Want 10 Reasons To Make The HTC Sensation (4G) Your Next Phone?

I’m not sure many of you need more than just two reasons to pick up the HTC Sensation when it arrives sometime over the “summer.” Still, HTC has put together this video that has a total of 10 reasons you should make the HTC Sensation your next device:

  1. Premium unibody construction gives the HTC Sensation a premium look
  2. Contour display – feels great in your hand, protects against dust and sand when face down on a table
  3. 4.3″ qHD display – 35% more pixels than a typical display, 16 x 9 true widescreen dimensions
  4. Powered by 1.2GHz dual core processor – seamless app switching, better flash rendering
  5. All New HTC Sense – More immersive than ever, weather comes to life, active lockscreen
  6. Instant Capture Camera – no shutter delay “don’t let timeless moments slip away”
  7. Full 1080p HD video recording, up to 30 frames per second, ensure video looks completely smooth and natural, stereo sound recording giving depth to creations
  8. View video on HDTV – “display your masterpiece wirelessly on your tv”
  9. Better email. Browsing enhancements and Wi-Fi printing
  10. HTC Watch – unprecedented movie experience, integrated into HTC Sense experience, start watching video while download completes

If you need 10 reasons and six minutes to convince you that the HTC Sensation needs to be your next device than today is your lucky day. Still, I can’t help but feel like the man who narrates this video does self help tapes and can lull anyone into a hypnotic state.

Soo getting this for my upgrade when it comes out!

  • http://twitter.com/NuoTang Nuo Tang

Hell ya, it’s my next phone.  But now I want my netflix too.

    • mmeyer4663

I got Netflix running on my HD2 (Running Froyo on NAND) last night with the apk over at XDA.  Hopefully it will work on the Sensation too!

  • xnifex

lmao I just sent the youtube link for this video right before this was posted.

  • Anonymous

Definitely isn’t the allegedly locked bootloaderrrrr … I need a keyboard though. Who is doing their MUSIC?! It has been FIERCE lately!

  • http://twitter.com/GDHussak GDHussak

And only one reason not to: http://androidcommunity.com/htc-sensation-dump-shows-signed-bootloader-20110513/ [Signed Bootloader].

While I don’t think this will deter me – it is definitely disappointing.

  • Turtle6988

I actually had a chance to play with this phone for a couple of minutes. It is a very nice phone. The person that was using said the only problem he had with it was that the phone sucks the battery pretty quickly. Of course I’m not sure if this was a final version as it did not have any T-mobile branding on the phone it self and I only saw T-Mobile TV in the apps. So hopefully the final build will be better on Battery life

  • http://twitter.com/jbjtkbw00 jbjtkbw00

OK, THAT video just made me j*zz in my pants.  Sorry for the crudeness, but DAMN!

  • Ferminmartin2003

Im certainly getting this phone I just need one more reason…when is its release date? Ive heard a rumored june 8 release so im crossing my fingers for that if it is true

  • http://twitter.com/justinmcnairy Miles Justin McNairy

my upgrade is due next year on April.  That mean at&t already take over T-Mobile, if it happen…

  • Meagan

How many of you understand that the HTC Sensation from Tmobile USA will only get EDGE speeds on AT&T, now and later on?  The longer Tmobile USA delays releasing their HTC Sensation, the less time the end user can enjoy the soon-to-be-defunct Tmobile 3G/4G bands that are in the HTC Sensation mobile.

The AT&T Samsung Infuse with a 4.5″ screen is looking brighter everyday, knowing that It’ll have faster speeds for a a long time…

I know Tmobile USA is ready to “Hasta la vista”, but come on Tmobile USA, release the HTC Sensation now!  You can roll in your AT&T money later…

    • Turtle6988

Are you sure about that. T-Mobile told us employees that they were going to be releasing phones that will be able to be used on ATT’s 3G network because they were planning on changing to a different spectrum band to try and free up space on the current 3G spectrum for LTE. You may want to check the specs on this phone to be sure.

      • Petey

… what make us believe your statement?

      • Meagan

        AT&T “Edge” happily ever after…
        http://www.tmonews.com/2011/04/t-mobile-says-g2x-does-not-have-quadband-hspa-disappoints/
Read Tmobile USA statement about the G2X oopsy…

It does not profit Tmobile USA to make a mobile with AT&T 3G or 4G bands.  It would not be a selling feature for Tmobile USA to say, buy the latest Tmobile mobile to use later on with AT&T 3G/4G when the takeover happens.

    • http://twitter.com/justinmcnairy Miles Justin McNairy

The Infuse 4g only have 1.2 GHz processor while the Sensation have 1.2 DUAL-CORE processor.  How can you that with a 4.5inch screen.  If the Infuse would have a dual core processor, that was going to be my next phone and having a 4.5 inch bigger than my HD2 (1 year and 1 month great experience!!)

    • http://twitter.com/#!/ImpyChick pantlesspenguin

But do *you* understand that even if this deal goes through, we won’t see any difference for a very long time?  And, even after the acquisition, it’s not like AT&T is just going to flip a switch  that will make our phones EDGE only.  It’s going to be a very slow change.

    • Setzer715

You don’t really know what you are talking about.  ATT does not have the capacity to instantly take on all of TMO’s customers.  It will take years to migrate everyone on to ATT’s network and AT LEAST 1 year before they even start from the day they sign the sale documents which is 8+ months from now.  Get the sensation, you’ll be fine.

  • Ironman56

does it have a notification LED light???

  • Anonymous

I am sold!.. when is it hitting T-mobile?

  • Cisa

I love this phone…but i am interested in what the so called “doubleshot” might have to offer

  • Moe

Will the htc sensation be able to play games that was made for tegra 2 devices?

  • Guest

Phones with locked bootloaders are a fail, and this has one.

  • Anonymous

Yup, this is the phone that will keep me with Tmobile. With any luck, it’ll be in our hands in about 30 days.

    • Petey

you should wait after 30 days… might get a better deal on the phone lol.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/ImpyChick pantlesspenguin

In your hands, maybe.  If I get it, I’ll get it the day it releases, which will most likely be June 8th :).

  • MattMJB0188

Can’t wait for the HTC Sensation.  Does having a locked bootloader mean you can’t load custom roms or root it?  If so, I can careless because I never root my phones.  June 8th couldn’t get here soon enough.  Was in the T-Mobile store the other night and the lady said she is going to a seminar on this phone June 1st.  :)

  • Anonymous

Once Netflix is confirmed for it maybe I’ll part with my G2…and that’s a big maybe.   but this phone seems pretty cool.

    • Anonymous

We’ve already got NetFlix on the G2!

      http://www.tmonews.com/2011/05/zomg-netflix-is-beginning-to-rollout-to-android-devices/

But yeah, I can see why the Sensation is attractive. I do wish it had a trackpad and keyboard, though. And stock Android as a bonus, WITHOUT the locked bootloader.

      • Anonymous

Lol, yeah i know its on the G2. I was playing with it yesterday.  Thats why I don’t want to part with it…but like you said, Sensation is really attractive.

  • Like_itnot

    I might be sending my G2X back…

    • Anonymous

If your not a gamer or the type who likes to root your phone or customize it then I would return the G2X aswell. However, I wouldn’t be returning the G2X for the Sensation. I would however return it for the most anticipated/most powerful phone this year. The SGSII.

  • Wunako_09

Part of me wants to, part of doesn’t… this phone looks amazing but the fact that it has a locked bootloader, HTC sense is nice and all but there’s a lot of it that I never end up usuing or deem uselss therefor taking space, maybe ill wait to see how ppl at XDA figure it out… besides I still love my G2 just sucks that its turning a green-ish color

    • http://www.facebook.com/PistolPat713 Michael Patrick

It’s Android, what other would suit the phone?

  • http://twitter.com/jbjtkbw00 jbjtkbw00

I know everyone wants a separate Netflix app, but I’ve been running Netflix via PlayOn for months. Yes, it does require the home pc to be on as a server, but my home pc IS my server, so that’s irrelevant. I get Netflix, Hulu, and scores of other channels in one easy-to-use application.

  • Anonymous

Well in less than 2 weeks we will hopefully get a US announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S II at their NY event  http://www.samsunghub.com/2011/05/04/samsung-schedules-an-event-on-may-24/

I REALLY hope to find out if that thing is coming to TMO before this Sensational phone comes out.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/ImpyChick pantlesspenguin

I’m in the same boat.  They both sound like awesome devices.  However, there have been some mentions of spotty gps on the SGS2 versions that are already out in other countries.  That makes me very hesitant to pick one up.  Right now I’m most likely going with the Sensation.  I think it’ll be a great upgrade to my MT4G.

      • Anonymous

Gps issues AGAIN!?!?…:- Well i just flashed the stock 2.2 on my Vibrant so im hoping the GPS will work proper when i leave work.

That could be an issue but not a deal breaker 4 me. Ill just have them give me a new phone if the GS2 is havin the same issue.

        • http://twitter.com/#!/ImpyChick pantlesspenguin

Hold the phone (heh) I may have spoken too soon.  I hadn’t actually read anything about it, I just heard someone report that they were getting bad GPS.  I just did a quick google search on SGS2 gps problems & couldn’t really find anything.  So, yay!  I still don’t know which phone I want lol.

        • http://ashn.myopenid.com/ Ash

          Flashing phones on the job?
          But don’t worry, I won’t tell your boss. ;)

        • Anonymous

           On break, on break :-)

      • Anonymous

I’ve heard nothing but good things about the GPS. Not to mention every review I’ve read said the GPS performed stellar. I’m sure the reviewers were definitely looking at the GPS hard considering Samsung’s mistake with the original Galaxy. Galaxy.

        • http://twitter.com/#!/ImpyChick pantlesspenguin

Yeah I clarified below.  I hadn’t actually read anything myself about the gps, I had just heard people talking about it in other forums.  Upon actually searching it myself, I didn’t find any posts at all regarding faulty gps on the SGS2.  My fault for spreading a rumor before checking the authenticity of it, myself :).

      • Anonymous

Can you provide a legit source for this?

        • Anonymous

Yea go read the XDA sub forum for the SGSII and you can see the user feedback or go search for the review Engadget did on the phone. I don’t have time to surf the web just because some needs proof. The SGSII is a better phone and the HTC fans have to deal with it. Also are you guys aware the Sensation only has 1gb of internal memory?

  • Anonymous

    CRAP!! bootloader locked.

  • Petey

that’s probably 10 reason why I might want the sensation. But the number one reason that’s holding me back from re-up my contract for this phone is the acquisition deal. Don’t want to re-up my contract knowing that the deal will go through and I’m stuck with at&t for the next 2 years. If there wasn’t any deal, or if this deal fail… I might reconsider getting this or might wait since something better will come out. :)

    • http://twitter.com/#!/ImpyChick pantlesspenguin

You wouldn’t be stuck w/ AT&T for 2 years.  You’d be stuck w/ them for like 6 months.  Remember, it’s going to take well over a year for anything to happen.  Also, from everything I’ve heard, AT&T will have to honor your current contract for the duration.  Want the Sensation?  Go for it :).

      • Petey

I might switch carrier. I don’t want to be with AT&T in the first place. (I was with AT&T Wireless then Cingular bought them out, and that why i left for T-Mobile). So my point is… I’m really depending on what will happen to the deal and I’ll base my decision on that.

        if it’s approve=i’m out,
        if it doesn’t=i’m staying.

It’s not about using this phone for 2 years, but signing a contract with AT&T.

      • TweetMo

Actually he’d be stuck for over a year according to recent reports. The deal is slated to commence in LESS THAN a year from now.

  • Anonymous

But your phone will operate the same for the duration of ur contract. THEN buy a new hexicore phone or jump ship.

Nothing to fear unless u plan on owning the same “outdated” phone for more than two years.

  • alt-mobile

That’s all great and it looks snazzy but tell me about the battery life.  None of this makes me want to buy the phone if it only works for half the day.

  • The camera key lover

    no camera key? c’mon!!

    • Petey

Yeh, I’m abit sad too… seems like some/most phone don’t have a camera dedicated button… sigh!

  • mmeyer4663

Anyone know if DLNA will do video over wireless from Sensation to HDTV or will it only do video over microUSB/HDMI cable?

    • Kiteman

DLNA is wireless to your DLNA supported TV or device.

    • Anonymous

yes it will show your movies, your home videos, pictures music you name it.  Unfortunately though I don’t think there is the ability to just navigate your phone entirely and view it on your TV yet.  For that you will need the HDMI hook up.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong

I want to get this, but I also want to wait for the Nexus 3. I have the Nexus One right now, and i honestly don’t want to leave pure vanilla android for a skinned version. My upgrade is in October so i wouldn’t mind waiting for the N3 around December.

    • allcentury

i’m in the EXACT same boat, love my n1, upgarde avail in October.  Hoping by then i can lock in another contract w/ T-Mo before anything happens (or doesn’t happen) with the merger.  I have unlimited loyalty at a steal :)

    • mikeyo

If it is on cyanogenmods list then i will have AOSP vanilla so no worries.

I’m waiting on the most powerful, most anticipated Android device this year and that is the SGSII. Yea yea I know. It will take Samsung forever to get a update out for it. However, it has a unlocked bootloader and will be upgraded by XDA long before the Sensation gets it’s official update.  Not to mention, the DEV support for the SGSII will outnumber the Sensation DEVS 20 to 1.

    • mikeyo

Nope. You are wrong in every aspect of your post.

      • Anonymous

I believe it was tweeted before it’s release by supercurio that the bootloader was unlocked and Chainfire on XDA had it rooted before the device was released in Europe.

        • Anonymous

right. just like the sgs4g has sooo many custom roms…like ZERO! its still on 2.2 biggest thing i hate about this phone.

        • Anonymous

Well, from what I’ve read, there’s already a custom ROM out for the SGSII. Dunno what’s up with the devs in the SGS4g community but they’re still pretty much alive and kicking in the Vibrant section (can’t speak on the other SGS phones though).

  • Randy Klein

This phone looks awesome.  Sadly, I wont be buying it.  I refuse to purchase a phone with a locked bootloader.  If I want someone to tell me how I can use my phone I’ll go buy an iphone.

    • http://www.facebook.com/thatsexyman Noor Mahmoud

Well, the G2 had a locked bootloader and it ended up being one of the best phones for custom roms and such.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1132322178 Gabriel Fernandez

I’m not buying this phone until I get a good idea on the battery life.

    • kfreeman

       1520 mah battery

  • http://www.absolutefiction.com Jed Tylman

    it does look good.
Only thing missing is a QWERTY version.
    I need a keyboard.
Why not a WP7 version too?

    • Carmen Diva

How exactly could this be a WP7 version?

      • http://www.absolutefiction.com Jed Tylman

The Sensation is and Android phone.
I’m hoping for an WP7 device with the same design.
        And a keyboard.

        • Carmen Diva

I agree :) Except while we are at it

Keep the same hardware specs except have it made by Samsung or Sony as I just don’t care for HTC’s designs as of late….

Save the keyboard…it’s 2011 and the screen is big enough without the need of one

and Of course replace Android OS with Windows Phone 7 :)

        • http://www.absolutefiction.com Jed Tylman

I’ve had the experience of the Touch Pro2 and I can’t imagine typing/editing word documents (which I do all the time) with the soft keyboard. It’s not so much the screen size, and I know the WP7 soft keyboard is exceptional, but there’s no substitute for full screen editing.

The only drawback, devices with keyboard are so unnecessarily thick it’s embarrassing for 2011.  :-)

        • Anonymous

           I agree a TP2 KB on a 4.3″ phone would be awesome.

  • http://profiles.google.com/yogageeta Bhagiratha das

This phone looks nice, but I wish the galaxy S2 will land on tmobile soon. If after March 24th, and Samsung doesn’t provide US release dates, I will seriously consider moving to ATT [again :)]. I will just get the UK model of the SGS2.

I have the G2x, but this phone is really misbehaving. My HD2 with Android 2.3.3 was working way better!

  • Carmen Diva

Had this been made by Sony or Samsung, I’d be interested in the hardware…

The hardware is blah and the UI/Software is lovely

    • SENSATIONISMINE!

had this been made by samsung, it would be cheap feeling with a crappy design….

  • http://hand-gadget.com Alex Nguyen

Want more reasons as to why you should buy the Sensation? http://wp.me/p1wchx-x

  • ATL Guy

WOW that is a gorgeous phone!
That will look good next to my Nexus.
This will probably replace my Mytouch 4g.

  • Anonymous

Man, this looks like a beaut!  Don’t worry about the locked bootloader that will get solved pretty quickly.  Even if it takes awhile I liked the espresso sense on the MyTouch 4G and it took me a long time to root it because i was happy with it.  This didn’t even talk about the upgrades to sense with facebook status when someone calls and the other tweaks they’ve done.  As far as you Samsung freaks are concerned, I just rooted my coworkers captivate and that thing is a pos!!!!

Those complaining about locking on a new contract, don’t get a contract.  Why is that so hard?  They offer you a phone off contract, your bill is cheaper, and you pay the phone off in 19 installments.  That’s what I did with the MyTouch 4g.  Then when this comes out, i’ll sell it, pay off the balance of what I owe, and do the installment thing again.  Tmobile would rather you not be on contract, the phone subsidies don’t make them much money at all.

  • SENSATIONISMINE!

still gonna get it… glad i held off on the mytouch 4g :P

    • Phonegeek

Wish I held off on the g2 smh :/

if the bootloader is locked, then im not getting it.  Its a great phone, but i love my roms too much.

Bootloader is locked but I still want it

What is the RECEPTION going to be like? Dismal like HTC usually delivers?

  • Anonymous

The camera censor is garbage, the microphone is horrible.
    Take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewmctC5gfvI

G2X beats the Sensation hands down in video and sound quality!

    • ColdFeet

Thanks for that clip! I’d like to see what it’s like compared to a Vibrant. I’ve always been impressed with Sammy cameras and dissappointed with HTC’s. I’ve always been one to tell people to get a *real* camera for vacatons and stuff but with my Vibrant, I don’t worry about having a camera with me all the time since it’s shots are beautiful. I printed up a shot (8×10) of my daughter on the golf course taken from my Vibrant and that sucker came out crystal clear. I heard somewhere that HTC did some work on their cameras so hoping that the still shots are a lot better than they used to be.

      • garet

except indoors Vibrant sucks I have a mytouch 4G and really pics are good enough indoors and outdoors light no light flash does wonders.

    • Poliver18

That is a good link for the comparison of the camera quality, however, have a look again at 03:51 on the video, the phones are labelled incorrectly!

      • Guest

It’s correctly labelled.  When you see the LG in the pic it’s the other phone taking the pic which is shown at the bottom.

    • https://me.yahoo.com/a/fouZ7oFpzIY7j5pa6Ef5saW5OvlO#fec3b kw320tw1@yahoo.com

HTC Sensation is slightly reddish and darker in white balance, while LG G2X is slightly yellowish and lighter in white balance.  In my honest option, reddish or yellowish and white balance issue is normal for all digital camera and can be adjusted, HOWEVER, HTC Sensation seems to have sharper image and better zoom. That is something cannot be adjusted.

they already have sense 3.0 running on current phones. so really the only benefit is the hardware which is honestly not something to run for. i wouldnt trade my HD7 for this phone.

      • jkinglacrosse

lol are you serious??? sense 3.0 is not running on any  phones right now….where is your info coming from, i can sense you have a love for the windows… lol jk jk

    • FreedomFone

Yeah, C’mon guys and just get used to your subscription lives. Live with the default OS the way HTC made it and don’t worry about freedom of ownership for your property. It’ll get old like it’s designed to and become obsolete like its designed to and you’ll want a new one, like … well, you get the point. I have my modded HD2 and my daughter has her modded G1. We have had them since about 4 montths after their release date as we could find enough people who were itching to upgrade 4 months later and got our phones for about $100 each.  Enjoy your $400 every 4-6 month lives with limited ROMs that allow you little customization.

/s — at least it’s Android so your freedom is 100 fold over other OSes IMO.  Now let’s see, do I boot up with Sense, Stock, Cyan, Droid, my custom Rom based on the AOSP that I’m not really good at making or something crazy like Windows Phone 7 or a beta 3.0 Android? Hmmm, decisions decisions. I think I’ll go with this new custom Rom I started using as the kernel tweaks show some significant improvement over stock. Glad HTC at least “used to” follow the design of Google which was to allow people to actually have ownership of their phone and operating system and freely collaborate and develop software together as a connected population.  I just have to deal with no FFC until HTC drops the stupid boot loader locking or until it’s hacked which could possibly take more then 30 secs. What happens when it’s locked behind hardware restrictions that force you take the phone in to your provider to have it opened up and connected to a proprietary device? Sure, the savy hacker will get his own cable, learn how to reverse engineer, and do homebrews but what about my daughter who used to enjoy the freedom of doing it simply with her micro usb and a single auto-installer? She has other interests then to do all that. I guess she just follows in line like a good sheep does?

  • Jdmap1

unlock the bootloader or I’ll go to Sammy.

  • Basilbet

if the battery life isnt significantly longer lasting than the desire HD, then all these stunning specs are a waste of time

  • Noel

Nice vidoes for those who still need convincing abt this mega device. I have long been sold since i read the specs and saw likl clips. HTC is on to something with this device…i will definately get one. It was between this or the Galaxy S2 but read somewhere where a GS2 owner complaining abt the performance of the device. But i llove HTC so Sensation it is.

  • Anonymous

One fundamental reason why all those 10 reasons get trumped!

    Signed Bootloader == FLOP

HTC, do not tie Android’s hands,  if you do you will loose  your lead.
