Price Changes For The T-Mobile G2, G-Slate

With just a few days away from Saturday’s sale T-Mobile has seen fit to make some price changes to both the T-Mobile G2 and T-Mobile G-Slate. While the T-Mobile has long since been end of life if you can find one, it will now cost you $99.99 on a Classic plan after a $50 mail-in-rebate and $99.99 down on a Value plan with a  $15.00 payment per month.

The G-Slate will set you back $299.99 on a Classic plan after a $200.00 mail-in-rebate and $199.99 down payment on a Value plan with an EIP payment of $10.00 per month.

Of course for you Value plan takers your best bet is to hang on till Saturday and take full advantage of the sale if you are looking to score the G2, G-Slate or any other smartphone in T-Mobile’s lineup.

I thought the G2 was taken out of the store shelves a few months ago?

I would like to see more articles or header posts stating when phones hit end of life.

The Sunnyvale, CA store took it off display a month ago.

But they said they still have 5 in stock when I asked a couple of weeks ago.

G2 has been end of life for about 2 months now

  • Soloartyz

Umm… don’t you mean the G2x?  To the best of my knowlege, you can’t even get the orginal G2 anymore.  Good thing I already got one.

      Look at the picture.

      • Soloartyz

Don’t care what that picture says, you can’t get that phone anywhere from T-Mobile. It was discontinued months ago before it even got gingerbread.

So he means the G2 per his picture, and I don’t care if you don’t want to admit that.

Very nice, and again. Hey G-Slate might be considered. Wow. That’s the price it should have debuted at.

Great now people are gonna come in looking for this when as those before me stated the G2 was “end of life” months ago. Yay for consumer disappointment…

While not on display, some stores still have them in stock.

Tmobile is tripping.I have an Even More Plus Plan and to upgrade my phone now I would have to switch to one of the other plans to get the $15 a month add on and it would also take away my 5gb of data I have on my plan.So I guess I’ll stay with my Mytouch for now

STILL rockin’ with my original G2 for almost a year now.  This is the longest I’ve used the same phone in a loooooong time, but nothing on TMO really does anything for me.  G2 has it all for me:  good touchscreen, excellent qwerty (after you get used to it) and its just as snappy as it was when I got it.  Not to mention this thing is a BEAST when it comes to sturdiness.

All that said, I still find it crazy that they EOL’ed it that quick.  Oh well.

The G2 is the best phone I’ve ever owned, hands down. Overclocked to 1.4 ghz its as good as any of the new dual core phones out there.

  • MakesSense

Still overcharging for the G2 I see?  Who in their right mind would pay $150 upfront for that old brick when they can get a free dual core slimmer more powerful Android device from Amazon or Wirefly?

“While the T-Mobile has long since been end of life…”

Lol, I know that’s just a typo, but somehow I find it funny and sad all at the same time :)

Sometimes I kind of miss my old job. Heh, and then I remember how infuriating the customers could be sometimes, and I just chuckle to myself and think about how good I’ve really got it right now.

It’s kind of fun to walk down memory lane once in a while though :)

(I really do miss the occasional conversation I got to have with someone who was completely stark raving crazy. Like the people who thought the CIA was tracking them through their phone (although, as it turns out. Maybe that isn’t so crazy after all) or the lady who accused me of being part of the Roswell conspiracy (apparently cellular technology was something that had been secretly recovered from an alien spacecraft, and I had direct knowledge of the conspiracy because I worked for “them.”)

Lol, but I don’t miss the masturbators. :P But the people who would pocket dial 611 while they were getting it on were pretty funny…

DO NOT BUY THE LG G-SLATE!!! LG LOCKED THE BOOTLOADER, T_MOBILE SAYS DEVELOPMENT IS NOT SUPPORTED ON THE DEVICE. THE SLATE SHIPS WITH A CRIPPLED 3.1 BUILD OF ANDROID, NO USB-HOST, NO NETFLIX, NO USBMOUNT, STUTTERED VIDEO CAPTURE/PLAYBACK. THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR PC WITHOUT SOFTWARE WHICH MEANS IT WILL NOT WORK IN THE REAL WORLD WHEN YOU NEED IT TO. THIS IS UNSUPPORTED BY LG AND T-MOBILE DO NOT BUY!!!

LET T-MOBILE DIE THE SLOW DEATH IT DESERVES, DON’T COMPROMISE YOUR INTEGRITY FOR A QUICK BUCK, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! OPPOSE THE AT&T/T-MOBILE MERGER!!! T-MOBILE DOESN’T WANT ANDROID TO BE FREE!!!

    Signed, future former T-Mobile Customer

How is the new change a price drop for the G slate?

The original promo page lists it as $300 downpayment with a $200 rebate and $10 EIP.

    It’s now a $400 downpayment.

    • motu

I get it, the price change is not the special promo.

The G2 has is over inventoried due to all the refurb and replacement that was done. There are thousands sitting out west.

I am on my fifth. Better with 2.3.3 but still no match for Dave’s iphone.

I bought into the G2 hype. Upgrades, blah blah. All I got was heatache.

    Back to see the squid!
