T-Mobile Finally Confirms April 24th HTC One Launch Date On Twitter, Wi-Fi Calling And All

Screen Shot 2013-04-16 at 1.03.19 PM

I can’t for the life of me figure out where T-Mobile announced the 24th of April as a launch date for the HTC One prior to this tweet, but that’s ok as we took care of release date news for you. At the very least, it’s just one more confirmation that T-Mobile will truly drop the HTC One (in select stores) one week from tomorrow.

I think this puts the release date argument to rest.

@tmobilehelp

P.S. For those of you asking about the inclusion of Wi-Fi calling on the HTC One, the gallery below should answer your questions nicely.

And magically one month later there will be JB for the htc one s on tmobile.

    • JayInCA

I read a rumor that JB 4.2 will be available for the HTC One, as well, in May, but I don’t have a link to trace that back to.

      • JayInCA
        • moises1204

i believe it when i see it is HTC we talking about here!! its been a year since the one s was released and it is still on ics!! and no official jb in sight yet.

        • lavenchi

actually HTC is really good with releasing its updates, for some reason tmo hasn’t approved/finished testing the update… :(

    • melon3531

I’d place a bet on that!

  • drzfr3shboialex

    Hopefully we can pre order

  • marbo100

Maybe “AG” thinks Tmobile announced it after reading the news here at Tmonews.

  • http://knightofscorpio.tumblr.com/ DtheArtist

Kudos to the person who tweeted T-Mobile, lol. That’s exactly what I wanted to say. Because they were really annoying me.

  • JB

You announced it David, therefore it was announced. You secretly work for John Legere, and you just don’t know it. :-)

    • http://tmonews.com David

That’s what I’m talking about, they don’t even need to announce it, I can just do it for them!

      • Kit Pogi

seriously, David, you outta be paid by T-mobile for what you do for their loyal customers, and for their future ones as well. still, there are lots of people out there have no clue on what’s going on with the network they signed up with. you make it accessible to us in keeping in touch with T-mobile and its whereabouts. much appreciate what you do sir! HTC One! it’s definitely the best phone ever manufactured to date. i’m sure a lot of people out there would disagree but, just laying it out there as my own opinion.

        • http://tmonews.com David

          Thank you!!

  • Omar

If u return a phone within the 14 day period, do u get a new set of 14 days to return that phone? Mine is up on the 22nd so I’m trying to make it last till the 24th : ) but the restocking fees will hurt : (

    • thepanttherlady

It is 14 days from the date of the original purchase, it does not reset. You can always return it (minus restocking fee) and go get a cheap $20 phone from Target for 2 days. :)

      • Herb

Also: No-contract phone purchases have a 30-day return window.

        • thepanttherlady

Just a question others may have, is this policy for outside of Cali? Here in Cali we have a 30 day window for both contract and non-contract (except Walmart) purchases.

        • Joseph M.

Yeah, it’s a two week return period in most states, unless required to be longer by law. In California, the law says 30 days, so you lucky folks get 30 days.

        • sonny souvannarath

Yes, only in Cali you get 30 days of buyers remorse period.

        • thepanttherlady

The question isn’t regarding the buyers remorse period. It’s for non-contract purchases.

        • Herb

          Joseph M is correct.

        • moises1204

here in Boston ma also 30 days i asked that question before i got my girlfriend the iPhone 5 last Friday.

        • 21stNow

          From my Z10 receipt:

“Devices purchased without annual service: To receive a refund or exchange a Device purchased without an annual service agreement, you must return or exchange the device within 30 days of the original purchase date.”

There are no state restrictions or exceptions on this statement.

Now a lot of the store reps seem to be unaware of this. The sales rep that sold me the Z10 “kindly” highlighted the 14-day return policy. I have had to deal with this in the past, where reps insisted that I only had 14 days to return a phone, even though the receipt says otherwise.

  • Bob

Still nothing offering a chance to pre order online? Was that email offering the car dock for online orders only a joke?

    • Deon Davis

LOL Right what happened to that? Thats what Im waiting on. T-mobile get off iphone nut sack for a second, your loyal cust want the One also!

    • Erik Hanson

      SERIOUSLY. Car dock want! That’s essentially the only thing keeping me from buying the developer edition ;

    • Bob

It gets better, T-mobile replied to me on Twitter saying the opportunity to pre-order has passed! It was never avail to pre order direct from TMO. I should know, I check their site and sites like tmonews and other android sites daily on the hour for such an announcement.

    • thepanttherlady

If you pre-registered by 4/4 and purchase this online, you should be able to get it.

  • sam

I believe the tweet has since been deleted? I can’t find it

    • http://tmonews.com David

      That’s why screenshots rule!

      • du22ty

        Why did they delete it?

  • NinoBr0wn

I’m not getting one, but I’d like to see this gain back some ground for HTC. Samsung is flooding the market the same way they did with their flip phones.

    • Joseph M.

Samsung is already cheapening the S4 to $200 before it even comes out. They’re throwing away a huge amount of profit potential from the early adopters, but they don’t seem to care. It seems like they really, really, really just want the S4 to dominate the sales race with the HTC One.

      • NinoBr0wn

What do you mean cheapening it to $200?

        • Joseph M.

Oops, I forgot this is T-Mobile News. I was comparing subsidized prices on the other carriers. Sorry about that.

I do believe that has Samsung announced pricing for the S4, and it is at least $50 less than initially expected.

        • TechHog

Or maybe that rumor was just wrong?

  • Justin

I’ve watched a few unboxings of the T-MO variant and it looks like there is no included headset? Sure they probably aren’t very good, but I do use them if they come in the box….seems like an unnecessary cost cutting move

    • Joseph M.

Hmmm. I don’t like the sound of that. More and more states have hands-free laws each year, so it’s definitely courteous to include one for legal compliance. On the other hand, maybe HTC figures most people already have 2 or 3 of ‘em in a drawer, most likely in the original unopened baggie. (I know that describes me.)

    • TechHog

None of the variants come with a headset. Blame HTC.

      • Justin

I would disagree. All the AT&T (and International) unboxings I’ve watched included a black headset with red in-ear tips.

        • TechHog

Really? I could have sworn the one I saw didn’t

      • Justin

Not sure about Sprint. But on second thought, I can’t remember the last T-Mobile HTC phone that came with a headset. I don’t know if that is because of HTC or T-Mobile…but I’d probably lean towards T-Mobile.

      • taron19119

AT&T HTC One comes with headphones I seen the unbox ing

    • Shawndh

My One S did not come with a headset.

    • skinybone

Yeah thats true i was suprised that i didnt get any

  • http://www.youtube.com/#/mrjlwilliams J. Williams

So how well do you all think this will sell compared to the iPhone 5, and Galaxy S4?

    • Joseph M.

With Samsung already undercutting the One by $50, who knows?

The HTC is widely regarded by reviewers as a superior piece of hardware in hands-on testing, but the S4 offers blazing performance, a bigger screen, more MP’s on the camera for easy editing, plus removable storage and batteries for $50 less.

I think the Samsung S4 will catch the nerds who care a lot about specs, numbers, and “bang for the buck,” while the HTC One will catch more “regular” people who like the HTC One’s superior aesthetic design and feel, and are willing to pay an extra $50 to get it. As long as the One offers great performance to match or come very close to the S4, it will be a winner (in perception, if not gross number of units sold). If the “Boom Sound” speakers really are superior to most everything that came from a smartphone before, that will really help HTC too.

iPhone is iPhone. iPhone 5 will sell relatively well on T-Mobile for at least a little while, but in the general market, iPhone is slowly losing ground to Android phones, so who knows? iPhone is still a huge player and it’s definitely good that T-Mobile finally offers a model that’s optimized for their network.

    • Shawndh

      My prediction is the following:
      1) iPhone 5
      2) HTC One
      3) Galaxy S4
I’m personally waiting on the One, but I will also be getting a 5 for the wife. The iPhone is just the the most popular of smartphones right now hate or not. People will switch carriers to get this phone at the monthly price they’re offering. The One is a significant upgrade if you have any of the older HTCs from T-Mobile. But the GS4 isn’t a significant upgrade from the GS3 or the Note 2. However, with the $50 price drop it may cut in on HTC One sales.

HTC will be lucky if they get the#2 spot against Samsung because although they have the better build quality (on the outside) they still have to convince buyers they don’t need a removable battery and SD card. And if the overheating issues occur along with gaps at the top (check AT&T user complaints) this will hinder sales also. It could go either way between The GS4 HTC1 but the iPhone will def outsell them both.

  • TechHog

lol the tweet they replied to

“I DON’T LIKE WAITING SO I’M GOING TO GO DOUBLE MY MONTHLY BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

  • moises1204

I am dying to buy this phone but something is tell me not to do it!!! oh yea is GS4 telling not to buy it!

    • don’t hate

      You want an iPhone 5:)

  • turb0wned

I wonder if we will see a preorder tomorrow..

  • WIL CLARK

it should have came out a month ago….now s4 is going to destroy it, couple that with the iphone5….not looking good for the once hyped htc one…

    • Joseph M.

HTC doesn’t have to outsell either of the others in order to have a successful product. HTC does have to sell enough of them at a price that makes a profit though.

    • Deon Davis

The One is getting a lot of love, what are you talking about? They just have to sell enough to profitable.

    • Michael

The S4 is not going to destroy it. They are both going to be great phones. HTC is actually advertising the phone a little better this time though.

  • sysu3peat

Why does this TMobileHelp Twitter account is clueless about it’s own “free car kit” promotion… http://i.imgur.com/QqhPD1K.jpg

  • Snake384

Does anyone know if one is able to give more as a down payment on a phone? Or 100 is mandatory? Ty

    • thepanttherlady

Yes, I believe you can make a larger down payment.

    • Deon Davis

      You can give more

    • JB

You can. Also, when you pay your bill each month you can just put the whole amount of the bill towards your equipment and not only will it effectively reduce the amount of payments left on your equipment, it will also count towards your bill.

I’ll use me as an example. I have a phone on EIP, my monthly airtime bill was 160. So I decided I was going to pay my bill and an extra 180 on my equipment. I payed on my equipment first. When I went back to pay my actual airtime bill, I found out my balance owed was $-20! I was sort of taken aback by that so I had to check my equipment balance and sure enough, it was reduced by 180 and 9 payments and my monthly bill was taken care of! This may be stupidity on my part because it might already be common knowledge, but I felt I needed to share it anyway because of how awesome T-Mobile is making it to pay off your equipment faster and take care of your bill in one shot!

      • Mark

Even if you owe that much less on the phone, you’re now $160 in the hole on your airtime charges. I can’t imagine that TMo will like that for very long.

        • JB

Well I hope that’s not the case. My thought was that since your EIP is baked into the bill in the first place, then they just see it as an overpayment and apply it to your overall account balance. Like I said below, if it’s a glitch, They’ll fix it, I’ll pay each separately and move on. If not, Then I’ll see it as T-Mobile’s way of getting people to upgrade faster.

      • daddym

You had to leave something out of your example. Airtime or monthly charges have zero to do with your EIP balance. There is no possible way to have your bill money apply to both. I do know you can call in or go to a T-mobile store and designate Eqiupment plan payments separately to account for EIP only.

        • JB

“Airtime or monthly charges have zero to do with your EIP balance”

Tell that to T-Mobile, I didn’t leave anything out. I am now $-20 on my bill and I’m now 9 payments less owed on my EIP. It could be a glitch, or it could be intentional for the fact that since your payments are baked into your monthly bill, then they see it as overpayment anyway.

All I know was that the few days after they launched the Simple Choice plans, the one time payment option online was down for maintenance. When it came back up I had a option to pay whatever amount on my EIP, and the result was my example. If it’s a glitch, I’m sure they’ll fix it and I’ll pay each separately each month. If not, I just take it as T-Mobile’s way of getting people to upgrade faster.

  • galaxydude

It’s a great device. But I am hoping that T-Mobile will announce that they will be adding the LG Optimus Gpro to there lineup

  • http://twitter.com/ZamoraO OZ

Thinking on getting one and paying in full with my AMEX card, to get 2nd year warranty included.

  • don’hate

Who needs HTC when we have Apple now? :)

    • turb0wned

      People with brains.

    • LOVE

andriod is still better, more apps, GOOGLE STOCK is worth more than APPL (even thought GOOG just dropped/). Google fiber in the works, you should be moving away from apple at this point anyway. good luck !

  • tmogeek

Unfortunatly the HTC One is only going to be in 292 stores in the whole US…better luck ordering online or line up at doors in major cities!

    • tmogeek

Hopefully it will reach all stores soon after the 24th

    • Onelover

Do you have the list of stores that will be selling?

    • skinybone

Good thing i already have mine :-)

    • corona10

I wonder when they’ll start the preorders again. Is April 18th and they STILL do not have preorders for a device launching on the 24th. But already you know on the day you can order a GS4. Very vague and little info about the One. I know its not their cash cow like the iphone and GS4, but releasing all these devices so close to on another means one will be over shadowed and we know which one that will be. They should at least start preorders for the One on tmobile by the 19th since the other carriers are selling them officially that day. Seems like everyone was ready to sell Tmobile versions except Tmobile.

  • Steve Park

You know what sucks…I signed up at both HTC and T-Mobile to be informed via email when the One would be available and to date, the only email received from either was from HTC to inform me that the One was available for preorder on April 5th from everyone but T-Mobile (sold out). Doubt if the Elizabethtown, KY T-Mobile store will be one of the 280+ stores to have the One at launch out of 3000 stores.

  • mdhdpu

Spoke with a store rep last night and he indicated they would start selling them on April 19th. Also, the iPhone sells went so well, they are out and had to remove the models because of the onslaught of people.

  • Singleweird

i cannot wait. getting that crap the first day.

  • http://www.facebook.com/justus.vangundy.9 Justus Vangundy

I think the HTC One is going to be a awesome phone!!! It will work perfect on my Plan of $49 Bucks for Unlimited EVERYTHING!!! Check it out! http://nostringsmobile.com/

  • jess

called a rep today told me the date was false. They still have it listed as coming soon. IDK what the problem is honestly

  • http://www.facebook.com/randall.lind Randall Lind

Freaking nice $99 down for 32GB but it for a limited time only. Do to some personal issue being force to move holding off on a new phone. Hell this is nice.
