jump in ROM (from 512 MB to 1 GB), a jump in RAM (from 448 MB to 576 MB) and will come with a 16GB microSD card, all powered by that wonderful 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.  So yes, it does sound like this will be fast.  As a side note, it should also be mentioned that the T-Mobile USA version may be the only one to get Windows Mobile 7.0, or just Seven (depending on what Microsoft calls it).  If Windows Mobile were my thing, I would be all over it, I guess I could make an exception for this HTC Sense laden, monster piece of hardware.  Larger image after the break and leave your thoughts in the comments!

Thanks to WMPoweruser as well

YESSS, so many great choices/options this year.

  • TehAndroid

Sweet mother of god!!! This phone could very well bring me back to windows mobile. Also the videos of it running a playstation 1 emulator is enticing as well.

  • jam

dropping android for this, i will eventually be back though

  • Galen20K

    OOOOOOOOOOOOO MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

  • Duck Dodgers

Memmm, me want. The only thing I don’t like about this phone is no physical keyboard, but even without it I think it will be still usable with the virtual keyboard on that 4.3″ screen. This thing going to be a monster.

  • ZX

Omg dis phone could possibly be the best phone t mobile ever had…and Im soooooo getting dis but I feel it might be a lil expensive grrr

  • Vyse

What are the odds of the XDA guys getting Android on this thing?

Actually the iPhone exclusivity deal is supposed to end Wednesday so it may be sold Unlocked by apple themselves very soon!

      • Mockerfab4

Really? So will Apple make a big announcement on where the iPhone is heading. Oh gawd, I hope they unlock it for Tmo. It will be hard for me to pick which one I want more, the iPhone or the HD2. Uggghh….

  • edfungus

Btw another difference I see is that the call and end buttons are colored…
Not that is would matter that much.

T-Mobile myTouch Slide to end all Sidekick sales?

We’ve been briefed on what appears to be T-Mobile’s game plan regarding Sidekick devices.

The information comes from a new tipster so we haven’t independently confirmed it. With that said, we have been told that with the rumored T-Mobile myTouch Slide coming up, T-Mobile will slowly be phasing out all Sidekick sales. Whether this means the Sidekick line will permanently disappear remains to be seen, but we wouldn’t put past Danger/Microsoft to replace them with the infamous ”Project Pink” devices.

I don’t think I have ever been this excited about a WM phone ever (even though I’ve been using WM phones for a VERY long time now). If this thing had a keyboard I would be all over it like white on rice. I am super enticed to buy this phone when it comes out though (even without a keyboard) but I think I’ll have to see some video reviews about it and see the keyboard and play with the phone…

All in all, I think 2010 may be a good year for T-Mobile (phones wise) and hope it is coverage wise as well!

  • Ernie

I LOVE IT!!!! SO HAPPY THE TMO IS GETTING IT!

IVE BEEN HOLDING OUT FOR IT SINCE I HEARD ABOUT IT BACK IN OCTOBER!

    RELEASE DATE GET HERE FASTER!!!!!

    • dboy

      lol!!!

  • thom

When is this thing releasing? I can’t wait. I want it now. I will give uo my android for it.

  • smackiesfunkies

holy hell! this thing is bad!
and ive never liked windows mobile but this could very well be my first WM device
specially with all the android ports to other phones floating around (some already being WM devices) its only a matter of time before this baby is running android
    im in!

  • Matt

This is one great phone! But not good enough to make me leave my android phone… (Motorola Droid)… i love my Motorola Droid, and would recommend it to anyone… and you get use to the keyboard fast!

  • mkd718

Finally tmo has listened to us customers and didnt down grade the phone and leaving us gelous of the overseas version. Looks like tmo might leave sprint behind in number 4 And making att and verizon paranoid this year. So many choices for phones its unbelievable compared to what we had in 2008

    • Galen20K

      Word!

  • miggedy

But, how much will this cost. My guess is 399 with a two year contract

  • Galen20K

And so begins the “REAL” Project Black agenda! ; D

    • kershon

Hahahahahahahah. You are soooo right, brother. #1 carrier in USA=T-Mobile!

  • kershon

I am really really excited now! Better specs than I could have dreamed of. I haven’t had much exprience with touch screen devices, always preferring a dedicated keyboard. I just gotta get this phone! I can see me not long from now putting my bold 9700 on ebay. This phone WILL be mine! Does anybody have any word on pricing yet, rumors or otherwise? Holy shit! Come to papa.

  • pecoy

Goodbye G1and android ….welcome back HD2 and winmo (I thought I would never say that)

But with tmo not offering a true succesor for the G1 anytime soon then I’m back to winmo and sense…skyfire browser, sling player, 4.3 capacitive, snapdragon, 16gb sd card…

Now price and release date please.

  • Ernie

RELEASE DATE!!!??? ANYONE!?? I DONT WANT TO HEAR SPRING I WANT A DATE!!!

    • Galen20K

I think its March 20th. Who knows tho, they could easily change it.

  • http://green.thefuntimesguide.com Jeffrey

    winmo=booooo!

    • Peter

      Jeffery Comment = Lame!

  • CantAffordACamcorder

…so uh, no 720p recording for God’s phone?

oh well, cant wait for March…

  • Derrick

I just hope Windows doesn’t drop the ball with 7. This phone is absolutely amazing! I’ve been watching vids of it since it went to Europe. Now they actually upgrade the specs for a US version!!! I don’t need a phone to do much, it just has to work properly. Nothing angers me more than frozen screens, glitches, viruses and applications not working. Microsoft, get your head out of your arse and make sure Windows Mob 7 is up to the challenge! I will be getting this phone as soon as it is available for pre order. 4.3 inches of beauty, and all that under the hood….too good to be true!!!

  • LuckyStar

As pricing will go my best guess would be between $349.99 and $399.99 wit a two year contract I know that sounds a little high, but remember how much the Touch Pro 2 cost right before T-mo slashed the price down to $269.99. Now think about it for a second there Touch Pro 2 see a price cut just to make room for this beast as the most expensive phone on the menu and can somebody tell me why Windows Mobile phones are always so danm expensive compared the competition.

  • Rhino

THis Monster of a phone could bring me back to Windows since the MDA days ezpecially since I cant afford $600 for a Nexus 1 Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….

    • da9th_one

if you cant afford a nexus one, you can forget about the hd2…besides you can purchase it on a 24 month plan, right…???

  • dsim91

When I first saw the new specs I thought winmo 7 all the way I bet that microsoft pulls a fast one I know all the reports say late 2010 but my money is winmo7 on the HD2 this spring

  • mmeyer4663

That information is all posted oh HTC’s US website!!!!!!!!!!!!
    http://www.htc.com/us/products/t-mobile-hd2?view=0-12&sort=0

It must be getting very, very close! Maybe before March???????

  • casey

    battery 1230 mah….oh

    • Twitch110

That good or bad? I really don’t know.

  • Bigg

Oh yea, this is the one phone I will sign my contract for.

  • dboy

cant wait for it!!!!! lol !!! already saving money dont care how much it costs!!!!

  • khan

looks like 2010 is a great year for T-Mobile.
i can’t wait for this fone to come out

  • Wilma Flintstone

Man, this is TOO Much to choose from!!! I’m going to have to really think on this. Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a MUST. I Will be getting that game on Tuesday Morning!!! Wii FTW!!! Anyway, But other than that, If TMobile gets the Motorola Shadow, I’ll be getting that, otherwise, I’ll be thinking of either this or the X10. Touch Decisions. I would think of the Motoroi but I’m not into the “hip” design.

  • JT

    Well,
I have to come back to T-mobile now, I left about year ago after waiting for good WM phone on 3G. This is awesome news, I was looking for a Telstra HD2 from which works on ATT 3G on ebay. I’m sure I’ll save some bucks with T-mobile and maybe maybe get faster 3G. So far I haven’t seen any difference in ATT and T-Mobile 3G speed in out area.
T-Mobile has a good shot at passing Sprint if they keep offering this kind of line up to choose from.

    • Galen20K

Exactly, Number 3 spot here we come EASILY! Maybe next year Number 2 if we gain as many subscribers as I think we will this year.

Its quite possible at the rate we’re going guys!

  • Spence

Come on HTC!!!! The bestiest phone ever and you have to give it windows mobile! I’ll stick with my amazing Nexus One

    • efjay

I am so looking forward to WM7 serving up some sweet humble pie for all these WM haters!! Sorry, no spyware phone for me!

    • Peter

Yes Please stick with your Nexus One. We don’t need anybody like you in Windows Mobile Community. Thank you!

      • Mockerfab4

Thank god it’s WM! Androd for me was an epic fail.

  • Todd

HTC Hd2 owns all…..including the Nexus Done.

  • AJACDC

just switched from flex pay to post paid and was super easy. …some lady next to me was trying to do the same but was denied. ..she was mad they told her only certain flexpay customers were eligible. ..hope the benefits are better

  • ahnimal

does this phone have more than one window at the desktop like the anroid which have 3 or 5

    • Peter

Actually Windows Mobile for many years does everything Android does plus many more features and things that Android can’t even come close to those features.

      • Mockerfab4

Yes, like the basics – Microsoft Activesync! Every “smart” phone has Activesync out of the box, but Android has an app for that, if you fork $20! Ugg…no thanks!

  • pac10dawgs

I like my Mytouch and have been a fan of Android, but this phone is going to make me switch to WinMo. Oh my! I gotta have it!

  • nutzareus

It’s amazing the number of Windows Mobile bashers that scattered like rats and resurfaced as bandwagon fans. You know who you are! LOL!

  • dennis petrospour

WM no thanks. Nexus one ftw

  • T.P.

I wonder if X-box live will become an available app for windows 7

    • efjay

Something that will hopefully be exclusive to WM. Lets see the almighty spydroid do that!

  • Cdasmartphoneman

I have the outdated G1 and I’m abpout to get a new smartphone for my bday and I’m try to decide on a new phone to get.I want to get an android because of their open source but, this phone just may make me switch to WM to get that gigantic 4.3 inch screen, fast processer, multi touch and sleek design. Windows Mobile doesn’t have a good past but, maybe it deserves a second chance. This may be my next phone or,I might get the nexus one or wait for the experia x10. HMM,big choice.

  • bp

Interesting upgrades, but…. will it have 2100 WCDMA band for EU/JP 3G roaming when travelling, or is it just a dumbed-down, land-locked US-only 3G device?

  • Chris Clark

I am loving mine. I have one of the imports and its the best decision I have made on a cell phone! Wouldn’t change it for anything! 100% glad I got it. I don’t really see anyone being dissatisfied with it. Virtual keyboard is so much easier with Swype. Cake walk indeed!

    • Mockerfab4

Jealous! I was wondering have you ever had an iPhone? If so, Is this keyboard on the HD2 comparable to the one on the iPhone?

Can’t wait for this phone to come to the US!!! Hurry TMO! :)

  • Chris Clark

Mocker…its alot faster. And the touch is very easy to hit each letter without problems, can turn it either way, portrait or landscape, and you can select what keyboard you use within the settings. Swype you can use with one hand, or one finger.

  • Cybersedan

This phone is shaping up to be a smash hit, even if it’s running WinMo, while I’m not a WinMo fan, I’m not a basher either, I will give it a chance.

The 4.3inch screen combined with all the other specs make this a must have in my book.
