Score A Sidekick LX For Just $39.99, No This Isn’t A Late April Fools Joke

I’ve really got nothing to say about this other than don’t buy it…it’s useless, the Sidekick platform as we once knew it is dead. You can’t use data, like at all. Don’t purchase it…but feel free to point and laugh and spread it around among your friends. Well, I take that back, feel free to buy it and hang it on your shelf as a T-Mobile memento for days gone by. This “deal” ends at midnight.

I wonder where these guys got the box of old sidekicks…  Hopefully they didn’t actually buy them.

I might actually buy one of these as a toy for my toddlers.  They’ll love the swivel screen.

Sites like these get stuff by the truckload for 10 cents or less on the dollar. The manufacturer and/or carrier has already taken the loss and tax benefits, so it they get rid of say 100,000 of these for $5,000 to $10,000 it is gravy.

Since this site is selling them for $40, I suspect they got each for about $5.

During my very brief stint with T-Mo, I owned this phone!  Not going to lie, I’m tempted to buy it for old times’ sake.

  • Efrias73

    Is it off contract?

    • Yes. Duh.

      • Realcool2000

+10 for great posts and use of the word “duh” lmao.

  • NardVa

I would rather buy a flip phone.

  • They can only be used for SMS, no data or mms. Not worth it at this point, but looks good still.

    • Johntajacobs

Actually you can use it for MMS. The only data feature available

  • electronica

Just curious why you say that you cannot use this for data?  I see there isn’t any wi-fi, but according to the specs, it has UMTS 1700/2100 onboard.  Why could this not be used for data?  I’m looking to replace my daughter’s Samsung Gravity T (piece of crap).

    • LC

It used its own data service that stopped working back in May.

Getget the sidekick 4G android model. Its GREAT for txting. I bought mine on ebay last year and unlocked it. I have been using it while iv been in china this passt year. You’ll need a larger micro SD to support more apps, but I think its great. I’m currently using it for all communication as my laptop got fried. Its slick, slightly chunky as it is a sidekick, but with secure slideup hinged screen rather than swivel. :) and yes, data and wifi.

    • TrevorMadden

The Danger OS is no longer supported, and T-Mobile dropped support for data communications for this device a long time ago

  • duck

I believe this may be one of the devices that they took the sidekick OS off of

  • I still have one… in a drawer somewhere.

  • If you buy it, it’s actually worth $55 as a T-Mobile trade in… So… Might be worth it for that alone.

    • Guest

Not really after paying shipping and handling youre probably paying around 60 bicks

  • justme

You can use Sidekick (some models) through the Simple Mobile provider.

  • justme

Is this a hint that we’ll hear about the new Sidekick very soon?

  • Johntajacobs

Awwwww I have one in my closet and a Sidekick 2008 in my closet.

  • Dave Macias

im using my fiancess LX 09 until i can get me a galaxy nexus, this is just a brick on your pocket , aside from sms and calls there is nothing else to do, i was trying to figure out how to put the phone on recovery mode and see if i could install the OS from the mobiflip but i can’t find the mobiflip OS anywhere.

  • This could be great to have as a texting machine for the kids…

  • aubrechon
    • WOW, good information…I’ve never ordered from them.  Glad I haven’  Thanks.

      • sorandkairi

I order from them all the time….they are fine! Just got a portable 750GB hard drive from them last week for $40

  • theman

Sad that this the only news for tmo.

    • kahlayoh

What were you expecting, Iphone coming to T-Mobile…hahahahaha!!

  • EXIBITman

I just ordered 2 sidekickS great price!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Elder Mo

This is so silly…what would we do with it? Use it as a phone? Would be a great phone for kids for texting.

  • WirelessRefugee

Not sure what the complaints are for. The site is not advertising it as anything other than a phone, camera and media player.

I don’t know about anyone else, but $40 for a feature phone is a good price. So this appears a item for the price.

I do think to make sure those idiots, morons and cheapskates who posted on that consumer complaint site don’t complain about this too, the Company should make sure buyers understand this is not a smartphone in the sense that it will provide a data connection.

To be sure, anyone complaining about “three sets of infant clothes for $13,” or who would buy a “1 Carat Diamond 14K white gold bridal set” from a “Deals for Skinflints” website are going to think that this purchase includes three free 2012 movies, and 24 months of unlimited talk, text and 4G data.

Sidenote: It is most telling that the complaint site’s Google Ads have advertisements for bankruptcy, bail bonds, debt collection, criminal attorneys, and prepaid credit cards. The target market for those ads pretty much says it all.

  • Bklynman

Maybe someone should let Pairs, know about his sale! She would buy one!
