LG Hopes To Release G2x Gingerbread Information In A Few Days

LG has continued to stick to it’s message of working fast and furious to push out a T-Mobile G2x Gingerbread update that contains various bug fixes. The problem is right now their message is something along the lines of “we know you are frustrated and we’re understanding so we hope to have some information to tell you soon.” What’s soon? Is it two days or two weeks as it’s already been a month that the G2x has been gone from T-Mobile.com. The time to tell us something has come and gone, now we’re moving into impatience.

Tonight’s information shows that LG hopes to deliver some information about the update in the next few days but not necessarily the update itself. As you can see in the Tweet above there is no indication that the “next few days” means an actual software release. So G2x owners are stuck playing the waiting game yet again. While I understand that neither T-Mobile nor LG wants to give a target date and miss it, perhaps it’s better than not saying anything at all.

I am so pissed at this stupid phone. I have gone through 6 of them already. I’m way past my 14 days and I am stuck with this crap phone. T-mobile won’t even send me a different phone to replace it anymore. They told me if I did not like the G2X anymore that they would sell me an HTC Sensation. I told them why would I need to but a new phone! They should give me a free phone but they won’t!

    Class action Lawsuit anyone?!!!

    • http://twitter.com/allblackstyle Steve Black

      Yeah, class action lawsuit.

How about you take the problem to LG since that is the phone’s manufacturer? T-Mobile is just the sales company. If your laptop quit working, would you contact Best Buy to get it fixed or would you go to Dell? Derrrr….

      • http://twitter.com/basilpuglisi Basil C. Puglisi

I pocntact bestbuy, not only did they sell it but BestBuy is all about customer experience and would honor the issue.

      • Micah

When you signed your contract you signed off on a “forced arbitration” clause.  This means instead of filing in court you are stuck with an arbitrator picked by T-Mobile who doesn’t have to issue a documented opinion.  Moreover, you have no access to discovery as you would in a normal court proceeding.

      • Rcmjr1560

A class action seems to be in order. I bought the LG P999(G2x) only because they were promising the update by the end of June. It is July 2 and no update. I have found an attorney who is chomping at the bit. My phone, the second one now, still shuts down. I have to remove and replace the battery to turn it back on.
If I don’t hear something by end of business 7/5, I think we will move forward.

    • http://twitter.com/basilpuglisi Basil C. Puglisi

Better you then me man, I can even get them to offer that I offered to buy the new phone at the web rates, not even asking it for free and tmobile told me NO, then they told me after my wife phone had issues, if we dont like it contact the manufacture, Anyone finds a lawyer that wants to class action lawsuit LG and tmobile, I am in!

I have the G2x and I have liked it.  My grandpa just got the sensation and the G2x is way better than that one in my mind.  Yah,  I have had some problems,  but we bought the first LG smart phone,  I was kinda expecting some glitches.  Yes,  I have had some problems,  but as long as they are fixing it,  I will wait and see.  I can say one thing.  This phone is WAY better then that crappy HTC HD2,  so I wouldn’t go on saying that HTC is blameless to releasing crap phones.  I also had just as many problems with my my touch 4g.  as far as little glitches go,  and they never told me they were working on a “fix” for that one.  However,  I do think that a wise carrier would slow down on releasing so many new phones and take their time making them perfect.  I would wait a few more months to get the new phone if my last pone and my new phone could be reliable 100% of the time,  wouldn’t you?

I have had the lg g2x about two months now and completely love this thing.. I am excited to see what this update brings to it! As far as competing phones just wait for the hercules from samsung around august! Other than that this phone is tops on the market over all in my personal opinion.

I hope this update resolves all the issues for those that kept the g2x. Unfortunately it won’t fix a bleeding screen. I would have probably kept the phone despite the OS issues if the screen didn’t bleed, but you just can’t fix hardware with a software update.

I love, love, love vanilla android, but this wasn’t quite vanilla enough. I seriously doubt you’ll see OS updates as fast as the Nexus line, the only true vanilla variety.

Flashed the Gingerbread leak – can’t be the final build…

    • Gsxrguy412

How did you root your g2x? I couldn’t get a stable download of superoneclick! Is it worth it?

      • Anonymous

I tried to leave the links but the site woudn’t allow it.  And hell yeah it’s worth it!  You’re gonna sit around for six months waiting on an update…  Go to unlockr dot com and search G2x,  it’s got you covered.  Once you’re rooted,  you’re going to need Titanium Back up premium so you can remove all apps you don’t want and back up apps you do want. And you need ROM Manager premium to install custom ROMS – both on the Android Market.  Be careful!

  • zps

this debacle is the exact reason we should all just buy nexus phones.  i intend to buy the nexus 3 and leave carrier ROM junk behind.

Any word of improved reception / battery life with the new GB update. As a seven year customer of T-mo I’ve never been so disappointed in them. My experience with the G2X has been the worst. Dropped calls, crappy call quality, terrible volume, shut downs, 4 hour battery life… I’m currently on a jailbroken iPhone4 and pretty happy to have service 24 hours a day – and have a battery that lasts me a day and a half. Still, missing some of the Android features, but what good are they if the phone doesn’t serve as a PHONE!

Man, I’m a big T-mobile fan but all of these “coming soon”, “just a few more weeks”, “Before XXXX”, is hurting their credibility.  I’d just as soon not have communication if all of the communication is just empty promises.

Guys chill. LG kept their promise about pushing 2.3 update to Optimus One lines and they did it. They pushed out a good update on time like what they said that the update would be in the summer. LG is keeping their promise don’t worry.

  • Wolphman007

Dave, thank you very much, i folowed your instructions and got my G2X rooted and flashed with Trinity Bionix2 which is a version of GB 2.3.3. I’ve never done this before and was kinda intimidated but it took my a couple hours and it turned out perfect so far. If you don’t mind, i’d like to post your istructions above on other forums? Thanks again!!!!

LG / T-MO.  Fail.   I am now seriously skeptical of both brands.

  • Rcmjr1560

LG needs to release a stable update now, and keep working on the big update. TMobile has sent only one replacement and won’t send another. My G2x shuts down at least twice a day. I have to remove and replace the battery to get it going again. Really great for business when I have to call my clients back and explain that I had to go through the routine to be able to use the phone again.

i hope you sent it back while in grace period or your stupid i did

I should of none better to get this phone. We people that bought this phone are getting tired of waiting on you two companies to do something good here. I’m sick of it. Wish I would of never bought this phone. THIS SUCKS!!!

T-mobile is aware of this issue for this device and is only willing to provide you with a warranty replace even thought that doesn’t fix the issue. FYI per a tmobile store rep, if they replace the phone more than 3 times, they have to replace the phone with a comparable device. Only problem is that you have to deal with the warranty department, then the loyalty department which are aware of the problem for this device and not that willing to assist you. I suggest that all lg g2x users should write a formal complaint via the Better Business Bureau, regarding this issue, since Tmobile nor LG is addressing the problem in a timely manner.

  • Hereford Dan

This is now way beyond ridiculous.I bought my G2X, full price, with assurances that the GB update would be forth coming in timely fashion. I’m expecting to hear that T-Mobile is pulling the dangling carrot and “has now decided not to update the G2X to GB”. What could possibly be causing such a long delay?

This is getting a big B.S, I got the phone a week after it came out.Sinva Slice that day I expected the GB update. T-Mobile said soon now they cancel it what’s wrong with them???
