T-Mobile Temporarily Suspends Bobsled Service?

In a somewhat shocking and yet quiet announcement T-Mobile said through the Bobsled Facebook page they have “temporarily suspended” the Bobsled service. Hinting toward a possible conflict with Facebook over design questions and an assurance that Bobsled is “clearly differentiated” as something that is not an official Facebook property.

Bobsled users, are there any out of you there? While this was quite the leap for T-Mobile into the Facebook realm, other than a single press release I haven’t heard much about the Bobsled platform in the week since. I’ve downloaded the service but have yet to find anyone to call.

Can someone explain this to me? Why would anyone use this Bobsled Service when it basically will cause you to reach the 5GB cap and be throttled faster?

Why would using it from my PC cause me to hit a cap on my cellphone?

I installed it at home, and was surprised to get a “Bobsled has stopped working, do you want to tell Microsoft?” popup this weekend. Now I think I know why. Still haven’t actually tried it out, but I did see the “Voice chat” link in the Facebook chat list.

Currently it is a pc only app. Video and a phone app are planned future features.

Do you even know what you’re talking about? They are talking about a Facebook application on the PC not a phone app.

It’s an app for the PC, not the phone!

ha ha … keep it up T-Mobile. 1st u announce unlimited even more plus (with 2GB cap) for $59 and then you cancel it before starting it. Now this … Keep it up folks. In case you have not heard, Sprint is partnering with Google Voice.

You sure T-Mobile announced that to the public? Pretty sure it was all internal and any “announcements” were nothing more than internal memos. They have every right to change things around before they’re publicly announced.

As for Bobsled – yeah, you’d kind of think they’d of fully vetted it with Facebook prior to launching the service. Nothing worse than having to roll back something you just released (albeit without much fanfare).

I think its great how Tmo is innovating and being proactive as of late. This is great for the consumer, can’t wait till they get this sorted out. I really hope AT&T doesn’t acquire Tmo, all this goodness will go to waste with them. All I gotta say is UMA rocks and Tmo is the only US carrier to have it Booyaah!!!

This Facebook service was just a belated April Fools joke from Tmobile, right? Why would anyone use the name Bobsled for a Facebook calling service? Releasing the service in SPRING with that name. Sounds like Tmobile is long overdue for a revamp of their Marketing dept.

The naming of Tmobile mobiles confuses people.
The naming of Tmobile plans confuses people.
Don’t stop there, confuse them with a Facebook service name too.
Sadly Tmobile could do so much better, with a better image all around.

They’re german, english is not their first language maybe something is getting lost in translation.

Actually the TMO that is being referred to here is Headquartered in Seattle, WA and the employees are very much English speakers. #noexcuses
