Video Overview Of The myTouch 4G Slide Camera

T-Mobile is certainly looking to hype up the biggest selling point of the myTouch 4G Slide, its camera. With a 68 second video you can take a look at what kind of features you can expect when you get your hands on the 4G Slide later this month. I’ll say that the lack of a shutter lag is a feature I’d love to see on more camera phones and digital cameras in general. Take a look at the vid!

Hey it looks pretty good, it would be sweet to win one on one paw bandit

O no it still has Expresso Sense. FAIL

    • http://twitter.com/Smooth3d Deon Davis

It Is not espresso sense that came with the MT3GS. The Mytouch 4g came with MySense 2.0. The MT4GS has MySense 3.0 which may be a little better then Sense 3.0 with the app dock built in.

I actually like espresso sense there’s really not a huge difference from the original htc sense. It is not as bad as people say it is.

    • Anonymous

Yeah but rumor had it they ditched the expresso sense in favor or regular sense 3.0

    Some quick thoughts..

    1) Sure, this phone is pretty nice and has some major upgrades which will pretty much make it the best camera phone out there.  For 2-3 months max because the iPhone 5 is set to be released from any time in August to October and is rumored to have an 8 megapixel camera which records in 1080p as well (and I’m pretty sure Apple wouldn’t want some mid-level phone to out do them).

    2) I’m not trying to speak for the majority of smartphone users out there, but I just don’t think that most people get a smartphone (ESPECIALLY one that has a slide out qwerty keyboard) to use as their primary means of taking pictures.  Sure, most of us who have smartphones take pictures from time to time, but most smartphone users (once again, especially those that have a slide out qwerty KB) use it for e-mail, texting, web browsing and those type of features. Like I said, it’s great that HTC and T-Mobile have come out with such a great camera phone, but I hope that this is a great phone that has a camera, as opposed to a great camera that also happens to be a phone.

    • Bretthutton19

i personally use my slide out qwerty phone as my main camera. it has never failed me for the past two and halfish years (g1) i think this is a perfect upgrade for me.

      • alt-mobile

I respect that, but I just think that most people who own a smartphone, specifically with a keyboard, is to use that keyboard for e-mail/texting/social networking/surfing the web and not the camera.  I’m not saying I won’t buy this phone because my MT3G Slide is garbage (it has NO internal memory and the battery barely lasts me 10 hours).

My sister’s very interested in this one. She’s been using the Sidekick 3 for years, and has been looking for a replacement since the Danger service got turned off. She didn’t care for the Sidekick 4G’s re-purposing of the four Danger buttons, the little nub control, TouchWiz variant, and the somewhat dated specs. She’s a busy mom that likes to email and text, and wants to take pics and videos of her children and easily post them on Facebook. She didn’t have kids when got the Sidekick, so a good camera wasn’t important. Now it is, along with a QWERTY keyboard.

Yeah, to be honest I’m excited about this phone too.  But the thing I guess I was trying to say is that I hope this isn’t like the MyTouch3G Slide with an amazing phone.  What I mean about that is that I hope that the battery doesn’t get drained in less than a day because of the Sense and the genius button running in the background all the time.  I guess we’ll see how great this phone when it gets released and we see some reviews on it.

I understood what you wrote. I don’t have a slide out keyboard, so on anther note, I would just like to say, that I do in general use my phone as my primary camera. Mostly because I hate carrying around multiple devices. And I can tell you’re talking about a more business clientele when you reference emails and such, but keep us ordinary users in mind too, LOL

        • alt-mobile

haha I wasn’t referring to more business clientele type of people :) I’m an ordinary user who’s in graduate school and e-mail and texts are pretty much my main means of communicating.
Anyways, I appreciate people’s constructive feedback and sharing their opinions.

I agree with you. Sensation camera is nice, but doesn’t compare to my Nikon D3100. The dual core and 4g was more appealing than the 8mp camera with FFC imo, simply because I already have a nice DLSR.

“The biggest selling point of the mytouch 4g slide, its camera”.. Go figure, I doubt anyone anticipated that..

Slider fans rejoice, looks like we have a winner.. I wonder why t-mobile hasn’t disclosed a release date..

Whatever the reason, it’s having an adverse affect on the re-sale value of my mt4g lol.. I’d be lucky to get $250 for it at this point..lol

    • Guest

I sold my MT4G a week before the Sensation came out and got $230 for it. Mint condition, case, unused accessories, the whole 9 yards.

      • The Architect (of the Matrix)

Wow $230 and that was nearly a month ago..

But browsing c.l. and ebay, it seems the most ppl are willing to pay is $200..

I’m thinking about settling for that, and just toughing it out with my cliq, because I can’t see the mt4gs being released before the 20th..

Dual core and keyboard are the main selling points but the fact it has advanced camera functions are a hugh plus as more people are using camera phones for a good amount of picture taking.
Also it can run flash so you have the complete and real internet.

I like it I was thinking of getting this cuz I just love keyboard phone. I just waiting for someone to review it and then I buy it. I just hope it come with gingerbread 2.3.4 the one that has the google video chat.

love the camera….the myTouch 4G’s camera leaves much to be desired so i’m really really loving the one on the Slide but i don’t want a hard keyboard phone anymore.  i wish there was a myTouch 4G with all the dual core goodies and camera like the Slide.

I’m not positive, but this camera tech sounds like the same tech that’s on the HTC Sensation.So.. there you go!

      • http://www.fiftyonemarketing.com Deacon

unfortunately it is no where near the same tech as the Sensation. it’s much much better… the Sensation is no better than what’s included on the myTouch 4G.

        • Robert Bogart

Says who? Do you have a Sensation? There is almost zero shutter lag with the Sensation too unless its a dimly-lit environment, in which case it takes a second for the dual LED flash that this camera does not have to try to focus the image.

I take great pictures with the Sensation. My only complaint is the lack of a dedicated camera key, however, the 2 second self timer alleviates that quite well for taking pictures of myself and friends I’m with.

The main thing with the camera on the MT4GS is that it is pretty much always in burst mode, which while it completely eliminates lag time, will drain the battery much faster I imagine.

        • Deff

In addition, the Sensation also has the “scenes” the MT4G has. And as a leisurely photographer myself, (Nikon D3100) I never use my phone to take “real” photos anyway. The quality is nice on the Sensation, but no phone will ever completely take the place of any DLSR camera.

I have a Sensation.  I prefer to have a camera key also.   With all the additional features, the MT4GS has a better camera hands down.  Burst mode is optional of course.

We will see a release date when most of the bugs are ironed out. Unless Tmobile is hoping to sell those old inventory mobiles to make room for fresh mobiles with fresh features.

Tmobile please have covers available on day 1.

For anyone interested, wirefly posted a unboxing of the mt4gs..

They didn’t dig much into the software, but the hardware looks pretty sweet..

The bezels looks a little imposing, and I can’t help but wish the screen size was 4″, but those are minor trade-offs for some dual core qwerty goodness..

How many GBs? My iPhone has only 8 of them. Is 8 MPs better than 8 GBs?

    • Deff

A GB is a Gigabyte, referring to the internal memory of the device. A MP is a megapixel, referring to the pixelation of a photo taken from a camera. In my opinion, anything over 8 megapixels is unnecessary unless you are going to print the photo, or edit it somehow in Photoshop. They are two completely different things. Here’s a comparison for you, most apps could be anywhere between 100-500 MB. Each song could be between 3-12 MB. There are 1000 MB in a GB. So if that helps you understand internal storage to a certain extent, there ya go. But MP’s and GB’s don’t have anything to do with each other… haha.

I want four things from my cell:
    1) I want a great camera. It has it.
    2) Great hardware and software.  It seems to have it
    3) I want a real workable usable keyboard like the Side-Kick. The Slide doesn’t have it.
    4) A LARGE screen.  It is too little for me to even think about getting it.
