Meh….I think I will wait….Looks like T-Mo is dumping off old inventory for the new (hopefully) plethora of HTC devices coming our way….I will be pissed if I buy one of these devices and they offer a spanking brand new one at damn near the same price….

    MWC can’t come fast enough…

  • RoscoeP

So, with this promotion I can now buy each of these phones at FULL price and then wait for a gift card for $100? HOORAY. It’s just a shame that stores (Costco, Best Buy Mobile, others) have been offering these phones at half-price with no need to wait for a rebate, AND the G2 was free through customer retention a couple weeks ago. Another seemly good deal for the uninformed masses, another craptastic runaround for the rest of us.

    • butnakedavenger

uh.. sounds more like pay $200 and get $100 back making them half of their 2 year contract price. A great deal for folks who couldn’t take advantage of the BoGo because they only have one line.

Think about it.. would $500 for a phone with $100 back make them 50% off? Nope. That’s 20% off buddy. Math!

The real question is this: how are they going to work the Slide into this 50% off deal?

      • RoscoeP

Since I’m eligible for an upgrade, I could go to Best Buy, not that I’d want to, and get a MyTouch 4G RIGHT NOW for $99. If I were to buy one from T-Mobile during the promotion it would be $199 plus a $100 gift card, though I’d have to wait for that. I’d rather have the savings now and the cash in hand. There’s no incentive to wait, unless you just love their customer service so much you want to buy it from them. Likewise with the G2; why get a G2 for half off $200 when it was FREE not two weeks ago?

I don’t give a damn about BOGO. That’s just their way to get two people to commit to a two-year contract. I’m saying there’s no incentive for the consumer to buy through T-Mobile.

        Also, your logic is poor.

        • butnakedavenger

where is the flaw in my logic? Point it out to me please.

As for the G2, a customer would want to get one half off because flux capacitors are a thing of fiction, and so they can’t travel back to two weeks ago to get the phone for FREE. There’s the flaw in your logic.

How dare a business offer up a deal like BOGO in an attempt to turn a profit!? The bastards! Multiple two year contracts is what they were going for all along… how has nobody seen this??

You could go to Best Buy… but apparently you don’t want to. So $100 MIR it is. Just pick the lesser of two evils man. There’s no need to get all wound up and hurt.

Again with the mail-in scam. Same old BS. I don’t think I will ever buy a phone through a carrier again.

I’m with ya. I’ve worked retail for many years and one thing I’ve learned is that “Rebate” is a huge money maker for the companies. For one you have to make sure all your paper work is fill out correctly or no rebate. All the correct paperwork must be inculded or no rebate. It must be sent in on time and with correct postage or no rebate. All these things must be done in order for you to receive your rebate, and your rebate won’t arive untill at least 6 weeks. This is why a lot of companies do this. They promote the price of the product with the “Rebate” price to lure you in instead of just giving you the sales price. They’re always looking for ways to seperate you from your money. And you know what they say about a fool and his money?

I took a Best Buy Mobile ad for the HD7 for $99.99 into a TMobile store in mid December. I simply said, “Really don’t want fight the mall crowds and give my business to Best Buy if you can match this price.” The store rep obliged. Sometimes its that simple.

    • http://twitter.com/Lawless_1 Lawless_1

Back last year when T-mobile did the free phones to new customers on Fathers Day Amazon did it too only they allowed existing customers to upgrade (if qualified) for free too. I really wanted the Mytouch Slide at the time but they were sold out of them so I called customer care and after about 20 minutes my free Mytouch Slide was on its way.

So do we get 50% off and then a 100$ gift card…..or just a 100$ gift card

    • Davidohio

The $100 rebate is 50% off the $200 smartphone. So no, you don’t get 50% off the $200 phone and then a $100 gift card. If that were the case you would get a free phone after rebate. It is 50%off the device after rebate.

  • Matt A

    Rebates are a SCAM!!! >:-(

So, what did the fine people in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Dade County do to not qualify for this rebate?

    • butnakedavenger

Certain states/cities have their own specific laws in place regarding things like these. It sounds funky, but companies sometimes aren’t allowed to offer deals because of the local laws. And sometimes those states/cities make out like bandits because of their laws. It’s very possible that those areas have rules against MIRs (i’m a philadelphia resident, so i have no idea).

Every now and then we’ll get a communication (much like the one above) that tells us which areas a deal won’t be applying to.

I don’t know, but that’s incredibly weird isn’t it? At least I’m not in dade county!

        Hey.

I am in FLA and I saw this dude at a SBUX using a Rocket as a mifi taking on an Ipod Touch 4g. He told me he was using Skype. The video was awesome. I found in network in nothing flat he let me down load a ppt presentation. Superfast. The mifi was not slick like Sprint with the stick “sticking out” but he did it for under $100 with the help of his friendly t-mobile rep.

        So, who needs an iphone!

In RI, CT and DC FL we have to give instant rebates to follow advertising laws. If we advertise at 50% off, then the customer gets 50% off at time of purchase. Thats why the mail in rebate doesnt apply.

      • pookie

uhmm I live in Dade County FL and Mail in Rebates are available here. there must be another reason

The unlimited web is required for the rebate which means that after you get the rebate you can drop to the 200 mb web. Ultimately, TMO doesn’t care what kind of web you have, just as long as you have it.

Tmo/HTC please bring an updated MT4G with upgraded HSPA+, 4″ Screen, HDMI out, HD front facing cam, 1080p Recording/viewing and a better screen like the SMOLED.

HTC should release an Nexus Two and show Samsung and T-mobile how bad they suck. There is no way I will purchase a Nexus S after owning a Nexus One. HTC has shown us what there are to do. Come on HTC let kick some _ss…. You can do it for sure.
