More G1 news, some phone's shipping…

So unless you are new to the wireless world or have just been living under a rock you know what next Wednesday is. So for those of you who chose not to do the pre-sale we got ourselves a nice little list of some things to be aware of for next Wednesday:

Customers waiting in line will be handed out tickets according to desired color for purchase (Bronze/Brown and Black only) These tickets will correspond directly to store inventory.
Tickets will contain 5 key features of the device.
Maximum of 5 handsets per account.
NO phones will be sold without the data add-on.
RUMOR only: No phones will be sold at full retail, Activations and Upgrades only.
G1 “experts” will be on hand to demo the phone as well as pre-qualify Individuals for purchase.
Greeters will be assigned to retail stores to you know greet you.
Someone called a “line lead” will be there to entertain customers and keep them happy while waiting. Anything less than balloon animals and I’ll be disappointed.

T-mobile definitely sounds like they have a great understanding of how to handle crowd control and keep customers “happy and entertained” while awaiting their turn. This is of course more than AT&T can say after the recent 3G iPhone launch which ranks among the most disorganized activity this side of 3rd grade dodgeball.

Update: Judging by today’s recent comments here, forum threads here and here some of you are starting to finally get some trade off for your endless barrage of UPS tracking inquiries. That’s right, an undeterminded number of people are able to get an arrival date for their G1. Grown men are now weeping in front of computer screens everywhere. Of course three day shipping means the phone could come as early as Friday and we must reiterate that here at Tmonews we DO NOT encourage the tackling of any UPS employee who is walking around in your neighborhood. We don’t condone that activity, but we’ll take pictures. Kidding!

You use your cell phone number with dashes correct.?

Does anyone know what number I need to use to track my shipment. I have tried my phone number with the dashes and without. But I am not sure I am on the right page to do the tracking. If someone would post the url to the right tracking page and tell me what number I am supposed to use, I can stop crying and tearing my clothes.

Also, use your phone number with dashes. Ex: (555-555-5555) and be sure that the date range extends to the end of this month.

Goto UPS.com and click on the Tracking tab
On left click Track by Reference
Enter 10 digit number including dashes
(NPA-NXX-XXXX) and if it’s been assigned a tracking number
you’ll see that and the ETA.

(Lucky me, mine will arrive tomorrow 11/16)

Go to ups.com click on the tracking tab, track by rerence number and use your ten xxx-xxx-xxxx as refrence! There you go!

I hope I get lucky like I did with the Sidekick LX….UPS shipped it to me 2 weeks before the phone was supposed to come out.

I checked UPS website and it showed that UPS had received the billing information.

Just wondering but I thought they were going to release the white one on the actual release date now has that been changed or moved 2 a later date because the the only reason I didn’t pre-order because I wanted 2 be special with the white one ?

It appears that the 25 or 35 data plan will be required when you purchase the phone, but do any T-Mobile employees know if it will be possible to downgrade to the $20 data plan after the phone has been purchased? I have heard rumors of the phone working with the $20 data plan, just seeing if anyone can confirm. Thanks.

@steven i dont work for tmobile, but i have heard that it wont work with any other data plan, only the g1 data plan. i dont understand why they are doing that, but apparently apple did the same with the iphone. greedy b@st@ards, lol.

you might want to check again New York. I live in the boondocks of Maine, and mine shows billed/shipped for 10-14-08!

You will have to get the data plan it could be $25 or $35 until said otherwise although I’m sure most of you know the phone is useless without the plan and they should sell all smartphones and sidekicks like this since without the data service your limited and the phone won’t function properly

If its not popping up on ups.com just means ups hasn’t taken the phone into the system yet.
I’m hoping to get mine before work tommorow! If not friday is fine, wish I could have got the black one, I am actually getting two, good times.

I got 2 coming too I live like 5 hrs from austin and it said out for delivery at like 8:30am ct ups truck don’t fail me know and get delivery early I will pick up at destro. I already called and they will hold it.

I have been checking for days and days and still nothing from ups….I am getting frantic…I dreamed I remodeled my house put solar panels on the roof(free electricity) and had my phone…yeah that sounds like my unconscious wishing for nirvana

Ordered mine on the 23rd about an hour after they were available for upgrade. And still no shipping info on UPS. This is what i get for 7 years of loyalty.

Yeah, will see how long it takes. I’m kind hoping it wont show up tell Monday. I have two books read and two papers to write this weekend. I know if the phone shows up on Friday I will spend way to much time playing with it. haha

@Babygirl, please tell you are not seriously bringing “loyalty” into a discussion like this. You are really upset because your tracking number hasn’t posted yet? That’s pretty heavy handed, how about you just keep trying instead of yelling about loyalty.
