Wow I’m back and I see mailman trolling again. Does that guy even go to college like he said he is? I mean he s on here everyday like he’s got no homework to do? Leave already last time i heard you was leaving on the 28th..why all the dates change? You haven’t used the phone do stop bashing..its nice to read reviews but are you going to listen to everything people wrote? those are critics..kind of like o this movie sucks..does that make you not go cuz someone just said it sucks? Ill get the phone first thing thursday..played with the demo at the store it was beautiful and smooth n touch wizard is a lot better than it was on the behold..n this is a superphone period!

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

CNET has a short preview of the Vibrant. Nothing different than what we know, BUT…

She said that Samsung said that no FFC was a “carrier decision.”

So that answers the question on whether T-Mobile’s version came from Samsung without the FFC or if it was T-Mobile’s specs as ordered.

    • Josh M.

either way, as of tomorrow, it will still be the best phone offered on t-mobile, which is enough reason to get it. If people want an EVO, they should be on sprint. An Iphone, well, theres at&t. Droid X, verizon. Those of us who love t-mobile and what they stand for, will relish the vibrant. the MTS is awesome too, idk why people pass it up.

  • taaars

Go to androidandme.com they have a couple good videos of the captivate, which is the same unit as the vibrant save the back cover. The guy even mentions that some people said “lag” and he hasnt noticed any, also you can use other launcher to get away from touch wiz 3.0 and it works nice (I may go with ADW launcher) . Also they bench marked this phone against them all, and Galaxy S was fast in all categories except one, and that was only achieved by the DROID X in one test…and if TMOPROPHET comes says EVO, well..his fav was almost dead last…so he should be more worried about his unit getting gingerbread before anyone else….AND the rooting process works for the US galaxy S line as well…DROID X is on lockdown..so your stuck with what motorola wants.

  • taaars

Galaxy S was fast in all categories except one

    Meant to say fastest

    ..mia culpa

First I thought I was done on the 28th n they told me the 23rd so that’s why my date changed. The other thing is I’m getting bashed with vulgar language n I haven’t used that against n e 1 so RESPECT plz..All you TMO SETTLERS don’t notice but all u compare the vibrator to the Evo with is the screen. For the last time IDC bout the super amoled or regular screen cuzz they’re both viewable.Other than that the Evo kicks ass even though the specs of the vibrant may be better cuzz let’s face it.the everyday use of a phone consist of good call quality which I’m already hearing the vibrator doesn’t have vs the Evo(Evo isn’t even the best quality),take pix, videos an use the web.Now the evo beats the vibrator in all those main uses.No 1 really sits an runs benchmark test an speed test an stuff everyday.Idk who said b4 that NYC has great 3G but I live here an I guarantee the signal an 3G is backed up.The videos of course will show otherwise because u can create a clean atmosphere for running test like those for ads but in everyday scenario’s the 3G isn’t able to run at its full potential cuzz the data for TMO is always backed up.Just like the video they show on youtube of the vibrator using HSPA+..they specifically say there’s non in the area but they created a hspa+ environment to show the phones full use.I have yet to see some promo of the Evo where there’s LAG an I haven’t seen any screen seperation issues in person although I held 1.Just as u can say the lag will be fixed in an update, the evo is getting an update to fix the fps according to htc..but no time frame.CNet is a trust worthy site an they don’t just go on specs like u guys.they base it on basic everyday features an that’s why they say the vibrator is 1 of the best TMO phones. Not even the best cuzz the N1 is still up their although it has inferior specs so what about the specs?now go to CNet review for the Evo an see they say it’s easily the best Smartphone out there..not just for sprint but overall.the only bad thing is the fps..the only good thing they say bout the vibrator is the samoled which imo if that’s all u can brag about then that’s lame.I can live with a phone that has the same display as the G1 I’m using but FFC,Dual Flash,4.3 screen for my slingbox,Better service,HDMI,kickstand that saves me $ on buying a cradle..I’ll take the Evo cuzz those are used much more than some BS benchmark test and the nexus one is fast enuf for me as far as processor so I don’t care bout the hummingbroad processor cuzz they are both fast. Now continue to bash me bout ur samoled screen cuzz that’s all u got..oh n for that dude saying 3D..IDC BOUT NO 3D..ur overwieght self prob sit watching movies an playin games all day so that’s what makes this vibrator so good to you.

    • taaars

I have not a clue what you just said..other than the fact that you apparently you think you are in love with your evo…and more power to ya.

The review on the EVO from cnn is from the evos release date and at the time it was a superior device, but like all electronics, it has its day, and in a few months another device will come smoke the galaxy s in specs.

What I don’t understand all these people coming in here bashing the Vibrant (now they call it a vibrator, I guess these people are sexually repressed) I speculate that this is pure envy, they have to down everyone else to feel that they still have a good device, they secretly “wish” their phone had some of the specs the galaxy has,(not all, but some) and this is their best way to fight that envy, with juvenile remarks.

To be honest, if you are happy with the phone you got you would not have a need to down another device, so to all those people that keep bashing other phones, keep it coming, it just shows how much you really are dissatisfied with what you have.

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Well needless to say, but I will anyway… I agree with you.

And I note that the CNET reviewer also said the MTS is a good phone.

In regards to the Slide, when I was talking to the T-Mobile rep yesterday he said say that the Slide is selling very well and “it’s our biggest seller.” (His exact words).

I am heading over to the T-Mobile store to see the Vibrant. While I posted elsewhere that I was going to keep my HD2, not get the Vibrant and wait to get T-Mobile’s HSPA+ phone in September, I bet I leave the store deciding to get the Vibrant too.

Maybe I will get the Vibrant, give the HD2 to my sister (who has ALS so she needs a good touch screen phone) and give the Slide to my GF.

Or maybe give our old G1 to my sister and…. never mind, I digress.

But look at what just happened. I talked myself into again getting the Vibrant. As the saying goes “that was easy.”

      What a mess.

      • ItsMichaelNotMike

Oops and a big one at that. This post was a response to Josh M, not Mailman.

        SO MAILMAN, DISREGARD!

What I was going to say to you was that I cannot read your post because you apparently don’t know where the “Enter” key is on your keyboard. :)

Try hitting “new paragraph” every so often.

  • oh it’s wednesday =(

i can’t sleep and i still have to wait another day, but this phone will be so worth it.
i remember being almost as excited before i got my HD2 but knowing this beauty is packing android, just makes it that much better!

  • taaars

And to let everyone know..heres is my dream device:

A retina Super AMOLED 4.3 inch screen.
Dual core 1.5 ghz processor with GPU
64GB internal with MICRO SD slot
    1GB or more ram
    FFC
    XEON FLASH
    12 MP camera

    But thats a dream…..

    • taaars

      Oh..ANDROID os

      • mailman13877

        ~tarr
Who mentioned any CNN review..and the Evo is still in videos vs the N1 an other androids n it wins hands down so its not just a 1st day thing. Also u keep saying people aren’t happy with the phones they have..Duhhh u TMO loving SETTLER..we aren’t happy an are trying to find a replacement phone which would be the vibrator or Evo an so forth..We are all on TMO still an we are not happy with our devices so that’s on TMO.If you were happy with yours u wouldn’t be wanting the vibrant nor having a dream hpone that TMO will never have..I bet those specs of ur dream phone is out by ends year of 2011 on another company. It’s also obvious that some of you are lying when u say ffc n flash ain’t n issue seeing its part of ur dream phones.

      • mailman13877

Oh and it seems the Droid X is off ur dream phone specs by .5gig in processor, ffc and couple MP..Maybe TMO will come that close in 2012 if they’re around.

  • daffy

mailman i dont understand u. this is a t-mobile forum and u come to insult the company, its phones and the customers. WE get it you’re leaving t-mobile to get your evo quit bashing and just gtfo.

    • mailman13877

      @daffy
I’m not gonna stop cuzz TMO will get my all until I see a legit showdown of the vibrator vs the Evo which wont come till probably next week. I bet the rooted N1 vs vibrant showdown will be closer than it should be. All I wanted was the N1 till I saw the Evo kill it in a showdown so now I’m waiting for the vibrant to prove me wrong.

      • David

Dude, are you in special ed?

      • daffy

But what u don’t seem to see is no one here gives a damn about the evo or sprint. We are t-mobile customers because we choose to be, if we wanted to be with sprint we would be.

      • JermaineJacksonhair

LOL, my dude def seems a lil slow

      • Matt Smith

He has to be in special ed. Mailmans’s English skills are horrid.

      • Macknifetx

If I wanted the EVO, I would go to Sprint, but then I would have to deal with horrible customer service and a screen that is sub par. Yes, the EVO may have killed the N1 as you say, but you need to understand that the EVO came out after the N1. Things do progress as time goes by. The Vibrant is better than the EVO in specs and graphics, but guess what, it is coming out after the EVO. Imagine that.

  • mjcl987

wow, 268 comments already?! and what’s more impresive is that 10% of those comments are coming from the BIG MOUTH of Mailman, impresive, huh?

    • mailman13877

Yea 10% from me keeps you guys posting more. See all I do on here is voice what I believe is facts to bash TMO but since some of you have nothing on the Evo or Droid X other than samoled you bash me. Smfh at some people. Ooo..I can’t see without samoled…get real. Talk big boy facts with ur Almighty specs but yet lagging in everything but display for what?? Video games n movies??? Lame.

      • ObsceneJesster

        OK lets talk facts.

        1. Super AMOLED display is more “vibrant”, thinner, has better contrast and uses less power.

        2. Internal storage is 16GB and couple that with a 32GB SD card that gives you a total of 48GB of storage. Thats a whopping 15.5GB more than the EVO.

        3. The Vibrant uses 802.11n while the EVO uses the older standard 802.11g.

        4. Vibrant records 720p video at 30FPS while the EVO can only do it at 20FPS.

        5. Vibrant’s battery gives you 7 hours of talk time while EVO gives you up to 5.5 hours.

        6. Last but certainly not least. The Vibrant’s Hummingbird processor coupled with the PowerVR SGX540 makes the Snapdragon look like the outdated, over-hyped chip it is. Every Benchmark out there shows the Hummingbird bending the Snapdragon over it’s knee and beating it like the red-headed step-child it is.

Oh and the Vibrant isn’t capped at 30 FPS…Sorry EVO!

  • Relikk2

I said the FFC and Flash aren’t an issue FOR ME. If I take 3 pictures with this thing I’ll be surprised. I’m using this phone for text, talk, gamming and video playback(aka Avatar). I will probably barely use the web either. This phone kills for gamming, and not because of the screen (the awesome screen quality is a plus), but because of Hummingbirds awesome GPU. There is a video testing it 3d performance and its just ripping up every phone out there and most new GPU that are coming out. Most super phones today are 30m triangles per second this phone is 90 million.

My only complaint is it seems that the battery sucks. Which is probably due to the awesome GPU and screen but even if I didn’t have T-mobile as my carrier I would be getting a Galaxy S. I’m just lucky that my current provider is releasing their version first.

  • Relikk2

    Mailman,

You do realize that sprint has a version of the Galaxy S phone coming out right? In some ways the sprint version will be the most complete with all the super phone “hoopla”. It will be 4G, have the LED flash and FFC as well as a QWERTY keyboard. It’s called the Samsung Epic and if you’re stuck on going with sprint I would suggest you wait for that to come out over the EVO. The battery life will probably be horrible though as sprints network architecture kills batteries.

  • ObsceneJesster

Mailman is so missguided it’s not even funny anymore. He says HTC will be updating to fix the 30 FPS cap in the EVO. Hey IDIOT…HTC already said it was not fixable due to the HDMI out. Next he says he is already hearing about poor call quality with the Vibrant. Again, Hey IDIOT…Do you pull information out of your ass or do you actually do research? Find me one review that says this because I can give you a review that says otherwise. Lastly, you talk about the hardware power of the Droid X but if you read my last post you will see a link that proves otherwise. If you clicked on the link you would see the Galaxy S beating the Droid X in a benchmark.

Go check out the Vibrant review that is posted on Tmonews. It says the phone has good call quality and no lag. Funny how you say the phone lags when every review I see say otherwise.

Have fun with your so called 4G that’s slower than T-Mobiles 3G (HSPA+). If you don’t believe me I can provide you with proof on that as-well.

  • ObsceneJesster

Oh and Mailman…One more thing…When you reply to my post please use some punctuation. You last post consisted of 5,000 characters yet you only used 3 periods. It was extremely painful and makes one question, what college did you attend or what high school did you graduate from so I know where NOT to send my kids.

  • droiddoes

mailman or wateva we get it already you want the evo so go get the freakin phone already and stop bashing us loyalist me personally i admit i wanted the evo but im not going to pay an extra $10 for 4g when its not even out where im at here in jacksonville, FL 3g works couls and a week from 2day we will have hspa+ and as far as giving tmo ur all so why not go to their actual forum i mean read the website’s name UNOFFICIAL tmobile news do you really think you are making a whole lot of diffrence besides pissin everyone else off maybe the evo is betta than vibrant maybe its not it all depends on your needs hell in my opinion the g1 is betta than iphone 4g but thats just my opinion do you see me posting that all over iphone blogs um not its not that freaking important oh and btw before you call someone overweight for playing games and surfing the net look at you its seems your are on this site 24/7 come on man grow up already stop being stuck in peter pan mode your are going to think what you want and we are goin to think what we want jus be glad we have options and aren’t stuck in the esarly 90′s with plain dumb phones

    signing off tmo loyalist

    • mailman13877

Dude I’m not on here all day but I work 12hr shifts n so I use my G1. You guys only care bout avatar n Sims. How many times u gonna watch it n say this is why I got my phone. If u wanna play Sims go on a pc or game console. You guys are probably the same grown a** people that’s always commenting in the market for the Gameboid app “I luv u..now I can play my Pokemon”. That’s gotta be you seeing how u so grown n bragging bout Sims n avatar. Just make sure u watch it everyday n then play your Sims after to get your money worth ok.

  • mailman13877

Thanks relikk.I saw the SGS Pro for sprint but don’t want a qwerty.

    @obscene
I think u should go to engadget as they posted n article recently with htc saying that it can run more gps but they capped it at 30 cuzz of the HDMI. They also go on to say that they are looking into it which means in basic terms..we will update the fix via ota cuzz if xda has already found a way to get it at 54fps so can we. Either way it will be fixed cuzz my G1 has been rooted from day 1 of root so ur wrong. As far as the phone quality I’m not hearing it from articles, I’m hearing it from people who already has the phone for promo reasons n have made little comments bout it. Maybe you should Google Samsung galaxy call quality before u talk. The call quality wont change from the original version unless they added noise cancellation mics n they didn’t.

Seems like you missed my initial FACTS. You can replace equal memory for less than $50 if you want that much, the processors are both old enuff, the battery life can both be extended for a few bucks n after rooting you will soon be able to record at 30fps if xda hasn’t already figured it but I take pix more than record. N again the damn samoled gives you more colorful images,so what. You all off what you mentioned can be replaced but u can’t buy or root ur vibrant for the ffc,DUAL flash n HDMI. Oh n u can’t watch ur avatar on a 4.3 screen n save money on a cradle with the kickstand at the same time can you???

        - The Vibrant has quite a bit more internal memory, right? I don’t believe you can replace that.
        - The processors are both old enough? Old enough for what? The evo processor is certainly old – that part is correct. But I believe the Hummingbird is the newest processor out, while the Snapdragon has been used in many older phones by now.
        - Extend battery life for a few bucks? Who wants to have to buy another battery (costing $50+?) for their phone to last all day? And not to mention making the phone heavier & thicker…
        - I didn’t realize before you mentioned it that you have to root the evo to get a decent video recording framerate, but if that’s true that is downright wrong. 30fps has been a video recording standard for a really long time now – I’m surprised at that limitation. And again, having to root a phone to restore a basic feature…
        - So you readily admit that the SAMOLED provides a better picture than the older generation evo screen, but then dismiss it with a ‘so what’? I’m not really sure how to help you here since display quality is one of the most major items to consider when buying something with a display. And if you’re under the impression that the SAMOLED only provides “more colorful images” then you should read up on it. Aside from that (which is a huge benefit) it also provides for a much thinner device, less battery usage, and much better outdoor readability. Again, major benefits.
        - FFC & camera flash – yes those are features that are missing on the vibrant but they are minor compared to the features the vibrant has over the evo (DLNA (wireless HDMI), faster processor, better display, better video recording, more internal memory, batt life, faster wifi, night-mode camera, etc).

Brad ur slow cuzz I said the Evo wasn’t the best in quality. I didn’t read up bout the Evo quality cuzz I new it wasn’t all that. I was just saying the vibrant can’t seem to legitimately win in any often use features other than graphics n display. It either at best ties the Evo or loses in everything else other than colors lol. That’s all I’m saying.
        ———————

Check out the Google results you brought up though – it’s not even close. Sure, this is partly due to the evo being released first, but regardless I can’t imagine why you thought it would be a good idea to highlight your phone’s shortcomings on this blog.

      • Relikk2

        You forgot;

        Bluetooth 3.0

DLNA (allows you to stream media to or from other DLNA devices such as PS3 through network devices)

And I’ve been reading that the phone comes rooted.

    • Brad

mailman13877 said, “Maybe you should Google Samsung galaxy call quality before u talk.”

I just did as you said and found quite a bit more complaints for the evo’s call quality than the galaxy, by a wide margin. Perhaps you should check that stuff out before stating it? So far with the two posts I’ve read of yours you are hurting your favorite’s phone reputation far more than you have harmed this Samsung.

      Just a thought.

      • droiddoes

exactly oh and i never said g1 was bad i still pull mine out every once in a while really i could care less about avartar and sims currently i have the g1, nexus one, hd2, and the odroid (developers edition of course) i don’t really need a new phone jus for gaming shoot i don’t even really need a new phone perion bhut do like my man said do your homework maybe you should stop following tmo blogs and research your beloved evo mailman because your facts are so twisted its not even funni man oh and answer me this how can you go to college, work 12 hour shifts follow theese blogs and sleep plus eat that tell me one of two things 1) you’re flat out lying 2)you have no life. so which is it peter pan boy?

      • androidarmy

@mailman: ….you can pick up your face at the local Sprint store.

  • monkeyboy

tmonews needs a ban button. mailboy is insecure with his purchase of an EVO.

    • mailman13877

      Monkey
TMO wont ban me cuzz I’m voicing my opinions without braking rules. Besides the more comments the more popular they remain I would think. Now it seems some monkeys don’t follow on point cuzz I have NOT left TMO yet or bought n Evo. I plan on it but if you guys were smart you realize I’m still here cuzz honestly ive been hoping someone on here can make me change my mind bout the vibrant n TMO but u guys haven’t so I’m out to the Evo soon lol. Ive been with TMO since 2001 so no matter what its hard to leave cuzz I never had any issues with them other than their phones n signal issues lol. The divorce is here though. Also Ive always wondered why I get 5 bars with edge but never more than 3 with 3G..boggles my mind.

      • swehes

I put my hands on the Vibrant yesterday. It is a sweet phone. It does have better battery life than EVO. A friend had the EVO. Charged it over night. In the morning he took it off the charge. Used it somewhat and in three hours it was in yellow. Problem? Yes. He noticed that programs that he killed with his app killer, started back up again and sucked battery. He and his friend both sent their EVO’s back waiting for something better. The other things about the Vibrant. People hold it and they say it feels low quality. However the phone is about 4+ ounces with battery. You would be hardpressed to find a phone that packs that much and weighs so little. And I didn’t think it felt that bad. I would suggest you to go into your local T-mobile store and get some hands on with it. It is worth it.

  • Dud

Come on everyone, just ignore mailman. It’s pointless trying to fix a broken record. Don’t let his baseless ranting ruffle your feathers.

I’m excited for the Vibrant and can’t wait for it.

  • droiddoes

you said it monkeyboy o be quite honest with you mail man i could care less if you were fat, skinny, or but ugly my whole thing is this is the evo out in store right now? why yes it is is the vibrant out in stores just yet y no its its not? so how can you compare two phone when one isn’t out yet albeight videos you have no real proofevo is bettar than the vibrant maybe its just me but earlier u was sayin how the evo is light-years ahead of the vibrant but now you’re saying it ties come on man which is and for your info have u heard of summer sesions so college technically isn’t out also don’t bash others for what you won’t admit the processor and graphics are better than the overated evo read my posts again though i never said the vibrant was betta than the evo to each his own is what i said each phone works to specific needs lets be real though the only thing the evo has over the vibrant is the brand name which i could care less bout i will get my vibrant 2morrow root it and cook up my own froyo rom its not that hardf if yu kno what you are doing so while you have your 2.1 evo i will have my 2.2 vibrant

  • monkeyboy

Everyone, its best to ignore the troll. I shouldn’t have even commented on “it” earlier.

  • mailman13877

Lol ok summer session is in but I’m not doing summer session.End of August is when school is back. Now I said the vibrant can do no better than tie the Evo n other top phones in some comparisons but when you add in all of what u get outta the Evo it is indeed far better. To each his own but I started out by saying I was personally disappointed in TMO for their version of the SGS n people bashed me so I started my Evo ranting. Like I said I would love to stay with TMO if you guys can change my mind but I haven’t heard anything bout this vibrant other than its graphics. That’s not what I’m looking for. After I have the ffc or flash if not both then I will look fir samoled but not the other way around.

    • mailman13877

Lol see what I mean. I keep it bout TMO n the Evo but u guys keep it bout me. Why am I a troll?cuzz I want more than samoled? Huh monkey?

  • Nick

Mailman we do not care what u think or have to say. This is vibrant forums post not evo, please take your stupidity somewhere else, where people care.

    • mailman13877

      Well Nick
I am talking bout the vibrant so pay attention. I’m just not riding the vibrator like some of you so I mention my phone of choice n u get mad. Now for all of u saying you don’t care what I say..wtf u still responding to me then??ignore me n move on. Simple.

  • ObsceneJesster

I am glad I won’t have to rely on XDA just so I can get better battery life, better FPS in high demanding games and the ability to record video at 30 FPS. Lets see if XDA can fix your display when it tares away from the body of the phone.

I love how you think everyone who is buying this phone is buying it because of SIMS and Avatar. I will be removing both on day one since SIMS is for girls and Avatar was a lame ass movie made for tree huggers. I am buying this phone because I want the most powerful Android phone available. I will not settle for a Snapdragon processor that is already 6 months out-dated. I will also not settle for paying $10 extra for 4G (WiMax) speeds slower than my 3G (HSPA+).

By the way, is English your primary language? If so, how did you graduate middle school with punctuation and grammar like that?

  • mjcl987

Who do you work for mailman, Postal Service? lol… I hope you deliver my vibrant on time, lol :P

    • mailman13877

Lol I don’t work for postal service. Mailman was a nickname from when I used to play basketball (Carl Malone). Watch someone say I can’t play basketball now.Amazes me how much my TMO bashing is not cared bout but yet your right on top of me in every article.

      • http://tmonews karl

you guys are all funny…. i love this site!!! and i dont know about your b-ball skills, however the b-ball player you got your nick name from spells his first name with a “K”, as i do!!

  • mailman13877

Punctuation isn’t needed on blog sites so I don’t bother. Funny how this is the first phone with hummingbroad for android in the US n all of a sudden the snapdragon is lame n outta date??? Who jumping bandwagons now??before the hummingbird was mentioned the snapdragon was all u guys wanted. Smh.

  • ItsMe

Im using the vibrant right now…. Phone works great I hate all touch screen phones… Pandora looks awesome something about samsung makes the movie look great…. Other than the fact that the phone doesnt have a flash it looks, runs great!!… It has a built in 16gb internal memory on top of that u can expand to a 32gb external memory card how f’n great is that cant wait to root this guy…..phone is very light… I dont know what else to say go buy one ur self to experience the fun….

  • droiddoes

i will end on this note my ealier post said “tmobile hears you its comming in the pipeline if you can’t wait go get the evo” i trie to be civilized but its hard when all you hear/see is constant senseless dribble what got what u think about the vibrant 200 times over theres no need to constantly repeat it you said the vibrant isn’t what you’re lookin for the point EVERYONE is trying to make is this… MOVE ON you say you were trying to get someone to change your mind thats a line i don’t kno if it was the first time you posted or the ten thousandth but somewhere between then you already made up your mind and instead of researchin the phone you claim to love and highly regard you decided “well i might as well talk constant trash about a phone i have no intention whatsoever of getting” come on man ppl read this blog to get honest info and personal reviews on a phone or service but you my friend have turned this blog into a circus and for what to reiterate a thousand times how much you would rather have an evo come on im sure there is somethin bettar you could be doin with y9our time hell out with a female live a little beause this is just gettin riddiculous

  • Marvin8

How the flock could Sammy not include a flash for the camera?!!!

  • mailman13877

    @itsme
Dude you don’t have the vibrant or else you wouldn’t have told us what we already no. You would’ve told us bout the handle of the phone since its plastic, might slip outta your hands or look messy from fingerprints. You would’ve told us bout that night mode n you would told us if your phone lags unlike the video.

  • ItsMichaelNotMike

Well I have made an executive decision on all this. I have decided to keep my HD2 (I really like it) and wait to consider getting T-Mobile’s new HSPA+ phone debuting in September.

Also may wait to see T-Mobile’s second HSPA+ phone debuting for the holidays.

I wanted the Vibrant, but T-Mobile’s HSPA+ phone will be debuting in less than two months. That’s like tomorrow in tech years.

    • Doug

same here. the vibrant looks great. but my HD2 running Eleganica will easily hold em over until TMO’s next release. I want to jump on the android bandwagon. But I’m going to wait justa bit longer.

  • M.

    http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/17/2010/06/smartphone_stats_v2.0.jpg

For the loser that wants to compare Vibrant to other phones like EVO.. Hummingbird is 3x stronger than SnapDragon. 45nm fabrication uses less battery power than Evo’s 65nm. Super Amoled vs TFT? = S Amoled wins. Graphic processor, 90 mil vs 22 mil. Lets not forget Evo’s framework issues and all the bugs it experienced… which is why Sprint cant replace all the defective phones quick enough.

  • daffy

So I just calls tmobile and the cs Rep said i wouldn’t be able to get the phone from the store until 10am pacifc time. Any truth to this?

  • mailman13877

See why M is missing the point
You just compared the graphics all over again. That’s all you guys can say. I never said the processor wasn’t good. I said this is the first hummingbird phone n u guys talking bout F snapdragon like hummingbird been out for a while. Also you can put the same processor in different phones n they can both work different so that hummingbird can give itself a bad image by messing with Samsung for its debut. Some specs fool you. You say the Evo has other bugs but i have only heard bout the FPS cap n screen seperation issue so wtf u talking bout??If you haven’t notice its been selling out like crazy. I bet this phone doesn’t even sell as much as the G1 did. Funny how TMO can’t get a phone to outsell the G1 n this is like its 6th android phone since then.(wild guess)

  • Darien

I only read a few of the newer comments coming from Mailman but has anyone noticed what has changed? He keeps going from saying “Vibrator” back to “Vibrant”.

I think you guys are finally getting to him and he is seriously realizing how stupid he is for defending the EVO when the VIBRANT is actually releasing tomorrow.

  • mailman13877

    Darian
You had a point up until you called me stupid.Yea I have been hoping you can change my mind but Jacka** like u make me not wanna even touch that vibrant. I’m Hoping someone can bring something to the table other than silly graphics.Tell me the night mode is good or something so I can stay with TMO cuzz right now I’m seeing graphics vs larger screen with better UI,camera, ffc, dial flash, kickstand for my slingbox moments n more. I really would stay with TMO believe it or not but I’m not seeing anything to keep me. N what’s worse the Evo is cheaper for me n I no in my part of NYC Sprint has much better overall service.

  • John

I just saw the vibrant at a tmo store. The phone is beautiful, smooth as butter and very light. My friend now wants to return his evo and get the vibrant lol. The vibrant is definitely smoother than my friend’s evo when scrolling and panning over home screens and web pages. The pinch to zoom is also smoother. The evo is indeed substantially larger and heavier.

    • mailman13877

      John
Dude you obviously didn’t just see the vibrant cuzz what are the chances u see when I ask for more than graphics n ur friend goes with n Evo. What a fraud like TMO is becoming more n more.

  • pimpstrong

Its sad to come in here and so so many comments made by one person.

    • mailman13877

Its sad some people come into blog sites like its some type of room. You pay to much attention to me pimp. See nothing to offer other than graphics so he bashes me.

      • mailman13877

        @KickStar13
Honest answer..which is better..Evo or vibrant? It’s ok if you can’t answer seeing its a TMO site n all but I thought I’d ask anyways.

  • Nick

guys do not bother even with the milkman, it is very clear he has no life and this is how he spends his life. We all here know he is off in the head so lets just ignore everything he says and do not respond. moving on..

    • pimpstrong

that worx. At any rate I just came from the TMO store and demo’d the Vibrant… Needless to say it is without a doubt living up to the expectations. The screen size is on the money, the picture is just crisp and clear(can’t wait to see it in the sun), it runs smooth like the iPhone and it is just crazy thin. I have a sturdy built TP2 and the Vibrant didn’t feel cheap at all. TOMORROW!!

      • mailman13877

        Pimp
Are you lying or your forreal? Now u coming to the table with something n that’s what ive been looking for if your right. Now I’m thinking bout driving over to the TMO store after work. Keep coming people. This is what I need n TMO can have me back lol. What bout the night mode pimp?

      • pimpstrong

not bsing seriously. they said they had 40 units at that store as well. Couldnt find the night mode in the settings for some reason. Avatar played back with ZERO choppiness or pixelation. the hump on the back was minor and the phone didnt wanna slip n slide out of my hand like my GF’s mytouch 3G. Also the Contrast was just sick, black is black like its suposed to be. that was my take on it within about 5 minutes time. Oh yeah the pics were sick and the recording was about 90% smooth. I even did a slow pan along with a fast back and forth…playback didnt show any chopiness at all it was just as smooth as the screen while i was shooting it. Honest info here no BS. AND STILL NO !@@##@$$ PRICE!

  • onthecouchagain

Long time reader, first time poster…

I was fortunate enough to have a T-Mobile rep. in the store let me try out the floor model of the Samsung Vibrant (I think any Tmo store will) and I must say, most of what I’ve read about it is true. The screen is very crisp and clear, the colors are bright and really bounce out. The screen is also responsive, with little lag, though of course, there were only basic widgets set up – I’ve read that the phone begins to lag after you customize all your features into those widgets. In any case, couldn’t confirm this, and my brief time spent with it was very smooth and fluid. I browsed and used Google Maps, and found them both to also be very smooth and responsive (Maps couldn’t locate my current location though). Pinch to zoom was easy to use, as was double-tapping, and the hitting small links was easy and accurate. The keyboard was a major concern for me (I’m used to QWERTY on my blackberry) but I found it was also very accurate, fast, and responsive. Multi-touch is all there too. This was using the Android keyboard. Unfortunately, when I switched to the Samsung keyboard, it really changed the experience. It was slow, laggy, unresponsive and inaccurate. On the other hand, Swype was fantastic to use, after getting used to it, but I could tell even after a brief crash course, I was Swyping pretty quickly. The most impressive thing about Swype is that you don’t have to be very accurate. The predictive text is really spot on. I was impressed.

The phone physically is exactly what most previews tell us, very light. You don’t notice the cheap plastic if you’re not really looking at it, because it feels pretty solid and comfortable in hand. The 4-inch screen is a perfect balance between smaller and larger screens. And again, you’ll be mostly distracted by the display to worry about the phone’s cheap plastic feel. It is superbly thin, as well. I asked to put it in my pocket (with their watchful eyes) and it felt like nothing in my jeans.

Didn’t get to test out much else, but I was overall very impressed with it. Thought you guys might enjoy my amateur impressions. Looking forward to official reviews…

    • ItsMichaelNotMike

Excellent commentary… thanks for taking the time to post it.

On the plastic case, while it’s plastic (as many phones are) was it in fact “cheap plastic” or was it more that it had a cheap feel to it?

Perhaps it felt like cheap plastic because of how light the phone is?

My Slide is all “cheap plastic” too, but the phone has a heft to it, so one does not notice the plastic case all that much. In fact, in the hand the Slide feels expensive despite the “cheap plastic” components.

For example, the battery cover removed (that is half the phone in terms of form factor) really feels and acts like cheap plastic). The “cheapness” is confirmed once seeing that replacement battery covers for phones on eBay sell for $10 or less, shipped.

However, once placing the battery cover back on to the Slide, the phone overall then feels expensive. This is because the battery cover fits tightly against the Slide. This coupled with the weight of the Slide makes the phone NOT feel like cheap plastic.

Maybe the solution is to put some fishing lead sinkers inside the battery compartment. ;)

Speaking of official reviews, first from CNET (this is not the “first look” preview):

  • Damian

I think the real reason mailgirl is acting this way is because she is stuck in a 2 year contract with t-mo and cant upgrade to the new vibrant. So he wants to jump ship.

  • mailman13877

    @onthecoach
That is what I call a honest review. So is the lag gonna be a problem?are u gonna get it or to many lag issues to make change ur mind?was hoping to hear bout the camera night mode. Also is the lag more bout the Widgets or touchwiz UI?
Based on your review I would rather take my chances with another phone even if its not the Evo. Keep em coming lol

    • loc8

If there was lag in an earlier version it’s gone now. I have one right here in front of me.

  • Damian

Mailgirl does not have an upgrade for the vibrant so he wants to sprint to sprint lol.

  • droiddoes

ok ok last post im really excited bout bout getting the vibrant 2morrow less than 24 hours to all the positive feedback as well as the UNBIASED feedback thank you!!! srry mailman but you have already shown us all how biased you all all i can say to you is go to tmobile tomorrow yourself and play with it either way im getting the vibrant oh btw to all my loyal hd2 users hd2 now has froyo as it stands im currently testing it out i’ll let yall kno what i think about it after i finish putting it through its pace one last thing the whole evo vs vibrant thing i absolutley love it more competition means greater features for upcoming android phones

  • onthecouchagain

For those concerned with TouchWiz, I found the experience really smooth, and the apps menu really easy to navigate. I should clarify: when I wrote “with little lag” I meant very very little, and it looked to me like it only occurred when dealing with the heavy widgets, like the ones with the constant refreshed feeds.

But if you don’t like TouchWiz, apparently, you can change it to the more stock Android look. The person does it toward the last few minutes of this video: http://androidandme.com/2010/07/phones/touchwiz-3-0-walkthrough-with-the-samsung-captivate-galaxy-s/

    Hope that answers some questions.

  • mailman13877

    Thanks onthecoach
Anyone with news bout the camera’s night mode?
Damien stfu cuzz I’m trying to listen which is what you wanted but doesn’t seem you want me to.

    • pimpstrong

go to the store and I guarantee you’ll be like Dayum

      • mailman13877

I will go pimp but not till tomorrow unless I hear the night mode is just as good as the single flash pix atleast.

  • daffy

Anyone know if i really have to wait till 10am PST to get this from the T-mobile store even though i am on the east coast?

  • mailman13877

    Daffy
That’s a lie..all depends on the opening time of the store. Its a new phone n TMO is desperate to sell it so tonight they will make sure its stacked.

    • daffy

cool, thats what i figured.. should have my vibrant in hand by 11 am!

  • snugglebandit
