Does T-Mobile Have More Up Its Sleeve?

t-mobile-headquarters-bonn1

Good afternoon TmoNews minions readers! There has been a lot going on in Magenta’s world in the past few weeks, and it looks like the news just keeps on coming. Yesterday we received quite a few emails from our sources stating that a new Android device was in the works, codenamed the MyTouch Slide/MyTouch 2. Our sources pegged the device for a May 17th release. Today another one of our trusty ninjas has hit us up claiming that T-Mobile has more up its sleeve. T-Mobile is rumored to be releasing another Motorola Android device (Sholes Tablet?) on March 10th. Our source also claims that on March 17th, T-Mobile will be releasing a Nokia Smartphone (N900 anyone?). Sony Ericsson lovers if the original Equinox color didn’t appeal to you, you can pick up the Equinox January 20th in the shade of Ocean Blue. Our sources are also stating that the Samsung T139 will be hitting the shelves February 3rd. Hooray! First in line for this one!

As always all these dates are super tentative and subject to change.

Stay tuned and leave your thoughts and hopes in the comments!

Hi Not for Nothing, but do you think you can hit up your sources and or Trusty Ninjas for an E.T.A. or better yet a Release Date on the HTC HD2 (LEO) that’s already confirmed. Hooray! First in line for this one!

    • JB6464

^+1 And the price subsudized and to buy the HD2 out-right.

    • Chgo26

      +2

This is what I’m trying to patiently wait for. I think I’ve watched all of the YouTube I possibly can to keep me busy. But yeah, an update on the HD2 would be much appreciated. My desire for this thing is a sickness. lol

      • JT

        +3
I’m trying to hold on and not get HD2 from UK. I haven’t bought a phone from US provider in last 5 years and HD2 could change that if they release it before April.

  • edfungus

    yay for new phones! :D
    i just can’t decided XD

    • Will

I suggest to wait years end to see all the phones pile up. So at the end of the year you don’t get mad at yourself for not waiting. That’s what I’m doing I have a Rooted G1 with HTC Sense UI and at years end i’ll probably sit down one day and look at all the phone specs and decide which to pick. I’m going to feel like Lebron James at the end of the year getting all these contracts and looking at the benefits every team has to offer.

      • ItsMichaelNotMike

Wait until the end of 2010? Ha ha… by that time I will be selling the HD2 and getting something else, assuming the HD2 debuts in April.

I bought the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 in August and am putting it up on eBay this week. LOL.

But you can wait (and maybe look on eBay for my discards.)

Mytouch slide? Sounds very appealing seeing as I didn’t like the original I like my physical qwerty hopefully that’s what the slide out will be? Thanks for the great info really looking forward to seeing what’s up with the new moto release!

  • Galen20K

Excellent News, lets keep it coming! loving all the variety of quality also.

  • David

Just got off the phone with Tmo, needed to setup my visual voicemail on my Behold II(I love this phone :P ) And I took the time to ask if the rep knew of any Android updates. He read off an email he got today from up top that Tmo is working with Google on providing an update to the Cliq, Behold II, myTouch(not sure if he said G1). Maybe ask your sources if they have a copy of said email.

    • jkspike3

come on 2.1 for the cliq

      • David

        Soon my friend, soon!

  • Viper

N900? Oh joy… I’d rather walk into a Tmo store down the corner and buy it full retail there than go through Newegg and Amazon. Depending on what they add to the OS [if anything] in the way of T-Mobile customizations. Knowing Nokia’s stance, they probably wouldn’t add anything, but still…

    C’mon N900!

    • kilari

For some reason I lost my interest. When the N900 was leaked I was super excited about it being a 3.5″ screen like the iphone. But then it didn’t get subsidized by Tmo. If it finally did get on the list now it’s already old news. Now that the 3.7″ Droid, and Nexus One are out, and the 4.3″ HD2 is out the big screened appeal has been bested. Nokia really has got to schmooze all the US carriers. This is bonkers how they don’t have any good handsets on any carriers line ups. Also with all the talk in the replies that will be a 5500 or 5300 Xpressmusic that would also be a let down insted of it being the X6. For some reason I really have a crush on the X6 even tho I’ve never seen it or used S60. Either way sure, add the N900, but get a Tmo banded X6 and X3 on that line up NAO!

  • jonshipman

I just picked up an N900 and love it! If T-Mobile offers this beast on a subsidy soon then that is a pretty compelling move :D

  • James Engerlou

The nokia smartphone will not be the n900, it will be a regular xpressMusic touch screen phone nothing flashy or good about it. This is according to the regional Nokia rep that happens to be a close friend.

  • Alt-mobile

Wow this is great news..cant wait to find out more about this mytouch slide…will it have a bigger screen? Android 2.1? Snapdragon? I’ve been a wm guy for years but am considering switching to android..

Just wish it would come out before May

Also very interested to see this new motorola device..will it be full touchscreen or have a keyboard? Will this phone also run motoblur or have 2.1 on it instead? Maybe a faster and sleeker looking droid for tmo?

No doubt 2010 should be an interesting year for tmo. Hopefully they dont disappoint and come out with great phones and up their coverage so that these phones can be used to their full potential

    • john

kudos, great to see someone who is considering broadening their view on smartphones, I started with the G1, then got a mytouch, got a cliq, considered the nexus, but considering trying the hd2.

      • http://www.i-appreciate.org alt-mobile

It’s funny how I’ve jumped around with phones. I had the Sony P910a and it was amazing (I mean for the time it was a SUPER phone…now it’s kind of funny as I look back at it). From there, I went to a MDA. That was my baby for a LONG time. Then I went to the Dash. Then the Wing. Now I have a Palm Treo Pro that runs Windows Mobile. I got it unlocked and it actually is quite fast but I wish I was able to do a little bit more with Windows. Plus, I’m itching for a new phone so that I can use the 3G that T-Mobile has (I hope they step up coverage though). So now I’m looking towards Android and am considering a device. I was going to get the G1 but when I saw leaked photos I wasn’t impressed. I want to make sure that the next phone I buy is worth it because I’m going to be dishing out anywhere from 3-500 dollars for it…

      • john

I never got the reason that the g1 had to get Jay Leno’s chin myself, but after rooting it all was forgiven.

  • damien

It is not the N900 just talkd to our Nokia rep, he did say that it will be a touchscreen phone. (I was thinking the 5320, or something like that). We are not getting the N900. he did metion something for June concerning the E series

  • Nuggety

Word from the motorola reps is its going to be the motorola tablet they are releasing in china first.

  • J-Hop2o6

Great info.. now i gotta update the Upcoming Phones list soon

  • kershon

I talked to T-Mo tech support a while ago and I read this post to her. She said that this is pretty much spot on. Also she thought that T-Mobile would quite possibly be taking over the Nexus One since they are already troubleshooting it.

    • J-Hop2o6

o0o i like the sound of this comment =)

  • mu$h da great

    damn……no n900?

  • FILA

damn, im gettin excited all over again. Some very excitign things in the next coming months. N900 possibly, holy shit, and the MyTouch Slide, god its a toss up to what phone. I love NOKIA but without Android nowaday for me I’ll die. I cant wait till May now!!!!! But for the time being I just cant wait till some leaks of these phones

    • 2FR35H

I bet the nokia is going to have android on it I mean come on they need to get in the game too LG already got there

      • Crackberry addict

Nokia spent millions of dollar on Symbian OS. i don’t think they will get Android anytime soon.

  • NEXUS ONE USER

How long will I keep this nexus 1??????

  • JBLmobileG1

NEXUS ONE USER… my guess is two years unless you paid in full or you plan on selling your phone and getting another with the money you make. All in all I have a G1 and I am very interested in this possible MyTouch 2 with a keyboard. As much as I want a Nexus One… I still don’t quite know if its worth giving up a physical keyboard just yet (I love my game emulators and a touch screen just doesn’t work). Hopefully this Mytouch 2 will have a keyboard like the G1′s with plenty of onboard ram like the Nexus One and a 1Ghz processor also like the Nexus One. Oh…. and a 3.5mm jack. If Tmobile can bring this and Google can finally figure away to run apps from an sd card on Android I would be set. Also hopefully by this time we will have flash on Android. I think then we’d have the perfect phone. We would also need a good battery so we wouldn’t have to charge every night (how about every other day?) If they could pull this off and sell it with a contract for under $200 I’d be one happy customer.

    • NEXUS ONE USER

I bought this puppy unlocked, I couldn’t give up my 1000 min plan, pluse I sold my touch pro 2 so i only paid like $175 for this beast. I can’t wait to see if I’ll like the HD2 or Sholes or whatever else is coming down the t-mobile pipeline

  • isthatajoke

N900 T-Mobile and Nokia Don’t Pass This Up….Nokia and T-Mobile Would be idiots to pass that deal up Mameo Open Source To the Max and more open then android T mobile and nokia would get some more adopters and keep some old ones with such a variety of phones and operating systems.Plus It would build the hype for Nokia to get them selfs on top of the game in the US. and it would Set up nicely for Mameo 6 and If They were smart Nokia would let you update to mameo 6 for free with the N900…..Nokia and T-Mobile better stop messing around they better get that phone and the next mameo phone it already supports there network bands that deal should be easy as pie nokia or t mobile stop being cheap or dumb and just get the phone

  • Tmo Rep

Yeah James has it right. The nokia smartphone is def not the N900. It is the 5530, a touch screen xpress music phone…nothing to write home about. However in June Tmo will get an E ‘series Nokia.

  • khan

Hi can someone tell me what the samsung T139 is

    • john

      Another flip phone.

  • rushmore

N900 is NOT coming to Tmo US. A lot of “new” phone rumors, but still not Nexus or Droid level device WITH a physical keyboard.

  • Sgt. Cell

As many others have asked HD2, when and how much?

  • http://www.i-appreciate.org alt-mobile

If the Motorola tablet that you guys are talking about is the Sholes, that pretty much is the Droid on Verizon with an HDMI port and a 8 MP camera with a xenon flash right?

    • Kickstar13

The Sholes Tablet is rumored to pack a 550MHz OMAP TI 3430 processor (identical to that of the Motorola Droid’s), a 3.7? touch screen, 800 x 480 resolution, HDMI port, 3.5mm headset jack, UMTS/HSPA, and an  8 megapixel camera with  xenon flash.

So yeah if those rumored specs are correct, it’s basically T-Mobile’s Version of the Motorola Droid.

      • andrew

        is that processer fast

        • Andrew

that processor isn’t as fast as the one on the Nexus One, but it handles Android perfectly fine. The 550 MHz processor makes it smooth and is more than capable to last the next couple of years ( if you are worried about longevity).

      • http://www.i-appreciate.org alt-mobile

I’ve used my friend’s Droid and it’s pretty fast. But my Lord if they put a Snapdragon processor in that phone along with a 16 GB pre-loaded with programs SD card

*drooL* I think that would definitely be an ultimate phone…

all in all I’m excited to see what new phones (Windows and Android based) T-Mobile is bringing to us in the next few months.

    • rushmore

No Droid if no keyboard. Droid is better because of it. Droid tablet is simply Droid minus the keyboard that most G1 users and others want (a keyboard).

  • andrew

lame that all needs hd2 android motorola backflip htc ui phone or dell android acer android or get with palm step your game up tmobile

    • john

Ummm…, coherent thought in there somewhere? Someone translate to english when you get the chance…

  • NEXUS ONE USER

I don’t think I could ever go back to a phone with no snapdragon processor. This thing is lighting fast. The processes that took minutes on the g1 take seconds on this thing. Does the tegra chip set have the same specs?

  • Spike

By the way, the N900, unlocked, is $530… same price as Nexus One!

  • ELOVEN

GUYS MARK MY WORD IT WILL BE NOKIA N920 , ITS EXACT NOKIA N900 BUT WITHOUT KEYBOARD AND THEY WILL FIX THOSE BUGS WHICH IT HAVE ON N900 AND THEY WILL FLASH IT ON N920 . AND FOR NOKIA X5 I WONT PAY A PENNY BECAUSE THE QUALITY OF THE PHONE IS SO CHEAP. AND PLEASE NO MORE MOTOROLA BRAND PLEASE BECAUSE I RATHER USE MY 10 YEAR OLD NOKIA PHONE ANY NEW RELEASE MOTOROLA PHONES. AT THIS AGE OF TIME AND IN NEXET COUPLE OF YEARS I KNOW %100 ALL PHONES WILL BE TOUCH SCREEN (FOR SURE IN EUROPE) . AND MY MOST HATED PHONE IS MOTOROLA RAZR V3 , GOD YOU GUYS DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I HATE THAT RAZR MOTO PHONE AND WHEN THEY RELEASE THAT SLIM JUNK PHONE AND PEOPLE JUST ATTACK TO TMOBILE STORE TO BUY THAT CRAPPY PHONE I WAS JUST ASKING MYSELF ARE PEOPLE BLIND TO BUY THAT PHONE , ANY IT WAS MY OPINION THE MOSY UGLIEST AND DARKEST AND HATED PHONE WAS MOTOTROLA RAZR PHONE FOR ME.
    THANK YOU GUYS

  • Bigg

No N900 huh, thats too bad tmobile, and suck for ppl who want it on a subsidize pricing. The web browsing on it is amazing. I am excited for and e series nokia though, e72 that is.

  • http://none billy v

YOU ARE A TOTAL RETARDED CRACK HEAD if you like the look of the HTC ESPRESSO(mytouch 2). NO ONE LIKES the G1…. its BULKY, UGLY and the slide keyboard feature is a dousche bag decision… Why does the IPHONE do so well????? BECAUSE its effecient, HOT looking, great design, and NO FUC%ing slide keyboard….

I AM SO TIRED OF THESE UGLY SLIDE PHONES…. the G3 (Espresso) should be hot and TOUCH ONLY screen….. THE nexus ONE is a bad ass little phone as long as they fix the 3g function… ITS HOT looking and its quick!! thats what users want.. no one (in reality) likes the full QWERTY keyboard…. THIS NEW PHONE BETTER NOT HAVE A SLIDE QWERTY Keyboard, or im going to be so irrate, ….. i dont even know what ill do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Erin

I hate them too. I had a G1 it WAS bulky and ugly. I like my Mytouch much better, it’s really not hard to use the on screen keyboard.

    • Wilma Flintstone

It’s going to have a FULL QWERTY and it’s nothing you can do about it. MWUHAHAHAHA!!!!! FULL QWERTY’s FTW!!!

      • john

Total retarded crackhead huh? Maybe there’s some pull behind censorship, listen just because you don’t like a style of phone, don’t bash those who do…retard

  • Meniscus

“Sony Ericsson lovers if the original Equinox color didn’t appeal to you, you can pick up the Equinox January 20th in the shade of Ocean Blue. ”

Great, maybe that will be enough to persuade all three people who have been thinking about picking up this phone to go ahead and get it.

  • Kendrix_myrealname

I really cant wait till there is another Android phone with a decent keyboard or a notable touchscreen with subsidized pricing without me having to change my plan. The only reason I didn’t get the G1 is because its butt ugly. Mytouch slide sounds great. I just wish T-Mo would allow the early Mytouch adapters to trade our phones in for it. I hate this phone sometimes. AND PLEASE HAVE A 3.5MM JACk. I HATE THE DONGLE CRAP!!

  • moose

Nokia will not be getting android anytime soon they are coming out with a new version of symbian that is going to compete with android and iphone os from what i have seen the new symbian is amazing i hope it comes to tmobile, by the way the guy that says qwerty keyboards make a phone ugly u obviously haven’t seen my n97 SEXY and not a bad phone overall if you can forget some of its problems

  • Wilma Flintstone

OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE BE THE MOTOROLA SHADOW!!!!! NEXUS TWO or WHATEVER THey Call it? TMOBILE, Take the current Shadow and scrap it, I WANT THE MOTOROLA SHADOW or NEXUS TWO!!!! Come on Tmobile, Keep up the steady pace of awesome that you’re doing this year and bring me that MOTO SHaDoW!!! :)

  • Your Local Rep

Hey guys I talked to all of the reps and they said we are getting the iPhone. Just believe me when I say it. I wouldn’t post on this site if I was pulling your legs. When somebody says they have spoken with a rep BELIEVE them!

    • NothinIsGoodEnoughForMe

HAHA. I love that too. With all the pictures of Streamline this page gets, you’d think people would start waiting for pics before believing what a rep said on the phone.

      • john

There was a one voice link the other day.

  • http://www.StandardAgency.com Jürgen

if T-Mobile wants to be cutting edge and considered top tier, they need to carry top tier phones in store, that would mean in 2010 the Nokia N900, HTC Nexus One, and the Apple iPhone. Will T-Mo get these.. I hope so.. but in reality.. I’d bet against all three coming to Magenta’s retail locations. Best bet would be the Nexus as the service is sorta kinda already there. Google would be smart to let tmo sell it for them.

    • Rick

I agree T-Mobile will probably get those phones they probably are trying to get all the phones that T-Mobile UK is trying to get for example, HTC Bravo, Xperia X10,the confirmed HTC HD2, and the LG InTouch MAX. I think they should talk to Lenovo about their android phones I really enjoyed their Custom UI. Lenovo will either try to sell their Android phones in the North America or stop using android because of the china and google conflict.

  • Sinferno

Ok i just worked a T-mobile convention where they gave out the new my touch slide to all the sales reps at the meetings….. I WILL HAVE ONE! yes bigger screen yes newest android software! i only got my hands on it for a few min but it is very sexy and smooth, comes in black white and red for now. WOO HOO FINALLY THE G1 version 2, worth the wait till may
