Radio Shack Dropping The T-Mobile G2 On October 3rd?

While we’re busy behind the scenes combining some of todays unboxing pics and waiting for videos to come our way, this little bit of news came to our attention. Radio Shack is apparently ready to drop sales of the T-Mobile G2 a few days earlier than T-Mobile itself with sales starting October 3rd! So while many of you are going back and forth about arrival dates, the rest of you who haven’t yet pre-ordered but still want to pick up the phone a little early can seemingly head down to your local Radio Shack this Sunday and score yourself a G2!

Don’t forget, for new customers this is coming in at $149.99!!

Like some others, I wanna see the specs on the MyTouch HD before I jump on this.. I can wait 1 more month before I make a 2 year commitment

    • ogopogo

I’m in the same boat. We’ve waited this long already. Another month won’t kill me. If I find that the MTHD sucks, I can always just get a G2 – better yet, it will probably be part of a BOGO deal at that point.

Getting awfully close to Christmas. I can see prices drop for the holiday season. I’m glad that I’m waiting.

    • XfooYen

Yep. Waiting for the MyTouch HD. In the meantime, I think my wife wants the G2 because of the keyboard so I might get to have MyTouch cake and eat it G2.

I can’t believe you just posted a link to another site for something that came from this site! For shame!

I already pre-ordered mine from tmobile, it sucks that i would get mine after some people who just walk into radio shack but im still happy that customer loyalty dropped the shipping, rebate, and upgrade fee.

    • Want2CBetter

You will probably get yours sooner than Sunday. Check http://www.ups.com – Track by reference number, put in your 10 digit phone number (no dashes) and you should be given the date your phone will get to you :)

    • kentuckygator

I am 3 months away from a full upgrade. Tmobile has never shown me any customer loyalty and I have been with them since they were powertel! I’ve talked to 3 reps (2 in store one over the phone) and they all tell me to wait for my full upgrade.

Any strategy tips, when talking to them?

      • Jrsykind

Be prepared to leave and talk to Customer retention.

  • Carlos

Well I will certainly be trying comes Sunday…

  • oh no tmo

Talked to loyalty about getting the phone today, they offered it to me for $204 after instant rebate [Upgrade]… pretty crap deal esp. since their Authorized dealers have it for less.

I’ll wait and see how this goes. If their Authorized dealers have it for less they [T-mo] will almost certainly drop the price… I think Tmobile is just trying to milk w/e $$ they can out of their first decent [exclusive] phone release in some time.

and before says something, the HD2 was pathetic.

ok anyone wanna help me out with an answer on this… i’m only up for EARLY upgrade (cause i still have until july 2011 on my contract)… a t-mobile phone rep told me that means i can buy the G2 on release day for $250 and adding 2 more years to my contract (so basically just can’t get the additional $50 rebate because its early upgrade)… she heres my question… what if i go into Radio Shack on October 3rd (assuming they really are selling it early)… could I buy one with my early upgrade, and how much would it be? I’d pay the 250 if thats what it is, if i’d be able to buy one for that. if its even less, that would be even better of course.

    any ideas?

I have tried to do the same thing also, but i went to the Wireless Advocates inside of Costco. They were able to do it, but it took a few minutes because they had to call into T-Mobile and verify the partial upgrade because their system didn’t automatically show it. Their system only showed people eligible for full upgrades. I have never purchased via Radio Shack before and not sure if you’ll run into the same issue. I would call them and ask if they normally do partial upgrades in their system?

For anyone curious, Wirefly has the same deal: $149 for new customers, $199 for existing, with no rebates, tax, or shipping:

Anyone know if EM+ customers can grab the phone at radio shack using the equipment installment plan?

  • http://www.t3technologies.info T3technologies

Check your order on the T-Mobile Website using the order number you received via email when you did the pre-order. If it says completed, call the toll free number at the top of that page and ask them for a shipping number to see when UPS has you scheduled for delivery. I am getting mine on the 1st.

  • drunkjimmy

I too am getting mine on the first. They just texted me the UPS tracking number today.

  • Foxeh

Ack, $149.99 for new customers only. That might throw a wrench in my price matching plans.

  • samvonac

Does anyone know if adding a new line to an existing family plan consitutes a new account and thus the 149 price?

I tries this on wirefly.com and the price came to 249 so wondering if it is the same for radio shack.

  • bbcrisp_03
