More 3G, More 3G!!

Hot on the heels of this mornings 3G news comes in via a trusted tipster who sent us a very believable looking list showing off 3G launch dates for the rest of the year. • q2mobile

its Des Moines, IA not Des Moines, ID

  • Acsteffy87

MAN im from Waco, Tx! why do we have to be the last. i dont even get edge out where i live!!!!!

  • WHOOP WHOOP! Go head T-Mobile!

  • Anthony

I don’t even see Encinitas CA.!! That sucks we are never going to get in my area.. lol

  • sector43

you are lucky man. Sherman, TX we still have GPRS and no sign of 3G either at least Waco is in the list.
I really think now T-Mobile is pushing me towards AT&T

  • sam

I live in Temple, TX which is like 40 miles from Waco. So I probably STILL won’t get 3G. Round Rock gets 3G but that’s the other direction from me and about the same distance as Waco. I can only hope for Killeen!

  • sam

Oh, and I am still on GPRS as well! Lame.

  • sector43

35 miles north from Mckinney TX(HAS 3G) and same Dallas market the Sherman and Mckinney WTF T-MOBILE?

  • John

About time MI get’s from 3G love from the Big Magenta. Besides how could do ALL of Metro Detroit and not include Ann Arbor!! Good thing my contract is up in the 3rd quarter! Do I see a Touch Pro 2 in my future? I certainly do unless T-Moble pulls the ultimate coup de tat and scores a 3G iPhone!! Down with the death star!!!!

  • RIk

    Wooooot Finally Tacoma get’s love!!

  • Keoni

Hawaii is HI not HA =(

The bastards at the T-Mobile store said we’d get 3G in Jan. 09 but now it can be as late as Dec. 09 I think they just told me what I wanted to hear when I was making the switch from Verizon.

  • Rick

Makes me wonder when they bring up a city just how far the 3G signal reaches beyond the city core. Looking at the comments from the folks around Dallas it doesn’t seem to reach very far beyond the dallas city limits.

Sent from my G1 on tmo edge.

  • brooke

they need it in the twin cities area for minnesota way more people live there than in St Cloud And Rochester mn

  • savannah

Geez when is new orleans, la gonna get 3g! Shreveport is getting it and new orleans isn’t even on the list! wow

  • Kevin Morris

Jacksonville, Fl was scheduled for Q4 on the list a few weeks ago! What happened!?

  • J

This is at best an incomplete list. The market I’m working on is going to be ready by 3rd quarter at the latest and its not even on the list.

  • Nick

    YES!!!!!!! COLUMBUS FINALLY!!!! w00t

  • Mark

Yes! Finally, Merced gets some 3G love! :)

  • Casey

    Where is Jacksonville,Fl !!!!
We’ve been waiting. Every other city in FL has 3G. Even Cape Coral. Wtf.

  • Jax

Don’t worry about Jacksonville. It is still coming. You should see some 3G coverage in Jacksonville by 3rd quarter sometime.

  • J

I am working on Jacksonville, FL and it has been going pretty well until this week of rain brought everything to a screeching halt.

  • D

Hopefully the Evansville, IN market covers some Kentucky area on the other side of the Ohio River, but I suppose I can’t get my hopes up there.

  • Dave

Finally some 3G love for Ohio (Cleveland)!!!!

  • Dave

Hats off to all the T-Mobile engineers who have been working so hard for all of us getting these markets ready to launch 3G! Good job guys. Your hard work is appreciated by all of us. Keep up the great work. Thank you from Cleveland, Ohio.

  • cougle

Once again another bad list from tmonews. No new orleans when tmobile bought more bandwidth for the city last year for 3g. Tmonews ran with a list a couple months ago that was totally wrong. For your info, New Orleans has the 3g equipment installed. Dont get depressed if your city is not on the list because I would not trust it.

  • Bravehard

Yes! st.louis is finally on list. That’s what’s up!

  • enjoijams

Yes! The two surrounding cities are getting it. Oceanside and Escondido.
Only 7 miles from each of those cities. I still can’t wait till vista though.

  • Mr. Stacy R. Parr

I don’t see Boise, Idaho on the list either, but hopefully it’s still coming.

  • justinhub2003

ha this confirms that the 3 reps i called and asked about cincinnati 3g werent lying, they all said fall/quarter 3 for cincy.. im excited, our EDGE network is pretty decent hear but cincinnati bells no contract newtwork that runs on the same 3g bands as tmobile was starting to sound enticing… My G1 on Edge actually beat my friends iphone 3g on 3g 2 out 4 times loading, so will have to have a second race here soon this time 3g vs 3g.. im expecting Tmobile G1 (and tmo 3g) dominance.. Im a happy camper… Now i may even add the data package back on to my Gf’s behold so she can utilize it with 3g speeds..

  • Aniday

Finally! 3G in my city! I thought it may never happen.

  • This is the most up to date list that we as tmo reps have in out internal systems this comes directly fromo a tmo rep!!!!

  • SoTacMatt

I’m with you, glad to hear Tacoma getting 3G soon!

  • John

Finally Ohio some 3G love..(Toledo). What months are exactly 3rd qr? I’m assuming July, Aug, Sept?

  • josh

finally 3g for st louis mo!!!!!

  • FILA

haha, yea wheres your little sh!t hole york pa now huh. hahahaha, told you that shit wasnt coming there. yorks immigrant mexican trash land doesnt deserve 3G, and if they ever do, shame on them and shame on T-Mobile. Build around it. As for lancaster, buck em to, wtf the amish gonna use it for, lol. f your little pa “oh we so fly” buyllsh!t, thats why I hate ya muthabuckers up there.

Ima go harder then Baltimore, thats what it is. You can never be like us, no matter how hard you try. You aint, Bmore, and you sure the hell aint philly, you aint new york, you might think cuz you have the word york in ya name, but buck em all.

T-Mobile, thats amazing. Def gonna have over 200 markets by the end of the year like you said.

  • FILA

    Q1: Jan, Feb, March
    Q2: April, May, June
    Q3: July, Aug, Sept
    Q4: Oct, Nov, Dec

  • MadProfessor

    Yeayah! Q2 for Daytona Beach!
And just to think, earlier today I was bitching about the last post that showed a few upcoming markets and how mine wasn’t on it.

Now I just need to use my upgrade on a new 3G device :D

  • FILA

Welp the other part of the T-Mobile lineup just got revealed

looks liek the motorola morrison is planning on rolling out in holiday 09. So this is what we have all been waiting for, a Moto device. sucks, then that G1 v2 looks like a samsung, that sucks to. so really no good news for me this year in the Android market. I love the G1, but I like the G2, but i must have a QWERTY, so i guess ima go backwards in time and get the 1 if I decide against the TP2, very hard choice i keep battling myself against. and Android 2, aka Donut comes out this fall, so really nice stuff coming out on the Android side. big dissapointment for me

  • Rick

Can someone please remove the post from FILA? Commpletely inappropriate and not worth reading. No reason there can’t be a level intelligent discussion here. Thank You.

  • Tim

What about Lakeland, FL? Both Tampa and Orlando has 3G and still no 3G here!?

  • FILA

can someone remove Rick from humanity, worthless to anyone

  • Danny

Looks like every springfield except Springfield Missouri. Any word on when we might get it? Any installations even taking place?

  • Cubano

i heard tmobile is taking so long to do 3g because they have been working on 4G!!!

  • Chris in VA

FINALLY, the 1.7 million people in SE VA will have another 3G option in town besides “Orange”

  • southern belle

there is no Lake Charles TX so is it supposed to be Lake Charles, LA???

  • JBLmobileG1

I live in Henderson NV which is pretty much another part of Las Vegas and I heard our 3G would be up come June. I really do hope this is true and they have been working on it because for the past month or so my 3G service has been up and down. In fact it became so bad my battery was dying a lot more than normal so I had to use the 2G (edge network). I haven’t switched back to my 3G signal because half the time it doesn’t work and it kills the battery. Plus my phone seems to reset it self at random for no reason and I am waiting for my cupcake update which I don’t want to miss or lose because my phone rebooted itself on its own. This just started happening within the last month too. The only reason I would get 2 bars of 3G is because I am on the edge of Vegas’ 3G network. I really do hope this gets fixed and I get full 3G goodness and no more reboots.

  • obe1

im glad henderson nv is getting 3g but what im more concern with is north west las vegas horrible reception in the north west thanfully i dont live up their but i do work in that area hopefully one day north west will have 3g also aliante area too

  • mb00

    Q4 – Honolulu, HI. FINALLY!!!!

  • timmyjoe42

  • randi

    no 3G in carolinas?

  • Patrick

  • Kevin

Buffalo is finally on one of these leaked lists! Can’t wait!

  • JBLmobileG1

hmm well…. as I right this I am getting 3G in Henderson NV…. only getting between 2 and 3 bars but its better than the previous 2 that I would get (because I am so close to Las Vegas) that would always seem to switch from 2 bars to full edge then back and forth…. which seemed to drain my battery quickly. I did drop to edge once while writing this but only once…. normally its every 30 secs. Lets hope they are still improving… great start though and better than no 3G at all.

  • Ermac

Well if some of you crying knew ur stuff, ud know that the government has to jump off of the certain bands in the new area to get it started in that area. So you might have the equipment installed New Orleans, but u have to wait til the government gets off of the bands there before ur graced with 3G. Don’t blame tmo, blame the government

  • Sgt. Cell

Edge is great for me here in Rochester Ny, can’t wait to see how 3g is. Touch Pro 2 or Driftwood, hard decesion.

  • J

Carolinas probably should be somewhere on this list. There are cities left off. I’m not sure why. It could be because the cities aren’t expected to be completed until after 4th quarter. That does not mean they won’t launch before then. A city can launch as long as they have a big enough footprint to warrant the launch. It just may take a couple more months to expand the coverage or fill in the gaps.

  • MarkofCain

Does anyone know how far 3G reaches into the suburbs of these cities? I live in Concord, NH about 8 miles outside of Manchester, NH which gets 3G in the 2Q. Do you think it will reach?

  • b-mobileg1

Richmond, Va about got d@mn time, I’m tired in drive on I95 and as soon as i get to northern Va i got 3G all the way to nYc but none in capital of Virginia

  • Joe

This is great to see…been really debating whether to leave for ATT to get the 3G coverage. Anyone have information on 3G possibly coming to Gainesville, FL? Can’t believe they would leave off a huge college down and yet bring it to Cape Coral, FL.

  • cougle

T-mobile owned store in Covington, LA says New Orleans will get 3g Sept 15th.

  • sorandkairi

i live in montgomery,al but i;m from jackson,ms how the H3LL dont they have 3g!!!!!!

  • Curly

I see that the list says “Lake Charles, TX.”
Lake Charles is in Louisiana, not Texas.

  • Nishanth

Finally for the Indy area! Can’t wait to use it with the TP2!

  • Chris

You’ll probably get it under the Oceanside/Escondido rollout. Its weird how t-mobile rolls it out to certain areas but list some of the smaller cities when they announce them. Like Moreno Valley, which isn’t that big of a city but will probably cover Sun City and all the bordering towns.

  • J

Gainesville, FL is part of the Jacksonville market. I’m not sure if it will launch at the same time as the core of Jacksonville. If not, it won’t be too far behind.

  • Dwade16

That Make My Day My City Is On That List (Columbus,GA) I Cant Wait Till I See That 3G Symbol On My Phone !

  • TomClancy

    FILA says:
    Q1: Jan, Feb, March
    Q2: April, May, June
    Q3: July, Aug, Sept
    Q4: Oct, Nov, Dec

Good job FILA, at least you know your math. Your special education teacher will be proud of you, and don’t forget the short buses are parked in the back until further notice. :-)

  • flfny

Tmo rolling out 3G in PA is good and all BUT I was driving in the Poconos and BOY do they need more COVERAGE. Edge is sparse. I often was on G… WTF? G? it’s like a freakin fax modem. Just saying… 3G is cool but maybe they need to improve in the coverage area first (atleast when it comes to certain more rural areas).

  • patrick

Wow, still no chattanooga tn. Un friggin believable. I bought this phone specifically to use 3g…sprint, verizon, at&t all have 3g here already. Tmobile’s customer support center is here as well and still no 3g??

  • l_____l

I just got off the phone (611 level 3) and New Orleans will NOT see 3G until AFTER Christmas 09! (Sometime early 2010). Previous LIARS @ 611 said June or July 09! Yet, 3G in Shreveport, LA already? That’s like having 3G on an abandoned burned out oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico….per ca-pita wise! I guess, let’s put a 3G setup 1st and foremost on the “Bridge to Nowhere” in Alaska! That way the 6 or 8 commuters a day can have 3G access while driving across a bridge that should not have been built. Naaa, don’t put a darn thing in New Orleans, an area where twisted pair land lines can’t be replaced in many areas even after 4 years.

  • jofoto612

rocheste? st cloud? not minneapolis or st paul. wtf?

  • Heather

The twin cities are already 3G

  • Heather

I should admin that.. Minneapolis is 3G, and has been since late last summer.

  • Cross Wichita Falls, TX off the list of no 3G, we just got 3G this morning.

  • Scott

Should Des Moines be IA instead of ID?

  • fred

what the hell. what about new orleans

  • Jason

Yay for 3G in Wichita Falls! It’s about time!!

  • rickb928

Hmm… About half of Mesa, AZ by area or 70% by population has 3G already. Ignoring a chunk to the east that shows it on the map but it is not actually there, and another chunk southeast that is on the map but it really isn’ there either. As in if it is installed, it’s not turned on, but more likely it isn’t even installed. Which hasn’t changed since Q4 2008. Since this is pretty much the end of Q2, I’m thinking this is catch-up or fictional. Scottsdale is pretty much covered already since Q4 2009. Peoria is also solidly lit up, like the map says already. So is this just someone’s blind guesses, or a list of fixes/fill-ins/completions? Glad I don’t live in Maine any more, there is NO 3G there, nothing north of Haverhill MA. ick.

  • Daniel

WTF no NEW ORLEANS!!! How much longer do we have to wait!!! Im gonna be switching soon if I have to wait to 2010 to get 3g!!!

  • GreenEyedBandit tmo rep

@rick928 – Your such an idiot,Q2(apr,may,june)is not almost over. There is more than a month left plenty of time to cover the needed cities with 3g.

  • DexterP17

Yes 3G is finally coming to athens. I have a 3G phone now for the network!

  • oxfdblue

Who cares where 3g is available. When T-Mobile gets a 3g Blackberry…then maybe there will be something to be excited about.

  • Jesse Blann

What about Hickory NC and Asheville NC?

  • falecha

Well when do they plan on giving Springfield, missouri 3g??? This is fuck** up!!!!

  • John Deere

ha springfield mo? that place is whack

  • rickb928

GreenEyedBandit tmo rep, I’ll be watching. Notice I was pointing out that large areas of coverage that are at this very moment showing as 3G are in fact *NOT* receiving 3G, and have not since Q4 2008.

To put it another way, it’s been about 6 months since I was supposed to be receiving 3G at my home, and it still doesn’t work. And large chunks as well. Even the 101 Pima Freeway from the 202 up to McDonald are without 3G, much of which was working in March 09.

Perhaps you’d like to open another ticket to Engineering for me? It would be my third. I’m waiting for the Q2 rollout to complete before I bother again, since CS has so far been unable to get the problem resolved or even follow through with a ticket.

Not intended as an insult, just a statement of fact. Around the middle of July I may start whining again, but again, I’m waiting by then over 8 months for coverage TMO says I should have NOW.

Admit it. The maps are not perfect. Or the network isn’t perfect.

  • Danny S

Wtf is really good! Am I gonna have to move to use my G1. I live in New Orleans now and I’m sick of waiting for 3g service. If one more Iphone user tells me how much better that peace of crap is cause of 3g I may stangle someone. Tmobile……get on your A – game! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

  • david

    Where’s NJ?????

  • Mark B.

NY State CAPITAL Albany doesn’t get 3G but BUFFALO, Rochester & Syracuse DO get it??? Albany’s getting screwed w/our pants on. Must be payback for having all the State Workers & Elected Officials housed here. Buy the G1 on the promise 3G is coming & sit for MORE that half your contract without the STATE CAPITAL even being mentioned. T-mo, you boned us.

  • Iceman

In Michigan just about 50 miles north of Detroit and still no Tmo 3g yet. 3G is in downtown Detroit and most of the suburbs within a 20 mile radius of the city. I have had my G1 since day 1 and have 3g when I travel in many cities. I’m still tired of ATT having a larger 3g network by far. Although after a recent trip to Vegas I noticed that it sucks my battery life like no tomorrow. I was constantly looking for a charger literally charging my phone 2-3 times a day just to keep up with my normal usage. G1 needs to do something about 3g battery life!

  • Alan

WTF! Shreveport, but no New Orleans, what kind of fuckery is this?

  • Ron

Tired of waiting for 3G in Jax, FL. Already shopping AT&T. Bought G1 when it first came out. Feel like I was raped. FU T-Mobile, I hope you go bankrupt!!!!

  • Colin Small

Where is 3G in New York’s Capital Region????? Buffalo is getting it… what about the freaking capital???

  • Mark

We got ours in Wichita Falls, Texas 1 June. Earlier reports said it would be end of April, but we have it now.

  • Michael Lee

Buffalo FTW. Been waiting on this. Hope it comes true

  • dehof

Okay Mark B. and Colin Small, I have to tell you something. Albany is the capitol of New York, not the “capital”. I’m sorry, but especially when you CAPS the word it only makes me laugh harder. All of that aside, I do hope you get some 3G fun soon.

  • samo

I got my cupcake on the first and had to safe mode master reset, and when my G1 came back on with the default setting to search for 3G I had it. I live in Lawrence KS and would have had no idea if I didn’t have to reset my phone. The local 3rd party dealer said they flipped it on at the end of May! The coverage dosnt even show up on the coverage map. I am happy, but why would a small market college town get it before a larger market?

  • Chrees

@dehof Sorry to tell you this, but Albany is indeed the capital, not the “capitol”, of New York. It’s okay to try and correct someone, but when you try and make the person feel dumb, when you yourself are providing a wrong answer, you just look like an even bigger bigot.

  • Land Of The Trill

WOOOOO HOOOOO! Beaumont TX is live and 3G is awesome I’m getting 360kbps the lowest so far is 267kbps and my G1 is in love with speed.

  • David

Woke-up this morning with 3G in Salem, Oregon. Woohoo!!!

Unfortunately, I seem to be between two towers, one 3G and the other EDGE, my phone keeps switching back and forth.

  • rel333

All these smaller cities in Florida…..slowly creeping down. When is 3G coming to MIAMI?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Heatfan

Why should I buy a G1 and put unlimited txt and web on it, when 3G is not available where i am. Is not even on the cities that should get 3G this year, even thou i live in the Capital of a state. Paying cash for something that i can’t use to the fullest is stupid. I should just change service, and come back in 2 years maybe then Tmobile 3G might be available where i am.

  • Spencer

    What about Boise, Idaho!?

If no announcement is made for this area by July 6th (when my contract is up) I am jumping ship and going to AT&T with my iPhone. It’ll be a said day as I have been with T-Mobile for 6+ years and am very happy with them. But I want 3G speed and Visual Voicemail will be nice.

  • t-mob has been sucking for 5 years. no signal where i live, but my employer paid my bill. now they dont and im stuck with the g1 upgrade which extended the [now ‘my’ ] contract.
i have repeatedly asked for free t-mob @ home to help with the absolute disregard for its customers. nope. i pay 10 a month for the only thing t-mob offers that actually works exactly as advertised. 3g or even a signal is a myth with t-slobs.
i have entered repeated ‘tickets’ for their ‘quality’ team. i have shown them over and over and over again that they cant provide me service i pay for, to no avail. and now this is like a slap in the di**.
i live in nj, 30 min away from nyc. dead ass center in the 3g map on the website. i get crap. now they want to roll out 3g to cities with 14 people living in them when they cant even friggin provide 3g to a major market. get ur head out t-slobs.
after contract up, i may give up phones altogether. but definately, w/o question, t-mob is gone. i wish i knew an attorney to find out if i could sue them for sucking. that would be my complaint too. docket # blah blah blah, bizzaro versus t-slobs in the case of extreme sucking.
keep ur roll out map. the only thing leaking is my wallet into t-slobs accounts.

  • Yes, Reading, PA Q4…I had my G1 since release and only have 3G in philly and brooklyn but not in Reading, PA.

  • Miguelito

@rel333 Miami was one of the initial markets to be launched with 3G. Put your zipcode here and click on data coverage and you’ll see there is 3G coverage from South Miami and as far north as the Palm Beaches.

  • Heatfan

I would think that Olympia, WA would get 3G being that it is the Capital of Washington. But NOOoooo… Why should I wait until Olympia, WA gets 3G next year. By then everyone else will have something faster, and like always tmobile will try be trying to catch up. I love Tmobile but except for android, they are always trying to catch up with new tech O_o

  • crackzattic

No news for Mobile,AL ? and why does new orleans not have 3g but their going to do Shreveport this quarter?

  • Kyle

Tallahassee, FL, the freaking state capital, doesn’t get 3G.

  • David C

JACKSONVILE FL Come-on T-Mobile Daytona before us give me a break. JACKSONVILE FL NOW!

  • hisham

when 3G get to CT and is going to be all over
    CT Thank u

  • Andy, Inc

    Woo hoo Moreno Valley! :]

  • sooony

Wake me up when 3G comes to Jacksonville,FL…..I think all Citys with football, basketball and baseball teamsa should have 3G…

  • Ms Sensational

Good News for Nashville,, I’m in Antioch TN which is part of Nashville and we just got 3G yesterday morning. I went to the T-Mobile store to confirm it and it’s true… Yeah it’s about time.

  • Meghan

I just saw my myTouch go into 3G this morning in Charlotte NC. I am thrilled.

  • Well quarter three said something about St. Cloud and Rochester, MN but it never happened. Way to go T-Mobile I was actually hoping for some 3G. I don’t live in the cities. There are people in the rural areas you know!!!!!

  • Jim

Topeka, KS was supposed to see 3g in Q3. It is September 30, 2009.

No 3g for T-Mobile. ATT has it. Verizon has it. Sprint has it.

So, just in case you’re in Topeka and thinking about T-Mobile. Don’t waste your time like I am. Go somewhere else for 3g. T-Mobile is empty promises.

Well, Montgomery Al is on the Q3 list as well and still no 3G. My G1 is about to have its 1 year bday and has never had to use it’s 3G icon. Waiting…..
