Samsung Galaxy Tab In Two Minutes Of Promotional Glory

For some of you the Samsung Galaxy Tab is going to be a no go based on the lack of voice cabilities but for many of you the Galaxy Tab is a perfect complement to your Android collection. It’s small, it’s nimble and apparently its perfect for the back pocket of a pair of jeans. We’re still unsure just when T-Mobile is going to be dropping this bad boy, but expectations are for the holiday shopping season. In the meantime, until we manage to find links to a T-Mobile branded variant, enjoy two minutes of Samsung sponsored glory.

    • blablabla

wtf. It’s not tmobile’s fault it has no voice. The Galaxy Tab has NO VOICE period no matter what carrier. It’s just a frikking tablet it’s not a cell phone.

    • Brandon

      you’re an idiot.

    • FunkmasterC

If there was ever a comment for the managing editor to delete… We don’t need to see this immature, obscene comment from someone with an IQ of around 20. T-mo won’t give him voice on his tablet and Tmonews should not give him a voice on their site.

      “I’m just sayin…..”

      • David, Managing Editor

It has been deleted for wasting everyone time with unnecessary vulgarity!

        • FunkmasterC

          Thank you!!

  • alex32

Nice..but I am eagerly waiting for some G2 news. This is the week I suspect that Tmobile will say something about pre orders (:

    • alex32

      *expect
      oops

    • Chad

I agree with Alex, the Tab is nice, a little too big, and lacks voice but still an ok device….. but time to jump back on G2 news, I’m hoping for preorders this week as well

    • Foxeh

I’m holding you to it! I do hope you’re right, though. September grows long in the tooth.

Of course depending on how much they charge I may opt to get a phone elsewhere anyway if it’s only a matter of a week or two. We’ll see.

  • Ryan

Not going to be HSPA+ or 4g on the other carriers… Big disappointment.

  • Myles

Honestly, I think this is definitely a positive for T-Mobile. I’m a sales rep and get people asking about tablets every so often, although it doesn’t have voice capabilities per se, there are still plenty of ways to communicate on this thing. 7″ is a good size as it makes is portable and still an enjoyable media expierience. My only question is will it be HSPA+ compatible?

    • FunkmasterC

I agree. I may just have to buy one – these look nice. The promo video has me much more excited than my pending G2 purchase (the wait is getting annoying).

(steps on soapbox – this will be short) Okay – I signed up for news on the G2 page from T-Mobile – absolutely nothing has arrived in my inbox. They didn’t even send an email when it wend up on their product page. I support T-mo 100% and am excited about the G2, but their marketing department is a GINOURMOUS FAIL! (steps off soapbox).

It would be cool if T-mo would let you tether one of these with your existing data plan from lets say a G2…

Either way – I am happy to see T-mo getting this.

      • Yyevo

That’s actually a good idea FunkmasterC. One price for all data. You have an Android phone, a feature phone and a tablet, with one data plan for all of them.

Coming this Spring, T-Mobile announces the MyData plan. One plan to internets them all!

      • http://rivercityoffroad.com Marcus

Not to derail this completely, but I agree with the updates. I signed up for info on the Vibrant and received nothing and the same thing is happening with the G2.

I drive by a billboard every morning and night for Verizon and I think that it is beginning to taunt me! LOL! I’m a gung ho T-Mobile fan…that was a joke.

      • ogopogo

Same here. Signed up for updates on the G2 – nothing. Also checked SPAM/JUNK folder, nothing there either.

      • Steve Jobless

(Grabs a pitchfork and torch) Funkmaster, your whole written enactment was a GINORMOUS FAIL! (Chucks pitchfork over jailhouse wall with a Galaxy Tab attached, hoping it won’t hit a gaurd on the way down. Then is wondering why am I writting this out if it really isn’t happening just like the whole soapbox FAIL.)

      • FunkmasterC

@Steve Jobless: I can see why you chose your name. In addition to being unemployed, you must not have any friends either. What’s your point? Did you eat acid for breakfast?

    • Anthony

Dude, every carrier is getting it so it’s not a big deal for T-Mobile. I suppose it could be somewhat, but only in the sense that they aren’t being left out.

    • zazou

No, it will not be hspa+ compatible…

  • abel2fresh4u

T-Mobile G2 news please!!!!!!!. i need to know if its going to be worth the waiting.

  • Jon

I just find it odd that they show people video-chatting while also telling us it won’t be voice-capable. What’s up with that? Sign language? Read my lips?

    • cholo

voice capable for making phone calls, video chatting is another ballpark duh

  • RCJ2002

I’m getting one as soon as they are available.

  • cellswag5

this tab is cool. just hope they dont mess up the price an data plans. keep it low people will buy. also where is the G2 news i guess its not ropping until oct.6 or later.

  • Vision77

If, this comes with video chat capabilities, then voice(meaning it has a mic) is a given right?….I say root the G-Tab install sipdroid and make free calls. Damn if this does have video chat capabilities then I may have some decisions to make….this or the new ipod touch….Plus in the coming months there will be plenty of full featured Android tabs available for our consumption. No voice no biggie we’ll have a quite a few option soon…oh and just to shake things up a little bit: HTC tab (cough, cough) ;P

  • http://out ov1

if u have a smart phone what’s the NEED for a tablet. Don’t get me wrong I think it looks great but if it does everything my phone does and nothing more then why would we get it
Now we all would take an extra 3 inches but we all don’t need it. Mthd or g2 news please

  • NiiDiddy

Not bad at all. Sticking stuffer for sure…i’ll get two for christmas-one for myself and the other for my wife….assuming no other more superior tablets drop before then. My purchase date: Black Friday!

  • Will

Who in the world has back pockets that big?

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Well I dunno about back pockets, but Steve Jobs has side pockets big enough for the iPad, so I would think the Tab won’t be an issue.

  • http://out ov1

Another thought I think a good add on for this tablet would be to hook it up with satellite radio and on star if your gonna make a docking station for the car. This way it does something’s that your phone doesn’t do that would give it a great selling point. Samsung when u make money off of my ideal I’d like big bills please

  • pimpstrong

:43 is that Windows OS? :-P

  • Barry

I could’ve sworn this video was in the other article.

  • tato22

nice cant wait for it to come out

  • Robert

Not interested in any Samsung product after the Vibrant issues. I did spend 30 minutes on the phone with T-Mo this morning complaining about their G2 website sign ups and lack of response. Not even an email or text acknowledgment that sign up was accepted is just plain wrong. I’m not sure my complaint didn’t fall on deaf ears.

  • Wilma Flintstone

Why do you need voice capabilities if it has Video Chat (and a VERY clear and smooth one at that. FFC’s Rock!!!)? Or do you mean by “Voice Capabilities” the phone feature instead of doing calls over VOip?

  • Christian

Though I don’t like that this won’t have voice option, I might accept this if it can do video chat… all my conversations will be force to video but I rarely call anyone anyways… Just need it for family to call. So far I like this Tab!

  • asdf

It doesn’t support native voice, but will it be able to SMS using traditional means? (not some hack or special app)

  • Joshuakprice1

Looks nice, but I think I’ll pass. I’m waiting for notion ink adam, or maybe an htc tablet. Besides, 7 inches is just too small. If you are going to have a tablet, you may as well have a full sized one, its already too big for a phone.

  • Deke218

    A CNET Hands on.

  • JP

Can’t wait. I travel about 8 months out of the year, and this would make a great companion, rather than pulling out my laptop every time I want to do something. Probably use it more as a media player than anything. Definitely beats watching a movie on my hacked iphone.

There’s a lot of posts that have said this. If the Tab has video calling, it means it has a MIC. Use GV, Fring or Skype. Not a big deal. If it is, then pull your phone out and use that.

  • itbehot

    *cough* Google Voice *Cough*

  • Vibrant Addict

After seeing this ad I’m actually tempted in purchasing one. Not sure what I would use it for since I always have my laptop or phone on me. BUT, this looks mighty nice. I like the size, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to pocket it easily in say cargo pants pocket?

  • dell can still suck it

VOICE IS STILL THE KILLER APPLICATION ON A MOBILE CARRIER! DUH! THE GALAXY TAB SERIES IS A PLANET OF THE APES MONKEYS TO HUMANAS EVOLUTION ALA EVO FOR ALL. IT IS A LIBERATION DEVICE. HOW COULD ONE WHO IS A MOBILE WORKER NOT WANT ONE OF THESE. IF IT IS A CONSUMPTION DEVICE ONLY HOW CAN IT COMPETE WITH THE IPAD? IF IT IS A PHONE, LAPTOP, CONSUMPTION, AND WEAPON FOR BUSINESS HOW CAN APPLE AND THE IPOD COMPETE?

DELL U CAN STILL SUCK IT FOR NOT OPENING THE AWS BANDS ON THE STREAK.
