Rumor: T-Mobile Will Launch The QWERTY BlackBerry Q10 This Summer

If a new report surfacing from the folks at N4BB is correct, BlackBerry fans can expect T-Mobile to carry the QWERTY/Touchscreen mashup Q10 sometime in May. According to the site, a BlackBerry rep dropped word during a local BlackBerry Experience Forum event who “confirmed” the availability of the Q10 on T-Mobile this May. The BlackBerry Q10 features a 3.1” 720×720 Super AMOLED display with 330ppi, dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2mp front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage expandable to 64GB with microSD slot, 2100mAh battery, NFC, and LTE connectivity.

T-Mobile still hopes to be the first national carrier to launch the BlackBerry Z10 later this month.

Check out a hands-on of the BlackBerry Q10 from the boys at Engadget below.

nice! I like this one better than the z10.

    • JustSaying

really? because of the physical keyboard or what? :)

      • noelsito

yeah, I’m a fan of physical keyboards, and I like the q10’s design :)

  • JustSaying

Good Job Blackberry! Good way to get their devices out there. Still surprised Sprint isn’t getting the Z10. Many of their customers are pretty angry about that. They should switch to T-Mobile ;)

    • daniel212

I asked 4 people today at work on sprint if they would switch to tmobile for this blackberry they were all like uhmm no I actually like having reception inside buildings LOL something tmobile doesn’t provide over here in LA cuz apparently they all tried tmobile before and didnt like that it crapped out in many buildings in dwtwn LA were sprint usually comes tru.

      • Jeff Martinez

Funny depends on where you live cause my brother in law hates sprint for the same reason and Tmo is night and day here in PHX. DL speeds are 17 down compared to his rocky 2-3mbps, its quite sad.

        • daniel212

Yep I guess it depends were u live over here in los Angeles sprint has LTE already and it gets 15-20 dwn n 10-12 up I know cuz I seen it with my friends sprint phones , while tmobile usually gets 2-6 mbps i have never gotten higher than that only one time i got 9 mbps it was at 3am but i never ever saw that again i usually get 2-6 dwn and LESS than 1 up I KNOW cuz I have tmobile myself lol , im ok with 2-6 mbps dwn but ughh the upload speed is crap over here I cannot ever get more than 1 mbp up on my galaxy note 2 even with full bars of 4G its quite sad.

They are about two years too late with this. If they had come out with this phone back in say, late 2011 or so then I would have been all over it and never switched to the Galaxy. I was an avid BB fan and hoped/wished they would release a touch screen phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Once again, BB is behind the curve on releasing phones with touchscreens and being able to be competitive in the smartphone market. I do not forsee many people ditching their iPhone or Androids to try the newest blackberry.

    • 21stNow

If all you wanted was a BlackBerry device with a touchscreen and a physical keyboard, why didn’t you get the BlackBerry Bold 9900? It came out around October 2011, which lines up with your timeframe.

  • thepanttherlady

Just give us the Z10 already!! :)

    • Zacamandapio

      See my previous comment.

      Ha ha.

I had to buy one. Couldn’t wait any longer!!!!!!

      • thepanttherlady

You’re just going to leave it at that?!!? How is it????????

      • bulls2213

        Amazing device.

  • Ann Dryode

Who gives a F%@k! Why is this news?

    • Because what’s not news to you may be news to someone else? Who would have thunk!

    • thepanttherlady

It’s clear you don’t so why bother reading AND commenting with such negativity?

And because this will be released on T-Mobile it’s considered news here. You know, TmoNews = news regarding T-Mobile.

    • monchis

I’ll type this since David has to carry on a professional image. Ann Dryode, you’re a disgrace to tmonews community. Type freely but with reason.

      • zack

“R” Word is out man. Not sure if you heard.

        • thepanttherlady

          Edited. :)

    • zak

Easy Ann, How is this NOT TMobile news?

    • Ann-sticles Test-icles

yeah i agree. i mean, anything with blackberry in it isnt even news anymore. blackberry is dead.

      • Again, what’s not news to you is news to someone else. It’s not terribly complicated :-)

  • g2a5b0e

I can’t imagine that the demand for this will be very high. I understand there are a lot of die-hards out there who love their physical keyboards, but who wants a screen with a 1:1 aspect ratio in 2013?

    • monchis

Not you obviously? I am excited to try this, I want to get the z10 but I can see it go down in price every week so I will wait.

  • Chris

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Note 2, but for some reason I’d REALLY love to have this phone…

    • thepanttherlady

I prefer the Z10 but in the same position you are with my Note 2. :)

      • The Z10 is impressive, but it wouldn’t compliment me much as a backup to a Note 2 or even the S4 when it drops. If imma go back to Blackberry, it will be in actual form of a Blackberry – the q10.

        • thepanttherlady

I’m going to have a hard enough time going from a large screen to a smaller one let alone add a keyboard to the mix. LOL I actually really liked the Curve way back when but since then, I’ve just preferred full touchscreens.

        • I hear ya, thats why you make a q10 as secondary device only lol. Not worth as a daily driver over a Note. i just miss the precision of emailing. I still wanna play with the z10 beforehand, even though I vouched not to never mess with a all touchscreen blackberry after the Storm 2.

        • thepanttherlady

Took 2 hours for your comment to show up so I could respond. :/

Crazy as it may sound, I’m actually considering the Z10 over my Note 2.

I actually liked the Storm 2 (was smart enough NOT to get the first Storm). It worked great for me while I was with Verizon. Ended up coming back to T-Mobile later and bought an unlocked Storm 2 and HATED it. Not sure if I was over it or hated using it on T-Mo’s network. :/

  • tonkotsu

I hope the battery life is good on this phone. I love my note 2, but miss the ease of typing on my curve, will give it a try.

  • q10 >>> z10, easy!

  • David

That is a beautiful phone…but I’ll still be getting the Z10 for now…I can always switch to the Q10 when it comes out if I change my mind.

    • 21stNow

I thought that the phone looked odd. I have never liked the off-balance look that phones with portrait-styled physical keyboards have if they have large screens also. The BlackBerry Q10 is not as bad as the DROID PRO, though.

  • 21stNow

OK, I just want to vent here. All smartphones sold in the US have QWERTY keyboards. The differentiating factor with this phone is the “physical” or “hardware” keyboard. Can we stop saying that these phones have QWERTY keyboards as if other smartphones don’t?

    • qwerty vs. non-qwerty :)

calm down anxious andrew. The sun will come out tommorrow.

  • Someone

I would definitely buy this phone can’t beat Blackberry’s qwertry keyboard for typing, Throw in google play store for apps and blackberry would be my phone of choice again.

  • scurvy

    Looks gorgeous!!
I am getting antsy for the Z10 still though. just need a release date!!!!

  • mr williams

So David, care to comment on their other rumor of tmo releasing the Z10 to business folks on March 11th? Have you come across anything in regards to that

  • Zacamandapio

    I need an actual date!!
    And it’s not you David.

I can’t believe the actual release date of the Z10 hasn’t been announced.

That’s why I bought the GSM, HSPA, LTE version already.

  • Oliver Jackson

Great move by BB and Tmobile but I hate to be the bearer of bad news but AT@T is getting the Z10 first “sigh”. Good to see Blackberry back in this.

    • David

I heard the Z10 will be available for TMO business customers on Monday (3/11) to ship between 3/13 and 3/14. Usually TMO non-business customers see the BB about a week or two after. I can live with that…the 18th that is (the 25th would be harder to handle). If AT&T get’s it a couple days earlier then so be it.

  • I left Blackberry when the Nexus One came out and never looked back. Saying that I think the new Blackberry has great potential, this will make a great addition to the T-Mobile line of phones. Hope T-Mobile snags all the greatest and latest Android devices. There are some great phones to be had this year with some bad ass hardware and specs.

  • Dax

I have been waiting for this phone. My wife needs a full front QWERTY keyboard and hates touch screens. I have moved on from Blackberry but some people like her need this phone. Great news thanks

  • Josue

im sure the price is gonna be $300 or $600 off contract, typical TMOUSA price

  • galaxydude

I think i am going to purchase a Q10 as a second device to my LG l9
I just like the keyboard on black berries and the specs are very impressive a 2100 mhp battery in a black berry will last for day’s

  • This device will make or break the true response of BB10

  • tomarone

Sounds good and I bet the battery lasts for a long long time. Glad to see some motion for a change on the BB front. Now if they can just transition to Android.

  • TGoosh

Q10 should have been their debut phone for BB10, or atleast released at the same time. I cant wait to try this phone out!
