T-Mobile G2 Discontinued, Sent To Smartphone Graveyard

That didn’t take long at all as we recently discovered the T-Mobile G2 was nearing the end of it’s shelf life and as of June 6th it’s officially gone forever. T-Mobile’s first 4G devices will be remembered for it’s highly rated QWERTY keyboard and of course the 4G capability it first introduced us to. We shall remember the G2 as we watch it sail away over the horizon to a smartphones final resting place. So long G2, you are gone but not forgotten.

Let’s hope there isn’t a long vacancy on the 4G QWERTY keyboard-ready end as we await any news on the myTouch 4G Slide.

I was wondering what happened? I haven’t been able to portable hotspot & tether the few times I tried recently. I’m rooted isn’t there a way around them disabling it, if you don’t have the tether plan? I haven’t had any problems with GPS causing rebooting. The few times I use Nav, it works perfectly

How in the seven hells are they still selling the MT Slide and discontinue the G2?? I could care less as MY slide is running Cyenogen Mod, but the fact remains, SOME PEOPLE WANT A FREAKIN KEYBOARD!! I could care less about TMO getting sold to the blue devil with some of these retarded decisions coming down…

Should I buy a used G2?  My dilemma:  HD2 died 2 days ago, touch screen not responsive, red indicator (moisture? how I don’t know, never in water), but I never really liked the phone anyway, and not sold on HTC in general.  I’m kinda hoping the Samsung Hercules (Galaxy S2?) will be out in the fall and when my full renew/discount is up.  I’ve never had a slide keyborad, but think I may like it.  Never had Android, but assume I’ll end up there (hate the Apple cult - even family and friends in it - j/k.)  Bottom line, I need a phone to tie me over to renewal/full discount time in 2012.  Should I go G2?  Is $250 too much/about right?

The G2 was the best phone period. It was fast, sturdy and it had a fucking keyboard. these new phones are great in all but some people want keyboards. i cant wait for the next phone in the g series. tmobile better make it happen soon or im switching to sprint (unlimited data)

I cannot believe what I am reading 4G on my Tmobile G2, was Urban Legend, it didn’t exist. Slowest phone I have ever owned. I live in a major metropolitan are and the most I ever see is 2G.

Learned my lesson, Tmobile sucks, never thought it was possible but ATT might actually improve Tmobile.
