T-Mobile Announces HTC Sensation 4G “By June 15th!”

A few hours after this was posted T-Mobile posted the pricing and we’ve added a new post to the blog! In case anyone missed it the Sensation 4G will be $199.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.

T-Mobile promised “Sensational” news tonight and we have now an official release date of the HTC Sensation 4G “by June 15th” through official T-Mobile channels and a few days earlier at Walmart on June 12th. While it’s a week later after the often rumored June 8th launch we’re ok with waiting just a few more days! Unfortunately no price was provided. Check out the press release below.

T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced the upcoming availability of the HTC Sensation 4G. Expected to be available by June 15, and exclusively from T-Mobile, the HTC Sensation 4G is T-Mobile’s most powerful smartphone, delivering the latest Android™ 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system with the hallmark HTC Sense™ experience and lightning-fast speeds with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor paired with access to America’s Largest 4G Network.

T-Mobile’s high-speed 4G network continues to expand and is now available in 184 markets, reaching more than 200 million people nationwide. With the HTC Sensation 4G, T-Mobile customers in these areas can take advantage of 4G speeds as they download and watch premium entertainment on the device’s 4.3-inch qHD display virtually anytime, anywhere, without waiting.

“The HTC Sensation 4G’s already powerful performance is elevated by T-Mobile’s high-speed 4G network, offering customers quick download speeds, seamless Web browsing, and easy access to their favorite movies,” said Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president, marketing,

T-Mobile USA. “The sophisticated and innovative design of the HTC Sensation 4G complements its rich entertainment features, making it a must-have for high-end smartphone fans.”

Designed and manufactured by HTC, the Sensation 4G features a premium design with rounded edges, aluminum unibody construction and T-Mobile’s first 4.3-inch qHD touch-screen display. The HTC Sensation 4G delivers a quality on-the-go entertainment experience with easy access to top movie titles, TV programs, music and more via the following preloaded applications:

  • HTC Watch™: A library of the latest, premium movies and TV shows available for rent or purchase using innovative progressive download technology
  • HTC Listen™: A VIP pass to a library of millions of songs with the freedom to transfer purchases to another device or computer
  • T-Mobile® TV: A free selection of live and on-demand TV including news, sports and kids programming, plus full episodes of popular shows
  • T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik™: Video conversations with friends and family through T-Mobile’s network and over Wi-Fi
  • Slacker Radio: Free, personalized radio with over 150 genre stations and the ability to create your own stations

“The HTC Sensation 4G defines the perfect balance of power and design. Its dual-core processor and qHD screen place it firmly in the superphone class, but its sleek machined aluminum housing and contoured display give it an in-hand feel unlike any superphone that has come before it,” said Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC Americas. “HTC’s history of working with T-Mobile to bring innovative new services to market continues with the HTC Sensation 4G, the first device anywhere to offer HTC Listen, an innovative new mobile music service.”

The HTC Sensation 4G comes equipped with the latest HTC Sense™ experience which includes new features and enhancements such as a customizable lock screen, allowing customers to quickly jump to their favorite features and applications with the same gesture typically used to unlock the phone. The HTC Sensation 4G also offers access to more than 200,000 applications available on Android Market™ and integration with popular Google services such as Gmail™, Google Maps™ with Places and Navigation, YouTube®, and more.

For capturing and sharing memories in real time, the HTC Sensation 4G features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual LED flash, digital zoom and auto-focus, as well as a front-facing camera and 1080p HD video recorder. With DLNA compatibility, HTC Sensation 4G customers can wirelessly connect to a compatible HDTV or other DLNA device for streaming full HD video content.

What do you mean by “Get over it.”?  I don’t see any reason why not to vent some displeasure at the way T-mobile worked this out.

        • Drivethruboy168

Dude… there wasn’t even an official release date for it to have been delayed! Chill out everyone!

    • Anonymous

At least it’s not WalMart exclusive like the Nexus S was to Best Buy. So seriously get over it.

If Tmobile REALLY wants to treat their customers well…they will offer everyone who’s having the G2X problems this phone as a replacement, instead of the Samsuck 4G (who’s specs aren’t even close to the G2X’s)

    • J. Williams

What issues are you having with your g2x? I don’t have any.

  • And still no Pre orders allowed

  • jtuttah

I currently have a MyTouch3g…. totally destroyed by the froyo update. haha. this will probably be my next phone. wonder if the father’s day sale will include this? hmm

    • Jamie Sigaran

haha same prob here. The froyo update has given my phone a mind of its own. My contract is up in late July and I’m still contemplating on what phone to upgrade next and the HTC Sensation may be for me… or not…if Hercules shows up sooner than expected.

      • jtuttah

I really don’t think I can stand waiting any longer…. argghhhh! buyer’s remorse always seems to find me somehow…..

        • Anonymous

I bought a MT4G off contract just because I couldn’t stand it anymore (way back on the 4G’s release date). I’m so glad I didn’t renew then because I’m renewing my contract for the Sensation!

  • Bjh2379

    2Weeks!!!!!!!!! Grrrr

  • Jarrod

They haven’t said anything about it on Twitter?

  • 4G

Looks like I’ll be going to wally world or targae for this one

  • Olographics28

    WTF!!!!!!!!!
I sold my G2X yesterday and now I have to wait 2 weeks for this fu….ing phone?????
Why they delay the release one more week?
Maybe I will go to Sprint for the EVO 3D, is only one week after the sensation release, after all, is only one week, right?

    • What I want to know is why would you sell your phone BEFORE you bought another one. Now you have no  f…ing phone at all.

    • Datnig

lol should’ve waited for the announcement. that or you should have told htc that you had already sold your phone, so they should hurry up so you can buy it

      • Anonymous

        LOL

    • considering they never gave a release date and everything else was rumor and speculation, I would say it was not delay.

    • jarjon76

You would have been better off placing the blame on yourself for foolishly selling your phone before you purchased another. HTC doesn’t have to cater to stupidity.

    • dont worry i sold my g2x on sat night for 375, why wait? im not gonna miss out on a opportunity to get rid of it bc now i have the money. i just now have to wait a little while longer yea it sucks big time but what r u gonna do wait till the 15th to put an ad up and then u may not get a buyer for god knows how long.

  • jp

can we do upgrades at walmart?

  • Dalemurphy03

    Sensation link doesn’t work…

  • M Zapata80

Geez…I thought it’s gonna be released on the 8th. But waiting for one more extra week doesn’t sound that bad. I’m still gonna wait and get one right away. Have been waiting forever!

      • NAV

I couldnt get my plan upgraded since they dont deal wirth business planz!

  • Rcwillrun

It does say” by June 15th” so it could still come around June 8th… right?

    • Antdizzo

thats another weird part, “BY june 15th”? wth are they doing?!

      • guest

        being douches of course.

    • Girth Brooks

Sometimes the stores start selling them early once they have the inventory and it’s in their POS system

  • yea yea

atleast we have a date. tmobile usually post there phones on there web page that says coming soon. when it is posted it is about a week before it comes out

  • Demmelha

Any word on the bootloader status?

  • Galaxys

I want this bad boy, but will pass if the Bootloader is locked!

    • who the eff cares! just use this beauty the way it was intended!

      • Ed

Who cares? Uh, it is my device, I will use it how I see fit. STFU idiot.

        • Thomas Gary

HTC did announce that they were starting to keep bootloaders unlocked… sooo it may be

  • This will be my new main phone. Been wanting this since it was codenamed the Pyramid. I might even keep this phone until that new Asus Tablet/Phone with Ice Cream comes out in December.

  • jarjon76

T-Mobile just tweeted that it will be $199, after a $50 mail in rebate (with a 2 yr of course). I thought it was going to be $299. Glad I was wrong!

  • rameel

“Some stores may offer it sooner. Depends on location. But all will have it by 6/15.” TWEETED BY TMOBILE!!! YESSS JUNE 8th!!

  • If I get this – will it be better than my MyTouch 3G?  Will I notice any reak difference in performance?

    • Iankphone

yes. Or try it out in-store. My wife has my old mt3g, and it’s a dog compared to my nexus1. The sensation should be even faster if the htc sense bloat doesn’t drag it down.

The difference will be incredibly massive. It’ll be like getting hit by a truck that’s how big the difference is.

  • ALOHA

what a perfect bday gift for me june 15 baby!!!!!

-and does anyone know the off contract price?!?!?!

    • Ash

Most likely $500 like the other high end T-mo phones.

      • Aloha

        Thanks for the info

        • Actually the LG G2x is in the $600 range off contract, I believe.

        • rameel

          actually its only 500

    • LA Boi 93

      $549.99 so 550

  • Rey Martinez

how will we know when a store nearby gets the sensation..
should we just start calling everyday? o.O

  • Well, the Sidekick 4G was fun while I had it.

  • Iankphone

Alas, the side mounted charge port makes this a no go. Need to be able to drop into a charging dock in the car as I do with my current phone. Phone docks, pairs with car and tasker sets up for mobile audio goodness with no input from me while the cradle (from ptoclip) charges it.

  • buddyluv

Such a poor move Tmo. Your going to release this on the 15th, while the Shack and Wally World (Wal Mart) has plans to start sales of this device on the 12th. One key features for a successful sale of a product is the release date. The longer you take, the greater chance your competitors have to steal your thunder; especially when your competitors has better marketing adds than you do.

  • Meagan

How much is the Tmobile HTC Sensation going to cost existing Tmobile customers?

Is the Tmobile HTC Sensation future-proof?  There is NO info mention on the mhz bands.

    • It is not future proof but you’ll get through your two year contract without needing to worry about that.

      • guest

2 years is future proof in this world!

  • Meagan

Wonder if everyone is not releasing toys days before/after (June 6-10 2011) of WWDC to not drown in Apples publicity by the media.

  • HaVoKTEK

    Gotta get this in………….

Save that, HTC……TMO just get my Samsung SGS II…Until then I’m savin’ my duckies and keeping low key!!

  • Ldelossantos1107

Has anyone tried to send an email to HTC regarding sensation’s bootloader? Theres a chance but  very small one that they moved the 8th release date to the 15th. However I truly doubt that.

  • Inoc

Sensation delayed 1 week to allow Gingerbread update on G2X to roll out in advance, TMO wants G2X to have official GB and not have it left behind

Can you do video out through HDMI cable to a TV? The G2X can do that… I am hoping this phone has that capability as well.

      • TweetMo

HDMI goes through the microUSB to a TV, so “Yes.”
