New T-Mobile Roadmap Indicates Upcoming Device Launch Release Dates

We’ve been wondering all about the Galaxy S Blaze 4G ever since we first got wind of its existence a few hours before the release of the report. Like almost all all the smartphones “announced” at the Consumer Electronics Show, we don’t have a specific date for the Blaze 4G to launch. Or do we? According to this screenshot, we’ve obtained a small piece of T-Mobile’s 2012 roadmap, specifically the first three months. Things may be a little hard to see but we’ve got devices scheduled for:

  • January 11th — we know this was the Lumia 710
  • January 18th — close enough that we’re surprised we don’t know what it is
  • February 15th — two devices launching on this date
  • March 21st — another single day launch

The roadmap may seem sparse at first glance, but like all good roadmaps, this one is subject to change and may have already changed since the time the shot first arrived in our inbox. We should emphasize that while AT&T and Verizon may have announced a number of handsets at CES, they too won’t all arrive at once. The unfortunate aspect of CES is that products are announced and can (and do) arrive at any point during 2012. We’ve been assured by T-Mobile’s highest brass that they have plenty in store for 2012, and that includes high-end handsets which I know you all crave.

Now it’s time to get to work discovering what’s arriving on each of those dates.

Feb 15 would be 2 months after the GNex release on Verizon.  I’m hoping that was the extent of the Verizon Exclusivity deal and we see a GSM GNex

    • http://www.unscripted360.com Deacon

me too.  the Galaxy Nexus is the first Nexus device i’ve been interested in.

    • Jonathan3579

I am happy with my GSM Galaxy Nexus. :)

  • Joegrizzly74

    February is the Iphone… I hope…

    • Dstaylo2

im really hoping that the iphone finds it way to tmobile…because if not im just going to be sad and iphoneless once again.

      • Anonymous

You can buy an unlocked iPhone directly from Apple.

You’ll just be limited to EDGE speeds.

        • http://twitter.com/RudyFlyer4 CJ

Gamestop sells Iphones for 399 and you can unlock them but only on Edge. Plus T-Mobile is not going to get the I-Phone. They do not want to pay the fee that Apple charges. Lets hope for a superior windows phone from Samsung, Nokia or LG (little afraid of LG see G2x lol)

        • Anonymous

          No.

A jailbroken jPhone is not the same as a FULLY SUPPORTED factory unlocked iPhone bought directly from Apple.

        • http://twitter.com/RudyFlyer4 CJ

I totally agree with you, thats why I gave mine up. It is an option for those who want one. My really problem with switching to ATT or verizon is i would lose my plan from 2003 with unlimited internet and very cheap family plan. I would love to see a 4 inch Iphone on Tmobile and I am a Microsoft fan I just do not think it will happen.

        • Jcj1

Apple will only make the same specs, they will not increase screen size unless they feel like. That is Apple’s downside, they are reluctant to change and proprietary to the end.

        • Littlesis1774

They going to have too if they don’t lose more customers. If I don’t get the iphone 5 on 3g on t-mobile then you can except me and thousand of others to leave

        • teabaghater

not true most people are on tmobilt cause they hate att and verizon

        • Littlesis1774

          People are leaving for iphone.

        • Jcj1

T-Mobile has already said probably 2nd quarter, it is eventually going to be a T-Mobile device

        • Gwap0

Yeah that’ rgiht!! I am using Iphone 4$ on Tmobile!! Edge is not that bad.. I only check emails and use social networking…I use wifi at home!!! with Tmobile you can have data plan of $5 for 200MB.

        • Cmanning0385

when you use wifi at home do you get the faster speeds? i was told that you do but i just want to make sure, because i was not sure

        • Anonymous

I just purchased one unlocked from Apple. The edge speeds seem just as quick as my G2x and N1 on 3g. Pretty amazing.

    • Anonymous

      Nope.

Apple has to first release an iPhone that supports 1700MHz.

      Maybe the next gen iPhone.

    • Littlesis1774

I highly doubt it the iphone 5 because iphone 4s just came out in October and besides iphone 5 is not rumor to be release until June or October. I am hoping for June so I can remove myself my family plan into the 59.99 value plan

I feel like tmobile really needs some heavy hitters. Phones like the Galaxy Nexus and whatever the next iPhone is can not be missed on their network. We all know that T-Mobile isn’t doing that well and more and more people are going to switch over to other carriers to get the flagship phones.

    • Tbyrne

The problem here kask is that you’re always going to feel that T-Mobiles going to need the heavy hitters. No matter what comes into the lineup, they’ll always be a better phone just outside your grasp. Right?

      • Anonymous

Well sometimes it feels like that. But I don’t think it’s 100% true. HTC and those companies try and make a new flagship phone every 6 months it feels like. But those are usually android with some skin like HTC Sense over it (which personally I don’t like). I think a lot of people would call the Galaxy Nexus the flagship Android device. iPhone is obviously the iPhone. Then for windows phone we get the HTC Radar and Lumia 710, both of which are middle of the road WP7. ATT is said to get the Lumia 900 which looks awesome, along with the HTC Titan 2. No mention of T-Mobile as far as I know.

Now it is possible that that will come to Tmo later on but it sucks to not be there day one. When I buy a phone I am signing to basically use that phone for 2 years (unless I want to buy a crazy expensive unlocked version) so I like to get the best I can at the time.

  • Anonymous

    My kingdom for Galaxy Nexus.

    • Anonymous

      Yup. Someday.

You could always buy one unlocked from NewEgg.

  • http://twitter.com/archangel52005 Mike

The 18th could be the Blaze 4G right? … maybe?

  • http://pernecky.blogspot.com Mike

Good stuff, this is what I come to TMoNews for.  David, did Carly smell like cupcakes?

  • http://twitter.com/xlonewolfx1 Jason

Jan. 18th should be the Samsung Blaze 4g

  • XtiaN8

The only phone I’m waiting for is a high-end Nokia Windows Phone. Hopefully it comes in the Fall…

I guess I’ll have to wait for MWC in the end of February and Nokia World/Connection some time in October…

    • Commander_Fury

We are on the same page however I think I’m going to just get the Lumia 710 and spray paint it a metallic color .

      • http://twitter.com/RudyFlyer4 CJ

That is awesome and put in a 16gb sd card and sell it HAHA!

      • http://www.facebook.com/gazoo.az Scot Gazoo Wheeler

Or switch to AT&T and get a Lumia 900

  • http://twitter.com/EzzyNYC Marc Klein

Where’s the Motorola phones. Did T Mobile’s contract with them run out? They haven’t had any for awhile.. Also, maybe they should start getting some Sony phones.

    • Jcj1

they are not making many phones anymore

“March 21st — another single day launch”
    iPad 3 on T-Mobile, maybe?

    • teabaghater

i crap wont be on t mobile this year

  • Parth Parikh

there needs to be a high end windows phone like the lumia 900 or the htc titan series, what they have now with the 710 and radar is no upgrade from an hd7 or dvp

    • Anonymous

      Agreed!

    • Keithvstevens

Nokia already said the Lumia 900 is exclusively Only available on At&t…. T- mobile will never get it. Read the release statement from Nokia.

      • http://josedmorales.net Josè Daniel

        What about a Lumia 910/1000 though? ;)

        • Anonymous

exactly! It’s all about thinking outside the box.

      • Parth Parikh

i didn’t say the lumia 900, i said a high end windows phone 7 device LIKE the lumia 900 or the htc titan or titan II, because the current htc radar and lumia 710 are low and mid range devices

  • Gwap0

Too early they won’t release it on the same day as ipad 3

    • Realcool2000

Haha perfect example of how childish the iphone is……

  • Anonymous

Why would they even bother releasing the Blaze 4G after the GSII? Its pretty much the Vibrant all over again, -__-

    • Kahlayoh

Same reason why they introduced the new mytouch after releasing the original mytouch 4G and mytouch 4G slide…makes no sense!

  • Tward291

    nexus damit

  • Littlesis1774

If IF that is a big IF the March 21st date is ipad 3 then that will confirm iphone 5 on T-mobile

  • guest

I played with the blaze, its ok nothing special. Its smaller, heavier, thicker, and a but slower then the S2. I liked the sd card slot on the side of the phone.

    • 177ike G

lol sure buddy.  Were you at CES 2012? You work for samsung?

  • Littlesis1774

You android fanboys we all know you don’t want the iphone on T-mobile network bottom line is that T-mobile needs it.

    • Jcj1

why? iPhone has not had any drastic change since it first came out, it looks the same and android is as easy to use. if you maintain your device it runs fine. Yeah there are plenty of people who want it, I have nothing against T-Mobile getting it, but need it?

      • Littlesis1774

yes they need it. T-mobile are losing customers over. I have not seen or heard of anyone rushing to T-mobile for latest android phones. I heard customers are leaving or just fed up with T-mobile for not getting.

    • guest

Wrong, dummy. We want what’s best for tmobile just like everybody else. Just don’t want network capacity suffering because of it. Tmobile needs to prepare for that if/when it does arrive.

      • Greg

Actually, Android phones tend to use more data than iPhones.

        • InvisibleHand

Sure they do on T-Mobile since the iphone is all but useless on EDGE.

    • Vim

Apple, as part of its contract with the carrier, -demands- a significantly larger subsidy than T-Mobile gives for any of its other phones.  T-Mobile isn’t into giving big subsidies on their phones, even during sales, the way AT&T and Verizon are.  AT&T and Verizon can get away with that due to their higher plan prices. As a non-IPhone owning customer I’d resent it if T-Mobile were to give IPhone customers better subsidies than Android, Win Phone & Blackberry customers get. I’d resent it even more if rates got jacked up for everyone to pay for IPhone customer subsidies.

      • Anonymous

Great point.  One reason I left Sprint for T-Mobile late last year (new Radar 4G running Windows Phone!) was because that scenario is what happened at Sprint.

The iPhone came, and Sprint cancelled ALL its customer benefits.  Loyalty discounts, its “Premiere” program for people who consolidate business with them, more frequent upgrades ALL got ditched so that money could subsidize new iPhone customers.  Then, the network just collapsed — at least around here.  Data speeds plummeted to near-dial-up levels as a million new iPhones flooded onto an EVDO network that hadn’t seen a lot of big upgrades in five years.

Net result, a LOT of value got taken out of the experience for me, so I left.

If T-Mobile sells iPhones at actual cost, I’m cool with that.  But I don’t want to see a repeat of the Sprint experience, with my costs going up and customer experience cost-reduced to pay for some new customer’s iPhone.

Why would fans of android not want an iphone? If tmo gets an iphone, ppl will be ditching their carriers and RUNNING to tmo to save HUGE bucks! Do you realize that helps the tmobile android fans as well? More revenue, wich means more high end devices, wich means tmo moves up the ranks from fourth place! I personally dont care for iphone, but why would I not want it on tmo? I could care less wich device someone else likes to use, everyone has a preference… Why is this sight so crowded with ppl arguing about iphone vs android? It should be ppl wanting to see tmo financially excel & in turn bring us all more of what we as individuals want. Dont buy a phone because you want it to battle another device, buy it because it creates entertainment for you, & simplifies your day to day life. Bring the iphone on & lets watch this company really take off. It wont be because I purchase it, but I bet the other three carriers feel the drop in subscribers when the ppl can get what they crave at damn half the price! I hope you get your iphone with tmobile glowing across the top of it as much as you do! I just shelled out 650 for a nexus myself, that tmobile probably couldve brought to me if they had the iphone, & all the ENOURMOUS revenue it could bring! Go tmo, bring the iphone to the ppl that want it, & then bring me the freakin galaxy note!!! Amen guys, were all on the same side hear!!

true, totally 1000% agree with u :) all I want to see is tmobile becoming the number 1 carrier in the US. I don’t like iphone but I’d like to see if we will be getting it this year, so that the majority of ppl stop complaining about tmobile and leaving becuz tmobile doesn’t have iphone as other carriers. a few years ago iphone was so amazing and only at&t has it, and now I see it everywhere, it became much much less interesting, it’s annoyed me in my opinion. what I am looking for is GS3 :) GO TMO!

  • meltav09

Seriously im just waiting off for the Iphone… I dont wanna use my upgrade until im sure Tmobie is not getting the iphone this year… ((T-MOBILE NEEDS THE IPHONE!!!))  Im sorry for you Android fanboys but if tmobile wants to stay in the game, the iphone will be in great help.

  • npf18

I was just at the T-mobile store yesterday looking at some phones. I let the salesperson know I wasn’t too happy with them since I had bought the MyTouch 3G a couple years back and within 3 months, the updates turned it into a useless piece of junk.  We talked about Android & Windows phones, and then she told me what I wanted to hear……..to hold off on a phone until June, that’s the possible release for the new iPhone.  Long way off, but at least it seems to be coming. No more HTC junk for me.

    • Realcool2000

First of all, of all the manufacturers, HTC is ons of the best. Nokia is very good too, as far as quality. On tmo we havent been exposed to any Nokia superphones, but they are great all around.

Back to HTC. HTC is solid company that follows thru with updates for their devices and builds quality work that has great interface and you can drop an HTC or Nokia about 500 more times than an LG or Samsung or Motorola.

I have a galaxy s 2 and I like the large screen because im on the Web alot, but honestly my old G1 does things that the S2 doesnt and the G1 tiny little virtual keyboard is more responsive than th S2 ( the S2 :is easier to type on of course ). Now im not complaining bout the S2, but these are facts, the HTC phones always center the text when you zoom in using the +- rather than having to figure out some crazy secret to do it.

      Anyway.

If you think HTC phones are junk then please explain how any other phone is better and in what ways or stop complaining with nothing to back it up.

      • Realcool2000

And you shouldnt complain to tmo employees that their company doesnt release what you want, they cant do anythi.g about it and they dont anyyhkng about when new phones come out. She told you June to get you stop annoying her and still be nice about it.

  • Vim

Jan 18th is most likely the Blaze, but I suppose it could also be the Galaxy Nexus.  One of the Feb 15th phones is probably the Ville.

    • http://tmonews.com David

I seriously doubt the 18th is the Blaze, it’s too close to that date to not know anything about such a major device. It’s either something ridiculously secret, or the date has been pushed back. Just a first thought. Could be wrong.

      • Vim

Fair point. It’s more likely to be a non-”major” device, then something major.  That said, if it is a major device, the Blaze is probably most likely.  The official announcement, along with the fact that the Blaze is just a slightly modified Gal S greatly reduces the incentive to leak info about it.

      • http://profiles.google.com/truckeemike mike s

We seriously need to get an ICS phone out to retain, AND attract, customers. They want it, we need it. As for the other OS phones, see the other great articles already addressing them!

    • huskerguy30

Nexus S already out by tmobile.

      • Kwiggi83

He said galaxy nexus not nexus s theirs abit of diffrence

I hope one of those is a highend WP device.

  • Kahlayoh

Screw giving up my hopes about what new phone is coming…..how about 1/25 premium and ultra data bundle…I wonder what’s that about? LOL

  • Anonymous

They really gotta got the new Lumia 800 or 900. I can’t believe they settled to just have the Lumia 710  which doesn’t have much hype or excitement to it.

    • Anonymous

except for the fact that it is the first Nokia windows Phone in the U.S.

  • Wkirschman

No chance of a Samsung Note? I want a big screen. Use the web more than the phone. The Lumia 900 would have been good too. Could care less about the iphone unless the iphone5 has a 5″ screen.

  • Anonymous

any idea what the thing is suppose to be tomorrow?

That’s what I want to know. I was all ready to walk into T-Mobile today to buy a new phone.
