Project Dark Sees The Light

IMAG0005

At this point, there is significant speculation regarding Project Dark. There is simply too much buzz surrounding it for someone “in the know” to not want to feel a little powerful, drop some hints and create a larger buzz. Rumors are running wild on the forums and for the moment we’re going to let them remain rumors. The above image is meant merely to confirm an unlimited plan exists. We don’t know what “Even More” and “Even More Plus” means yet and we don’t want to throw out any more misinformation. We simply cannot confirm or deny anything with 100% certainty at this point. We know whats likely (see forum link) and whats not (iPhone).  We know some of you will look at the above picture and say “Ok…what does that mean?” Well, we can’t say for sure, but at this point we know T-Mobile has something big brewing. That something is seemingly related to that picture.

But just what IS the handset that I crave?

  • bing bang

I wish whatever is brewing is eligible for me to get at a good price since I still need one more year in this death sentence. haha

  • Galen20K

I hope they CRAVE the Handsets that us HardCore Phone Junkies Crave as well! Ahahahaaa

I think they have a really great start lately tho, TP2, N900, probably HD2!!!

  • pecoy

im in the same spot at bing bang cus of me getting the g1 last year

  • http://rufphus.blogpsot.com rufphus

Awesome. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. I’d really like to see a serious Android device come out soon.

  • ?????

    A guess:

Even more: unlimited voice, text, web – $50

Even more plus: unlimited voice, text, web (smartphone) – $75

  • Daniel

notice “The Handset you Crave” is singular, meaning one handset… hmmm what is the HANDSET we crave?

  • steven
  • steven

i dont know that theres anything to learn from that. but a tm search always helps

  • ?????

or they realize people won’t likely be carrying around multiple handsets…

  • Pedro

    @ Daniel

I’m hoping it’s something really really cool. Maybe I’m just hoping for that so that I won’t get the Cliq and get the next Android phone.

  • SnootchyBoochys

Could they be releasing a new handset called CRAVE? …………I bet the Even More Plus will feature the unlimited data plan while the other will just be unlimited minutes and text….I just hope that the Even More Plus is no more that $59.99 and I will be very happy!………..I’m not going to preorder my Cliq until they announce the new plans just in case I get stuck with an old rate plan that I cannot switch…..Is anyone else going to do the same if they are planning on buying the Cliq?

  • Gerard

Won’t they also be rolling out a new USB stick (for laptops, etc.) with expected mega-increased network speeds? It’s like the racehorse coming from way back in the pack and racing down the home stretch into not just a lead – but blowing by the others. It’s costing TMOUSA big bucks, but apparently they’re getting ready to trot the prize horse out soon. This will be fun to watch.

  • Cerberus

I guess you could crave black berries =)

  • ABERCROMBIEDUDE913

My Guess Is An Unlimited Calling Plan For Current Subscribers For 50$ Or Something. My Friend, On Contract, Got A Text Message Today Saying He Was Eligable For That 50$ Unlimited Voice… But IDK… I Wan’t That Unlimited. =P

  • watbetch

I would throw my under garments at a T-Mobile sign if this came true.

    lol

But yeah this is awesome seeming if it all comes true. It really makes sense because Cricket has been targeting T-Mobile with their latest ads and T-Mobiles unlimited plan is way over priced.

  • Pedro

    @ SnootchyBoochys

I’m leaning towards waiting as well.

  • Gerard

I hate to double-dip here, but with all the emphasis on hardware, it’s important to not take your eye off what’s happening “under the hood”. It’s the *infrastructure* that’s going to be beefed to the status of revolutionizing the industry. Think T-Mobile/Clearwire – massive 4G rollout. Clearwire is ready to throw the switch when they have the funds, T-Mobile is stepping up to provide the bucks and let the speed war begin. You may have been in the ‘dark’ before, but does that ‘clear’ anything up? Hmmm.

  • MishkaGreen

I CRAVE more play on words ;)

  • Broke

T-Mo Unlimited Voice for $49.99 is old. There has to be more to it.

  • z_alo_g07

49.99 is the customer loyalty promotion they had going on a while back they must of have brought it back again!! but im waitin for dis thing 2 bust fore i upgrade!!!!

  • rtx

i have said in the original post and will confirm again there is no project anything. there is several new rate plans hardly earth shattering news and the next lineup of devices to be released .. oh and don’t forget about those merger / buyout talks with c&w but that is for next year :O

  • Wicked1

Is this announcement gonna be just for voice plans or for data plans too?

  • Broke

Customer Loyalty plan has always been an option for me since it began. It never left. So, that probably just depends on how many of their prereqs you’ve met up to this point.

  • http://danglinginvective.blogspot.com Mark

OK, does anyone have an inkling when this thing is supposed to kick off?

  • Chris

I’d like it to be a T-mobile/Clear connections. The word ‘Coverage’ is in green and its very close in color to the green that Clear is using. Plus Clear and Sprint are already in bed together so maybe T-Mobile does buy Sprint and then creates a relationship with Clear.

    I can dream can’t I?

  • http://www.tmonews.com SPY101

For all of you who are waiting to see, I am a employee and all I can say is that you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

  • mikeeeee

it’s now the 16th in the morning.

    i can wait.

the thing i would really want is a router that would allow calls on all 3-g devices like att just did and goosing the myfaves list to 10.

otherwise, what are they going to roll out, another super cool phone that will distract me even more when i drive?

  • John

    @steven

I’m not finding anything with your search language. Maybe a point in the right direction?

  • IwantToKnow

so when is this p black going to be announced and it better impact everyone on tmo thats means better service

  • http://BangBoomCrash.com Stefan

I think TmoNews.com will become the OFFICIAL T-Mobile Blog. The updates seems to be slowing down which tells me people are busy working on something.

  • J

I heard what it was. Its an extremely aggressive plan. It will either make or break the company. I believe there will be at least one carrier that becomes nearly customerless after all is said and done.

  • jordy

First of all its A dark project. One of many and its simply a unlimited plan with no contract and when you buy the phone at full price you have the ability to spread the payments out over 20 months. Sick of people not nowing what there talking about especially BGR

  • Maxwell

Looks like everyone is jumping in on it:

WalMart Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is launching a no-contract wireless service called Straight Talk. The service offers a $30 or a $45 prepaid monthly plan and will be exclusively available at more than 3,200 Wal-Mart stores nationwide starting Sunday.

The $30 monthly plan includes 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts, 30MB of mobile Web access, nationwide coverage and 411 calls at no extra charge. The average U.S. adult spends $78 a month for 1,000 minutes, according to Wal-Mart, and this plan would save him or her more than $500 a year.

The $45 monthly plan includes unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited mobile Web access, nationwide coverage and unlimited 411 calls.

Straight Talk was developed with TracFone Wireless, and a pilot program was launched last summer in 234 Wal-Mart stores. “In light of the savings customers continue to need, we have worked very quickly to extend this offering to all of our Wal-Mart customers nationwide, and just before the holidays,” said Greg Hall, Wal-Mart vice president of Media Services.

Consumers can buy plans and refill their monthly balances at Wal-Mart or online at http://www.walmart.com or http://www.StraightTalk.com.

  • robot car

The Walmart plan appears to only work with one (terrible) phone.

  • robot car

I am about to sign up for a two-person Sprint EPRP plan. $50 a person, unlimited data, 1400 minutes, and Hero/Pre phones for $150 each.

However, I am patiently putting this off to see if Project Dark can beat this deal.

  • Craig

My main concern is will there be something for existing customers? With any and all T-Mobile Plans or is this for new Customers? Because nothing seems to be geared for existing Customers. :-(

  • http://none billy v

What it is, is this: A Marketing Ploy.
    A. More Minutes, Texts, Data (Unlimited Plans) for less
    B. More Coverage Area
    C. A joining of forces between T-Mobile and soon to be announced Company
    D. Faster 3g speeds

  • NiiDiddy

I KNOW a bit about Project Black…but will only share with the guys on TMONEWS if they want some more concrete info. I have to abide by T-Mobile rules to keep it hush, hush…but hush, hush is killing me…seriously!!!

    • David

      I dm’ed you on twitter!

  • http://none billy v

Yes it will be available to “all” existing and new customers.

  • pootytrick

If t-mo is already throwing out unlimited minutes for 50 bucks to a lot of customers, and is getting the N900 (yes, you want it) then I’m willing to bet they’ll at least match the lowest providers best deal in comparison of Sprints 60 dollar plan, but taking on unlimited everything to fight against Boost mobile and now the likes of Walmart who is going to throw out a 45 dollar unlimited plan, so they may go even cheaper to 50 bucks I think.

  • http://none billy v

NIDIDDY, tell me… email me billyvinson81@hotmail.com

  • juanes

    @robot car

you know the hero requires the simply everything plan right?

  • Bigg

Heard the even more plus plan will let customer buy any phone with no contract and pay over period of 20 months, I like that!

  • Craig

@niididdy hit me up also I have four lines open with T-mobile want to see what to be happy for & over :-) craibailey@gmail.com

  • Jason

As long as their unlimited plan (for smartphones) beats Sprint’s 69.99, I’ll stay. If not, I’m saying goodbye to T-mo and hello to Sprint and the Hero. We shall see…

  • Carl

That image looks completely PhotoShopped! I could do a better job at making that look real!

  • karate chop

Look for announcements Oct 25th and something involving the cliq

  • MAXIMUS

Let me start with ‘And the Handset You Crave’. Hmm….me personally…ANY handset is better than the ones T-Mo has been force feeding us. There is no other handset on the planet outside of the iPhone and its revolutionary design and features that have been craved more. Bar none the handset craved across the entire planet has been the iPhone. HTC has made some nice looking phones but none have captivating effect of the ‘God Phone’ :o)

SO if it’s NOT the iPhone I’d like to know exactly what phone T-Mobile believes we’ve all been craving? More Android? Bleh!!! They’ve made me such a anti-Android fan with the weak specs they’ve given us so far. I’ve been craving PHONES….not just one but MANY!!! Customers need better selections.

Even More Plus seems so obvious to me – HSPA+
Even More = More 3G Coverage. C’mon this isn’t rocket science.

One thing I really hope it’s not is MORE OF THE SAME. We shall see.

  • NiiDiddy
